Upgrade to Oreo and Root - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Posting in response to to general confusion , for example here and here. If you like it, please click "Thanks" below (bottom right) :fingers-crossed:.
Ingredients (plus links)
Best to use the latest versions available at the time you read this guide. I noted the version numbers I used.
TWRP (I used 3.2.1-1)
Odin (3.13.1)
Magisk (16.0)
Latest ROM from your device, regardless of country, from Updato (slightly faster downloads) or SamMobile. I used the latter simply because it had a more recent version.
Preparation (about an hour)
1. Create full backup using TWRP, because you’ll need to wipe your data (and then restore it from backup). Plus, with a backup you’ll always be able to return to the current state of the device.
2. If not enabled, turn on Developer Options. Then, go to Settings/Developer Options/OEM unlocking. Turn on OEM unlock. Otherwise, you may encounter an error when attempting to flash ROM.
3. Boot into Download.
4. Whether you downloaded from SamMobile or Updato, install using the instructions here (bottom right side)
5. Follow the instructions to disable forced encryption and dm-verity, and to mount internal storage (DATA). Source and files are here
5.1 Install the relevant boot patch for your device below. This can be installed with ODIN or extract the boot.img and flash with TWRP:
T820XXU1BRE2_dmverity_patched_boot
T825XXU1BRE2_dmverity_patched_boot
5.2 Boot to TWRP
5.3 Install the Forced encryption patch: Tabs3_oreo_forced encryption_disabler
5.4 Format DATA using the *FORMAT DATA button* under the wipe options.
(NOTE - THIS WILL WIPE ALL INTERNAL STORAGE!)
5.5 Reboot and check DATA is mountable
6. Root by installed Magisk (or SuperSU). Instructions under “To Root” in the source above.
7. Reboot and verify that the system works right
8. Now, use the TWRP backup to restore your data.
You're done! :good:

But how do you get TWRP if it's not already rooted? Thanks

Why would you need root to install TWRP?
Also I'm not sure of the need for these extra instructions.

I had forgotten TWRP is the first step via ODIN. Ignore me! This guide looks good for custom ROMs too, swapping out the image. Thanks, it is clear now and I am running rooted Oreo

Hi,
I think you really want to help because it's confusing indeed, but you forgot to mention how to install TWRP installation or didn't make distinction between coming from a Nougat or an Oreo stock ROM.
I know that tutos are not so easy to make because you must explain in a simple but clear and comprehensive way. I would do it myself if my english was better and if I had installed TWRP and routed my device myself.
But to do that ,I need a good tuto.. And if I had one, obviously I would not need to write an other one by myself !!

After rooting the device it is necessary to add this line at the end of build.prop, because otherwise screen mirroring is not working:
wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable

I lost my USB otg functionality after rooting Samsung t820 oreo .. how to bring back USB- otg? And I flash adoptable storage zip with twrp but still no internal storage for micro so card option please help

It's not possible once you flash Oreo. There are e-fuses that are triggered when you flash a newer version of andriod and they don't allow flashing an earlier version.

Good day dears,
I already posted my concerns on another forum which later found out that the steps it showed were taking from here.

Hi, I followed the steps until step “Install TWRP Recovery #9” I removed the wrong finger and it booted. I turned it off and when I turned it on using the same method, it went into the TWRP mode and I continued the steps until I reached the step to turn on "Enable MTP button" but it was already on as the only option was to decibel it. in any case, my tap s3 was not showing up on the PC. When I tried to restart it just loop on but not continuing to normal power up.
When I decided to try to do factory reset and use the factory button sequence, its always goes to TWRP mode not the factory reset options.
I don’t have any impotent data on the device, all I ever wanted was to change the aspect ration from 4:3 to 16:9 for my wife to play games and watch movies which require rooting. And now here am I trying to get out of this situation.
I appreciate all the help you can give, and thank you in advance for taking the time to read my problem.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, yes I can access TWRP but when I connect it to the PC to move files to it, my PC doesn't see it. I pointed to this because I'm not sure if magisk is a file built in TWRP or it is something I need to transfer from the PC (which is not seeing my Tap connected).
Apologies if I'm double checking, its just I don't want to jump on action that might complicate things because I was not clear in explaining my issue.

Magisk is a separate zip file that you need on your device to install with twrp. After you have twrp installed you could use wifi, or cell if you have it, to download the magisk file from your device. Just Google magisk 18.0 zip.

MTP should be working both in twrp and android.
Note that if your internal storage is still encrypted it won't mount in twrp.

These are the steps I did:
Reboot Tab S3 into Download Mode
Connect tab to the PC
Opened Odin in PC, clicked on the AP button then transferred file twrp_3.2.1-1_T825_29518 (my Tap has phone chip), then unchecked the “Auto Reboot” box. Finally clicked on Start to begin the flashing process. Once it is complete, disconnected the device.
until this step all is well, the next step is where I messed up.
I wanted to boot into TWRP recovery mode, I held the Volume Down, Home, and Power keys. As soon as the screen went off, release all the buttons instead of only the Volume Down key. this allowed the Tap to boot, and when it reached the the security pass-lock, I turned it off.
Then retried to boot into TWRP recovery mode, it went there fine, then I started the Decrypt process (Wipe > Format Data and enter “Yes” in the provided field after it finished I went to Reboot > Recovery). The device rebooted back into TWRP, connected it to the PC. Then went to Mount, there I should tap on the Enable MTP button however for some reason it was already tapped so i left it as is.
At this stage my PC should be able to connect to the Tap, but its not seeing it.
So I tried to boot it up maybe then I can connect it like before and try to move the folders this way, but it kept looping on the Samsung logo.
Tried going to the factory reset, but it always goes to TWRP recovery mode. So here am I stuck in TWRP don't know what action should I do.

[Q] Boots Into "No Command" Screen

Tried my best to search the forums for anyone else having this issue, couldn't find much.
My N7 isn't rooted at all. It worked fine until last night, the screen wouldn't turn on so I held the power button down to turn it off, booted it back up and it goes into a screen with a red triangle and says "No Command". It sits on this screen for a while and then reboots, and does the same over and over. I can get into fastboot (it also throws the "No Command" when trying to get into recovery), but I'm not sure what my options are. I'm hoping I don't have to resort to wiping the device, so any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!
AW: [Q] Boots Into "No Command" Screen
When you boot in recovery and the red triangle appears, have you tried to press volume down and power again? It should boot in recovery
Sent from my SK17i running Android 4.1.2
Use fastboot to flash a custom recovery, and then do a nandroid backup. From there, you can mess around without fear of losing your data. Perhaps you will need to re-flash the boot or system image, but I can't imagine what could have happened to it in the first place.

He said he has no root and so I guess the bl is locked so he would loose his data while unlocking, right?

I contacted support and they pretty much immediately started to process an RMA. She said someone had called in earlier today with the same problem and they couldn't figure anything out. I have a feeling they don't send new ones for these types of things, so I'm still going to try to fix mine. Thanks for the suggestions.
Here's a pic, I'm still confused on how little I've found about this "No Command" screen:

Woah, did you mean power and volume UP? Because that works... it brings up the recovery menu.....
Am I missing something? Is it normal to have to press power + volume up to see the recovery menu?
Okay, so I guess the real problem is that I'm stuck booting into recovery. Was there an OTA update?
I ended up fixing this. Once I realized what I was seeing was recovery mode, I tried clearing data + cache, but that didn't work. Still booted into recovery mode every time. I went through the mess of installing the right drivers (no idea if it's just me but I always have issues with my computer recognizing my devices), and I used the android SDK to unlock the bootloader and then flashed the factory image. Lost all my data but oh well, better than going through the RMA process.
Thanks again for the help. I seriously would have never realized that silly screen was recovery. Why can't it just show the menu by default...
edit: one other thing, the biggest hurdle I ran into was that I didn't have the drivers installed at all. but since I couldn't boot up I couldn't install the adb driver. I was able to install the fastboot one just fine, but the fastboot commands didn't work until I installed the adb driver. only way I was able to install the adb driver was to go into the 'sideload using adb' option in recovery, at that point windows prompted for the drivers. not sure if there's a manual way of installing the driver but yeah. hopefully that made some sense.

