so HTC 10 Verizon's wifi connect is not as good as HTC 10 Tmobile, Unlocked ... - Verizon HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I am using a HTC Verizon 10 has unlocked bootloader, soff and run rom us unlock 2.41.617.
However, the network connection of the wifi is very weak. Just one door is almost impossible to watch Youtube, speedtest download / upload is only 0.5Mb / s. I have tried to run ruu to android 8 version 3.16.617 but still can not improve.
I know the ability to catch the wifi of the HTC 10 is not good, but previously I used two HTC 10 Tmobile version, they are better wifi connection than the Verizon is using a lot, the current HTC 10 is really bad.
Now, what should I do with my HTC 10? Should I run ruu about the original Verizon rom? Or is it a hardware failure?
sorry my english not good

You are using a T-Mo ROM and firmware on a Verizon device and it's not working? Doesn't that alone answer the question? Run a Verizon ROM and firmware and see how things go. Verizon software is 605, not 617.

Using the HD2 on ATT?

how would I go about using this device on ATT. I have this device with android currently and am waiting on an email with an unlock code. But I am not sure if it would work with the android build on it. Should I go back to stock and unlock it then load the android back on? Any suggestions?
It will work completely fine. There will be no issues outside of the lack of 3G. BTW, wrong section.
It should work
It should work fine, but if you got the T-Mobile version there's not gonna be 3G connection, only Edge. I'm currently using a T-Mobile HD2 with Android with Claro Puerto Rico and I can't connect to the 3G network apparently due to a difference in hardware.
Android works very well with some little issues. I really love it and prefer it over WinMo 6.5.
Hope this helps you clarify things.
BTW: I think this post is in the wrong section.
Edit: I think someone beat me to answering you LOL

Not a problem. I had Android on my HTC HD2 when I was on ATT. The unlock code they will send you is linked to the IMEI number and not the build on the phone. You will find that whatever Android build you use, the IMEI number on the phone will not change. When you do go to ATT, you will not have 3G available but only EDGE. It is due to the different bands/frequencies used by each carrier for 3G.
ive been doing it for nearly a year with the tmobile hd2. it works the same as on tmobile. but the edge speeds are 25kb/s down/up. max, which it may seem slow but you only notice it when your downloading something. casual broswing, gps, etc was always pretty quick. plus its only 10 bucks a month for data.
then if your feeling froggy. get the t9193. its a telstra hd2 and it works with att 3g speeds on the same $10 data plan. i get 250 down and 70-120 up on it. but the price sure detracts. not to mention the aging hardware.
bottom line, just do it. you will love it.

[Q] Can I lift AT&T limitations from my Legend?

Hi all
I have an Legend AT&T that I bought on Amazon last fall.
The fact that it is AT&T branded means it demands that I have an AT&T data plan in order to use WiFi tethering. This is annoying to say the least since up here in Iceland we have no AT&T. I have contacted HTC and they confirm the phone is open and onlocked. AT&T customer support tried its level best to assist me in "unlocking" the phone with out success.
Can anyone tell me how I can get out of this predicament. I also have an ASUS Transformer that I was hoping to connect to the internet with the ATH Legend.
This restriction also means that I can not get updates for the phone since it wants to connect to AT&T for all that.
Please help.
Olafur.
WTF are you trolling or something? You're probably also one of the unluckiest people on Earth as AT&T (US) never ever released the HTC Legend. It was rumoured: http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/04/htc-legend-coming-to-atandt-according-to-fcc/ , but never.
I'm sorry, but can you try telling us what you did to try and resolve this issue? Most importantly, what interactions did you do with any Icelandic carrier to reproduce the problem? Posting any error massages (EDIT: messages*), or more stories about what you tried to do would definitely help.
Nevertheless, I'm going to try and dissect a problem from your post. You want to activate HTC's Wi-Fi Hotspot. You can't get any updates for the phone. Put those two issues together and you end up with Android 2.1 Eclair. I want you to confirm for me that you have that (Home > MENU > Settings > About Phone). Because if you do, and if I remember correctly, back when we had the Legend on 2.1, and were harassing violently HTC for a Froyo update, we never had Wi-Fi Hotspot functionality unless we rooted.
That's all I can gather from the information provided.
Do me a favour, check at your phone's box and tell me what model your Legend is. Is it A6366, A6363, or A6365? If it's A6366, you have an HTC Aria, not a Legend, and it's a phone NEAR-IDENTICAL to the Legend that was sold down south in the United States on AT&T.
I also have another ridiculous AT&T theory. See, Americans down there sometimes refer to AT&T as Ma Bell or whatever. Bell, (Ignoring the "Ma") could stand for Bell Canada, the carrier IN THE COUNTRY BORDERING THE UNITED STATES that actually carried the HTC Legend. Yeah, it's ridiculous, but who knows? Your Amazon dealer, I'm sceptical of his service now.
Lastly, I'd just love for you to know that whether that phone came originally from Bell in Canada, or AT&T in the States, it won't work on Iceland's 3G bands. Even if you manage to resolve this issue, you won't be able to run on 3G networks. Only the newer HTC devices (starting with Sensation, I believe) are able to run all 3G frequencies around the world (except the Canadian + American AWS bands, only the HTC Amaze can do that). So if you ever manage to get Wi-Fi Hotspot running, you may only use it on 2G EDGE or GPRS, which is painfully slow to browse the internet. You could probably ad-hoc with your Transformer or something, but that's beyond my help.
Good luck!
Love, Bryan from Canada

