Seems too good to be true! What are the cons of the phone? - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

Spec wise this beast is exactly what I've been waiting for, AND I see roms for it. It seems just...too good to be true... So what's wrong with it?
Is the speaker garbage? Does it explode? Does the camera work once and never again?

Cons : Charging time , sound output through Bluetooth and 3.5mm jack .
Pros : Battery life , screen , stock android , build quality , average cameras ( for the price one may consider them good ) , speaker is actually one of the best in this range .

Well charting time I don't worry about too much, and as long as I can use my USB DAC then that solves the audio problem.
Does it have all the bands for LTE on T-Mobile?

No dual band Wifi. I kind of understand if that's important.

Batter transmiter and TV-Out FM?
If you have new questions, you should start a new thread! Especially when no tags are applied to your thread (thus making searching awful :-<)
What do you mean by better transmitter?
In this device is FM transmiter
It can be transferred on HD2 ?
navitel.su/devices/navitel-nx5300/
Nope, no FM transmitter, there was a debate about it b4 but no luck with it
In my opinion our HD2 is the best until now, it would've been the most perfect unbeatable device if it had....
- 2ry camera (front) with video calling
- TV-out
- FM transmitter
- TV-out option
- more mAh battery
i would never ever thought of changing the phone as long as it's alive and kicking!!

All greetings I too so thought earlier but on our sites in Russia too walks информациция apropos fm the transmitter so I think soon it will appear.
Excuse for bad transfer I use the translator
actually the BCM4329 does have FM tx. It's more a matter of no software being available to take advantage of the hardware the device has. Than again, they got the rx working under android (and I think I heard somewhere that the n wireless band was working on some builds, so ya never know. It would be a sweat feature.
any news?It s really nice to unlock features that are there but was disabled by manufactures... 720p recording,fm tx,wifi n,and i ve readed something about the camera from 5mpx to something like 8mpx ( at least limited in quality to 5mpx)

Hidden features in nexus one?

I got my nexus one exactly 1 week ago, and this device is amazing! I unlocked it and installed the cyanogen mod the day after i got it, and Iam really impressed of the results all you developers out there making theese custom roms happen.
I'have read on the internet that nexus one hardware has a fm recciver and transmitter + N wireless capable chip.
And its not even mentioned in the phone's spec list(i've hard it was at lauch, but was removed short time after), is this because there is currently no software support that they wont advertise the features?
Or is this just hardware which is on the phones chip because its just how they make them, and the features arent nesseseary availble to the phone.
Any ideas? or status on this?
Sorry my english is not very good + Iam a newbie =)

802.11n works with the stock ROM, but it's only at 2.4 GHz (the phone doesn't appear to include the necessary antenna and RF components to work with the 5 GHz band). It's also only single-stream N, so you won't get link speeds higher than 65 Mbit. Maybe they didn't advertise it because it's only marginally faster than 802.11g, and generally the phone can't even saturate a G connection. In theory, you may get slightly better range with N and perhaps slightly worse battery life. I don't really know why they removed it from the specs shortly after launch.

Probably both. Some minimal extra hardware or connections may or may not be necessary to fully use the FM radio functions. But a Google employee (Swetland) stated that the main reason it wasn't included was because they didn't have time to do the software integration, and it wasn't a priority.
Thanx I would love to have a inbuild fm transmitter, that is just sick, I dont think any other cell phone have this working. We just need be patient and hope for best I guess

there are many many cell phones that have FM receiver and transmitter. the nokia n97 has both an FM radio, and also you can turn on the FM transmitter to play your music thru your car's stereo by tuning into a frequency, and your phone will broadcast to that frequency. actually the nexus one is missing this function when a lot of other phones have it! mainly high end nokia phones.
Don't count on the Nexus ever getting FM transmission capability. It does not have the FTC's stamp of approval for such a feature. FM receiving may be possible some day, but that's up to Google to write the necessary drivers and programs for it.
Or if it is possible maybe Macodo can port it from the desire rom like he did the camera. I'm just saying maybe..
-Charlie
The FTC denying the FM Trans was a joke..... The feds are so paranoid with cell phones and cars I find it hard to believe they will be approving many more FM Trans in cell phones..... Receiver....well, I search this forum everyday waiting to see the post with the "Flashable .zip to enable FM Radio!"
/me is willing to say we'll have FM Radio *SOON*
FM radio is great, i guess it use less battery power than internet radio over 3g.
I do have a FM transmitter in my car but the quality is kind of ****ty, the car i use at work dosent have any input or aux plug to the stereo.
Since we're on it, what do you guys think the future will bring the nexus one? or wish list?

It may never come "officialy" for the nexus, but if they're working the aosp code future phones, then it's just a matter of devs flipping a switch instead of having to write code from the bottom up.
Nah, you don't, they say that to get the best reception, but you can do with out. Look up N900's fm capabilities to transmit/receive, you can do it without a plugged in antenna/headphones.
Just as aside for people wanting FM transmission with the Nexus One - a FM transmitter with a 3.5mm jack only costs around $5 (Australian Dollars) from ebay, and you can pick them up in stores for about the same price. Obviously not as convenient as having it built in and not having to take an extra accessory around - but I would assume you wouldn't want to use it in too many places anyway. Say the car, maybe a stereo at home and thats mainly it?
i don't need a transmitter as much as a receiver.