Just for future reference, when at the red triangle, you can get into recovery by holding vol up and power?

From efrants android 101 sticky:*I just flashed CWM, but every time I try to boot into CWM, I keep seeing the stock recovery. Why?If you updated your Android build using an OTA update file (either manually or over-the-air), the update placed two files on your device that re-flash the stock recovery every time you reboot your device. These two files are:/system/etc/install-recovery.sh <== this is the script that installs the patch file/system/recovery-from-boot.p <== this is the patchYou have to rename (or delete) one or both of them, then re-flash your custom recovery. Now it will stick.

[GUIDE] Fix a bootloop on a rooted Zenfone 2

Hello guys,
Here a easy way to fix a bootloop on your rooted Zenfone 2, if you make the error of apply an OTA while being rooted for example.
The only inconvenient of this method is that you will lost your internal data (like SMS, apps, downloads... But not your photos if they were in your SD Card). Another thing, you must have enabled the USB debugging before.
PS : I’m French sorry if my English is not perfect
Step 1
In your Zenfone 2, verify that you can go in fastboot mode : power off your Zenfone. Then, press the Power-On button until the phones vibrates twice. Release it, then go press the Volume+ button until this screen appears :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If that works, connect your Zenfone to your PC.
Step 2
Now go in Asus Website for download the most recent stock ROM of your Zenfone 2 (size : around 1.1 Go) :
ZE551ML : https://www.asus.com/fr/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/HelpDesk_Download/
ZE550ML : https://www.asus.com/fr/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE550ML/HelpDesk_Download/
ZE550CL : http://www.asus.com/fr/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE500CL/HelpDesk_Download/
Remove the SD Card of your phone and copy it the zip, you can do it after if your connection is slow.
Step 2.5
I’m not sure if this is mandatory but do it by prevention : install “15 Seconds ADB Installer” : here a guide for intall it :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Step 3
When this is done, download the folder named : “CWM_Zenfone_2_Intel.zip” :
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/w70w7r1a65840/Zenfone_2
Extract the files, then open the folder :
Step 4
Run “cai_dat_CWM.bat”
Type “ACCEPT” in the command window, in capitals, then press Enter.
Then, if your Zenfone 2 is connect to your PC in fastboot mode and if the script is blue, that’s perfect !
Type “T4”, press Enter, and normally something like this will happen in your Zenfone 2 :
Step 5
Shortly after, your Zenfone will reboot in CWM Recovery Mode
With the buttons, go in :
Install zip > choose zip from external sd card > *name of the stock ROM* > Yes, install
When the installation is done, reboot your device, and normally the bootloop will be fixed ! CONGRATULATIONS :good: :victory:
i tried to wiped cache in recovery mode but before it completes i restarted the phone
so now when i start my phone it just blinks error bot and even when i select recovery mode same thing happens
i also tried to solve it with ADB method but it do not detect my phone
PLZ HEPL ASAP!
Worked! Thanks!
Thank you so much! :good:
It worked for me. Although I had to clear cache and dalvik cache before installing the zip, otherwise my phone would reboot into fastboot when trying to flash the zip.
And best of all: I didn't loose any data!! Just had to root again using method 3 and install busybox.
I edited my build.prop because on the Amazon App Store there is an app (Navigon Europe) that can't be installed because Amazon says my device would be incompatible which it isn't because the Play Store says it's fine. Anyway, upon rebooting I was stuck at the splash screen. Luckily I was still able to get into fastboot...
Thanks again!
Still doesnt boot up
Hi! Thank you for your guide! I ran into a bit of a problem, maybe you will be able to help me out.
I by mistake did an OTA update while rooted, and my phone is now stuck on ASUS logo. I tried to flash different roms from external SD card, but even though they install correctly, phone still does not boot....
Fastboot gives me "permission" problem, ADB says device not found....
Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I am about to give up and go buy another phone.
Thanks a lot in advance

