Are you refering to @Malinkutang's post?

I have ported TWRP for the Zenfone Max M1 ZB555KL (X00PD). It is not 100% but should be fine for simply flashing a file. Find it here.

Hi
Last days i rooted my Asus Zenfone 5 T00J with Lollipop. I installed Xposed Framework too, and now i want to experience with modules, but i'm scared about bootloop caused by Xposed, so now i want to install this custom recovery for a nandroid backup.
I read all the posts and i'm a little confused and scared
What's the complete procedure for bootloader unlocking? Is secure? I will lose my files? And especially, it's necessary??
And i read about problems with this recovery, about a kind of 'splash' something, or a kitkat 'white/black screen'? I don't know, i'm on Lollipop and i want to stay there :fingers-crossed:
I want also know, what's right way for install recovery? Auto installer? How it works?
Please be specific :silly:

First unlocked bootloader officially.
Second lookup this two tread for twrp: http://en.miui.com/thread-346365-1-1.html and flasher toolkit for land: http://en.miui.com/thread-346365-1-1.html
Third, after flashing the new rom, remember to disabled dm verification.
Forth, rooting just used twrp to flash superSU.zip.
Done and enjoying.

If an ShopRom is installed, flash first with MiFlash an offical Rom in EDL-Mode = Vol+ and Powerbutton.

Getting back to stock EMUI super easily, almost no hassle

Hi everyone, today I will be telling you all how to get back to stock as long as your bootloader states "PHONE Unlocked" and "FRP Unlock"
You will need to install this, this is super duper important! https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
When installing, you will see the error: "E: Unknown command []]"
DO NOT BE AFRAID!
That is supposed to happen lol.
Installation procedure -
1. Flash this TWRP: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18uHjW73Th8iYKIs5m_QgwleMIOjsZd7S/view?usp=sharing
2. Wipe everything except SD card, then choose "Format data" to decrypt device
3. Reboot once again into TWRP (NOTE: If you are using USB OTG cable, make sure to plug it in AFTER TWRP is fully booted and ready to go, if you do it early, you get an error, which is weird lol. EDIT: Not sure if this error is still present in the new twrp, but it's never bad to play it safe.)
4. Flash HuRUpdater, make sure the file names are correct!
5. Reboot into stock recovery
6. Factory reset and wipe cache partition
7. Reboot
This method also enables themes to work again, so no need to worry about that!
Lots of thanks to @zxz0O0 to providing this awesome tool
And more thanks to the OpenKirin community for helping me out when flashing this! :good::good::good:
hello crayonicle, hehe im on the dot os for now, im interested going back to stock. will i get official updates backs from honor if i go back to stock using this method?
do i need to install the HuRUpdater only as the instruction shows? or follow as the link to the other thread shows?

hi op,
does this work on L24 the usa version?
What update.zip file did you use? can you point to the link?
Also, does this update take the recovery to stock with no TWRP?

Yes, after flashing this via twrp, if you reboot once again to recovery, it is stock recovery, not twrp.

Never flash any file that is not meant to be flashed on your device but the other. I know they are many view-thirsty websites claiming to guide you through the rooting process of pro m2 but they're all fake, even telling people to flash recovery of Mi A1 on Pro M2. These people don't care about those who are new to modding phones and could potentially brick their device. I wish that they get punished for such dirty practices.

After flashing through fastboot. Press and hold power + vol down buttons till twrp logo shows up. And in twrp confirm that "swipe to allow modifications"
I think the fastboot command is wrong
Zenfone max pro m2 runs on android oreo right? For oreo the fastboot command is:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img where twrp is the file name. Try that.

I found and solved the problem. It seems like a combination of cable and USB port version is the guilt.
To successfully flash TWRP on my ASUS_X00TDB, I had to set my computer's USB ports to 2.0 and used the original USB cable to flash. After that, fastboot flash recovery worked like a charm.
The recovery image I'm using is this recovery-unofficial-twrp-3-2-3-0-t3888110.
I hope that helps.
