[Q] Question on buying the Mi Note 2 - Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I'm in need of some help. I'm looking to buy the Mi Note 2 international or Global LTE edition but it appears all the sellers in China say that edition is sold out. So I looked on eBay and found a few listed but am having trouble to confirm the item for sale is in fact the Global LTE device.
One seller sent me a picture of the back of the Mi Note 2 box but I'm not 100% certain what I see there is the Global LTE edition.
Here is the photo, is this the Chinese only edition or the Global LTE edition???

I forgot about that and did just check. What I get back is and that tells me the phone being sold is not the Global LTE version.

It seems only the international version is LTE CAT 6... I thought it was the opposite, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 was the LTE CAT 6...
Also, according to this...

The international octa core version should perfectly work on T-Mobile? With LTE and HSPA+ perfectly?
Because if the international version of the N4 this time works perfectly on T-Mobile, then there is no reason to buy the T-Mobile version... International version is Octa Core, plus LTE CAT 6 / 300mbps... Instead of Quad Core LTE CAT 4 / 150mbps...
-> The outcome of this post, will determine what I will buy...
Can someone confirm, or let me know correct information? Thanks...
On the International model your missing Band 2 , 4 , 12 for the lte bands. The specs are all over the place, on Samsung site Att, and Verizon show as CAT 6, and Tmobile shows CAT 4. Even though their all the Snap Dragon version.

All the Qualcomm models will support Cat6, but only the Exynos version in korea will support Cat6, there rest will be Cat4 or just 3g.

So, the T-Mobile version (SM-N910T) showing as CAT 4 should be an error?

FWIW, when I submitted a Paypal dispute for the $5 Elecode, they declined it and stated the code could be kept and used to order the US variant of the P9000/lite in April. They didn't say when in April, but it's almost here so we'll see how accurate that is.

P9000 North American
I ordered a P9000 to Canada. Not sure if it is a North American version or not. Is there a way to verify?
I have noticed as well that my P9000 is only stable at 3G. It will not stay at 4G for more than a few seconds. I have tried with 2 sims and 1 sim. Both sims work in other phones - iPhone SE and Galaxy S3.
Any advice?

Xiaomi don't have all US bands why?

I'm interested to trying out Xiaomi , but seem like they don't have T-Mobile band 12 why? Huawei, ZTE, even the new company LeEco have band 12 and Xiaomi doesn't?
The Mi Note 2 Global Edition does have Band 12.
There are a total of three variants: 4GB RAM, 6GB RAM and another 6GB RAM variant which is specifically labelled as the Global 4G+ variant. This particular variant has the following bands:

any idea from where one can buy global edition phone?

mi mix is available for pre order 637 usd @ geekbuying and 625usd @ibuygou. however they are not global edition not sure if xiaomi has any plan to release global edition of mi mix. current phone edition will not work properly on US LTE network it will only work on slower data network (2g/3g)
XIAOMI Mix would be quite a experimental phone, IMO, better sit and watch how it works first.
Only Mi Note 2 have bands that might work in the US...Mi Mix don't have it....luckily i not from/living in US and i can use the MI Mix without having to worries about bands
Does anybody know what bands supports usual version (not global)? Does it support LTE band 3 for example?)

According to IBuyGou:
Frequency:
FDD-LTE:B1/B3/B5/B7/B8
TDD-LTE:B38/B39/B40/B41
WCDMA:B1/B2/B5/B8
TD-SCDMA:B34/B39
GSM:B2/B3/B5/B8
Also a small note on the Global edition of the Mi Note 2: While it does support Band 12 for T-Mobile, you might not get VoLTE support on that network. Possibly something that one brave buyer may have to experiment and find out.

i Swore I read somewhere they were also releasing a global version of Mi MIX let me see if I can find it ....
who knows i'm probably wrong
Hoping this is the first step in the direction of releasing US based devices. I like the price point and specs.
Both the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and the MIX use a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip though, no? Unless I'm mistaken, the frequencies are locked out only on a software level, not a hardware level - I'm sure I've seen a few threads where people have manually added additional frequency bands to their devices to work in different regions of the world (at the risk of bricking their phone, but that's standard disclaimer stuff).
Wouldn't it be possible to purchase a Xiaomi Note 2 or MIX, and then just 'unlock' the bands that they say are not supported?
I'm in for one as soon as available, not happy after giving up Note 7...that was most awesome device. This looks a lot like Note 7...so I'll bite for 600ish

Just choose global version which supports all bands
For those who are wondering about this phone in the US. I have this phone (Global Edition) and have had it for about three months now. I used it on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon it worked no problem! I had AT&T originally, and it worked fine and even got band 30 in some areas. In my area AT&T speeds were horrible, so I switched to T-Mobile very briefly they had terrible coverage in my area. So I switched to Verizon. I use this phone all the time and get excellent speeds with it. I hope that helps.