I’m not sure if this is mandatory but do it by prevention : install “15 Seconds ADB Installer” : here a guide for intall it :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Step 3
When this is done, download the folder named : “CWM_Zenfone_2_Intel.zip” :
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/w70w7r1a65840/Zenfone_2
Extract the files, then open the folder :
View attachment 3458828
Step 4
Run “cai_dat_CWM.bat”
Type “ACCEPT” in the command window, in capitals, then press Enter.
View attachment 3458829
Then, if your Zenfone 2 is connect to your PC in fastboot mode and if the script is blue, that’s perfect !
View attachment 3458830
Type “T4”, press Enter, and normally something like this will happen in your Zenfone 2 :
View attachment 3458840
Step 5
Shortly after, your Zenfone will reboot in CWM Recovery Mode
View attachment 3458841
With the buttons, go in :
Install zip > choose zip from external sd card > *name of the stock ROM* > Yes, install
When the installation is done, reboot your device, and normally the bootloop will be fixed ! CONGRATULATIONS :good: :victory:

Hello. I believe I did the same exact thing . Did you by chance ever get back into Recover y mode or get the PC to recognize your phone. I'm a total novice with this, and very lost. Thank you.
Yesterday I did it too. Follow this guide http://valuestuffz.blogspot.com/201...uck-in-recovery-wipe-cache-partition.html?m=1
i was hope ... but
Hi! there.
i spend last to days literelly trying to fix my zf2 ZE551ml, it gets frozen when i wipe cache so i force power off... what a mistake.
i was trying to fix it, and i got it worst. i think i erase recovery menu, so i can't adb sideload, fastboot saids that can not load image system.img, asus flash tool said "flash image failure (failed with error #1), xFSTK works to bring fastboot menu, but since i don't have the file to put on OS dns space, it didn't work, but, after hours and hours, in my last try of a long nigth, i did this guide.
when i see a cwm icon, i can't believe it!! almost made my entire two days, but suddenly, it was all sad, when i tried to install from external sd card it says that there is an error. And the problem still there. here is an option to install zip by sideload, but in de pc said not device detectec.
i really don't know what to do, i'm really tired, and my options are getting over...
any ideas??
Thank you all!!

Thank you for suggesting this guide! It did help me to get back into the recovery mode, however, after following the steps within the guide very diligently. I am still unable to get past the initial loading screen. . I received the permissions denied error just as the post suggested I would. I wiped the cache partition at the end of following the steps as suggested. Still. It will not load to the Welcome screen .

Hi there, i am trying to help a friend re-flash his Lenovo A7000-A phone back to stock firmware but it after reading about it, i've come to know that the phone has two types of firmware ROW-rest of the world version and one other which is probably chinese. i was wondering if that is true and where i could get the non-ROW version. your help would be much appreciated. thanks
Is there any option to update from S133 to S136 (for example) via SP Flash Tool without wipe any userdata - like OTA update?
NOT GOOD. I have downloaded the Lollipop package from the link in the first post.
1. After applying it as described, the Home and Back button stopped working! Tried eMMC factory reset and did not help.
2. The OS occupied space still reported to be 3.13 GB, exactly the same as in Marshmallow!
Now I am trying to perform OTA update back to Marshmallow to see if the buttons would work again, even though I doubt they would...
BTW, in the Flash Tool >> Options >> Download >> there was just a single checkbox available: "DA DL All with Checksum" (version v5.1436.0, DA_v7.1436.00.000, libflashtool.so vBROM_DLL_v7.1436.01).

As you reply on another question like me I tried all steps but this time not tick the check box's in option. This time after turned on phone, just black screen. So again I do all steps as you said with tick in option. But again I face gray and white screen and noting loaded.

