YouTube in 1440p on a Huawei Mate 9 Pro - Huawei Mate 9 Pro Questions & Answers

I have a Chinese version of the Huawei Mate 9 Pro (LON-AL00).
I have successfully rebranded it to a European model (LON-L29C432).
Before rebranding my phone it would play YouTube videos in 1440p. Since rebranding I am unable to get YouTube to show 1440p in the list of possible resolutions.
I'm not sure if it's related to the Google Play Services version or if it's something else.
The L29C432 firmware seems to use the 040408 Play Services version (arm64+arm Android 6.0+ 480dpi) but my AL00 firmware used 090400 (arm64+arm Android 8.0+ nodpi).
I've tried installing the 090400 Play Services version but that hasn't made any difference.
Yes, I do have my screen set to use WQHD 1440p so that isn't the issue.
Can anyone tell me what version of Play Services they are running?
Is anyone else able to watch 1440p on YouTube with a LON-L29 handset?

I also can not play 2k. I have the latest software installed. But I installed the external program "NewPipe" and I can watch movies in high definition.

It was working when my phone was still on the LON-AL00 firmware but no matter what I try I can't get it working now.
Really annoying as I know the phone has a 1440p screen and YouTube plays 1440p on this Hardware.

Search for Google Vance apk on Google and click the first xda link, go to codex in settings and change video codec to s8

Thanks! The only codec option was VP9 (non rooted version) but that did the trick.

Why can't Leeco Le Pro 3 Elite ( x722 ) play HEVC Main 10 tier (/ 10-bit) videos?

I made a small search on some of the forums here and I didn't find anything similar to my issue. It's my first time posting here, so I'm not very sure if this is the right place to open a new thread for my issue.
I am very basicly familiar with smartphone terminology, so please excuse any such misuse or any providing of unnecessary information. I also might be repetitively descriptive.
Phone: LeEco Le PRo 3 Elite (x722)
ROM: EUI 5.8.020S (preinstalled from Bangood)
Software used: MX Player
My issue: can't play videos in HEVC 10-bit (Main 10 profile). Why?
Now I'll try to be more descriptive.
Whenever I try to play a video in HEVC 10-bit (Main 10 profile), the screen colours during playback will go mostly red green blue, etc. I used this website- jell.yfish.us (you can google to see if it's legit) - to download each sample for testing, while using MX Player with the HW and HW+ decoders. What I noticed was that the phone would play without a problem any HEVC 8-bit (Main profile) video from those available in the above site, but it wouldn't be able to reproduce colours normally, as I already said, even with the smallest in file size HEVC 10-bit video. Even when selecting the SW decoder (which I suppose stands for SoftWare decoder?) on MX Player, the phone would struggle a lot and playback would lag considerably.
On the other hand, I have my Xiaomi Mi 5 (Standard), which has the same Snapdragon 820 chipset, but a slightly worse (?) CPU according to GSMArena, while running on a MIUI 9 Global 8.3.29 rom. So, this phone would play flawlessly, again on the MX Player app (HW decoder), almost any the HEVC 10-bit video sample included in the aforementioned website. Only with the exception of those videos with an overall Bitrate over 250 Mbps.
My questions are:
1) Why is LeEco x722 in the above condition, not capable of playing any 10-bit HEVC videos, while Xiaomi Mi 5 is totally able to play them, when both phones use the same chipset, which supports H.265 codec playback?
2) Is there any possible way so that x722 can be able to play these kinds of videos?
Just because a phone is capable of doing something, it doesn't mean it can do it natively. The x722's camera is capable of recording 60fps too, but you'd need to activate the feature with special code (perhaps through a Magisk package). The OnePlus 5 can stream HD footage but can't do it through Netflix unless you mail your phone in for OnePlus to enable Widevine DRM on it.
I don't know any specific ways to get HEVC playback to work, but you could try switching to a custom ROM like LOS.
Install MX Player

Hi! I have the exact same problem - same phone, same rom. Were you able to find a solution? Have you tried custom roms? I'm pretty content with this rom, but if custom rom will fix this problem, I'll look into it.
Try to use genesys 26S, or stock eui 6 rom (4pda link), or search aicp build with working l1, or just try latest los 16

YouTube Videos Not Working on 1440p

Hi, so I just bought a Motorola Moto X Style and on every website I search it says that it has 2k resolution but when I'm playing any YouTube video it works only in 1080p. Anybody knows how to solve it?
I be noticed this in YouTube too. In the past I've had nothing but problems with videos freezing in 2k on YouTube. Maybe they removed it in a recent update so they didn't have to fix it?

1080p 60fps lagging in browser on Oreo, downgrade to Nougat?

I just picked up a new SM-T580 WiFi (United States) with Oreo preinstalled.
I tested browser playback on stock Oreo using Firefox v66 from YouTube.com. Video at 1080p 30fps is smooth but 1080p 60fps is very laggy.
I flashed Resurrection Remix Oreo and found the same behavior.
Some internet searching yielded some reports of people claiming 1080p 60fps video works on their Galaxy Tab A on Nougat-- also I noticed some threads on XDA for Oreo ROMs state that 1080p 60fps doesn't work properly.
Interestingly, an original Google Pixel plays 4k 60fps with Firefox from YouTube.com smoothly!
I have a couple questions:
1. Would anybody on Nougat, Oreo, or Pie mind checking whether 1080p 60fps plays smoothly in Firefox? Please note you'll need to go to Firefox settings, and check "Request desktop site" in order to show the controls to change the quality to 1080p 60fps.
2. Is it possible to use Odin to downgrade from Oreo to Nougat firmware on the SM-T580? It seems some people have had issues with a bootloader mismatch error. I am also confused as to which firmware to select. Sammobile seems to have a firmware for most countries except the United States.
Thanks! Any info would be appreciated.

I have MI Box 3, with pre installed Netflix TV application i can play upto 1080p resolution. Problem is when i install mobile apk to MI Box 3 i can only play upto 540p (960×540) resolution. (Checked with the test pattern episode in Netflix). MI Box is DRM L1 certified. I wanted to play mobile Netflix Application since i want to play US contents using smartdns and use my netflix content based internet package ( With latest version of netflix tv app doesn't support smartdns properly, when i enable smartdns with Netflix TV Application it start to bypass my content based internet plan). All things work fine with Netflix mobile application except the resolution. How can i fix that? Any ideas?
