Google Camera for Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

Hey guys! I brought Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.....the phone is good overall except the camera.
The cam app is very bad....the phone has the hardware though.
I tried installing few latest versions of google cam from apkmirror.... but all of them had same message....Camera stopped working.
I disabled the original cam app and again tried but issue persisted.
I am looking for google cam that would work with this device. Can anyone help...?
It will be great help for those who bought this phone!

Same issue, even in playstore it says "device is incompatible"

Have you guys tried on of the modded GCam?
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Apks from devs like Arnova8G2, cstark27 or scrubber are compatible with a wide range of devices.
Btw, camera2 API is required for Google Camera to work.

Oneplus camera is another good option.

enable camera2 api

apk is installed but unable to find the app
Hello,
I just tried installing BSG V2e: MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e.apk (BSG, 2019-02-08, changelog) in Zenfone max pro m1 (6gb). Now my file manager shows that the apk is installed, but i cannot find the google camera app anywhere. I cannot uninstall it either. Because of this I am having issues while installing other google camera apks. Can anyone please guide me how to get rid of the above mentioned apk without rooting my phone ?
P.S. prior to this i had installed various google camera 5 mods and all of the worked near perfectly.

After clicked 4 or 5 pictures gcam was not capture the pics . But app not a crashed. Only gcam capture button was not working properly in any gcam mods.

Try to use the GCam 6.2.30 apo for RN7. It works perfectly for me.

Just tried out MGC_7.4.104_V0a. It worked for me. Photos looks so much better than the stock camera app. But the videos look the same.

Download "MGC-5.1.018_FullManual_v1.2_Android-7.0+" that version is working vor me. You have to enable portrait mode manually in Settings:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog24/
You have to activate portrait shooting mode as an extra mode (like time lapse for example). Note that its until now only processing actual faces, not objects.
That version is working fine on my stock ROM.
Edit: Before someone asks: No, front facing camera is not working in this version.
Does someone tried this? Is it working?
And if it does - do you just install the apk or do U need to flash it via twrp?
THanks in advance
Regards

G6 pixel 2 portrait mode
Hey guys, the link provided does not work for me.
Hi, tried google camera ported by scrubber. Its really stable and portraits are really good.
Got it from youtube link below. It workd flawlessly on Indian unit H870DS unit.
Stable Google cam port for LG G6 7.0
Also for BSG google camera port, below is the video for stable settings on LG G6, tried this one also but front cam portrait is not working on LG G6 in BSG port.

If these features can be done purely via the software, you wonder why LG can't implement something similar... but then we have no news on oreo so that might be too much to ask.
Amazing quality! (uses scrubber port)
I compared stock and Google camera and the result is obvious.
Not only in quality but also in filesize (with same pixel count of course...):
Stock = 6.260 KB
Google = 3.805 KB

(zoomed in, took screenshot and saved with 100% jpg quality)
Ho do you use portrait mode with the rear camera? It works with the front, but don't get the options with the rear.

Any way to find it an update is out for it?

Gcam MGC 6.1.021 by BSG Settings

Hello,
this thread is actually nothing special, I've just found some settings to get good results out of these Gcam apks and I'd like to share them here.
This is tested on the latest Stock Pie (10.0.2.0) and it works on my device.
So, first of all you have to enable Camera2API obviously (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/how-to-enabling-cam2-gcam-android-t3868766), but I think you're all familiar with that at this point.
Download one of these apks: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/
(I'm on the latest one) or if you prefer an Arnova version based on MGC by BSG (No PixelMod).
After that go into settings->BSG MOD settings.
Input Model: Set "Interface Style" to "Pixel II" (there are some focus issues with Pixel III), "Back Camera" to "Pixel 3 XL", "Front Camera" to "Nexus 6P" and "Config" to "Pixel2018 ZslR Hdr+"
FIX: Set "RAW Format" to "RAW10(default)" (this should already be set), "Image Format" to "YUV_420_888 (default)" and enable "Enable Motion" if you're into motion photos.
After that close the app, clear its cache and start it again.
If you experience some FC, try to clear again the cache and restart the app.
Now you should get a fairly stable Gcam with good performance, at least this is the best I've tried so far.
Portrait mode, HDR+, HDR enhanced and HDR OFF all work, burst photos work, Motion photos work, Night mode work, front camera works, panoramic works.
The only broken thing is Slow Motion.
The Camera will crash if you try to take a picture with Flash and HDR+ on OFF, but to me it's not a big deal since I never turn it off unless I want to take a burst. Anyway if you set "Pixel2018 Zsl Hdr+" in "Config" you should get this to work as well, but you'll lose Motion Photos. it's up to you here.
So that's it, if you find any better Setting, please share it
Sorry for maybe hijacking the post but i was using a gcam for nokia 7 plus which has the same 660 chip found here https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-backrider/ . I found it to be really stable too except 4k which doesnt work.

No hijack, don't worry!
I'm trying it and it works mostly fine, but it looks like it FC a bit more often than the BSG version (maybe it's just an impression of mine).
Anyway the main think I dislike about the non-BSG versions is that you can't select "Pixel II" as the interface and you lose tap to focus, which makes the app completely unusable to me.

Currently I'm trying Eszdman new, Savitar is too noisy for my tastes... But I still have to experiment actually