Hi! I succesfully downgraded my phone to android 5.0 lollipop. Everything works fine except my sd card -it says my sd is corrupted but that's not true because on android 6.0 marshmallow that sd worked. I also tried different sd card but nothing changed. I even tried to format sd card but it still doesn't work. Is there some way how to fix it ?

[GUIDE] Repair your Idol 3

Hi Everyone
This is Guide how to repair your phone who was dead
My phone doesn't worked for 3 days so i get small trick and successfully repaired from dead
My phone was 5 times not worked like dead,Screen not Works ...only LED works, when i connect to pc usb device not recognized and nothing....
Explanation about my Problem:
IN MY CASE!
and the worst In my case Power button and Volume Buttons doesn't working so i open the BACK COVER eject the cable from volume button and insert small cable in slots to cover the pins like pressing volume up and down and finally connected to pc with usb
So we are starting the GUIDE:
1.First you need the drivers so you can get from this https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1T7tp6tJ_3kX3p6SUxWb2NfWTQ&usp=sharing
2.After you installed the Drivers go to. Download mode if not goes try this... Press Volume UP and Volume DOWN and connect to usb to your pc
3.Go to device Manager to view the Port ,so the port can be "Android HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3)"
4.Download the Panasonic Firmware Eluga and Extract (don't worry this is the same like idol 3 only name changed)https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B01OmzpKE6vAVDhaSFN2aVFzaVU
5. After Extract you wil find EB-90S55EWLv1009.exe so run as administrator wait to load data
6.select 6045 and in the list down you can find your phone
7.and press the button "download"
8.So process starting ..indetifying your device you will get informations about imei..rooted or no .....
9.so automatically started to flashing the firmware (my it's go to 45 % and then i get error)
10.Don't worry press the button Reboot Device
11.and your device will reboot and you will view 'the screen powered by android and then panasonic so i get message Encrypted device just click the button "reset" and automatically device will be reseted and when wil finish with reset automatically reboots and wait to first boot you will get welcome screen set up and finished.....
12.So device successfully repaired from dead
If you want to go to CM or Stock for Idol 3
-i will write guide to unlock bootloader and flash TWRP recovery
-You must have Minimal Adb and Fastboot
-type "adb reboot-bootloader" to reboot into bootloader. The device should reboot to the screen showing " .powered by android". This is bootloader mode.
-Then type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb devices" should show some numbers and "fastboot" after the numbers
-Type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb oem device-info" shows device info including bootloader status (e.g. locked).
-Type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb oem unlock" to unlock the bootloader; after this you should get, for device info,
-Type "fastboot -i 0x1bbb oem device-info" and you should see "Device unlocked: true"
-You successfully unlocked the bootloader one step more to flash the recovery
-Download the TWRP RECOVERY FROM THIS LINK:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759881858
-Then copy from when you downlaod and paste the recovery in C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
-Press Shift in the directory and click Right on mouse and open command promt here
-Type fastboot -i 0x1bbb flash recovery twrp-3.0.0-1.img or fastboot -i 0x1bbb boot twrp-3.0.0-1.img (if you want to test before installation)
-so successfully installed recovery and flash CM Or whatever you want

problem with idol 3 4.7 6039K
Hi there,
I don't know if this is the correct section, I hope so, otherwise I really appreciate you can drive me to the appropriate one, it's new for me this forum!
I have an idol 3 4.7, where I have installed kingroot and after I took out (I didn´t reset the phone, Just unistall the app),
yesterday i received the update system message, I imagine for the marshmallow update, so I say Yes, install it.
But the phone entered in bootloop. I only have the initial screen with the options as Reboot system, adb and so on.
I tried to wipe but nothing. So now my phone stucked. I tried with an assistance center in Quito but they could't
My questions are:
may I use this system for 6039K?
Or does anybody hear about a solution in this case?
Should I open and take out the battery?
Please, any suggestion will be really welcome in order to make the phone work again.

