SM-T817A | AT&T Variant | Update | Stock Firmware Nougat 7.0 | May 1, 2017 Patch - Galaxy Tab S2 General

So, here I am, a junior member of XDA that tries to make his first article (it indirectly means he can't make this article in the Android Development section since is still a junior one)
I just bought this tablet a week ago and I found out that the android it came with was so old (Lollipop 5.1.1), so I searched through any android forums that I know in order to update this tablet to its latest firmware (Nougat 7.0), but I could not find one, even after I searched it in XDA, which in my opinion is the most comprehensive and reliable website to look for anything regarding Android. Not only that, but I also saw in some threads that there were people like me who had this tablet, but they still stuck with the old stock firmware.
So, without any further ado, let's do it!
SO FAR, I CAN ONLY CONFIRM THAT THIS CAN (ONLY) WORK WITH T817A VARIANT
First of all, make sure to BACKUP ALL OF YOUR DATA because the method of the update WILL DELETE ALL OF YOUR DATA
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY KIND OF THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO YOUR DEVICE
PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK
First, let's download the Odin software
https://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.13.1.zip
Second, download the AP, CP, CSC, and BL firmware of the T817A which are available on this website.
https://combinefile.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=folder&id=9448 (THIS LINK IS ALREADY INACTIVE)
Please download the four required files above through my Google Drive (please feel free to share them with anyone!)
Samsung SM-T817A | Nougat 7.0 | May 1, 2017 Patch | AP, CP, BL, and CSC files - Google Drive
drive.google.com
Third, extract all of those in one folder
Fourth, open the Odin
Fifth, put your T817A in Odin download mode (here's how to do it, first of all, turn off your tab, then push the home, power, and volume down button at the same time)
Sixth, connect your tab with your computer (make sure you are using CAPABLE AND RELIABLE MicroUSB) and ensure it is detected by the Odin software afterward
Seventh, click the AP button in the Odin software and choose the extracted AP firmware (the same goes with the CP, CSC, and BL)
Eighth, click start, now your tab is downloading the software (DON'T UNPLUG THE CABLE, OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE A BOOTLOOP)
Ninth, now the tablet will restart, and voila, congratulations! You just updated it to Nougat 7.0!
IF ANYONE HAS ADVICE OR ISSUE REGARDING THIS ARTICLE, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO TELL ME
Hit that thanks button if this article helped you!

I know this thread is old, but I'm looking for a stock Nougat 7.0 for galaxy tab s2 SM-T817A. I've looked through the tab S2 forums and couldn't find anything except for this post, only problem is one of the file downloads is broke. The AP file only gets to 1gb and fails, it's a 1.5gb file. I've searched the internet for days and can't find anything for T817A. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

I am also looking for this rom.

Hey mate, sorry for the really late reply, i have been inactive at XDA lately, i have tried the link and it still works, my suggestion is please check your internet connection and storage, and then try it again. If it still doesn't work, i will happily upload the AP file in Google Drive for you!

A quick tutorial on how to flash the new Rotohammer roms (these have no bootstraps)

Ok here is a simple tutorial for any new to this tab stuff like I was yesterday.
I take no credit for this just wanted to help compile an easy solution.
It is so simple once you figure it out.
First download Odin v1.7 here unzip it and stick it on your desktop,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=478059&d=1293895557
Then download these files.
http://files.deodexed.com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/Rotohammer/JME/
These zips need to be unpackaged to get to the .tar files. Pay attention as Winrar will see .tar as a .zip too. (read the file extensions or you can't select them in Odin.) Stick the 3 files (pit, modem,FmInsSD) into a folder on your desktop. (You no longer use the "Jme-hidden" file shown in the pic.)
Attach your tab to your computer, if you have windows 7 the drivers will be installed for you. If you don't you'll need to get them from here.
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...G_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.3.350.0.exe
launch Odin v1.7(if you get an error about some missing .dll file then you need to install the Microsoft .Net framework)
It should look like this once configured correctly:
MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU ADD YOUR FILES-THE TAB IS PLUGGED IN-YOU WILL HAVE A YELLOW COM BOX CIRCLED IN THE PIC IF IT IS CORRECTLY CONNECTED AND READY TO FLASH.
ALSO YOU MUST HAVE A BIG TRANGLE ON YOUR TAB WITH A DIGGING ANDROID (to do this power up the tab while holding down the down volume button)
Looks like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
LOAD THE FILES AS SHOWN IN THE PIC THEY ARE CIRCLED IN RED
MAKE SURE REPARTITION IS CHECKED THE OTHER BOXES ARE CHECKED BY DEFAULT-LEAVE THEM HOW THEY ARE.
ONLY IF YOU HAVE EVERYTHING DONE. (DOUBLE CHECK)
HIT START
Do not touch anything or use your computer it takes about 5 mins to reboot your tab to the kies sync screen.
your done enjoy!
HIT ME SOME THANKS IF THIS WORKED FOR YOU.
Nice work.
You might want to specify that this is for gsm only as many may not be aware.
I on sprint so I guess I have to wait but it's good too see this kind of work being put out there.
Thanks