HTC Inspire
Hi. For some reason my reply seems to have gotten lost. I will repeat.
In the interest of simplicity I called the phone mine, it is my wife's so I do not have it with me. You are absolutely right, this is not HTC Legend, it is HTC Inspire. The OS is version 2.2.2 (I am more or less sure) and because of no AT&T account none of the software that came with it can be updated. The phone does have the WiFi hotspot option but when I select it the phone complains that I must have AT&T data plan and leaves it at that. It does switch the WiFi off even if it can't activate the Hotspot. So, the option is there but she can't use it to connect her Transformer to the net. This is a really strange shortcoming. Why would AT&T care about what plan she has? Without the Data Plan she would just have to pay dearly. That would just be her desicion.
We have done nothing to get the phone to work. It connects to Icelandic carriers without a problem (yes, 3G as well) and without errors of any kind. I did assume the phone was locked when I turned it on for the first time and purchased an unlock code. That code I never used since there was not unlocking required.
I am not sure what you mean by "trolling".
Thanks,
Ólafur
Ok considering your situation you should root it. The process is very simple. It's a one click root.

Here's a video to help: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...m6DWCA&usg=AFQjCNEDETg2nq8rDBQWfKvlh9APF40fiw
It will root, unlock, install clockwork mod recovery, and superuser.
After that flash a rom. I will say I use the Rom called "Android Revolution HD 6.3.1" and can hotspot when ever I want, even without the AT&T account.
Video for that is here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...4dTCCA&usg=AFQjCNE6rGAT6Z8pN9omO8UshYbzAup5cQ
As always I take no responsibility if you brick your device, or if you damage your device in anyway. Hope I helped.
HTC Inspire.
Thank you very much. I will root the phone.

Just a FYI for the hotspot to to work you will need a new Rom. But as I stated in my post above, I use Android Revolution HD. It's a very good Rom. Please if I helped, hit the thanks button.

Yes, avoid any ATT branding with any new ROM you choose. For future reference, use the dedicated HTC Inspire/Desire HD forums here on XDA to assist others, assist in development, or seek assistance.

Should I leave it as a Verizon variant or convert it?

Hello,
I just moved back home to Guam a few weeks ago from Colorado and I am wondering how I should go about getting service in Guam.
After I pay off my Wife's and I services with Verizon I want to try and connect it with the carriers here. To my understanding, after I pay Verizon the early termination fees etc, the phones should be unlocked*carrier unlocked*?
The phones in question are the HTC 10*mine* and S7 Edge*wife's*, we spoke with Verizon before we left, they told us that the phones are unlocked already and wouldn't have any issues using other carriers.
Should I change the HTC 10 to the Unlocked variant is this even possible? I've read about unlocking it to T-mobile or ATT etc so should I leave it and see what my local carriers can do or should I get it in an unlocked carrier state?
Before we left I used a Sprint variant of the M7, lots have changed since then, I didn't have to do anything to change the MID etc, I was sorta gimped on Data connection, but that was a few years ago, NO 4g LTE, but now the local carriers are on it.
Thanks for your time
If you stay with Verizon, keep the stock software. Also you're already sim-unlocked.
If you change to a GSM carrier, not sure the VZW software will work or not but you can definitely "convert" it to the U.S Unlocked version. That's the easiest/safest way since both phones have the same MID. You'll need S-off ($25).
I am S-off already.
Would being U.S unlocked be a viable option to not have issues trying to connect with local carriers?