Tell me info About your phone? Model,Country,ROM...../?
All is standard, no root, no twrp and the latest software from alcatel, the model is 6045Y. But all of a sudden my phone decided to random reboot and it didn't stop
So i looked to unbrick it and came with a couple of options, first i tried to sideload software but that didn't work, than i tried it with Mobile upgrade from alcatel and that didn't work.
Than i saw this thread and tried it twice but after Panasonic and the sound it starts to reboot again. Now i'm trying again with Mobile upgrade.
All that is changed is the recovery interface it looks now like it is from MM.

More Looks like Hardware Problem Try again with Mobile q if not works...Send to warranty repair.....
Alek, thank you for this great guide. It saved my 6045k model.
I was messing around with AlekOS 3.0, had issues with lock screen and experimented with modems. I managed to permanently disable secondary sim slot (was using famewolf's modem backups). I forgot to copy modem.img backup to my PC! Also tried bunch of TWRP backups with no luck. My last hope was Mobile Upgrade Q and reverting back tu 5.0.2. Unfortunately with no success (only one sim slot is recognized again).
Finally I found this thread, followed the guide and I can confirm that it did solve sim issue. The setup finished with no errors that you mentioned. It got stuck at 45%, but after a while (10min) it completed successfully.
Cheers!

Lenovo Yoga 2 1050F Bricked

Hello,
A friend give to me his Yoga2 1050F Tab, because it's bricked...
"After a kind of upgrade he said"
So, here's the situation,
Tab is really bricked, stuck on Lenovo Android Screen.
I've tried to factory restore, no success.
I've searched all the web after factory image to flash, I've found 3 of them... But nothing works !!
The 1st one, the only we can still found here, is a factory image from 2015. And the result is, no more lenovo android screen, i'm stuck on a kind of Bios (?) And can't do anything more...
2nd one, (YT2-1050F_S100196_151123_ROW-fastboot), best result, back to an android boot, but stuck on recovery screen, without any possibility to boot...
3rd one (YT2-1050F_S0198_150422_ROW) impossible to flash, it's always failed at "flash easyimage.zip" step.
Other thing, I don't know what xml file I need to use (flash, flash-blankphone, flash-factory ... )
Here, i'm totally lost. Tab is stuck, And I've no idea what can I do next...
Maybe here anyone can help me ?
Many Many thanks !

