Encryption lock screen, not booting after password || E: failed to clear bcb massage - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Hi Everyone,
My phone asked for update then after update was complete it got turned on and it booted up to the encryption lock screen where it says to start up your device, enter your pin. So I enter my pin and then its says, "verified" and then "starting android". and then a padlock appears on the screen, it opens, and there's like a load up circle going around it. At first, I let the phone sit to see if it would do anything but after an hour, I figured something is wrong. I dont know why this happened. I don't want to have to factory reset and lose all my pictures and data. I can boot into recovery mode but sometimes when i turn it on it shows a screen that says installing update and has like a google ring looking thing that should be spinning around but it looks like its glitching out, after that screen it will go to a no command screen, and then it will eventually reach recovery mode but all I can see is:
#fail to open recovery_cause(no such file or directory)#
#Reboot Recovery Cause is [UNKNOWN]#
No Support SINGLE-SKU
File-Based OTA
Supported API: 3
# MANUAL MODE v1.0.0#
Successfully verified dmverity hash tree
E:Failed to clear BCB Message: failed to find / misc partition.
I have tried safty mode, but this also didn't helped. I really hope someone can help or knows what is going on because, I really dont want to lose all my pictures.
Thanks you.

You can try and downgrade the update, but I cannot say for sure if it will wipe your phone. You can go back to recovery and in the yellow font area look for G935P. That will have your firmware version and if you go to sam mobile you can look for the version before it. Flash it with odin and you might be able to boot up again. Data recovery is hard when the phone is encrypted.
Good luck!

same problem ... i just update my phone in latest oreo via OTA and it never open stock in samsung s7 edge name... i coudnt downgrde it always failed in odin.. any soultion please..

did u manage to solve it ? i have same problem

something's wrong with the image file you're trying to install. From the looks of it, the files aren't signed, so the phone won't install it.
I'm assuming you're looking for the official 1.6 image and you have a regular g1, not a ADP1 so...
look around the forums here, someone reuploaded those files since htc pulled them down from their website.
Be aware that if you just install the official 1.6 image, the recovery menu is gonna be gone. Or at least it was for me when i did. You're gonna have to reinstall the recovery menu if you use just the official image, without any other roms like CM.
Do I need to install this Dream 1.6 image first or fix SPL since I can't get to bootloader? How can I flash Radio and SPL if I can't get to bootloader mode?

did you ever find a fix?? i'm having the same problem
Your Home key isn't stuck is it? If you only press Back while you're in recovery, does the phone reboot, or do you HAVE to press Home + Back? It's a longshot, but that would be an epic facepalm if I may say so myself.
Im pretty much having this same problem, i cant even get into shell via adb, I get a "exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2)" error. another error that i am getting is the E:Can't read MISC: (no space on device) in the recovery console, and i read that the MISC partition contains boot information. i would really like to find a solution to this as i have been looking for a few months now.

Just use this^
The downgrading part should restore you back to stock 1.0
My belief is that if you screw up restore to stock 1.0 and redo everything
If you gave us a bit more detail though we might find a easier method for you
Thanks, my friend got the phone with a broken screen and all it does its boot to the screen with the exclamation point on it.
Followed the guide in your link to downgrade the firware. We get stuck on the step to boot into bootloader. Holding camera and power just gets us to recovery (screen with exclamation) not into bootloader. After messing around a bit I found that if I hold "home" and "back" and then press power it SOMETIMES goes into bootloader. When I do get into bootloader nothing works to flash the .nbh file. By nothing works i mean no buttons work at all to flash or to cancel.

