Galaxy S i9000 Camera Black-Out Issue - Help

Hey guys,
My dad has an i9000 Galaxy S and there seems to be a really weird issue with it. He was using the phone's camera and was capturing some pictures when suddenly the screen distorted and since then, the camera hasn't been working. All I can see is a black screen, the camera app opens up but I see nothing but black, buttons on stock ROM are un-touchable, whereas on ICS roms, we can fiddle with the buttons but they don't work. Even the front camera doesn't seem to be working. I have a HTC Sensation and am soon getting the Gnex so I have no idea about what happened with this phone.
Could you please help me out?
Thanks,
Arz
I'm having a similar problem. I've tried reflashing back to stock, wiping, resetting, etc, etc... but nothing seems to work.
Can't seem to find a solution here either. Anyone have any ideas? Might it simply be a hardware fault? Front camera seems to work fine (well as fine as that crappy camera can work)
The exact same thing happened to me.. Just try this:
take off the phone's back cover, and start the camera app.. Keep it on for a few minutes.. Does the area around the camera heat up?
It it does, accompanied by sudden battery drain perhaps, your phone's camera module is fried.. Has to be replaced.. I had to do the same..
I'm experimenting the same problem. did you guys resolve it?

Slowness

I just want to gauge the performance I'm experiencing off against other.
I recently put the Daedle Build with the 2.6 kernal
For me, there are some intermittent freezes. Sometimes when in the app list but often from the front screen. I've almost the same apps as I did when I was on another ICS
Is anyone using this setup and if so, how are you finding it?
Thanks

Some problems in cm11

a GT-I9500 device and I just installed the newest cm11 nightly version.
I noticed this few problams:
A. Overheating most of the time.
B. Battery drains very fast.
C. Camera doesn't work.
I know that those problams are familiar to everyone but I wonder if there are ways to easily fix at least the first 2 problams... Maybe there is a better kernel?
Please help me
I also have a probelm with the front facing camera. The standard camera is working.
Underclock your cpu to 250-1200mhz. This will dolve the heating and battery drain issue.

Use this apk to solve the camera issue. Tap it once and start google camera or any other camera app.

[Q] Any way to fix camera without rebooting?

Hi, like many others I also have problem with camera on my S5(G900F). Reboot helps in my case, but after a couple of hours camera stops working. Is there any way to fix that maybe using shell or something else, just without rebooting? Thanks

Yes, but with no success
Do a clean wipe cache from recovery n see if ur occurring the problem continuously
Seems that Viber cause the problem. They fixed that in latest update. After updating everything is ok with camera..
I was experiencing same issue, camera was just black with no response and when this happened phone was getting hot and one core of CPU was always at full speed, thus battery was draining way too fast.
I noticed that it has stopped doing that lately, I'm also viber user, so it might be related to the update, anyway I'm happy that it finally is fixed :good:
