Emmersive/Fullscreen Mode - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Greetings, I have tried a couple of apps to try to get emmersive/fullscreen mode with no root required on a Q6 (not much activity in the threads over there and the G6 is "similar"). One app is GMD Emmersive and the other is Emmersive Full-Screen (EFS). I have GMD on another phone (w Oreo 8.1) and it works with the apps that I really want it to work (Google/Chrome). However, GMD and EFS only partially work on the Q6, meaning they will work fully with some apps, but only partially with some, i.e., in Google/Chrome only the top will be emmersed, while the bottom will hide the soft key bar but it replaces it with a black bar, instead of "emmersing" that area as well.
So, is there an app that will also emmerse the bottom of Google/Chrome? If so what are you all using (again not rooting please).
Thanks

I'm using System UI Tuner app to get Immersive Mode. Working flawlessly so far on my G6. The Chrome full screen issue can be solved by Installing Chrome Beta and disable Chrome to avoid confusion.

what about battery drain? Do you exclude apps that can't do 18:9? I've heard that using immersive causes massive battery drain with the G6. Especially when you use it in combination with apps that can't do full screen? But I don't fully understand the issue yet (only got the phone a month ago).

I did a lot of research about that, I found this and I can confirm that really works:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg6/comments/72u9be/rootless_nonbatterydraining_immersive_mode_via/
Using tasker, you can set when the immersive mode works if the screen is on/off (screen off avoid the battery drain), so simple haha.

Using Tasker and all is cumbersome process. The app mentioned in my previous post didn't cause any battery drain for me. The app just works smoothly because it enables the options which are supposed to be provided thru System UI Tuner

So what you're saying is it doesn't matter which apps are using immersive when you enable it through System UI Tuner?
On my last phone (Huawei P9) I used an app called "TileRoot" to enable immersive mode (gives you a notification quick settings toggle). I started out on the G6 using the same app, which is not app-selective. It just enables it for every app systemwide.
And my battery life was very bad, not even getting through a day. I then learned about the issues with immersive and uninstalled TileRoot, just using regular Navbar at the moment and my battery life almost doubled. I go to sleep with over 50% now... Maybe I'll give system UI tuner a chance. Or I just wait for Oreo which has a built in option right?
My battery life is so good right now I kinda don't wanna change anything

I couldn't get System UI Tuner installed. I hooked up my phone to the computer (my phone was already in developer mode "7 clicks to Kernel"), installed ADB pack and opened a command window from the ADB directory (Windows), typed "adb devices" then nothing, it just went back to the ADB directory in the command window.

You need drivers

Could you maybe write how you set up the App? Did you blacklist/whitelist anything? Full immersive or just navbar? Things like that...
thx! (Installation is not an issue, I have root anyway)

Windows initially installed some drivers when I hooked up the phone by USB. I also installed all LG drivers from the website, the "LG Universal Mobile Drivers" and the "LG Bridge for Windows".

Tried yesterday on a clean windows installation.
Install lg universal drivers
Plug in the phone (quality cable on a mb usb)
Install minimal adb
Adb devices
Autorize adb on phone screen
Adb devices
And it works.
If you still have problem try to uninstall everything phone related from pc restart and retry.

I enabled full immersive throughout. Only app which i blacklisted is Whatsapp as the emoji option remain blank when Whatsapp is in full immersive. Otherthan this i increase the number of SmallQuickTiles from 5 to 11.

Something I use that has changed names several times (used to be "Unbounce") called Amplify Battery Extender found here: Amplify-Battery Extender is a module that will prevent the play store from phoning home so often and waking up your device from deep sleep. Early iterations allowed you to change settings yourself, but the newest version has good default settings that helped me tremendously with my S5. I don't know how future proof it is with Lollipop right around the corner, but it definitely increased my deep sleep time by about 10-15%.
Give it a try and check out his support page that I linked to. It has a lot of good information posted there.
Edit: The only other one I install for performance related impact is the Android Tuner (I have pro) Xposed module that allows for Crystallization of apps immediately upon close. I found greenify to be completely hit or miss, especially on my friend's phone who installs an insane amount of apps. Greenify would just fail to make them hibernate. I don't know why crystallizing through Android Tuner is better, but it truly closes apps immediately and prevents them from running in the background. Really great software and awesome tech support.
The following are my favorites:
1. Boot Manager (as the name implies, it lets you manage what apps are started or not on boot)
2. Greenify (Will let you manually or automatically hibernate apps, even notifications for apps like Facebook will still work while hibernated)
3. Wanam Xposed (So many hacks to list, this alone is a must have!)
4. XuiiMod (if you get tired of seeing the same UI animations, then this one's for you, it let's you change basically every animation there is)
5. Youtube Adaway (as the name implies, advertising remover for Youtube).
App settings. Let's you choose a different dpi for each app.

this is no way a complaint but personally, as exciting as 5.0 may be... i dont think i make the jump until xposed works on 5.0. There are some modules i can live without but when it comes to per app settings... this is my most widely used module as changing the dpi and forcing an app to be full screen looks so much better. google music's stock dpi is horrible. Anyone else going to delay their update till xposed is able to work on 5.0?

My thoughts exactly!
xPosed Framework is my main excuse to root my device (well that and Titanium Backup) and I can't see myself running a device without xPosed, period!
Cheers!
I add "Network Speed Indicator" to mine. Like to see bandwidth numbers.
The guy that did "Wanam Xposed" does not even have a Samsung phone. Go figure. Its all in one toolkit for any Samsung phones and some of it doesnt work well. For example, the disable volumn warning didnt work on my Note 4.
Has anyone got Lockscreen shortcuts to work?

Missing toggles in notification bar (Android 7.1.1)?

Hi y'all !
I just bought Nokia 6 last night and notice that there are some toggles missing in the notification bar which are available in my other phone running Android 7.0.
Such as the screenshot toggle, Volume toggle, sound profile toggle and so more, they are obviously not in the "Drag to add tiles". I hope Nokia didn't remove them.
Also, how i can make the battery percentage indicator appear next to the battery icon instead of inside the battery icon?
If you enabled System UI Tuner you can enable battery percentage.
To turn on Sytem UI Tuner, you need to press the little cog symbol in the corner of the toggle window until ut rotates. After that you find the system ui tuner menu in the bottom of the settings menu. And there under status bar you can enable battery percentage. As far as the other tiles are concerned, I don't know uf they are part of the rom.

Yeah, I know, sorry. But until some devs come along and actually start developing ROMs and stuff for this thing that's all we can get for now I assume.
By the way, the Gallery app is also missing from Nokia 6, Google photo is standard default photo viewing app now?

the more i look at it, the more missing features i find. I just came across a review about this phone on YouTube, strangely enough there are some settings from the video are not available on my phone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmj17fDxuYk
The missing settings i was talking about are at 3:03 and at 3:42 in the video.
Yup no Gallery app in this one. I don't like google fotos either, so I disabled it and installed Quick Pic instead. It's a good app.
Hello! Help with the decision, please!
I bought a Nokia 6 in China, the version was 7.0, and the function updated the update 7.1.1 and tried to install it via Recovery from the SD card, at the last stage received an error message. Now the phone is downloaded only in Recovery, and then the download is not. What can you recommend? How to restore the phone? What is the version of the firmware?
Well, adb sideload works on the phone. But I don't know any place to download Roms or OTA files.

the one in the video is the first release version (TA-1000, china exclusive i think). the launcher app is different from the Taiwan release version(TA-1003).
TA-1003's launcher app is a modified version of launcher3, while TA-1000's looks like it's called launcher+(at 3:08 in the video you linked.)

[Closed] Cannot hide navbar on EMUI 5

Hello, I saw a screen made on my friend's EMUI 4 smartphone. There was an arrow pointing down, that's used to hide the navigation bar on EMUI 4.
Anyways, I don't have that on EMUI 5 (P10 Lite, build 188), it isn't even disabled.
I don't want to download a separate app, which might cause high RAM consume and some big bugs/glitches/problems.
Does anybody know how to enable that option?
Here's a screen:
Unfortunately it can't be done. There is software that adds it, but it has serious problems in some apps and games. The feature seems to have completely vanished from EMUI5.1 and Android 7.
Fortunately, modern apps and games don't have this issue, as they are programmed to show/hide the bar or have it transparent (like the gallery app). This won't help with older apps though. You'll be stuck with the buttons for those. I do wish I could hide them in the gallery. Viewing a full screen image with some transparent buttons on the side is a bit stupid.

