S7 Edge g9350 Rom and other questions - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So hi, I'm basically a noob, I just rooted my phone and I have a couple questions.
My first attempt at rooting my phone, it bricked it, so I went to sammobile and just downloaded the first stock rom I saw out of panic and that brings me to my first question. How would I know what my phones original Rom is cause I'm pretty sure I downloaded a wrong one.
Next question is after I successfully rooted my phone, when rebooting, just before the SAMSUNG logo comes up, there's a yellow, small font "set warranty bit:kernel" located at the top left of the screen which is kinda freaking me out. Googling didn't help much either with providing information.
And would someone recommend me a custom Rom for me to install, I'm looking for maximum performance for gaming which works for my phone. I tried package disabling some bloatwares that I saw here which is said to be safe to disable but it just softbricked my phone. Please help me with my predicaments.
Phone is Samsung Galaxy s7 edge(SM-G0350): Black Pearl
4 Cores 4gb ram and available ram is only around 40% cause of bloatwares.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 2.15Ghz
Adreno 530 as Renderer
128 gb Internal Memory

[Q] Samsung galaxy shv-e330s LTE-A. Is there a way to root this variant

Hello to everybody,
I am new to the forum and form what i am lishening is a great honor to be part of such an informed community. I recently bought a Korean shv-e330s samsung galaxy with the new snapdragon 800 cpu. Although i am no expert i stressed out in my communication with the seller the importance for me, if the phone is unlocked and unbranded. After 2-3 times of reassuarance i received the phone only to find out that is branded from SK Telecom, with tenths of useless apps and startup logos. Furthemore the phone is SLOW...i mean in benchmarks.
Is there a way yet to root the phone and get rid of all the annoying apps?
I already tried CMW, MOTOCHOPPER, but in the first instance i cannot enter recovery booting... and in the second it stucks there and doesnt continue to options.
Any insights?

I also have the same problem, none of the rooting methods found workd for me, I could enter recovery booting by pressing vol up+home key+pwr button until logo shows, then release pwr button, but then I got stuck, couldn't see there anything that was shown in tutorial.
same here
Al methods i tried but useless

Can't access download mode/ recovery mode through buttons

GT 9500
I can't get my galaxy S4 to enter download mode. It was bought off ebay, advertised as Australian but shipped from China.I suspected it may have been a clone, but the IMEI checks out, the antutu benchmark was 28195 (in the s4's range AFAIK) and it checks out as legit on google play/market as a GT 9500.
I've tried unsuccessfully with rom manager/goo manager to install custom recovery, but it only resets to stock recovery. Additionally it only goes to stock recovery when using an app (recovery), and not through power+ home + volume down.
CPUZ online test verified it as a samsung galaxy s4 GT-I9500,
hardware is listed as mt6577, screen resolution 540 x 960, screen density 240 dpi, total ram 469 mb, board smdk4x12--> these same way off.
This is doing my absolute head in, as I can't stand the 4.2.2 Chinese bloatware.
I will happily provide any data I can.
Its a clone and is not supported on xda.

It's a clone/fake phone.
Don't do or try anything with it except for posting an ad
on eBay and sell it for as much as you can get for it.........
P.s. why are you so concerned with bloatware, that's the last thing which I would be concerned about.
I would be a lot more interested in getting rid of the phone and getting a real GT 9500.
Even the REAL Samsung GT 9500 will come with a lot of bloatware! LOL
Good luck!

LG Stylus 2 announced as an "exceptionally-priced" Android Marshmallow smartphone

LG Stylus 2 announced as an "exceptionally-priced" Android Marshmallow smartphone
http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-Stylus-2-announced-as-an-exceptionally-priced-Android-Marshmallow-smartphone_id78356
The Stylus 2 sports the same 5.7-inch 720p display that we can find on the G Stylo, though it's thinner (7.4 mm) and lighter (145 grams) than its predecessor. The new handset doesn't offer too many upgraded features - it's still got a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor (we assume it's the Snapdragon 410), LTE connectivity, 16 GB of expandable storage space, and a 3000 mAh battery. There's a little bit more RAM on the Stylus 2, though (1.5 GB, compared to just 1 GB on the G Stylo), while the cameras have been bumped to 13 MP (rear) and 8 MP (front).
Looks nice, I'm still waiting on the G5 and the note 6 to be announced.
Looks good, though the specs - other than a little lighter and slimmer, and running 6.0 out of the box - seem exactly the same as the T-Mobile/Metro versions out there and even then those still have more RAM (2GB compared to the stated 1.5GB)

Not much of an upgrade for me, since I already own the T-Mobile/MetroPCS version of its predecessor. Unless history repeats itself resulting in said carriers getting this device with improved specs, there's no point.

Same here. I'll just patiently wait for MM to come through, either an official update (I'll unroot/kdz then upgrade for that) or a stable custom ROM, and I'll be a happy dude.
I had a chat with T-Mo support the other day about it and the guy said all he could verify is that it's coming and he wasn't sure when

The Metro/Tmo current version has 2gb ram.
Not impressed.
I'll stick with my OG Stylo for a while.
Now that's it been confirmed it also includes DAB+ digital radio, I am very interested in getting it..
I just looked it up again, and it actually has a kind of S-Pen feature where when you remove the stylus a side menu pops up. I'm kind of interested in it now too...

King root successfully rooted my stylus 2. I'm new to all this so I have no idea what to do next
I refuse to buy a phone without a strong dev community or immediate potential for such. I can't stand stock.

Need help identifying my phone and proper way to update it if possible.

Hi, I am new here. I hope I don't post something too obvious but I don't think it is since there are many specifics. I also hope this is in the right section of the forum, feel free to move it elsewhere if it is not. There is so much information going on that I'm a bit lost.
So I bought this samsung galaxy note 4 on kijiji a couple months ago. I noticed strange memory anomalies when I started to really understand the phone. I had to take it to a repair center because I thought I didn't have access to the full memory. The guy said this phone was either not from here (I'm from canada/quebec and I bought it in montreal) or it was a clone. It is so identical to a real one I would not have doubted it because it was the first time I had one in my hands. Yesterday I googled a bit on differences between real and fakes and I think it is a fake according to this youtube video from techmagnet: Fake vs Real Samsung Galaxy Note 4 - New Version - Best chinese 1:1 Replica for 150$ ? [HD]
Sorry I can't post the link since I'm new. Just copy paste the tilte.
It is pretty much identical to his fake so I guess it's the same. They have almost same informations. So first thing is it had only 16gb when I bought it instead of the 32 announced and is stuck on kitkat 4.4.4 while there is supposed to be a lollipop update I believe, maybe even marshmallow I'm not sure. So now that I know that, it doesn't bother me too much that it is fake because it runs very smoothly and properly. Now what I am wondering is how can I indentify what's really under this cover and can I update it. According to the video, the guy says there should be no problem. But I have never updated a galaxy note 4, my last one was a optimus black so nothing to compare. I have also never flashed or used custom rom or rooted a phone but I heard they can be faster, more stable (not that the one I have is not, it is perfectly stable) and with more options. I don't know if someone can confirm the real benefits of upgrading my phone.
Now if it is possible to do so I would gladly share the necessary information to help find the right firmware. So what information do I need, how do I find it and which rom should I run on this phone. There seems to be a lot of them and I don't know any of them actually. I have already the apps used in the video(cpuz, geekbench 3, and android assistant if this is what I need but they give different informations on some of the phone infos.. From what I learned from the repair store, the canadian firmware should be SM-N910c if I remember correctly but I'm not sure. But this phone says N910F which is why I thought it was simply a european model at first that was maybe stolen and sold back here because the IMEI was good. The guy at the repair store told me he was reluctant to change the firmware himself because he feared he might break the device with the wrong stock firmware, something I think should not happen with a custom one? Anyway he just reset my phone and I ended up losing memory because now it shows 4gb instead of 16 that should have been 32 in the first place, but I assume since it is a clone it must simply have 16.
Last thing I want to know is the guy who sold me the phone told me he had unlocked it for it to work on every network companies. I'm currently with koodo/telus. Can updating my firmware block it again, like erase the unblocking? Or is it safe? I assume it is possible that custom roms just unlock the phone anyway but I am a noob at this.
From what I can tell you at first those are the information I think might be usefull but I don't know if I need more. I'll just take the lead and share what I think might be useful:
Cpu z says I have qualcomm Snapdragon 800 3.00 ghz but Geekbench says I'm not actually going that fast.
It says 4 cores, should be 8 if it was a real note 4 I think
krait 400 architecture
revision r0p3
Gpu: Adreno (TM)330
(SM-N910F)
Board: APQ8084
Hardware: MT6582
Kernel Architecture: armv7l
Kernel version: 3.4.67 (N9100ZCU1ANIF)
System says 3000 of RAM but geekbench says I'm not actually reaching that.
And system, android assistant and Cpu z doesn't seem to agree on the amount of internal memory I have. Cpuz does say I should be having 16gb so I think a firmware update should give me back those extra gb right?
Sorry there are lots of questions but I need proper guidance to get me in the right direction. I hope this is enough information. Once I get to know which rom to use and the proper steps of installation I should be able to find my way.

