Cannot install any custom Rom - ZTE Nubia Z17 Mini Questions & Answers

Hi,
somehow I might be the only one to face this issue, because I haven`t found any thread. I cannot install any custum rom. I don't know why. I am using TWRP 3.2.1.0 and everytime I want to flash a Rom I get an error saying "Zip file is corrupt" or sth like that. Anyone can help?

I cannot believe, that I am the only one who has this problem or that nobody ever heard of such a thing. I wonder what makes me so special

[Q] Bricked Tattoo

Hi guys, last month i receive an old tattoo from my sister. I was trying to update it to CyanogenMod 7 using the official guide in the cyanogenmod wiki, but for some reason it wasn't working. It gave me a lot of errors and i started looking other methods (note: rooted it before trying anything).
I think that the tattoo had something weird, cuz nothing was working. I couldn't install the clockworkmod recovery (also giving errors) so i installed another recovery called the maverick's recovery. I heard it couldn't install CM7, but i tried it anyway.
As expected, it didn't work, so i thought i could use another rom with froyo or something. I was derping around in the recovery when i saw another .zip file on the sd (not cm7). I dont know what it was, but i (yay im stupid) tried installing it anyway.
Of course, it bricked the phone
Currently, the tattoo doesn't boot, the fastboot doesn't boot, and, the recovery doesn't boot. I made a full backup at the start of all this process, but dunno what to do. I think there's no solution, but you guys are the best on this so i hope you can do something

I had this happen as well. To be honest I'm not sure what fixed it. Either a reboot or flashing another rom probably (was on the same version TW roms so not sure why that would matter). Goomanager did that once and next time I went in it found the recovery and installed.
Just to check but you are installing from menu/installopenrecoveryscript correct and not trying to search for it correct?
correct, im not doing the search just trying to have goo find it via menu/installopenrecoveryscript. as i said before i have tried this through several differant roms both AOSP and TW and have yet to get it to work.

You didn't give us nearly enough details to know why you are having problems. Lots of people use TWRP without problems and TWRP can certainly install custom ROMs. To have any idea why you are having difficulties, you'd have to give us a detailed, step by step description of what you did with your phone and the error messages that you received.
.
Ok I'm not sure what details to give you I got my phone on I used a rooting process off the unlocker.com for my phone and it worked but my recover doesn't work no mater witch one I use i have s5 g900f for t mobile I'm not sure if I should just try re-rooting my phone maybe? Also the error I'm getting for installing anything is just abort and it can't install because it can't open? and I know the files are not broken tried downloading from computer and phone and saving to my card and the phone. What else do you need me to provide? I'm using the alliance rom that isn't working right because of what is going on with my phone. I can't go back cuz my backups don't work because my recovery isn't working no matter what I use because it will always not complete the restore in either.
I went to get a error message now and now I just get a blank screen in recovery so it's frozen and I can't bring up anything just the name of any rom I try to flash.

Well we can't see your phone. And obviously there is no way to know what is going on if we can see it and you don't describe what you see in detail. For instance you say that you had an error message. But you don't paste the verbatim message here. Don't you think that message might be useful, if not critical.
For effective troubleshooting, you should post a detailed description of what you did, step by step and what was on screen. But I already said that in my last post and you disregarded the suggestion. I'm sure that others will guess at solutions for you. But efficient troubleshooting isn't possible without information.
.
1 If I told you I couldn't post the error message which I did because the recovery screen is blank what do you want me to post? I mean there is nothing on the screen to post there is nothing there because it froze it does not say open or anything there is nothing there unless you want to see a blank background. 2 If you mean what I used to root it would be CF root. Other then that I tried philz and twrp both have the same blank screen when you try to open a zip to install. would you like a black screen for twrp or a or blank purple and pink screen for philz with no text ? I posted that I went for an error message but the screen is blank and I can't make anything happen now. I can't give something when nothing is currently there. I'm just going to flash stock and unroot then root and see if that fixes my problem.

On5 SM-G550T1 Custom Rom Sound Issues/Stock ROM Install issues.