Is my Redmi 3s really LTE compatible? Only get H+

For as long as got this phone I have only gotten H+ service dispite my services supporting LTE. I remember the specs saying that this supports LTE.

Not only your phone, but your SIM card should also be 4g compatible. The phone has LTE. And you should subscribe for 4g services.
If everything is present, try changing settings.

The term LTE refers to a whole spectrum of frequencies or bands. You may want to look at this Wikipedia chart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LTE_frequency_bands It's impractical for your phone to support every LTE band, just like it's impractical for your network provider to support every LTE band.
What this boils down to is this: whenever you buy anything, it is your responsibility to ensure it suits the purpose for which it is intended. In this case, when you buy a phone, it is your responsibility to ensure it supports the bands your network provider is using.
[Edit]
FYI, a thread already exists about which bands the Redmi 3S supports: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/help/redmi-3s-global-version-vs-chinise-t3453397

Same problem here with international version. Wanted to test LTE with a prepaid sim to decide if it is worth to change my data plan.
No LTE connection at all. Possibly yet another bug
Edit: It is working now :victory:
Used the sim card in another LTE phone to see if it is related to the sim itself. Worked there without problem. After reinsterting the sim in my phone, it was working there also. Maybe it also has something to do with restarting the phone, but I had tried that before.

Do all versions of the Mi9T come with Band 28 (700Mhz)?

The official Xiaomi website suggests the Mi9T supports LTE FDD: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28. However many sellers have told me that their Mi9T does not come with Band 28. My understanding is that the box itself doesn't show the bands of the phone but the booklet inside the box does - thus perhaps confusing some sellers.
So, my questions is, does anyone have a definitive answer if all Mi9Ts have the same bands and more specifically, do they all come with Band 28 (700Mhz)?

I want to know this same exact question.
Because here in Brazil many resellers don't know if it has or not the band 28 (700Mhz).
Yes the "Mi 9T" version have B20 and B28, 100% sure cause it is written on the "phone's little book" xD
Xiaomi make different phones for different regions with different Bands. We can't rely on their website either. It says that the Redmi Note 7 has Band 28 but the RN7 has 3 different variants, only one of those has Band 28.
My question is whether the Mi9T is like the RN7 with different bands for different regions or whether all Mi9T have the same bands?
Just use the App "Cell Info Lite" in different places. It will show you the current band of your Mi9T.
I got Mi 9T from Hong Kong that came with the HK/UK charger. it has B28. I have confirmed it works.
The MI 9T global device has band 28
I am asking if ALL Mi9Ts have Band 28. Many sellers don't list the bands for the phone and other sellers say it doesn't have Band 28.
GSMA claim that (unlike other phones like the Redmi Note 7 which has multiple variants) the Mi9T only has one variant which has Band 28.
Does anyone know the official answer?

I just got my Mi 9T from TobyDealsAU today, and the booklet says it has band 28, but in the cell info app band 28 isn't appearing... When I put my sim in my Mi Mix 2 it connects to band 28 instantly, bit disappointed...
Maybe it's something to do with MIUI Global, going to try flash Xiaomi.eu in a week when I can unlock it, still disappointed though
Straight out of my instruction manual in the box
1/3/7/8/20/28/38/40
which is not accurate because it supports band4 too. I guess since it's made for Europe they don't list it there. The best way to find out is to check FCC or similar regulatory bodies with the device ID.
---------- Post added at 09:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:02 AM ----------
Ok, I looked up on FCC. Mi 9T https://fccid.io/2AFZZ-XMSF10G
If you look at the LTE reports, it has approve cert for these bands.

I don't know if that's conclusive since band 28 is Asian maybe FCC doesn't test that. Overall I'm guessing this device doesn't support any 700Mhz band like 28 or 12 etc.