Than its a hardware problem
The buttons are broken
You can try take it apart and look inside, but it sounds like it's totalled.
thats what we decided last night also. Thanks for the help
Same issue but a little more twisted
I tried flashing my G1 and it bricked(Soft Brick).
Somehow by luck I flashed the DREAIMG.nbh and have a stock phone now.
But the problem is I cant pass the Stratup screen because I get no network.
Unable to connect to the internet as well.
I tried the orange DREAIMG.nbh which bypasses the startup screen, even thought i come to the Home screen i get no network.
It gives an Error while trying to search for a Network.
When i try to flash any update.zip files it gives an error
E: No Signature
E: Verification Failed
Installation aborted.
When I enter the Recovery mode i get a error line saying " E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Any run around to this??? Is this by any chance a Hardware issue?
I doubt it, what recovery do you have? Also with the spl you know have just use fastboot flash for you roms, your error rate will be down to nothing
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using xda premium
Its a Android System recovery utility, I cant get to the home screen also becuase i have no connectivity to get past the the Google sign in screen...
I tried the Fastboot but have no idea how to go with it!!
Need some help with it...
There are plenty of fastboot how tos amoung these threads here, otherwise go straight to the sdk website and there will be plenty of options, on my phone now so I can't walk you through it well. Pretty much download the sdk package to your comp and then make sure all the proper drivers are downloaded. Either change the variables in your device manager or open a cmd in the folder where fastbooot is located. You can also just change directories to get there. Put the files you need in the same folder as fastboot. Plug in your phone with it in hboot mode and you should see fastboot usb show up. The do fastboot -w then fastboot flash for whatever rom you need. Check the toutorials it will be more help

Recovery Mode but no Bootloader

Can't find info on this anywher but bought a phone off ebay and just boots into recovery mode. Can't get into bootloader mode to dreaming.nbh the thing. Is this considered bricked? i can get to recovery mode. i hit alt + L and i have the factory recovery system. at the bottom it does say E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command ... HELP PLEASE
I'm having the same EXACT issue. Haven't found a solution yet.
I'm going to bump this.
I've researched the last 4 hours about how to restore the G1 and all of them require the phone to enter into the bootloader (gray screen). I can not for the life of me get my G1 into the boot loader. It has no water damage that i know of. If I hold Home + Back + power I can get to the HTC erase phone thing but nothing responds.
Camera + Power does nothing other than turn the phone on and it goes into recovery mode.
Maybe an official bootloader in an update.zip format?
Tried all 3 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455860
They all get verified and installation starts but then it aborts installation immediately.
Bumpage for some answers. I have an ADP1 phone. I've tried all the images from http://developer.htc.com/adp.html#s3.
1.1 and 1.5 all verify and start the installation but they immediately stop and I get a message saying "Installation aborted". I've tried flashing the radio image first but I get the same result.

I can't properly access recovery menu

Hello, so I'm having a problem with my S5. For no reason process called android.process.media started to stop. I tried a lot of methods but none of that worked, then my photos went missing. I downloaded dr.fone toolkit to see if I can recover some photos. It asked me to go to the download mode, I did that, but program failed and I was stuck in download mode (a lot of fixes didn't work out, what worked out was the recovery file I downloaded through PC and injected it through odin) after odin it was fine and phone booted up, but the error message was still there and reappearing every 5 seconds, but sometimes it stop. I got all my files through Kies 3. None photos we're missing (they we're not deleted, but I guess phone got confused and it didn't show me photos and my ringtone was changed to default). I'd like to perform Hard reset on it, but if I'm trying to go through settings then backup to make factory reset, when I'm pressing the button "erase everything" nothing happens, I know that phone recognized the touch because button gets darker, but nothing happens. When I try to boot to recovery mode (vol up+home key+power key) it boots me to the screen where it says on top left corner:
Recovery booting...
Recovery is not seandroid enforcing
Set warranty bit: recovery
I tried a lot of button combinatios, but none of that worked. After ~15 seconds from this state phone reboots back to OS. I tried using android device finder and erasing all files from there, but it only deleted my sd card files. I'm using 900F version and rocking Android 5.0. Thank You for Your replies, appreciate it!
Recovery partition of your phone got corrupted for some reason.
Probably, because of that file, you've "injected through odin".
That's why "erase everything" does not work and that's why you see colored messages and cannot boot recovery.
But android process stops for some other reason.
Just download factory firmware and flash it in odin.
This will restore recovery partition and you'll be able to reset the device.
Don't forget to disable reactivation lock before flashing if enabled.

Bootloop after today's update - need to uninstall Substratrum?