I had S4 clone, and it just not good
Never buy clones,but never.You have 4GB memory,not 16GB.
For upgrading ROM,search on google MTK ROMS- you have MT6582,first u need proper recovery, than MTK tools(root and backup old system) and finily ROM(You need to copy aome files from ur currnet ROM in new one-files like drivers for wifi, camera,bt etc)
It complicated,YOU CAN BRICK DEVICE-and no,memory stay 4GB it real one
Ps Just check again if it for sure MT 6582(download app Genuine Galaxy - Phone Info)
And here is ROMS for you(each off this must be ported for your device-have instuction on site): http://www.mtkroms.com/p/custom-roms-for-mtk6582.html?m=1

I think I have one of the best clones there is so it's not that bad. I have a 64gb SD card so I don't complain about internal memory.
So does upgrading rom erase the network unlocking?
And how do I choose between all those roms? There are so many! I guess a marshamallow one would be nice but is it stable and fast with this device?
Should I go with a rom that's like the one I already have? I don't know which one it is. Is there a way to find out?
Edit: Genuine galaxy says my IMEI is one of a Mobi SM55.
It says the cpu hardware is Qualcomm MSM 8974.
It also says I should have 16GB rom. I'm confused now
And CPU model says: ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)

May be u have good clon, but nvm it just not easy FLASH and UPGRADE like original one..If u brick device and not have backup, you cant do nothing
Seems there no MM(marshamallow) for mt 6582(last is 5.1.1 i think,or 5.0.1).Clone is never locked network,so you dont need to worry about that. But it just not easy to find& flash recovery and ROM :/ It will work so much faster, but i dont recommend if u dont know what doing...You will probalby lost AirComand(but have solution for that)
And yea,CPU-Z need to show correct info about CPU and chip ,or just try to find some 3hrd app on play store to be sure it is MT 6582(hardwer info,CPU / RAM / DEVICE Identifier, samsung phone info etc)
If you decide to flash, just root and use MTK Tools for backup(it very important)

So CPU-Z says hardware is MT6582 and board is APQ 8084 but it also says Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 on the first Soc tab
Hardware info says the chipset is Qualcomm MSM 8974 and cpu hardware is APQ 8084
Genuine galaxy phone info says CPU hardware is Qualcomm MSM 8974 but no chipset information.
Which one is the right info haha!
I know what I'm doing as far as I won't do anything blindfolded. I don't know a lot about phones, I have more knowledge of computers but I figure there's a start for everything. Somehow this phone may be a blessing in that it'll make me learn about all this stuff. I'll just make sure to know which one is my actual hardware and which rom to take. I'm in no hurry, don't worry. I'll take the time to learn about every step. I know the risks.
I was also wondering which step can actually brick the phone? Is it the rooting access or the flashing of a new rom?
And should I bother with kernel versions?