Ok, I understand. Do you think that it will come to EMUI 8 as we saw in other phones who already received the beta?
I also tried an app called "Settings Database Editor", it's working just when you want to hide it, but there's no known process which tells the smartphone that, when you swipe up, the navbar must come out.
I followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/root-hide-navbar-via-little-arrow-t3443250

This is honestly one of the things that seriously annoys me about Huawei. They are constantly removing features from one EMUI update to the next. You become so used to having certain features while using a device, then as soon as you upgrade to another device, you lose that same feature you've been using for a year, or more! I miss being able to hide the navigation bar as well, and also being able to hide apps in the launcher. It's incredibly infuriating!

Actually... They also add random features without telling anyone. As they added the living images from the Lumia series now to the camera app as well. It's a bit of a mess.
Fortunately, about the hidden apps: you can get them back using a third party app that can do a few config changes on EMUI. Unfortunately not for the navbar, but it is for the hidden apps and enabling custom fonts (partially): emui tweaker.

I haven't gotten that update yet, since my device is branded, but I'm hoping I get the living images soon too, because I think it's awesome! [emoji23]
Regarding EMUI tweaker, I used it for a while, but since the font in the hidden apps folder disappears after a while, and also uninstalling the app removes the tweak, I decided to stop using it. [emoji85] It's still a good app though, but I'd just prefer being able to activate the tweak using ADB commands, but no one seems to know the commands to enable it. Either way though, I might as well just get used to not hiding my apps, since all EMUI versions going forward won't have the setting anyway.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
it is a fine and quick device. But after using a custom rom on my z3 compact, i am just missing a few things that i find essential.
1) missing the data traffic monitor 2)missing the option to switch recents and back buttons.
3) missing the 2 extra buttons on the navigation bar.
(yes, they are from gravity box in xposed module)
the standard file explorer is also very bad. it always goes to download map standard, when you want to move or copy a file.
and it has facebook, avg and amazon apps that you can't delete and facebook even has an facebook app manager app that doesn't show up and you need to disable it through the apps menu.

Well that is something new to me. Didn't know that system ui tuner was actually an option. Made the wrong assumption that you meant changing things through the normal menu's. System ui tuner only has options for do not disturb and status bar. No navigation bar . I do have to say that I just updated the software today to a version with the security patches from 1 April.

hello, all
i'm newbee in android phone
but i love this phone for basic (but importants) points
- good autonomie
- compact size
- good apn
- a full 5" screen in a small formfactor
So far I really like this device. It's my smallest device yet and I love it. Performance is great and battery life is outstanding. Low light performance with the stock camera app is my only gripe as it seems to add artifacts. Hoping gcam will be available before too long. Decent case selection especially when compared to the Essential.

Excessive doze and Whatsapp problems

Hi everyone, I really hope that some of you know how to give me some info about it. I am currently using the Lineageos Pie ROM, with Magisk attached, and all without any particular problems and using both Naptime and Servicely for the Doze service. The only problem I have is with Whatsapp notifications. I don't care about the others. ROM is obviously perfectly optimized, so the app is also optimized in the "optimization" section. So I removed the flag up and left the app without optimization, because of this app I want notifications to arrive.
I removed the battery limitations, so the app can act in the background too. On Servicely is obviously the only social app to have permissions from awakening, and despite everything, the Doze affects all the apps without distinction, including Whatsapp. Now, you know, is there any .prop string, or can you give me some suggestions? I really kindly ask you for a hand. Thanks for reading.
You can tune / turn off any battery saving level for every app.
1) Just open the app,
2) after that open app drawer (app switcher)
3) hold your finger on Whatsapp application in. Then click on settings (third icon i think)
4) click battery saver / miui optimalizations
5) select None / turn off battery saver

You can tune / turn off any battery saving level for every app.
1) Just open the app,
2) after that open app drawer (app switcher)
3) hold your finger on Whatsapp application in. Then click on settings (third icon i think)
4) click battery saver / miui optimalizations
5) select None / turn off battery saver
Click to collapse
thanks for the matrix answer, as I wrote I am already using a custom ROM and no longer MIUI; anyway I had already removed battery saver, but despite this, Whatsapp continues to be afflicted by Doze. I can not understand.

Not only you... Whatsapp Battery Drain/Consumption since the last few updates is just "yack"...
Sending the App into the Background limits notifications in a random manner etc...

did you restore WhatsApp from a backup (Titanium Backup)? if so, uninstall and reinstall from playstore, it happened to me that I did that and MIUI keeps closing it, till I reinstalled from Playstore and now it stay active
