J5 prime(exynos) custom rom - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

I have been using Galaxy J5 Prime for a long time and it is still fast and capable device. But after updating the 7.0.1 I was unable to revert back to 6.0 It was one of the biggest mistakes I have ever done with this phone. Ever since then I have been trying to figure out a way to solve this but unfortunately I can't. I really really want to use AOSP It doesn't even have to be ,I am sure there are many people who feel the same thing. I have 7.0.1 Nougat update installed and can't go back to any older versions. Please support this so maybe we can fasten the process.

Man you can easily go back to marshmallow that's why he is saying its a joke. Everything you posted is not true.
Download the firmware from sammobile and flash using Odin. That's it

odin is not recognizing my smartphone and I am also saying that this device might be being abandoned by developers who might not even be interested in compiling a resurrection remix rom or lineageOS among many other AOSP

We're probably gonna have to wait for that a bit more. I'm currently on CM12, cause I don't like the stock limitations, so it will most likely pass a few days till they rebuild CM12 and include what 5.1 has brought new, so I'll stick with what I've got right now, which is 5.0.2.
So, we'll see some flashable ROMs based on Android 5.1 after a few minutes, hours, days, depending on how fast the developers move.
EDIT: If you're on stock, when the update comes out, the best move is to update your device through OTA, not with flashable zips.

I will TRY to resist the TEMPTATION to NOT install the lollipop directly when it gets available, maybe wait 2 weeks for other people to tell us if it is better or worse.. especially if it it is Android 5.0 and not 5.1...with said it will be very hard to resist to not install it directly.
Maybe that is for mediapad x2, and new p8 support, those have lollipop. So I dont think we will get update soon.

Let's just hope for the best. They may release the update after mediapad x2 and p8 is out. Its most likely be based on their updated versoon of android. And we may get a better one because they will testers for our update.
What I would like on the update is the tap to wake up function. I don't like using the flip cover. I like cases or bumpers and its easier if you can just tap to wake up.
Guys you really think u will be happy with 5.0 ???
BET with me once it will be avail. and u install it u'll be rolling back !
Did u been considering that u MIGHT NOT be able to root phone ? OR install custom recovery ?? You didn't right ? heh .. yeah
Well .. u might be surprised I just plaing with LG G3 which I had installed 5.0 and 1. There was no possible to root G3 ! only now recently released root program .. so so it is rooted
BUT
Not possible to install custom recovery (only in very difficult long way)
Xposed not working YET only by flashing another dificulty way ..
So no support at all .. devs. keeping slowly up .. but ..
Do u think somebody gonna bother to get all this working on huawei phones ?
Let's see.
But remember once again .. u will be rooling back sam eas I reverted G3 back to kitkat .. no lag at all..
For G3 all it needs is to downgrade to kitkat, instal custom recovery, than flash cm12 lolipop, all of this take max 25 min, not complicated at all.
Maby updating to lollipop will not relock bootloader, so flashing custom recovery will take 2 minutes, and flashing super su trought cwm also take one minute, so we can have lollipop and root very easy. I am waiting for lollipo because CM 12 rom, not for update with emui 3.0 on the top because everything will be the same as now.

You see? u said it by your self DOWNGRADING to kitkat so? whats the point getting lolipop..
And I said that I already downgraded.. to kitkat... this morning..
xposed works on 100% LG G3 tweaksBox , TWRP latest works 100%
NOTHING properly works on 5.0 ...
No mate there is no any unlocking or relocking bootloader.. like in huawei phones... and no there is no any CWM ONLY TWRP is made for G3...
Yeah there MIGHT be CM based on lolipop .. but again with so many buuugs not workings.. so best to stay on 4.4.2 for now..
And u said all be same no point ..
Don't understand what some ppl thinks when they see higher number 5.0 . or lolipop it it is gonna be better... aahh well
From Lolipop i expect only better battery optimization, nothing more.

Seeing that the February 2015 update for the gold version is no longer available for download form the huawei website (italy) maybe we'll get lucky and get lollipop finally.....at least I'm hoping so because I don't care if it can't be rooted etc etc....

Won't happen, TBH.
Not much chance the first LP release will be smooth, you would be best hoping huawei used their brain & made effort on bugfix & improvements on JB & move on to LP once revisions/improvements been done by google team to LP.
I think the biggest disspointment will be a lot of functions that we associate with Lollipop will not be included...
Will we get new multi tasking view ? Probably not.

