IS there any Gyroscope? - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

So I got this early Max Pro M1 unit from ASUS and it does not have Gyroscope. ASUS Officials said that Gyroscopy is available on the retail unit. They also told me that they would release a firmware to activate the gyro, but until now, my gyro is not activated, even on the latest 30 April firmware (249)... So, do you guys have the gyro in your Max Pro M1?

Well it has I think. At least aida64 screenshot from one of the user from Indonesia says that it has gyro. Anyways what you mean by 30th April update? Did you received an ota recently? Btw you can join us on telegram for more instant conversation. t.me/ZFMaxpro

The latest update shows improvements in gyroscope as its description. So it will surely have.

No. I also don't have VR facility on my mobile. I am using Asus Zenfone Pro M1. I could play 360-degree video(offline). but we can not install google cardboard app.

Hey it does have a Gyroscope. Here look at the Screenshot I've clicked while checking sensors using CPU-Z app. Maybe they haven't enabled it for Cardboard app and may enable after tweaking software.

Turns out my unit is a beta testing unit... Now I have the retail version and it has Gyro... Case closed

I also got early batch of this phone, now already on 305 f/w.
Is there any way to activate gyro, is it s/w or h/w related issue?

ASUS Pixelmaster app port for zenfone max pro m1. Works?

Since the Snapdragon camera app provided with the zenfone max pro m1 is terrible. I was wondering whether a pixelmaster camera apk from asus works in the device or needs to be ported? Can anyone confirm the same.
Yes it works fine .
Are you sure? I'm talking about the ZenUI Camera App here not the stock Snapdragon Camera.
Can you provide screenshots if possible?
No, it works worse than the stock app. Moreover you can't install the latest version of Pixelmaster app.
Is there a way it can be ported? Even Zenfone 5 comes with SD636 and similar specs with zen ui5. So there's a possiblity.
I got the ZenUI Camera running too, but the Super Resolution does not work, and the output quality is worse than Gcam anyway.
You can get the apk from apkpure, or you can simply google zenui camera apk to find one.

API2 will be available for mi a2

Miui 10 got update with new camera APIs which is gonna be there for all. It is available in China now. I am sure Mi A2 will also get it in coming updates... Then we can enjoy the camera of This phone properly... Please correct if this news is wrong.
MIUI and Google One do not have anything in common, so I can not connect your expectation as relevant.
Incorrect
Right, well I don't know what your situation is with modding your Mi A2, but I discovered that after you've unlocked the bootloader & installed Magisk Root that if the flash this "MiUi Camera All Features" Magisk Module from another thread, this enables The Full level 3 Camera 2 API:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/themes/miui-camara-features-magisk-t3841269
This is a fantastic upgrade over the stock MiA2 camera app in itself. Xiaomi basically gimped the camera's features, as to not upstage much more expensive Xiaomi phones and this releases them such as 4k30p front video recording and enhanced HDR Pro Modes which work brilliantly.
However, the upshot of flashing this enabling Camera 2 is amazing for this reason. Just today I've been testing @Arnova8G2 's port of the Pixel 3 app and the HDR+ Enhanced is next level stuff. Portrait mode, front & back ,is also working fine. RAW file capture is also working. Gonna test out Nightsight tonight. You get a green screen through the viewfinder, but the shots do actually work. Only thing not working for me is slow mo....

Google said that the camera2api is coming with Android Pie. It is not present in the current beta but it might be later.

If you're referring to the 'Camera 2 API Will be enabled in android Pie CONFIRMED' thread, then the following is exactly what was said:
"Starting with Android Pie, newly launching devices are expected to have newer camera HAL versions, which will enable better support for camera2."
Does that include the A2? Because it's not a "newly launching device". And the statement implies, imho, it will be newly launching devices that launch with Pie.
That's not the A2. I wish they would enable it. but that statement above is a reach to believe "Google said that the camera2api is coming with Android Pie". they said newly launching, not upgraded to.
If Xiaomi giving camera 2 API in miui 10 update to its all phone then there is no reason that Xiaomi will not give it to mi A2. I am pretty confident that with the demand and competition Xiaomi will provide this feature to this device shortly.
Don't create a thread affirming something that you have no proof of.
Google is expanding their camera development, and that is the one of the main parts and improvements of PIE it self, to support multi cameras for example, you can read all about that on the official Android PIE page, but that doesn't mean nothing for us, unfortunately.
"Multi-camera support and camera updates
On devices running Android 9, you can access streams simultaneously from two or more physical cameras. On devices with either dual-front or dual-back cameras, you can create innovative features not possible with just a single camera, such as seamless zoom, bokeh, and stereo vision. The API also lets you call a logical or fused camera stream that automatically switches between two or more cameras.
Other improvements in camera include additional Session parameters that help to reduce delays during initial capture, and surface sharing that lets camera clients handle various use cases without the need to stop and start camera streaming. We've also added APIs for display-based flash support and access to OIS timestamps for app-level image stabilization and special effects.
In Android 9 the multi-camera API supports monochrome cameras for devices with FULL or LIMITED capability. Monochrome output is achieved via the YUV_420_888 format with Y as grayscale, U (Cb) as 128, and V (Cr) as 128.
Android 9 also enables support for external USB/UVC cameras on supported devices."

I have Mi A1, they haven't even provided the new camera app of MIUI 10, you are expecting too much, otherwise disappointment is sure.
Guys, by my post I am not affirming anything. I read some news about camera 2 API being enabled by Xiaomi for all its phones by miui 10 update and that has already been released for China.. so I am just trying to say that the probability of getting camera 2 API for this phone are very high now. In android pie or in coming updates we could get it. So no affirmative post but high probability post. Thanks

He's right. I saw the thread too in mi community. If Xiaomi enables c2api to Miui devices there's no doubt that they won't enable it to Mi a2

The mods won't bother to change something you can change yourself.
Bring up the original thread, click edit, then click 'Advanced'.
It will then allow you to change the title.
