Everything is fine here man after update.

Brightness slider works fine after update .

it won't work for me too, not even in Good lighting condition, should i replace it? it was working fine till yesterday.

Yea same problem for me.

Same thing happening to my "max pro m1"
whenever the "Auto brightness" is on the brightness slider doesnt work/respond at all.
I tried almost every thing..........
1) Installed latest Update "15.2016.1805.318" of 66.76 MB
2) Restart Multiple times
3) HARD RESET the phone
Still not working
Is it a because faulty/bad light sensor
OR
will it be fixed by some software updates in coming future...

Keyboard Light

Hi all,
I was wondering if there was a way to force the keyboard keys to stay lit up until you close it. It seems to be cutting out mid type.
Thanks.
It turns off when you it's bright enough in the surrounding area. You can flash cyanogenmod and set all the brightness settings.
Thanks,
I guess I was hoping to be able to control this manually without having to flash a different rom.
At this time its not possible to control it manually from stock froyo. Maybe in gingerbread?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 running Cyanogenmod.
do you have it set to automatic brightness? I noticed my keyboard turning on and off while typing and the screen dimmed and brightened with it. Turned off the auto brightness and hasn't done it since.

Turning off the auto brightness hasn't made any difference to me on my DZ. The backlight for the keyboard and capacative buttons seems to turn off and on quite often for no apparent reason (badly calibrated light sensor ?).
has anyone tried covering up the light sensor with a sticker or something? lol idk

That would certainly work, you can put your finger over it and show how it's the light sensor doing it. Probably not the best long term solution though

Auto-Brightness doesn't work on Mango

Hi, My T-Mobile DVP's auto brightness doesn't work after i upgrade it to mango. It worked in pre-mango, if i cover the light sensor or light it up, the screen brightness would be changed. But it isn't like that in mango (version 7720), no matter i do, it is always at the lowest brightness level. The light sensor still works well in EM, it can detect lux value so i think this is a faulty OS firmware.
So after upgrading to mango i lost two sensors: compass and light sensor (Well, compass still worked in EM in pre-mango but in mango it doesn't work, even in EM). I lost my faith in Dell, too . My Dell laptop dead one month after end of its warranty and cannot be repaired, now this one ...
Anyone have the same problem ?

Hmm its not instant and it takes 5-6 seconds to adjust, because the light sensor is working fine in the EM app it means its working fine with the phone, also covering with hand doesn't work. Try putting it under a couch then put it by a windows on a sunny day.

Doesn't work for my DVP. I think this should be mango firmware's fault, so all DVP should have this problem. Could you please let us know which version your DVP is ?
Anyone who has upgraded to 8107, do you have this problem ? If the problem is fixed in 8107 i'll think about upgrading it manually
Try this: Turn off auto brightness, change the brightness from low to either medium or high, then turn auto brightness back on.
For some reason the brightness setting (that is inaccessible when autobrightness is on) functions as a limit when autobrightness is on. If it's set to low then autobrightness will never raise the brightness above low. Set it to high and try it again.

Good finding ! It worked ! But there is another problem . That is when i light up the sensor, it bring the screen brightness to the highest level, but it suck in that level even when i cover the sensor. I waited 2 minutes but it just didn't change, it was always on the highest level. Then after i locked/unlocked, it turned back to the lowest level.
So auto-brightness is not a completely unusable like compass, it's just too faulty to be able to use

Delayed Brightness Resumption

When I unlock the the screen, there is a few second delay in the screen resuming to the set brightens.
I am on auto brightness but there is a few second delay after unlocking & when its gone to the home screen.
Anyone have this or have I got a setting wrong some where?
Ta
Well it is set to auto mode, I guess it is normal to take a moment to measure the ambient light and set a determined brightness.
Ya good catch. My note 4 does this every once in a while too. My note 3 or note 2 never did that and it had auto settings too?

Having read the reply below yours, out might be nothing to do with auto brightess.

Yeah mines still doing it. Might be fixed with an update. Doubt it though.