Hello everyone a couple issues i have with my Samsung SM-G550T1. i installed a custom ROM (Galaxy Knight V2, upgrading to V3), because i accidentally removed the stock OS. No sound no camera, i have been reading multiple forms on this and cant find any fix for the sound (i dont mind the camera not working), if at all possible though i have found a few stock Rom files floating around for my model. every time i try to flash with Odin v3 it always fails after 'recovery.img' i am flashing all 4 file parts.
anyways can someone tell me how to flash the Stock ROM, or is there a sound fix for the custom ROM?
thanks guys ive been at this for months.
Also my wife has the same exact model phone, anything i can take from that to fix any issues?

I see the date on this is years ago...
If I were you I'd get the wifes on5 and backup recovery (recovery.img) using twrp app from playstore then flash twrp recovery via fast boot and make a backup and transfer it to computer or external sdcard as soon as it's done, flash stock recovery back on wife's and reboot and take sdcard out or grab backup off pc and transfer onto yours and restore it and reboot. That's what I'd do if it was me... Far as I know sound is NOT fixed yet. We have a few guys who are smart as hell working on it. Hopefully it will get solved soon.
I hate TouchWiz. Lol.

"Signature spoofing" patch (so I can run MicroG) on stock ROM?

I fiddled with it while over-tired and inadvertently installed 'standard' LineageOS when I'd meant to install LineageOS for MicroG. And I did not note the error until I had invested considerably more time setting up all of my pet apps. And I haven't yet started using this phone as my every-day so I thought it would be best to rebuild from scratch using the Lineage for OS MicroG ROM rather than patching the LineageOS kernel. Take the time to do it right the first time so I don't have to find the time later to do it over, capisci?
Except that while I was doing all this configuration/customization it occurred to me that I really would have liked to have kept some of the features of the stock Motorola ROM, such as facial recognition and waving my hand in front of the screen while in screensaver to cause the clock to appear momentarily. Not to mention I'm not feeling the love for some of the default LOS apps. So I thought I would at least look into the possibility of going back to the stock ROM, applying the signature spoofing patch and MicroG to it, and using Android Firewall to limit the proprietary apps phoning home to Mother.
So my first question is, is it even possible? Can I apply the "signature spoofing" patch to the stock ROM? I'm running LOS 16.0 now so I've already got the bootloader unlocked, TWRP recovery flashed, and the phone is rooted with Magisk (which I am modestly familiar with). And if it is possible, how is it done (to include sources for the patch file(s)?
Second, where can I get the stock ROM? I've already downloaded ROMS from three different sites claiming they were the correct build# (PPOS29.114.16.5.2) but when I tried to flash them (through TWRP recover) all three failed for signature errors. So I don't know if there's actually a problem with the ROMs or if there's some trickery I need to use so flashing will ignore the error.
Thanks for your time!
Sorry, one edit needed. The error message trying to install a stock ROM is "Invalid zip file format", not a "signature error" as I originally wrote.
I got a stock ROM installed and it seems to be working okay. I used RSD Lite running on Windows (didn't know they still made Windows) to perform a "fastboot flash." Using one of the same three files that had errored out for invalid zip when I tried to flash them from TWRP recovery.
And now ... off to root and put MicroG on it. The current plan is to give Nanodroid a shot. If anyone has a better idea, please speak up.

I am not sure what most of your first post is about? is the signature just what the phone reports itself as. If that is the case then imagine you could spoof it in the build.prop. If not, sorry man.

Sorry, I mis-remembered the error. I ran it again and the actual error was "Invalid zip file format", not a "signature error." Which I got around by switching to a Windows host and flashing using RSD Lite rather than adb.
But that phone suffered a catastrophic SIM/SD card slot failure and had to be sent back. I've ordered another G7, and I'm well-rehearsed in unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone, but I'm still looking for a school-approved method for 'patching' the kernel to support signature spoofing so I can install and run MicroG. From my research I'm I'm given to believe this is best done using Nanodroid, so if anyone has a better idea, please let me know.
