I want to flash back to ls993 firmware after flashing the H873 oreo kdz - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello everyone, I just got this G6 ls993 with stock firmware Nougat on 29th May.
Then I went through some of the thread and found there is the way to flash different stock kdz to change the model.
And as you know that H873 has released its oreo stock kdz weeks ago, can't wait another day to use the new oreo system.
So I downloaded H873 stock oreo firmware and force flash the h873 kdz to my ls993. So far everything works well.
And of course, my phone model was change from ls993 to H873 with the new oreo firmware as well, then I just realized LG has released its official oreo for ls993 on 31st May...
I regret why I couldn't wait on the Nougat for 1 or 2 more days, otherwise I would be able to just ota to oreo as a "ls993" rather than "H873".
Now the question comes, is there any chance that I can flash ls993's stock Nougat or oreo?
I've been searching for the ls993 stock kdz for a while , but seems LG hasn't released any version of stock kdz for lsd993 yet and not sure if they were already on the way to do this either.
There may be probably no official stock kdz for ls993 , so what should we do to flash back to its stock model?
Hope anyone who is suffering the same problem can help to get it solved.

So, obviously, you are pretty much scr3wed right now. Flashing different model's .kdz was HIGHLY unrecommended.
First of all, you can try repairing software using LG Bridge on your PC. I don't know how this works but that piece of crap reflashed my phone with branded carrier software that was originally installed on my phone and I had totally different firmware flashed... it still managed to recognize my device and punish me for debranding my device.
So try this in the first place, LS993 firmwares weren't released by LG as stated here down in the comment section.

I posted a thread on LS993 asking if someone could make what the guide say and try to save the KDZ from a ZVA version ,but no one has replied. And when I found that guide already flashed my phone to H873.
Its a shame that people dont wanna help

Thanks for the advise, seems the only way is to wait for LG to release the stock kdz for ls993.
Anyway hope it will come some day...

I don't think they don't wanna help.
All ls993 users are in the same situation,
1. There is no kdz for ls993, so no one can do a fresh restore to the stock firmware.
2. No root or TWRP, there is no simple way to restore the system.img to ls993
Let wait for LG to release the kdz for ls993...

I have some new findings at https://www.needrom.com/download/ls993-7-0-tot/
As shown in the page, it is a LS993 tot file, however, seems current instruction only work on kdz file and there is no instruction for tot.
I know that tot file is also an img file with all the system partitions, it was used for flashing the stock firmware as well as kdz file.
I've successfully downloaded the file from mega and its size is about 6G after extracting it from the zip file.
So looking forward if anyone is familiar with tot file flash and seems this should be the possible way that we can flash back to ls993.
Thanks.

Please Help for me.How to force flash H870 firmware in Ls993
How I force flash H870 firmware in LS993 help me Now.

I am in the same boat. I ordered my phone on Amazon used because it was selling cheap. Curious i wanted to see what the modding community was doing for this phone so i looked into the phone itself. I checked to imei and it said my H873 was actually an LS993. It is running the H873 Oreo rom H87320c rom. Can i do the i update or am i screwed for now?

I bought one of the Amazon AS993 phones as well (was labelled H872 on site). Will H872 kdz flash successfully on this and give me the Volte calling with Metro/T-Mobile? I have the phone online with metro now but the firmware is set up for Brightpoint network without Volte calling and native video calling. I do understand the imei will conflict with OTA updates, but will H872 flash and work like it should on this hardware - all components appear the same.

Correct KDZ File for Root Help - H990DS

Hi all,
I recently purchased a brand new, factory sealed, LG-H990DS from Amazon.com in the US. From all the documents that came with it, the unit is from LGE Singapore. However, my firmware is v10f_SEA_XX rather than an SG version (I understand Singapore versions should be _SG, correct?).
Now, I want to downgrade to an earlier security patch (Currently June 1st, 2017), so that I can root the phone and hopefully enable VoLTE (I have it in Quick Settings but it's grayed out and I can't toggle it )
I'm confused about which .kdz to use... there's a bunch of SG and TWN ones, but won't that brick my phone? I already bricked my first H918 (T-Mobile) one by somehow flashing the wrong T-Mo .kdz (in hind-sight I should have checked the md5 sum). I know H990DS is a lot harder to root than TMO so I'm kinda scared. I've rooted/flashed on many, many phones, but the H990DS seems to be the most tricky.
Thanks for your help in advance!
I've got H990DS too and managed to root it.
I am using this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/dirtysanta-h990-t3624296/.
But I've got November 2017 security patch, so I got to downgrade to earlier firmware using this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/restore-v20-to-100-stock-bricked-devices-t3524903. I use oldest firmware available, that is v10b https://lg-firmwares.com/download-file/?fileId=4345. and currently stuck here with 10b. currently figuring out how to update to the latest firmware using KdzFlasher
Hi Boxy52, I have the same phone, the KDZ file you need is (https://lg-firmwares.com/download-file/?fileId=5196) version "V10c", with this you can begin the tutorial writed of the described above by the damadikaz, after you can upgrade the firmware up to version V10h on tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/tool-kdz-writer-t3649818...
Hey damadikaz,
So to confirm - it doesn't matter which region I flash - I won't be bricked, correct? My only concern was if I flashed the wrong region. But if all H990DS firmwares work with eachother, I shouldn't have an issue other than bloat?
Thanks!
boxy52
Hey pkrename,
You have the SEA firmware as well right, so I've got a question - do you have any bloat ware? Mine has none! My phone shipped with V10f_SEA_XX and I have ZERO bloatware its amazing because I've heard everyone else with SEA firmwares was stuck with a lot of bloatware. Do you think I've got some special version of the ROM? Just want to make sure that I'm indeed on the same ROM as you.
Thanks!
boxy52
Hi Box, Sorry I'm late, about the firmware bloatwares, I have no problem with them ... at least in my firmware I do not have many bloatwares other than google.
For anyone wondering:
First try the TWN series of Firmware. My phone came with TWN-10C (December 1st Security Patch) so I was able to root straight out of the box. I still use the TWN firmware today (except the latest version as displayed in my signature) as this is the cleanest of Firmwares I've found so far. All I had to do was use Root Uninstaller to uninstall a few Facebook/Instagram/other apps that came with the firmware and that was it.
Secondly, the SEA/SG (South-East Asia and Singapore) firmwares are the same, as seen here
Hope this helped

How to roll back to the earliest version of ROM? (LS997)

Hi,
I got my LG V20 (LS997) today, and I decided to update it. My phone took couple of updates till it reaches the last one. I decided to root my phone then, but I was failed to do so. I got to know that I have to roll back to the ROM which has a security patch before Dec 2016. There are a number of guiding threads here, but the phone is my phone is not rooted, so how am I going to flash those files? Also, LGUP doesn't detect my phone at all. I don't know why.
I think the latest version has anti rollback =1
So you can't rollback.
And there is no root for the latest version of sprint variant of lg v20 as I know.
Lg patch dll
There is a patch lgup dll file that can flash go to the main forum and you will find it

Ahh, so normally you would actually be able to do a rollback, so this is just one more of these Satanic things to make it hard for the user to do whatever he wants with HIS device. I was so sad when I updated to the latest version as it seemed the mobile overall became slower. So had I had the option I would have rollback in an instant.

H910 (ATT V20) oreo update manually, help needed

Can you please guide me how to manually update my AT&T v20 to be stock not rooted oreo, my h910 is stock never touched, not rooted of version h91010m which can't get updates as it is unlocked and am not in US.
All i want is just to update it manually to the stock oreo software.
Thanks a lot

Use this to root.
Instead of flashing the 10v att image like the last step suggests, use the 20g Oreo image instead

Thank you
Thanks a lot for the clarification...
i have read more, i believe this rom will let me stock oreo so am worried i can't update the phone again in case of future updates.
is there a way to update in future? Also is there a way to change the software from h910 to h915 so that i can recieve ota updates normally in future?and is it safe as am afraid to loose signal or brick phone etc...
Thanks a lot in advance.