Hmmm :/ try to delete and download again CPU Z,but i think it MT6582(or download antutu bench just for info)
No,with rooting process all is safe(not 100% safe but ),but flesing recovery is complicated, must 'port' recovery by ur self..When u have fleshed good recovery,u have done 80%job
Whatever,I warn you but if u really want, you can send me PM with ur nimber phone and I will contact on viber or wp...I can help you trough TeamViewr
*bad eng sorry

Bootloader unlocked, can I use any rom?

So Ive had this Verizon Note 3 since day one. Finally unlocked my bootloader... What are the rules on what I can and can't do now. Can I install any Android rom? Can I only install note 3 roms from any carrier... Can I install only Verizon note 3 roms? Or is it a hybrid... I can install any rom if I replace the firmware and or modem.
I really want something on 7.1 but I'd rather take 6 and have something custom... Fast and responsive.
Thanks community.
You are in luck. :crying:
There's hardly anything to choose from; maybe 3 or 4 ROMs and about the same number of kernels.
AFAIK, there are no Nougat ROMs and only one Marshmallow ROM (AryaMod6.6).
Normally, when a dev ships a "ROM", there are two important pieces: the /system image (what some folks call "the ROM"), and the boot image. The boot image is what some folks erroneously call "the kernel"; but it is really a combination of kernel + ramdisk. The ramdisk has all the scripts in it that the "init" process reads to start up all the low-level daemons and services... as well as the Android UI as well.
The kernel is very tightly tied to the specific hardware in a given handset - both the processor/gpu and all the sensors/leds/peripherals.
So that's the reason you can't just flash any old ROM. In the least bad case, your device wouldn't boot; in the worst bad case the kernel would boot up far enough go off in the weeds and possibly damage some of your hardware.
You might be tempted to think "we'll, what if I find a boot image for the "hltevzw" SM-N900V device... can I flash that after I have flashed 'any old Android ROM'? Won't that take care of things?"
Well, not really. The system library binaries in /system are possibly compiled with instruction-set optimumization tweaks that are only supported by specific CPU and GPU hardware chips. Moreover, other peripheral chips such as GPS have unique "downloadable" vendor firmware in the system image... so again, there's the issue of hardware dependencies of the /system image.
Beyond that, there's carrier-specific "setup and activation" software that differs between ROMs, so even using ROMs that are from a different carrier's version of the exact same handset hardware might not work fully - specifically in the telephony function areas. Everything else might work fine though. For instance if you wanted to use the device as a WiFi-only unit for kid's games etc.
Note BTW that the "International" Note 3 GSM phones are not the same hardware - they use an Exynos processor.
good luck in your quest
Thanks
That was very helpful... Looks like Araya is my best bet. I'll leave jasmine rom to try it.
I was hoping that I could get another note 3 rom on this forum and flash the CDMA modem for networking... But doesn't seem like that's an option.
If I'm still stuck to Verizon Note 3 rom... What is the purpose or benefit of unlocking the bootloader... Was that really just to avoid Odin so I can flash my couple rom choices easier?
I appreciate your time!

I might have very slightly overstated the case for pessimism. There is a "consolidated" Verizon Note 3 Forum which is meant for devs to provide development tools and even ROMs that could potentially be used on devices from more than one carrier. But the world being organized the way it is, that means that you are more likely to find multi-carrier GSM ROMs over there than multi-carrier ROMS which support GSM and oh by the way CDMA and LTE as well.
If you want to fool around over there, I recommend that you proceed with great caution to make sure that the ROMs you choose specifically target Qualcomm MSM8974AB Note 3 handsets, and you should read the developer notes very carefully to see whether you need to flash an "hltevzw" kernel separately. If the dev does not mention "supports hltevzw" or "supports N900V" (for example here) you might be taking chances with your hardware.
I suppose it is possible that the radios are 100% "software defined" in the sense of which bands they can support. Maybe you can get what you want by simply flashing the desired carrier's "modem" firmware, but I have never done that so I can't say for certain whether that works or you are risking a brick (or hardware damage) by doing that. I simply don't know (e.g.) if the chips and antennas in a T-mo version of the Note 3 are identical or different from a Verizon Note 3's hardware

