Also, I've got this update, but can't tell any difference... Probably it will be faster, battery life will be better and so on, but there's no any significant visual changes.

Your phone was unlocked by Sprint or Box ??
I'm asking because mine was unlocked by Box and I'm afraid lock it again by the upgrade.
Actual software version: LS993ZVA.
Thanks any information.

I just found and installed last night. The strange thing is there was no notification. I just manually checked my phone. Not sure if it made a difference, but I updated both the PRL and Profile, before checking for the update. --- Since I only just installed it last night, it's too early to provide any real feedback. The install seemed to go fine. Not much looks different, maybe some finer/sharper fonts, but menu system looks identical to previous version. I may have noticed a very slight lag in opening apps, but that could also be a "placebo effect" from reading similar comments on another site.

I noticed some delays and improvements too

system update available - is this marshmallow?

My wife just got a notification this morning that she has a system update available on her vzw s5. Does anyone know what this is? Is it marshmallow? Just trying to be cautious, she uses her phone extensively for work and I don't want to tell her to accept an update without knowing what it is.
Don't think so. Friend of mine has a note 4 and had the update last week, now his phone will reboot when not plugged in and won't reboot when plugged in. Idk. But I think it's just and update for 5.0.1
I had similar update on my note4 but havent done it yet as not sure to what it was...
Is there anywhere to find out (from vzw) what the update is?

Phone wasn't rooted so I can't say. My wife's work email (Good) does not work if the device is rooted so it wasn't an option.

2 questions:
1. The update notice says that it is a security update. Is this code for "the OS will be even more unrootable?"
2. The messages are somewhat insistent that I update. Should I try to block this? If so, could someone explain how to stop it?

Yeah, same goes for the AT&T version (v520), no root, no twrp, not even barely any discussions.. Smh, if AT&T didn't give it to me for free i'd probably have just gotten a Nexus lol.. At least you can have fun with those..
I was able to get adoptable storage with the update now with a few adb commands
What version is this Nougat? (letter letter letter number number letter, can also be known as build number, not 7.0 - version of Nougat is obvious enough)
I plan on building AOSP for this, but I would REALLY prefer to match the exact version.
And I can't just run the update on my tablet, it's rooted and unlocked and I don't think I know the procedure to relock it.
Never mind, it said 7.0.0-r1.

Just an FYI you don't need to relock your tablet to update. Just follow this guide :

I am pretty sure AT&T just released the Android 7 update. Mine is still downloading so i am not really sure if it is indeed Android 7 but it's a 1.2GB update. I was going to post a new thread to let everyone know who has the AT&T version but i can't as i am a new user
Edit- Yup. Mine is now running Android 7.0 with a December 1st security patch

Hmm, weird cuz mine keeps saying "your device is up to date" and it was last updated on January 10th.. But I'm still on 6.0.1..
EDIT: Also wanna add, I downloaded LG Bridge via a recommendation from another site that stated that was the only way the new update would be accepted, and that didn't work either.. When i click "Software Update" it says, "Cannot check the software version, Try again.", so I guess I'm s.o.l. for now..
I deactivated from AT&T when I switched to Verizon last month, but I still use it on WiFi and it works fine so I'm not sure why it's not working..

That is really strange. My guess would be is it hasn't been pushed out to every device yet. I happen to have checked for updates on the day AT&T pushed it out. Their website wasn't even updated yet when i got it. I wouldn't think deactivating it would cause it to lose the ability to update but i am kind of new to android so i am not 100% sure. I would just keep checking for updates or maybe contact AT&T and see if they could give you an answer. They do have a section in the Device Support to display information about software updates. I tried attaching a link to it but i can't as i have less than 10 posts. You can search on google AT&T software updates and it should be the top link. You'll then enter your device and scroll down to software updates. They do have a Troubleshoot and Resolve software updates page you could check out
Sweet. My fido v522 just completed its Nougat update. No more sluggish keyboard......for now. Lol

Thanks, it actually worked. The only difficulty I had was locating the SD card number. In the video the dude first says type sm lists-disk, however, when you actually look at the video later, he typed sm list-disks. That made all the difference.

I notice Wi-Fi issues on my Fido V522 after the nougat update. It would get horrible wifi speeds with a AC 4X4 (1900) network and frequent network drops compared to Marshmallow.

I dont think that is true, only a few carriers have implemented checks(AT&T for sure) to make sure you are using their sim before they let you download the update. It should not matter by region at all. The updates are pushed by IMEI series and not by geolocation.
I got the update today
Got the notice on my TMO running unlocked code today as well. Has anyone installed it yet? Any issues? How's battery life?

I am using on sprint, installed the OTA yesterday. My experience with battery life has been worse than the beta version I was on.
So is there a way to stop the update? I want to let it bake a bit. I thought I could go into Dev Options and disable Auto System Update but as soon as I got home and on WiFi it started downloading Oreo.

SM-G955U1 Oreo Update Out

I just received my Oreo update for my Unlocked S8+. Has anyone else received it yet? I'm thinking since we have Safestrap and now custom rom support that I'll cancel the update and wait for an AOSP rom.

I was on T-Mobile but switched to MetroPCS two days ago. (Same network)
It's true... I am on Sprint with G995U1 and I am currently downloading a 1354.14MB update.
I had to check for it, but it found it and downloaded it. My phone is unlocked. Update applied without issues.
Loving finally having the auto fill API.
Just checked my software updates for the first time in weeks and there it was! Unfortunately they're working on our electrical system, so I won't be able to download it until WiFi is back up, but it'll give me time to back things up.
Factory unlocked running on T-Mobile
Can anyone confirm if Hotspot remains functional after the update without carrier involvement.
Thanks

Just remember, that means if you take this update, no changing firmwares unless the other carriers jump on board. Not sure why they are still updating the bootloader at this point anyway.

Yes, and Beware!!
A (or 0xA) = 10 in Hexadecimal notation
I'm on AT&T and took the new firmware - G930AUCUACSF1 and now I cannot use V9 Engineering kernel to root.
And I cannot switch to G930U firmware since that newest version stops at V9 bootloader.

Not until (hopefully) the G930U comes out w/ new version w/ Bootloader V10....
Cannot downgrade due to Samsung imposed restriction.
Are you finding the new version to have issues?

There are no issues in the latest update though tons of bloatware is what is bothering me.

I used App Freezer to freeze all the bloatware and it's cleared up my app screen greatly.
You need to ADB into the phone to set permissions for the app, so that's a bit tricky, but worth it.
Hey, check out the latest firmware that lvpre upload to his google drive (his thread is here It's the only one I've found that has allowed me to to change to 930U with v10 bootloader. Sorry, brand new to the forum, don't know how to make links work