Thanks for the tutorial ianandamy,
Where did you get the jme-hidden.tar? I found the hidden.pit from your link but no hidden.tar.
Oh...and what is the difference between v1 and v2?
Hi Guys,
I'm from austria and have only one question: since i have flashed my tab to jm6 and higher, the bootloader is protected and it's not possible to go back to stock (in my case: hutchinson 3g austria).
now i have flashed to roto's jme, it work very fine! but he's writing, that's possible to go back to t-mobile stock (usa), no matter the bootloader was signed (protected) before flashing or not.
is there also a way to go back to others stock arround the world??? or is it only possible for t-mobile usa-users? thanks a lot!

I doubt it. You either flash custom firmware and enjoy it, or sit in front of your computer hoping/waiting for Kies to update you
I think XDA has provided way more updates than Kies so far.
sorry, i am not able to find the CMC file, where can i download it ?

+1 to Roto's answer. Kies reads your firmware version when you connect the Tab and will only offer you an update if it recognises that there is an upgrade available for the firmware it sees on your Tab. This generally means that if you have flashed pre-release firmware which has development / test codes it won't offer you any of the official production upgrades (or any upgrades usually!). It is possible to fake your Tab's signature in Kies to make it flash official releases over dev/test firmware, do a search on the Samsung Galaxy S forums for how to do this.
Don't think so. So far kies have give me 2 updates. It work amazingly. Now is smother. Just my opinion.

Sorry, i'm not fluent in English, and want to be sure to understand: what means "stock"? Is it a "normal" rom, without any phone operator modification?
stock ROM means it's an unmodified ROM from manufacturer (in this case from Samsung) that is exactly the same as u would have gotten fresh off the factory. No modification from programmers or developers or phone operators, just the original samsung stuff.
Thanks a lot for your answer. That's exactly what i'm looking for.
Is it safe to flash the latest version available simply with odin or i have to do something else before?
Sorry haven't visited xda for quite a while, Does this include boot image? I'm coming from froyo? Is it okay to flash this to a froyo custom rom?

Yota flasher download

Hi everyone,
now that the YotaPhone is so cheap I ordered one for myself. I'm trying to get all the tools together to update it to the latest version which apparently is very easy with the official yota flasher. Unfortunately I cannot find a working download anywhere - the official one is down.
Can someone please upload the flasher tool? It would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Can't connect phone to flasher
Hi I have downloaded the flasher and the new firmware. But when I try to flash the phone, I don't seem to be able to connect the phone to the PC, even when it is in "downloading" mode. The flasher just says "waiting for device".
Any advice is much appreciated!

You probably have to install the drivers first. You can install the drivers by navigating to the Yota Flasher Driver folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\yotaphone_flasher\Driver\Google) There you will find an .INF file. Right click on the .INF file and click install.
Still cannot flash
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I tried that but somehow the INF file did not install. I obtained the drivers from another source and installed them but still not able to flash the phone. Same message as before. Any ideas please?

Thanks a lot... there really is no way to get the yotaflasher from any other source.
But i still cant find useful rom's.
I just found a 4.4. kitkat and i am not sure if i really wanna try it out? Now i stuck in a bootloop on a 6.6 as i could figure out. I never saw it working, just got it with this bootloop issue. For free therefore
I hope i gonna get the thing working but its nearly impossible to find some not so dead links.
Even Yota removed all useful from their ftp's.

