Help me to force data only to 3G - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Recently bought a used(6 months) OnePlus 2 - 2003...I was really satisfied with the performance and huge 4gig ram. I use only a single sim, which has 4G. I used the sim with a Nexus 5 until the phone die, but I have never had any signal issue with that phone. In y country not every area has 4G coverage. I currently have Oreo resurrection remix rom, latest build. In my home town 3G, 4G coverage is at it's best and even on 3G coverage I got decent amount of speed with Nexus 5.
The problem is OnePlus 2 doesn't give the slightest speed that H+ is capable even while I'm on 4G. speed is about 500kbps max with 4G. If I chose WCDMA Preferred, from the service menu, it does show H+, but I can't surf on the internet. I'm very disappointed with this phone now. If I were to go to an area with no 4G, It won't get data connection turned on no matter what I do. I even flashed latest OOS 3.6.1 firmware but no luck. I went back to OOS 3.6.1 and it's the same, cant' switch to 3G data.
Man I don't know what to do now, I don't get wifi all the time when I'm away from home. Is there any way to disable 4G and just use H+ or 3G?
I even changed the band in service menu (*#*#4636*#*#)
Also flashed the latest lineage 15.1, CM 13 and no matter what I do
I also tried couple of other sim/ISPs but no luck
Please Help me

Use Network Signal Guru app(root needed). In app, select LTE band lock and deselect your LTE bands(depend on your carrier) use for 4g and exit. It will prevent your phone from connecting to LTE band. Enable the band again to get the LTE.

g2 from AT&T to T-mobile, won't connect automatically to LTE

HI, I just switched from AT&T to T-mobile. Everything basically works, except when I restart the phone, it connects to 4G only without LTE. Likewise when moving out of wifi range to LTE, i get 4G. However, if I go to Networks Operators and "Search Automatically," it connects to LTE immediately. Is there way I can get it to connect to LTE every time? I live in a area with excellent LTE coverage and I don't wan to have to constantly go and manually do the search for networks.... Thanks!

Mate 8 Internet Issue with T-Mobile

I am really sorry for post duplicated, but I have only 5 days to return this phone which I absolutely love.
However this Internet issue is really bothering me.
I just bought my Mate 8 with build number NXT-L29C636B103, but I have been experiencing mobile data issues with my T-mobile carrier that only when I get 4G symbol, I can go online. Whenever I am getting either 3G or H+, I can not connect to internet at all.
I have tried my wife's T-mobile phone, at the same location, her phone will get 4G LTE, my phone will have 4G, whenever she is getting 4G, I am getting H+ or 3G, which I can not go online anymore but on her phone, it still works.
Is is because of the version of the Mate 8 I am getting or the setting is wrong, please help!!!!
Probably wrong settings. Check your apn. And also make sure your phone isn't set up to just LTE only in the phones hidden menu
Update the software also and then check access point settings and set manually.
I check the updater, but there is no new update at all.
About the APN, I have copied exactly the same setting as my wife's S6, but still this issue.
Basically, whenever I am getting 4G above the bar, I can go online, no problem at all. But whenever it comes 3G or H+, my internet completely dropped!
I don't have that problem on T-Mobile with the NXT-AL10. I can be on one bar of HSPA and go online. There are two things possible. You have a bad phone with a bad radio or T-Mobile is doing work in your area and that's why you have no internet on anything other than 4G. T-Mobile was like that in my area two years ago until they upgraded. I would think it's the service. Try turning off VOLTE and LTE Cat 6 CA and turn on Data Roaming and see if that fixes it.

I was actually trying to help out on this issue, on another forum as well. One thing we discovered is that the settings for LTE Cat 6 CA are not on the L29 model.
Dumb question but you aren't using a metal case are you? Any aluminum case will degrade wifi and LTE to the point where it might switch over to HSPA+ due to poor LTE reception.