Hey @NeedaVirus,
Sorry to hear that the device is bricked. Just this past weekend, I've been sifting through all my old resources because a recent OTA (Yep, a 2020 update!) left both me and my partner's 1050F devices in an unbootable state. You can see we're not alone by checking out the thread on the Lenovo forums (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Androi...Tablet-2-1050f-system-update-2020/m-p/5007166). Unfortunately a large number of the very helpful resources on xda seem to have been redacted/removed over the past few years, which leaves a few people scratching their heads (I was for a while too).
Basically, the way I've always done this on the 1050F (and what worked yesterday again), is as follows:
1. Install the "IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.10.0". Google will find this easy enough.
2. Install the flash tool. Nowadays, "Intel Platform Flash Tool Lite 5.8.4.0" (might also be called Phone Flash Tool Lite v5.8.4.0 and again google will find this for you) seems to come bundled with all required drivers, so it's a simple process to install.
3. Plug the device in and put it in DNX mode. This mode is achieved by holding vol up + vol down and pressing the power button until the device vibrates. When you feel the buzz, let go of power but hold the other two until you see a "Fastboot starting..." message on a black screen. This is DNX mode.
4. Restore stock KitKat bios using the "restore-kitkat-bios-830-1050-v2" tool. This one might take a little finding and I'm not sure if sharing it here is acceptable any more. Provided the device is plugged in and in DNX mode (and you have the Intel Platform Flash Tool closed too), it's just a matter of running the bios restore tool and following the prompts. Make sure the flash tool is running on your local drive (usually C).
5. Once the bios is pushed, we need to restore the stock KitKat ROM using the platform flash tool.
First we need to set up the Platform Flash Tool, so open that and select "File" -> "Options". Under "Flash options" tick the "Force fastboot sparsing" option and select "500MB" for the size.
6. Now, we want to use the "YT2-1050F_S0198_150422_ROW" image and you'll need to extract it first. It sounds like you already have the right archive file for this, which is good because I'm not sure if a copy still exists here still.
In the Platform Flash Tool, hit "Browse" and the file we're looking for is "target_bin\flash.xml". Select that. (Side note: I suspect that if your device has been updated to Lollipop in the past, you wouldn't have had any luck flashing this rom without rolling the bios back first).
7. Put the device into DNX mode again, and the Platform Flash Tool should see it (a "Baytrail" device is listed).
Now it's just a matter of starting the flash process by clicking the button.
8. Once the device is flashed, you'll need to reboot it (via the device) but wait for the flash process to report 100% first. Hitting the device power button is the way to confirm this reboot btw. It might take a few mins to get into Android here. This is normal.
9. Now, the device will boot into stock KitKat. We need to set the region though:
Open contacts, add new contact (only if you have none, we just need one).
Now, using the contact search, enter ####6020# and you'll be prompted to select your region. The device will reboot and you'll need to set a few things up again.
10. Run all the OTA updates to get right up to date. Just do this via android itself.
Optional: Do any other crazy bootloader unlocks, roots as desired. A lot of the original resources have been removed for these processes, but where there's a will, there's a way.
I'm sure there are other shortcuts to this process too. I think tontonfraguer was able to just flash a newer rom directly to resolve his bootloop, judging by his forum post over on the Lenovo thread. This is just the process I use, any feedback/improvements are most welcome!
Hopefully it helps someone being hit by the recent bootloops.
Cheers

Managed to sort it out - many thanks for your guide. One thing to note is the Kitkit restore file needs to be in the root of the C drive and also the file for the flash in my case was the flash.xml file
Glad the post helped you guys out and that you were able to get back up and running. If the post was helpful, why not click the 'thank' button under my post
Hi Hi Hiiii
For those who need the famous "restore-kitkat-bios-830-1050-v2"
HERE'S THE LINK (Personal re-upload) : https://drive.google.com/file/d/13vV6fpNAbWWZUk9_fzmJpMAMax2tlyyB/view?usp=sharing
Be aware that you probably need to do this if your OTA updates Fails :
If system update fails do the following:
1. Flash stock firmware
2. Optionally you can wipe user data (I never did that) from DROIDBOOT
3. Go to contacts manager. Create some dummy contact if list is empty.
4. Go to Search / Find Contacts and enter ####6020#. It will ask you to select country code (first two latin letters, ignore Chinese).
5. Select what you want, then reboot.
6. Go to System Update
7. Install OTA update
(Original Post here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57846051&postcount=233)

Thanks - when setting the country code if you get the 'ERROR : could not read factory ota patch from sd card,or the patch is not correct.' then you need to take the easyimage.zip from the extracted rom folder and copy it on the sdcard (on the root of it not in some folder) then try again (with at least 30% battery level).
Guys,
If someone wants to ROOT his tablet, I can write the procedure. (Many try for me before it really works...)
See ya !

on your screen, attached, at device manager, i can see the driver for intel adb fastboot blabla is not correctly installed, try:
1. restarting windows while holding SHIFT button till it restarts
2. go through advanced restart option and select startup settings
3. when it reboots and offers to select in black-white options 1-8, select wit button F7 the "driver signature.." part
( you are now allowing to installing unsigned drivers )
4. wehn it reboots, INSTALL intel plattform flash tool.exe again and re-install everyting, this time u will see windows pop-ups in red notifiying you installing unsigned extra extra drama drivers, say yes to all of them
5. flash again, using above instructions, make sure to change intel plattform flash tool settings to force flash 500MB
6. go everyting that is instructed above - step by step - through and report, i had exact same problem and solved it remembering the driver-stuffs weirdness on windows, still not a problem at all, just anoying extra steps