Well, for one - having a custom recovery allows you to make backups - even if you never change ROMs
People don't think of backups as being "sexy", but they allow you something which is really valuable: freedom to mess around and experiment with the knowledge that "if something goes wrong, I'll just restore the backup".
And with Odin, you only had the choice of Stock Roms. Now you have a few more.
cheers
Yes you can install Any rom for note3
Here is my experience with installing roms on note 3 after unlock bootloader
you should Flash twrp-2.8.7.0-hlte-4.4.img by ODIN for the hlte roms or twrp-2.8.7.0-hltevzw-4.4.img if you looking to flash verizon roms ,
im on Phronesis Rom N7 now and i tryed many roms
AryaMod N7 & S7 Edge
MagMa-NX from NXT TEAM
Resurrection Remix Nougat 7.1.1
CM 13 ROM 6.0.1 for Trader418
Purify CM13 6.0.1 ( the best CM13 till now )
and more ...
i have only one problem that i cant get LTE in mobile network always on H+
i tryed to add screenshot but i couldn't its my firist reply
@ALPHA85
Pretty informative first post - thanks, and welcome aboard!
Are you on a Verizon SIM? If not, have you been flashing modems from other Note3 devices?
Just curious; I don't have much experience with radio issues or carrier activation issues. Trying to port a carrier-specific ROM elsewhere (esp starting from a VZW ROM) looks like a massive pile of interlocking software dependencies, though. My respect to anyone who can succeed at it.
Feel free to write a brief summary about what's broken in each - any of them have NFC working? I was on CM13 (trader418) for a long time and would have been happy to stay there were it not for all the GPS issues.
Thank you ,
i dont use Verizon SIM becouse im from egypt, i bought my verizon note 3 by wrong , when i bought it i saw N9005 under the battery and in the boot screen also inside the rom ,it was lollipop 5.0 ,but sinse i did factory rest i surprised it change to N900V even the imei changed , till now i cant understand how they flashed N9005 rom for N900V device with locked bootloader
i'm on OF1 bootloader unlocked and i flashed PL1 Modem i thought maybe it help me to get LTE but still the same H+
about NFC i really didn't try it at all , i always disable it by titanium pro

When you first got it, did it appear to have a Verizon ROM on it? (For instance, the Verizon splash screen?) Or some other carrier's logo?
Actually, that cleared something up for me. Well, except for the part about the IMEI changing
Apparently there were both LTE and GSM models of the "Note 3" that were sold in international markets. I understand the LTE version was originally sold in China, but the GSM model is more common?
The SM-N9005 is an LTE phone (I don't know about CDMA) with the Qualcomm MSM8974 processor
and the N9000 is the GSM model with an Exynos 5420 processor
So that probably explains the binary compatibility of the SM-N900V and the SM-N9005 - same processor, and both phones were designed for LTE service.
But your report should give @cyberoptics a little less pessimistic view of things; thank you for that.
But I wouldn't go so far as to say you can flash ANY Note 3 ROM. Even though both the Exynos and Qualcomm processors use ARM cores, they are fairly different - the Exynos has 8 cores, half of which are Cortex-A15, and the MSM8974 has only four cores which are Krait- something or other. I think they are not quite compatible. Note that in theory, ARM code that was compiled to earlier standards (e.g. thumb, armv5) would certainly work on both devices - but if they compiled ALL the code in ROM libraries that way they would be giving up a lot of performance on either device. So.... to the extent that they target processor specifics for either Cortex-A15 or Krait, they will be incompatible.
cheers.

bftb0 I just wanted to thank you once again for your consistently helpful, verbose posts about the N900V. I've been using CM13 thinking it was the best thing going, when, as nice as it was at the time, it doesn't hold water compared to AyraMod, which I switched to yesterday after reading this thread.
Now my GPS won't take me sailing past Easter Island when en route to a noon meeting downtown. Maybe Google Cardboard will even work, now that NFC appears to.
Thanks again, and please don't ever bore of being a great and helpful resource, we need you!