I have the L29 model. On T-Mobile, I was getting 3 mbps down and 1.6 mbps up. So I tweaked it around and enabled Data Roaming. Now I am getting 15 down and 9 up. Much more reasonable.
Recently had a similar issue. I copied over the apn from a tmobile device and that was the issue.
Try the 2 apn setup that should be default when you reset apn.

I have T-Mobile and it works fast but do yours say "4G" instead of LTE too?
Sent from my HUAWEI NXT-L29 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Any updates on this issue? I'm still getting extremely slow mobile data speeds.

Signal problem theory/research

Hello, i live in a relatively small town where my service provider has very poor 4G signal. but pretty good 3G signal. With the Axon 7 i have a lot of signal problems that i didnt have with any of my previous phones, where outdoor signal is pretty bad and indoor signal is almost unusable. It also connects almost exclusively to 4G, and in contrast all of my previous phones connected almost exclusively to 3G. Over the last weekend i traveled to a major city where my service provider has very strong 4G signal, and the signal problem was almost non existant. I even had signal in places where other people with the same service provider did not. So my theory is the following, assuming that the hardware (antenna) used for 4G and 3G is the same, it may not be a hardware problem, but a problem with the software having a hard time knowing which band/signal it should connect to. It seems that in my case it prioritizes 4G signal and the cost of a VERY unstable cellphone service. This is also assosiated with the fact that when it connects to 3G (incredibly rare), the phone goes inmediately from 1/2 bars to 4/5 bars. I also changed the SIM configuration to leave LTE out, but either for a visual bug or a software bug, it keeps connecting only to 4G. So could this be the problem that me and a lot of people in low 4G signal zones are having? Is there anyway i can force the phone to connect exclusivly to the 3G signal to test if that is indeed the problem?
Regards!

Without knowing which model Axon 7 you are using, where you are using it, and who your provider is, there is little anyone can do to help you. All I can say is that it helped me A LOT to go into settings and turn off
VoLTE.

U model last update, using it from Argentina, and the provider is Claro. I have LTE disabled in SIM confg as i already said and VoLTE turn of as well but the phone keeps connecting to 4G no matter what i do, even if i configure it to only GSM
I don't think its a matter of position or provider (version could be if different software is provided), but a general issue with the phone and band/signal interpretation coupled with the apparent innability to go off 4G
Refards!

ok when it connects to LTE it says "4G LTE". The 4G that you are getting is probably HSPA or something. And we had someone on here a few months back using Claro in Argentina and they had to seek answers from their Claro

If "4G LTE" is 4G and "4G" is HSPA, when only a "G" appears, what band am i connecting too? Its still pretty weird that im having major signal issues in my town, but when i go to a big city my signal is even better than other phones, it seems inconsistent with the whole "bad hardware" theory. I talked to Claro and it seemed like from their end it was a non issue, can you point me to the thread to see if he got it fixed somehow?

/Trolling a bit/
I'm always LMAO when I hear US people talking about that 4G scam (which is H+ for real btw)
G is for 2G
E is for 2G+
3G is 3G
H is 3G+
H+ is 3G++ (an intermediary protocol up to 42MBps)
4G is LTE (up to 150Mbps in the EU most of the time)
4G+ is LTE-A (which is available in most of the EU, SK & JP) - up to 600Mbps, 200MBps in most tests
I've not heard of an app that could modify the way the phone "clings" to 4G LTE, since that might likely be the modem firmware doing it on its own.

Then this is even weirder, because is G is not 3G, but 2G it means that the phone NEVER connects to the major band that all of my previous phones and Claro users connect to. Is there anyway to force to only connect to 3G?
Regards!
i have the G european model, in my town i have bad lte signal 1/2bar, when with my previously xiaomi mi4c was got 4/5 bars (maximum). In the big town i have got in the most of cases 4/5 bars. I think the "signal problems" are relatives of a lack of somehow software. i told this because i've read with the china model with the last updates an improvement of the signal reception of the phone.