Hello, I am having bootloop issues after installing the update that showed up this morning and I'm hoping someone can help!
Samsung Galaxy S8, Android 9 Pie, US Unlocked model. I know we got an update a few days ago but apparently there's another one. The version is 9/PPR1.180610.011/G950U1UEU6DSJ4
The phone reboots a few times and goes to Android Recovery (it is not rooted) with the message Reboot Recovery Cause is [Binder: 1485_5:2416 RecoverySystemRescueParty]# No Support SINGLE-SKU
It also says
File-Based OTA, Supported API: 3
E: unknown volume for path [/odm], E: unknown volume for path [/vendor], E: unknown volume for path [/odm], E: unknown volume for path [/vendor]
I use Substratum Lite and Swift Black, along with a few other Substratum mods and tweaks for Android 9 Pie. Is there a way to remove these without resetting?
The phone appears to reboot before ADB can access anything. It says "This adb server's ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set"
The phone pops up in Windows Explorer, but the phone bootloops before it can be opened
The most confusing part is that the phone appears to make it to the SystemUI, though I don't see anything (no lockscreen, homescreen, etc.).
I have Fluid Navigation Gestures installed, my after phone gets past the Samsung logo , I see the toast for FNG pop up "FNG is Enabled" and stay on the black screen until my phone restarts.
Is there anything I can do to avoid resetting? I'm willing to try to root it to try to remove the Substratum Overlays through TWRP, but I don't know if that would be possible considering I can't currently interact with the phone
Thank you for taking a look!

Samsung A52s 5G stuck in reboot-freeze loop

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G that goes into the following loop for two days:
boots up, waits for me to unlock the phone through the draw pattern, I unlock the phone, "Phone Starting" pops up, phone starts, I am able to navigate the phone and phone apps for something like 20 seconds and then it freezes.
Model Number: SM-A528B/DS
The firmware shown in recovery mode is the following: A528BXXS1CVI6
Why I am trying all this
This is my wife's phone. I thought she was backing up photos through google photos and she told me that she was doing it. Unfortunately, she was only uploading them on the local app and the backup was not working since her storage was full for several months. So, if there is a way to access her stuff from any Operating System please let me know. The problem, I think, is that I can't without unlocking the phone (of course).
Note
If I don't unlock the phone, the phone does not freeze but of course, I cannot do anything. Therefore, I suspect it is some thread that starts by default as soon as the phone is unlocked.
What I tried
I tried the following things:
Remove the SD/SIM card tray (just because it was easy)
I tried to boot my phone in Safe mode. I correctly entered in safe mode, the third-party apps were disabled but then the phone froze again.
I connected the phone to a laptop (running Ubuntu 22.04) and entered in recovery mode. Once in recovery mode, I tried basically all the options without any luck so far:
Reboot system now
Reboot to bootloader
Apply update from ADB:
I tried to download a firmware for my phone and then send it through ADB with the following command
`$ ./adb sideload ~/Downloads/A525FXXS4CVK4_A525FOXM4CVJB_HUI.zip`
and I got stuck at
`serving: '/PATH_TO/Downloads/A525FXXS4CVK4_A525FOXM4CVJB_HUI.zip' (~0%)" `
I don't know why
I did not try "Apply update from SD Card" yet
I did not try "Wipe data/factory reset" yet
I tried "Mount /system" but it got me the following error:"Error updating for slotselect"
I tried "Repair apps"
I tried "Run Graphics test"
I tried "Run Locale test"
I tried and then did "./adb reboot recovery" to test that I was able to reboot through adb and it did reboot the phone indeed.
Let me know if you have any ideas on what to try next.
Having a similar issue right here, please notify me what you did afterwards and if you managed to solve it
I am in the same situation and same try outs. Only one slight different. Phone does not start at all. Only "SAMSUNG" and "powered by android" logos. Then starts to bootloop again.
Did you find a solution?
@minidiable did you try to flash with Odin? You should have a try using CSC that avoid erasing data.
In any case, I'm coming back here to give my result after several try-outs and finally going to a Samsung Center.
My phone, entering in recovery mode, had from the begining a message at the bottom saying " E:[libfs_mgr]Error updating for slotselect ".
At Samsung Service Center they told me that this error may probably warn about motherboard failure. And after tearing down the phone and checked it, they changed the moterhboard. Sadly, All data lost. That's all.