I want help before buying HTC desire hd

I want to buy HTC desire HD but excuse me I want to ask 2 questions about it 1st
and I want your answers plz..
I heard that this device has poor speaker and also headphone quality and loudness compare to devices like Iphone 4G and HTC desire and samsung galaxy S and I want to know if this true or not ?
and I want to how long DHD battery last ?
hi.about the speaker it doesn't sound very loud.for the battery i think is the most weak point of the device.you can run out after 12h.anyway we know that is the disadvantage of smartphones with big screen.
the speaker max volume is a 1 notch less than the desire, but its still fine, the quality a bit better than the desire (cleaner) the supplied headphones are ok but the quality with other headphones is very good, you can boost it with SRS option which really gives a nice bass
as for the battery, being careful with your wifi connection, sync options and screen brightness the battery will last you 12-14 hours under heavy use and up to 1 and half day in light use
Ive not had issues with the speakers, little quite at some points but its a phone.
In terms of the battery it depends how much you use it. If you never touch it and leave everything off or leave the phone off I imagine it will last some time. If you never put it down, have everything syncing all the time, consistently playing games, i imagine very little.
thanks for your answers but is there any way like application or software update to make DHD speaker louder or this problem is hardware problem ??

There are some "solutions" available for that speaker issue but from wht I've read it's still kind of crappy
This seems to be a descent phone based on everybody's reaction and the fact that HTC has run out of them quite often.
I don't have any sound mods on my DHD, I use a decent pair of Sennheiser in ear buds and at full volume the sound is loud enough to make you want to turn it down. As for the speaker it's not loud, but it's not quiet. The quality is much better than other HTC phones I have owned(or any other phone for that matter) and I've had five or six.
I was planning to buy this phone but crappy sound, bad battery life, lcd instead of amoled, init process lag made me change my plans. I guess I'm gonna wait for LG star.

The sound is fine, there is no init lag once you activate USB debugging, and I think it's just an issue with stock ROMs.

the sound quality of the headphone output is good, but a little thin sounding.
the battery life is a mixed bag. the 3g uses a HUGE HUGE HUGE amount of power (my battery ran down to 50% after 3 hours in a poor 3g reception area)
now that i have switchpro i can turn 3g off and the battery is now at 79% after 13 hours, 21 minutes. that gives a predicted life of 52 hours. this was with half an hour of phone calls, 6 missed calls and 22 text messages.

I dare say you have poor headphones, I spent £50 on mine and the sound is very good, I use them for watching films and the bass and treble are very balanced.

lol, i have ultrasone HFI 780's, £170 headphones and a dedicated headphone amplifier costing £250.
all i was saying is that its not going to beat a dedicated MP3 player any time soon, but its not far off the iphone and itouch.
The speaker is ok but i dont go around playing music on loud speak, i have got Dr. Dre Beats Tour and with SRS option at full volume is just amazing and i use the Dolby option when watching avi movies.

[Hardware] HTC HD2: Project Evolution

This is my newest project. It's basically a way to greatly improve the already great HD2. The plan is to take the hardware of the hd2 and put it into a new housing to increase functionality.
Goals:
front facing camera
better signal
front facing speaker (why in the world would you ever want to turn your phone around to hear it)
camera lens protection
bigger battery
wireless charging
kickstand
camera swivel
looks
a breath of fresh air for the ever so aging HD2
Achieved:
front facing speaker
kickstand
proximity and light sensor repositioned
evo 4g lte housing (chose this because the device can stay slim and pocketable while still adding new features)
2300 mah battery
Problems:
No More Front Camera (due to needing the phone to actually charge)
with the extension of the micro usb and headphone jack, it makes it nearly impossible for the camera to swivel back to rear position
removable battery door
Future Plans:
make a primary hd2 docking station complete with external battery speakers and keyboard (idea thanks to xyntaxis)
So what do you think of this project? I am open to any suggestions or support.

i had an idea for that, but that would require changing a lot of drivers and kernels. If we can our best bet would be to either get a higher clocked qualcomm s1 from something like the titan, or wait for wp8 and upgrade to an s2 through s4. Unfortunately, for now that's just a half baked idea.
edit: remember the main point of this thread is to change the look and feel of the hd2. the internals aren't really being touched. btw, i'll have some pics up when i get the proper housing. when the pics are up i'm sure there will be a better understanding of this project.

I don't know much about this stuff, but wouldn't the larger battery and front facing camera already require new drivers + kernel changes? Also, I think if anything needs to be improved it's the GPU, not the CPU. Once again I have no clue how this works and whether or not the GPU and CPU are somehow dependent on each other so if this isn't possible then I guess there isn't much that can be done about it.
I support your idea all the way though
This thread is kinda science fiction. You can't simply change CPU or GPU because they are SoC. Any hardware change require massive talent, knowledge and time because we don't have detailed schematics for hardware and software so you would need to reverse engineer it.
Thoughts are good, but it's too hard and time consuming IMO. Good luck though, I'll be watching this thread
Pics or didin't happen

I was hoping for this feature in Pie aswell since there were many articles in the internet saying that it should be possible to connect up to 5 devices at one time. But it seems like there is no way to get this running .