You can however force a specific protocol indeed, but you will lack the ability to autoswitch networks. Just download 4G LTE Switch (here) which is a glorified secret code dialer. Just click on prefered network and change at your convenience (4G LTE only, WCDMA only - H+ - and so on). Remember that if you force 4G LTE in an area in which you have no coverage, you won't have internet, and no 2G/3G fallback (so no texts, no calls)
I don't know if this is the same problem, but my wife has an iPhone 6+ and I have an A2017U on B29 stock root. We both use the same network (Movistar Mexico) and while her iPhone often registers LTE, my A7 often registers 4G or even E in the same place. The A7 is receiving the same bands but appears to be "choosing" or locking into the slower protocols more often.
EDIT: NEVER MIND… an xposed module was messing with my network settings. Fixed it. Now I get LTE right away.

Which module?
What if flash any Custom OS?Would it give better signal ?

Lost LTE after flashing 64 bit rom - I have LTE on Mint Sim, but not Ting! Weird

I use Ting, and LTE is available in my area (wife's on same plan) I lost my LTE/4g after flashing Cosmic OS. I've been struggling along with 3g just fine. The phone never showed CDMA - always showed "Global" in the network settings, if I Switch to LTE preferred I lose my signal and have to reset my network settings.
I ordered the MintSIM test kit, and installed it today...and I had LTE. Mint runs off of T-Mobile, Ting runs off of Sprint.
My LTE isn't gone... it's just gone from the CDMA side of things.
Has anyone else flashed Oreo onto a Sprint networked phone and retained their LTE? Is it something with the current ROMS and Sprint?
Experiencing the same after flashing FrankenRom.
Don't get LTE with Tello but I get LTE fine with redpocket T-Mobile.

Nokia X6 2018 defaults to H+ connection on Cricket

Hi guys,
I just got a Nokia X6 on Android One shipped from China and for some reason it defaults continuously to H+ instead of LTE on my Cricket network. On my Network Type option in the Setting In only have 3 options 2G, 3G and 4G and I have 4G selected, but still H+ is being used by default even in areas where I used to get full LTE signal.
I have tried however to get into the Android Testing Menu (by dialing *#*#4636#*#*) and change the Preferred Network Type to a few options like LTE/UMTS auto (PRL), but for some reason is the H+ that is picket all the time. even in areas where I know the LTE signal is strong. If I select "LTE only" from that menu, then I'm getting on LTE but as soon as I go into weak signal region, the signal drops completely, while not the same thing I can say about the other option, when the H+ connection is present in the same weak signal area.
Another thing that I see in the Android Testing Menu is that my VoLTE provisioned option is Off and I can turn it on.
Do you guys have any ideas on how can I get this device connected to LTE when the signal is strong?
I have a Nokia X6. I put two SIMs into it, both show 4G.
I have some problem to connect data or mobile internet. Grammen phone provider.
I was ready to purchase one, however, was curious if this would work on t-mobile. If so, would the Wi-Fi calling work?
Did you already checked if your 4g network band compatible with your phone?

So, have you solved your problem?
If the ROM of your phone is "CN" you could try to flash the phone to the global ROM 2_29(WW) or wait for a new update of the firmware. You haven't noticed the firmware's version. Have the phone got any updates?
I just returned the phone and got an LG G7 instead. The X6 that I was using also had a problem with Bluetooth as I was never able to turn it on.
Manually switch the preferred network type.
I am using the latest Stock Android version on Nokia 8 and struggled with this issue too. I tried everything I could possibly do.
The simplest answer is to go into network settings and select 2G, give it a minute to find it. Do it for 3G too. Give it a minute to find it. Then 4G, same thing. Finally select 4G as preferred network type and that should do it.
It looks like the default preferred network type is 3G from the factory.
guys i cant even access my mobile data connection can anyone tell how access it
thanks