Will we get Lollipop notifications view ? probably not
http://offoindia.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Lollypop-3.jpg
I think depressingly enough the biggest disappointment will be that it will be impossible to see the difference between current kitkat (that looks little bit like Lollipop already) and the new lollipop release, I think they will mainly try to make it look exactly like the old kitkat. I say this because of the latest Huawei tablet with lollipop, we must expect something similar...
What I hope though is improvements under the hood... Better performance which means better adjusted cpu cores how they throttles up and down..
right now there is microlag a lot...
I hope even faster and more smooth animations (if the GPU can handle it). Right now I have fastest animation setting .5x in developer options, but the problem is with the fastest setting it does not run as smooth as one would wish, but as it is now I prefer the fastness with some micro stutter to painfully slow animations which make me unproductive.
Batterylife I hope it can be improved a little bit even though. The androi system still use more then it should so I think there is potential..but still it is the modem that drains most of the battery...and software improvements can't make much of that .

Did you try to flash back a backup recovery file? For what I've read from here and other forums you can't turn back to previous fw(lolipop) from a marshmallow update... For that I hesitate to upgrade my SATV to the marshmallow
No you can't is the short answer, I tried and failed
I believe the Marshmallow update re-sizes the partitions and that's causing the problems.

The main difference for me is the adaptive storage but I've just bought a USB 3.0 HDD and I'm fairly happy with it, lots of storage and it's not really causing any lag like my SD card did. I have noticed a couple of crashes in the last few weeks which never happened on lollipop but it's nothing that a reboot didn't solve and they're not constant.
If an app doesn't work then that's the biggest issue. If the developer is good then it'll get updated (hopefully) but it's a real pain if you use an app and all of a sudden you can't use it. Only you can make that call if you know an app won't work yet.
The other thing I'd say is if you're happy with the device as it is and don't need any of the features marshmallow brings (let's be honest, doze etc is pointless as the shield is plugged in) then leave it. If it isn't broke don't fix it
I was able to downgrade back to the 2.1 firmware from 3.2. I posted my steps in the 2.1 firmware thread.

Help getting Verizon S7 edge on final beta of Nougat...

Hey there guys. I was hoping to get some help. I have been searching around online and on YouTube but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I have the g935v Verizon variant of the s7 edge. It's on 6.0.1 and latest software updates through verizon.
I just received it and it looks like I missed the boat because Samsung pulled the beta program for nougat but I was hoping to come across something to get that final beta installed on my phone. I don't have a PC, but I have a Mac Pro. Does anybody know how to get the most recent nougat build installed on my phone using either just the phone itself or my Mac computer? I would be eternally grateful.
wait...... when samsung release OTA....(No more than 3 week......)
also ..... there is ROMs development...
Last I heard it would be December and that's come and gone. I don't want to sit around and wait if I don't have to.

Downgrade from Pie to Oreo

I've been trying to downgrade from the latest pie release but I always get the same error due to how Samsung has blocked bootloader downgrades. Is there anyway around this or am I stuck on Pie?

You are probably stucked because you upgraded to the latest bootloader:
After updating bootloader to U5/S5 (as in case of G95xFXXU5DSFB) it will not be possible to downgrade it again to any U2/S2/U3/S3/U4/S4 version

Here's a workaround:
Backup your present baseband on TWRP, flash ALEXNDR Oreo's ROM then restore your baseband, otherwise you won't have mobile signal and your IMEI will be unknown.
So in theory the only way to downgrade to Oreo or less, is having the bootloader unlocked with TWRP right? if not, you're stuck
No Bootloader downgrade. Not possible.

I can't speak for the OP but for me it is more battery friendly, has better perfomance, allow me to debloat more apps than PIE and has better mod/theme support and looks better (didn't like Pie UI).

Quick question for you @nemesisexsp as you seem to know what you're talking about.
I'm in the same boat as OP. attached is my SOFTWARE INFORMATION section with my baseband and whatever. Slightly different to what you've posted on your screenshot.
Can you suggest which files I should use from the ALEXANDR Oreo Mod selection? also, just the ROM, or do i need to do something with the BL files also?
I'm rooted (with TWRP), so that shouldn't be any issue.

I suggest you flash the last Oreo ROM available for the S8 model (SM-G950F/FD). After you flash it you can boot normally in the ROM and see if your mobile signal is fine, if it isn't just restore your PIE baseband on TWRP.
Here's the original post in _alexndr thread where you can find the ROM link:

Because Pie is absolute trash on the S8 Active. Battery life went way down hill, constantly stutters like the CPU is loaded or it is thermal throttling, notification screen blanks preventing you from see any in the bar. Tapping notification doesn't always open. They ruined the camera UI. Control via bluetooth doesn't work anymore(forget the name but used to when I started my car it would automatically open Pandora and play. Instead now I have to unlock the phone and open Pandora manually".
I only wouldn't be surprised if it come out later that Samsung pulled and able and deliberately crippled devices to encourage upgrades. Joke's on them because my upgrade will be a different brand.