After you flashed the 20g Oreo image, it will be stock as if you took the ota update itself. You'll be able to accept ota updates after words. Follow the root thread, amd you'll be fine

The problem is i can't recieve ota updates even i am stock, it is AT&T restriction because my phone is unlocked am using other network (am not in us)
ota updates need to have a working AT&T SIM inserted in phone. It is very stupid policy for AT&T.
So my question now is, is there a way to convert h910 to h915 safely? Because Canadian operators allow ota to unlocked phones...
Or is there a way to manually upgrade in future after i upgrade to stock oreo?

why are you worried about updates when you can't take them now ?
Yes you can convert your phone to 915 it's the first step in the rooting process
if you want to stay 915 use the H915 Oreo KDZ > https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/h915-oreo-kdz-link-t3826812
If you want a H910 on Oreo use my zip. If another update comes along their will always be another zip (provided we get root and TWRP for Oreo)
In case i will just flash the h915 oreo kdz, should i flash all partitions? Including modem, bootloader, etc...
Is it safe? Because in the guide it say i will loose the signal after flashing h915...
Also Should i still root first or can just flash directly?
Also is it safe to get future ota updates when software is for h915 and treat my phone as if it is h915 from the beginning?
Many thanks in advance.

You flash all partitions for non rooted stock which should work like normal with everything working.
My guide is for those trying to keep root intact so to preserve the dirtysanta eng aboot so there are problems with data at the moment.

I'm in the same situation as the creator of this thread, I can not update my phone from OTA
Assuming I do this to update. Would Android Oreo be rooted? Could I enter TWRP ?.
Since If I do this procedure and update my phone to Oreo and I don't have root or chance to get into TWRP . I would be stuck until there is some way to root the phone (if it comes into existence)
PS: I bought an AT&T sim card from eBay, but I couldn't activate it. Do you guys have any idea if the sim being activated I could update my phone despite not being in an AT&T network?

Just to clarify this statement a little. If you want to run Oreo now, you can't have root. However, you CAN downgrade back to Nougat and root when we finally have the Oreo + engineering bootloader issues worked out.
The US996 will be getting Oreo eventually, and that firmware is what is going to allow us to have rooted Oreo on models that use the engineering bootloader.
If the US996 wasn't getting Oreo, then I would waste the time trying to get things sorted out -- but that is just a waste of time.
We have waited for Oreo this long, waiting another couple of weeks isn't going to hurt.
As a final statement, I have had a chance to play with Oreo on my H910, and I am NOT impressed. What a ****poor, crap job that LG has done. It may get better with future updates, but I wouldn't bank on it.

I remember reading earlier this year about how LG was going to reform their mobile division, getting better at software updates and halting/slowing down the typical release schedule of phones.
Seems none of that has happened as far as I can tell, especially the software part. What a farce.
finally i updated my H910
i managed to updated my H910 by simply flashing the oreo H915 KDZ file with patched LGUP and it seems very good... signal is ok no errors so far except one after rebooting phone
ARB is still zero.
thanks a lot for all of you

Why do you think US996 getting Oreo helps? What if the eng aboot can't initialize the oreo modem properly (maybe intentional change)? I have a thought, maybe we can try if the stock nougat aboot, say H910, can boot the Oreo with data? We could flash everything Oreo stock and just leave the aboot nougat. Since signatures are still LG, it should boot up? And if it still can't have data, maybe eng aboot can never initialize properly, I don't know.
Questions about the H910 --> H915 Conversion
I have read several different postings on how to change the H910 to H915
I read the posting by runningnak3d and I am bit confused.
Sorry for the noob questions
1) If I flash H910 to the H915 v10e kdz, do I have to continue the steps to flash to oreo or can the phone be updated from OTA?
I really don't want the AT&T logos on my phone and I don't need my phone to be rooted or need dirtysanta.
2) Would flashing it with LG UP be enough to get Oreo?
3) I'm confused with the steps after downloading terminal emulator? - Do I need to do these steps if I want to keep the H915 Rom?
Sorry if my questions are dumb.
Thank you in advance.
Much appreciated

you can do as i did, just flash H915 KDZ Oreo file directly using patched LGUP and select to Partition DL all partitions.
you will have stock oreo H915 fully functional phone, there is only 1 error message that will appear every reboot of phone but will not make any harm.
there is no any issues or problems i have noticed so far, also the software seems more stock than AT&T version.

you can simply use lgup to backup your current setup (not userdata)
and use lgup to flash the 915 Oreo kdz
Note: someone said that converting to 915 caused google now to stop working but everything else was ok
if you want to return to 910 stock you'll have to do the root procedure and flash h910 10q or 20g back to stock rom from TWRP

A slightly different question about the H870S. I have one purchased in Australia from a big retailer in 2018. I have been checking for the pie upgrade but nothing has come through yet. When I looked up the details for the phone via the IMEI, I got the following:
Model: LGABCD
Region: ABC
Which seems kinda strange because there is no region ABC. The last update I received was sometime last year which was OTA and it says 1 May 2019, kernel version 3.18.71 build number OPR1.170623.032 Software Version V20o-AME-XX.
I was thinking I could use LGUP to upgrade to pie but I don't know which version of software to load. The OTA is saying there is nothing new available and LG Bridge is also saying there is nothing new available.
Ideas?

Just use H870S .kdz file instead of H873.
P.S. please backup your data because after downgrade hard reset must be performed because of bootlop.

reporting. mine is kt korea telekom model G600K. successfully downgrade pie to oreo. downgrade because overheat and battery drain issue on pie.
the steps in the link work. but in LGUP, need to select 'refurbish' option instead of 'upgrade'.
of course, using the corresponding kdz file available at https://lg-firmwares.com/
Update 2: now back to nougat from oreo

Korean G4 F500 S/L/K with Stock Nougat 7.0 Help & Tips 2019!

Hello LG fans,
There is an old thread with a similar title, but since it is inactive I started this one. For certain reasons I got this G4 phone only few days ago. The model number on the box and under-battery tag as well as in settings showed F500 (just F500 without any suffix S, L, or K). It came with Android 5.1, and everything was working well. Online search showed that F500X phones can be officially updated to Nougat 7.0, but the phone OTA update said no update was available.
As per LG website, I installed LG Bridge to get the updates. It identified the phone as F500K and found two updates. First it installed 6.0 Marshmallow and then 7.0 Nougat software version F500K30c. Also the model no changed to F500K in settings. I think this probably means it is is a refurbished phone
The Installation was successful, but it installed a Korea Telecom version with some Korean stuff. I uninstalled or disabled all the Korean bloat I could without root, but there are still a few things remaining, and some Korean language here and there.
In general, I’m quite satisfied with the phone. The only thing I wish to get rid of is the KT Wifi manager app which is all in Korean, and I don’t know what it does or which settings to select. It is a system app, and I can’t uninstall or disable it, but my wifi and data networks seem to be working fine, so no complaints. I’ve seen several people here and elsewhere complaining about network issues, boot loops and bricks, but so far I haven’t experienced any. I hope it stays this way :fingers-crossed:
I was wondering about the other variants F500S and F500L, do they also have Korean bloat and is it more or less than F500K? I have read somewhere that these three firmware variants can be interchangeably installed. Is this the case, and if so, is it advisable to install another variant? I have been reading about this phone, but this is my first time to use an LG phones, and I have no experience with their software and tools, so any help, ideas or suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

You could
downgrade to MM,
backup with SALT (CRUCIAL important),
unlock by UsU ,
extract with SALT: system ,modem and boot partitions from a f500 kdz,
root and debloat or (if you like to) install a custom ROM
Check the UsU and SALT threads (you can find both in my signature)
Sent from my OnePlus 6T using XDA Labs