Thanks alot bro again I have a question do I have to start by installing lolipop and then flash with Marshmello in order to upgrade from Loli pop to Marshmello or I can directly flash with Marshmello. The current version I am using is having some issues it's saying process.system has stopped working
Hey @kimstar sorry for the late reply, I don't have this phone anymore and I don't remember very well. But I know there was a post in the forum explaining how to go to Android 6. I think you could flash it directly. The option of going to the Android 5 (Russian version) and updating I guess is not longer available as the servers are probably not working any more.
Good luck!

Telstra Australia Launched SM-G977B S10 5G

I haven't seen this listed anywhere since a search for this model number brings up nothing.
The Australian stock is the model SM-G977B
Its an Exynos version with the old UFS and the model given as part of the free upgrade promo (when you preordered the s10 plus), is a 512GB black variant.
I can't see much development being done for this since obviously no one has this model, but I'd love to be able to root it.
Hopefully more people will get this phone, and some dev can start. If there's anything I can do to get the ball rolling, let me know!
Root
Hey mate, I have already achieved root day one of receiving my device from this offer , I am by no means an advanced developer but technology is my passion. The process was simple due to it being the same process as topjohnwu already published. This is the official page for the instructions by topjohnwu which do work: topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root. If you struggle at any point feel free to reply. I will be posting this in the development threat for others so there aware.
As for TWRP, thats a different story, I have tried flashing TWRP from the s10+ and hoping it would work but it did not which was to be expected. So I am attempting my own build of TWRP by modifying the s10+ TWRP to match the s10 5G. Mind you I have never compiled TWRP or Android. I have mainly tinkered with iOS on apples hardware so no promises I'll figure it out nor that it will be bug-free but if I do manage to find it I'll post it for another developer to maybe check and fix.
But root is definitely possible as of now,
Happy rooting!.
Hwy thanks for that.
Do you still get updates? I've never rooted without a custom rom before?
Also, do you use exposed? Edexposed or virtual exposed? It's the main reason I want to root
Lastly where did u get the boot image from?
Thanks
Hey mate, over the air updates I believe do not work. To update you'd need to download the latest firmware and repatch the ap file. But I haven't done this. There is a forum post somewhere outlining the process though so I'll try and dig that up.
As for the exposed framework I haven't tested that out nor have I used it before but it is something I wanna dive into. The last time I tinkered with Android was years ago where exposed wasn't a big thing. But I have seen users state they've got it running from edxposed or something like that from the magisk add on panel. So I'll give it a try now and report back to you.
As for the firmware I cannot upload any links as I'm a new user. But if you shoot me an email [email protected] I'll be happy to send you the link I personally used.

Few days ago. SamFirm, Frija have error when getting Samsung Firmware. Tool return error 200/401

I am just a technician but I using SamFirm everyday for my project
And when I try to fix SamFirm myself from a Remade open source named SamFirm-continued. You can check it here
https://github.com/lulindev/SamFirm-continued
and I think maybe someone like it and bonus functions what I added
So today I introducing SamFwTool
SamFwTool check and download firmware direct from Samsung Firmware Update Server. Firmware are official.
SamFwTool have not any background services (only auto check update), no startup and install required

Play a short sound when download finish. I think its useful
Auto notice when there are an update
I will update
Auto extract firmware

More check version source for new models
... and more if you have any suggest
And I put a small link to my website if you want to download older version or download direct with IDM and max speed. My website is free to use. So do not worry!

Hey, Amazing work there, i used the tool and works fine. I just wanted to post something to bring this thread to people's notice. Thanks for your hard work.
This is a good tool to use (Frija is good too). If you manage to keep this updated as and when Samsung changes things on their side this can get popular too. Thanks for the work.

I tried to install but after unzipping it - when I attempted to run it, an error message sdaid something about not having the correct path or authorization to run....not sure what I am doing wrong? I do have the Microsoft stuff installed that you mentioned - and have never had an issue with older versions of Samfirm....let me know what I might be doing wrong.
Thanks
I tried to run it, what are you supposed to put in the Region field?
Tried with SM-986U (Note 20 Ultra), and the usual suspects for USA (TMB, SPR, VZW, USC) all came back not found.
EDIT: Also tried with SM-N986u and SM-N981U , no dice. Got "authorization failed" there, which is weird.
Awesome work. Many thanks. I have been trying to make frija work since 2 months to no success. Finally this worked as intended.