First, great info above me. 2nd, you could actually go ahead and superCID and run latest 1.96.617.20 US Unlocked RUU. I'd say the best method is to try them out, RUU or firmware. If on a custom ROM and say chose VZW, you'd have to flash again and chose US unlocked. If you are on stock ROM then I'd try and see if it works as vzw says. If not I'd flash The Us unlocked firmware (modified for vzw you may need the radio.img and cardio.img that is normally removed). Best of luck my friend. I hope all goes well!
Will I have issues flashing viper after SuperCID?
OR should I go down to my carrier and try my luck as the device stands?
Thanks a lot!

No issues at all. Supercid, basically makes it so you can flash any firmware and other things like RUU from other carriers like us unlocked -- (so make sure you know what you're flashing!!!) .
I'm not sure of your carrier or what they'd say. I'd honestly play it by ear and see what happens. I have faith that with the 10 you will be able to get everything working; although I can't say for sure.

I'm using a Verizon phone flashed with Unlocked ruu on a GSM network. The conversion improved the phone for me. Better reception in my area, able to connect to more lte bands, txt msgs come/go faster, and the initial connection to the network after boot up or getting outta airplane mode is much faster since I got away from VZW stock software. Also you get OTA updates as they become available, and you don't have to deal with Verizon's worthless software modifications like no battery saver mode, Wi-Fi notifications, etc if you're gonna stay stock.
Flashing the Unlocked firmware is your best bet. The only thing I'll add is that if possible find out what bands are being used by the carriers over there, and see if its compatible.
HTC 10 Unlocked Band Support:
LTE Bands FDD 2,3,4,5,7,12,13,17,29; 2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE - 850/900/1800/1900; 3G UMTS - 850/AWS/900/1900/2100; LTE - FDD - B28/B12/B13/B17/B29/B20/B5/B4/B3/B2/B1/B30/B7.

Okay I am trying again now...
It's going further than it did the other time..
It gave me error 155 and 170.. even with a full battery...
So I can just RUU the U.S Unlocked version and and try and use the radios, if not I can just flash back the VZW RUU with no ill effects?
SuperCID to 11111111....

Nothing preventing you to convert from VZW to U.S Unlocked, as long as you're s-off. I'm running Unlocked Oreo on my VZW variant.

Non us HTC 10 to sprint network

Hi, I made a mistake and bought a new non US unlocked HTC 10. I tired to hook it up to sprint with no success. My ultimate goal would be to make it work normally on Sprint network.
I have done a lot of searching, and it seems like I can unlock the phone, flash sprint ruu, and flash radios to make it work on sprint?
Can I clone my original sprint HTC 10?
Or am I S.OL.?
I would appreciate any help and guidance with my mission, or if it's even possible to get this phone working.
Thanks!!
Did you ever go through with this? I am interested in upgrading to an HTC 10 as it has the form factor (what is with the trend toward giant phones?) and features that are otherwise unavailable in any of the current crop of unlocked Sprint compatible phones. It seems like the only new HTC 10 models still available are the unlocked version. I understand that this method works for Verizon, but I haven't yet seen confirmation on Sprint.

use Unlocked HTC 10 evo on T-Mobile USA

I bought the Unlocked HTC 10 evo (not the Bolt) to use on T-Mobile.
Reading more and more about it, I am wondering if this phone will connect to T-Mobile's LTE bands (main bands are 4 and 12, and also has 2)?
Does anyone have experience or know if this is possible?
..if not, I'm thinking of returning it before I even open it! :crying:
Searching for anything that might work to get LTE working with this phone on T-Mobile, I found this thread to unlock LTE bands on an HTC 10
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/unlock-lte-bands-t3375736
I also found a YouTube video of someone unlocking the LTE bands on an HTC One M8 with Verizon:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01MuaqJQZm8
Would any of these work for the HTC 10 evo?
At least anyone know how I find out?
Hi, I bought two of those same phones to try on T-Mobile. They are not reliable on Tmobile's signal at all. mostly giving me a line through the bars. I have also tried them on Walmart's TotalWireless plan, with no success (that's on Verizon). YMMV, however. Really disappointed, as they are great phones, otherwise.