Thank you @steadfasterX for your reply,
It's quite an honor the Guru himself was the first to reply to my post. I have seen many of your posts and replies in the forum before, and now looked at some of the stuff in your signature. Pretty impressive work. I definitely need to spend some time learning about them particularly SALT and FWUL, as I have also started learning and using Linux lately. How come FWUL is not shown on distrowatch?
For the time being, I was thinking to stick to stock Nougat 7.0 as it's a fairly recent OS, and the phone is fine even with the remaining little Korean stuff. My main dissatisfaction really is with the mysterious kt wifi manager app which is all in Korean and has some settings which I don't know what they are. If just replacing the current Nougat 7.0 with another variant S or L is actually possible, and these variants don't have a similar app, this would be great.
I have been searching for information about these S/L/K firmware variant differences but couldn't find much. I hope other S & L phone owners could tell us about their phones. The only thing I could find so far is that each is for a different carrier in Korea, and that they can be interchangeably installed as per a Reddit post. I don't know how reliable this information is!
From a purely technical perspective for G4 F500 , is it possible to flash another F500 variant using LGUP, or is this something that shouldn't be done? I have seen many people getting in trouble for flashing wrong firmware. If this is safe to do, do I need to do any preparation work like downgrading to MM first, and should this be done as an upgrade or a refurbish? For what it's worth, my ARB value is 0.
Thanks

Hi Sfx,
1. to downgrade to MM... use uppercut, right? I'm using latest 20u for F500l is OK for UsU?
2. after backing up with SALT, can I revert back anytime after unlock and with new custom ROM?
3. after rooting, do I install twrp and load custom ROM? and can I extract 30b Nougat's modem from KDZ to use with the custom ROM?
thanks so much in advance for answering...

Because they are ignorant and/or just arrogant enough to ignore my requests. I even offered to pay advertisements as this should be (according to their website) a way to get listed instant. but nothing. Even not on the waiting list..

ok so one thing first. the most important one: Ensure you keep your ARB at 0. This is crucial important. So never ever flash anything (including QFIL restore files!!!) where you are not 10000% sure it wouldn't increase your ARB.
If you are about to flash a KDZ then check that file with SALT first (simply press extract and it will display the ARB). If you flash anything else.. well ensure that the files offered have that information listed and hope and pray its not wrong (e.g. there are QFIL files around which are labeled for a ARB 0 model but contain ARB2 files..). Never heard about a wrong labeled KDZ file but who knows.
The second important thing is (maybe its even the first): before doing anything, do a full backup with SALT (basic is fine) and (!!) move that to a secure place! (I saw so many ppl who lost their backup through several ways).
So when going on through the UsU process you will have 2 SALT backups: the one before downgrading to MM and another one after you downgraded to MM (tbh the more important one). If you can keep them both.
so about flashing other variants: yes it IS technically possible to even flash e.g. h815 ROMs to a F500 and so converting it that way! but never try that with h811 KDZs or others..
anyways yea you could flash other F500 variants without fear (just carrier bloat is different) as long as you follow the above advises.

1. I dunno the latest MM F500 version but "20u" sounds good. Can't help in the downgrade process but there are plenty of guides here in the G4 forums.
2. dunno that you mean here.. but if you wanna know if you can stay on STOCK after UsU'ing yea sure. flashing UsU does not require to go for a custom ROM. It just gives you the freedom to do so.
3. if you follow the UsU guide you will have TWRP already and that's the place where you install a custom ROM if you like. Sure extract the 30b modem and flash it in fastboot should work fine (after UsU).

Thanks sfx, I'm now on MM and ready to get SALTed I want to flash AEX v6.7 But there are two offerings H811 and H815, and my F500L in SALT say GPT compatibility is H811 /ARB0, so do I flash H811 version of AEX?? If so, is there a H811_UsU_baseband_flash-in-twrp I need to flash as well? thz

if you would flash h811 on yours you will increase your ARB so do NOT flash that.
Use a h815 based ROM even when SALT compat shows different. your partition layout is somehow weird..
for non-UsU ROMs flash the f500(!!) baseband package once