Auto brightness not working correctly

When I'm in a light room the screen goes brighter but if I walk into a darker room, the screen doesn't dim unless I lock and then unlock the screen.
Anyone else having similar issues?
Yep got the same here. Thought I had a faulty ambient light sensor but obviously not.

Just tried it by covering the light sensor to make sure, no problem here (G935F). My only concern related to brightness is that the s7 just has auto brightness, but no adaptive brightness.
Uncheck the auto box and recheck. Then don't touch the slider. It's usually because in marshmallow the slider moves with the auto bright and most people touch it which makes it hold position.

There seems to be a bug somewhere still. I just tried to move the slider while auto brightness is ticked and to cover the light sensor afterwards again and it still worked and to my surprise it even took into account that I lowered the brightness and took also a lower brightness at the covered state and took my initial setting after uncovering, pretty nice, so there is indeed still adaptive brightness. After ticking und unticking auto it went back taking the default steps for brightness as before.
Having the same issue here
Definately not touched the slider.
Also, I have tested the light sensor and it appears to work fine so definately a software issue. Though I imagine we will see some software updates to fix bugs shortly after the official release date.
So you can adjust the slider with the box checked and get various levels of auto? Does it learn?

Yes.
I can't tell for sure, when I change further steps the previous seems to stick, at least to some extend so there is a logic behind it, but I can't tell for sure if it really is based on each step and sets it accordingly or if it's just changes the range it operates in. Anyways I'm a happy camper.
Also, I could reproduce the device not changing the brightness, when I put it to full at darkness it won't move anymore in auto. But as soon as I lower it again it will also change accordingly again, maybe at those with the stuck brightness the min brightness is only raised, but not lowered anymore, but just an assumption and doesn't help anyone atm unfortunately.

This is the first Galaxy phone I had, that Auto brightness actually works the way I like it.
It seems to be working fine now. It just takes a few seconds for the screen to dim (maybe I was being impatient).
After testing it further it's actually really good auto brightness.
It works, just takes some time to adjust to the lighting. Maybe the default settings are set to a certain time. Maybe with root we can adjust this..

It seems to only do it quickly when the device is lay down (as 954wrecker said). Maybe Samsung did that so it doesn't annoy you when using your phone.
this is definitely a bug imo... the auto brightness doesn't change for me either...

I also have an auto briteness issue, when I disable AutoBrite and set it manually about half my apps override the setting and enable AutoBriteness in the app's screen usually dimming the screen? SpadesFree one example and I do not see an override in the app.
Confimed that I'm having same issue, auto brightness not adjusting and slider not movingoing. Have to move it manually
Same issue. It needs to be fixed manually by editing services.jar (root needed)
Nothing else will work. None of google play apps will help with that issue. Does not matter what you do, it will always dimming if you don't fix it in framework.jar

Aggressive Auto Brightness Issue

My Oneplus 5 (128GB) seems to adjust the Auto Brightness to aggressively. It Sets the bat to Zero in dim lit rooms.
Anyone Else experiencing this issue??
Yup, seems to randomly set it to zero for me, probably a bug.
Same here. needs optimization
It's bugged for me too.
OK, thanks for the answers, Guys. Than it will be patched soon I think.
Edit:
When you enter *#808# in Phone App you can Test the light Sensor. It seems to Return the value 0 or 1 in dimly lit rooms. And when i Turn on roomlight it is 38-45. Strange

For me is the same.
The hw is ok because with Lux autobrightness work well
Bye
Maybe it will be fixed in the next update.
Not good for me either. Wish they had kept it how stock android works. I prefer being able to set a "bias" of dim, middle, or bright screen that adapts to any condition.
This is happening to me too. Need to toggle the auto brightness off and then on again to make it work. Pretty annoying.
Frustrating issue. Brightness suddenly jumps to too low in dark environments.
Always when I unlock my op5 outside the screen is black and it needs to adjust the brightness again for me to even see something. I hope they fix this too.
Same here...hope this will be fixed soon as it is annoying af.

you guys sure you got auto brightness activate ?
Has anyone tried screen_auto_brightness_adj setting in AutoTools custom setting? I think this might be able to fix the problem but I have not tried yet.
