Gorrila Glass ??? - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

Does this phone have Gorrila glass protection ?

No. It doesn't. It just has 2.5D curved glass in front. No gorillla glass.

BTW everyone uses Tempered Glass nowadays, doesn't matter if its Zenfone Max Pro or Galaxy S9 alongwith Protective Case. So it won't make any difference.
And you can buy Complete protection for a whole year only for RS 49 and thats nothing if we compare to our daily expenses.

The screen damage protection is included in the complete protection? To be more precise I want to know if somehow the screen breaks or gets a scratch it will be replaced for free if I buy the complete protection?

No Gorilla Glass... But they dropped it from 2-3 meters high when they test it on the factory

No Gorilla Glass as ASUS has already confirmed amidst the speculations, but, BUT, it has a special screen protection by ASUS which they claim isn't bad at all, of course, it ca't be compared with the Corning Gorilla Glass as yet. I don't know the quality of that screen's protection but ti should be better than a normal screen of course..
Moreover, this shouldn't really be a big concern as most users will have a tempered glass protection on top. So nothing to worry about.

Yes, if its dropped or gets broken then its covered. Not for Scratches though. BTW who asks for screen replacement for Scratches.??

So screen protector / tempered glass still needed ?
or the screen is safe without it.

I'm bad English.

The screen is already strong enough, asus already testing it in their factory (in batam), slamming it from 2 meters high using robot, and the screen doesn't crack at all!

For someone who might want to see the video.
Skip to 14:28 if you want to see the slamming method.
I will still put TG/screen protector though, it is much cheaper and make me sleep better.

scratch resistance and impact resistance are two dirrerent things. Impact resistant glass would not mean its scratch resistant. If the phone falls down on screen, it might not shatter, but through daily use, you'd probably get scratches easily. Better get a good quality tempered glass for protecting against scratches.

Just buy a tempered glass on Tokopedia, it's dirt cheap and costs like around 20k Rupiah (which is the cheapest) and around 100k for the most expensive. Better safe than sorry imo, also the stock screen from what I've heard only provides the oleophobic coating so the more reason to get an extra layer of protection.

I've had no issues using an Invisible Shield screen protector for over a week.
i dont know most people wont have any issues out of a screen protector i dont use them just for the fact of i dont like the feel of them
I use Hard-Shield Nano Coating Screen Spray on Protector (also known as Dynaflo LIQUID-ARMOR Universal Invisible Nano Tech Screen Protector) and it works great for 6 months, then you just reapply. It's really easy to apply and it comes with the best microfiber cleaning cloth I've ever found, too.
I've been using screen protector and never had problems .

Gorilla glass 3 doesnt need a screen protector. Unless you all walk around with pockets full of sand. Might I add they make the screen look horrible, they smudge and grey over. All you need is a good spigen case and you are good to go.
I use Mime USA's Ghost Tempered Glass & it works perfectly. It works with gloves on when I have the screen sensitivity on to full blast. That's the one I use & WILL ONLY use. VERY affordable & works GREAT with the S-Pen. A MUST investment if you are going to rock the sweet 5.7 inch 1080p Galaxy Note 3. :good:

You couldn't be more wrong. Everyone that's seen my phone never EVEN realize that it has a screen protector. Mine is as CLEAR as glass because it IS a piece of tempered glass. It makes Gorilla Glass 3 literally shatter proof. This is a MUST especially considering the giant 5.7 inch 1080p screen the Galaxy Note 3 has.

Gorilla Glass is scratch resistant not scratch proof, a good screen protector will not even be noticeable.
I use the Spigen Ultra Crystal and you cannot even notice it is there.
I don't think it smudges anymore than a naked screen.
hey if you want to waste your money on something useless and degrades the quality of the super amoled pixally goodness its your perogative *thumbs up
gorilla glass 3's ndr rating is effectivly 3 times more resistant to scratches than GG2. If you can scratch this screen you dont deserve to own a $700 device.
I suppose it has its uses though. Like if you ever need to sos a comercial passenger plane at 30,000 feet you should have no problems with the glare those things put off.

Accidents happen, I don't mind "wasting" a little money to protect the screen on a $800 device. Again, it's scratch resistant not scratch proof, if it was scratch proof then I wouldn't use one. To each their own I guess.

I use XtremeGuard on mine. It cost 3.99 on ebay and it has better quality than invisibleshield--IMHO. I've used it on my pebble, wife's s4, my note 2, and my note 3, and I 've been nothing but satisfied. I don't know if I can post a link to it, but just search XtremeGuard Note 3 in ebay.
*Note--no pun intended--this is a wet install protector. I prefer this because dust is less likely* Also you will have to wait about a half a day before you can effectively use the spen after your install
I find that a can of compressed air gets rid of all dust...if done properly

I disagree with your statements. Gorilla glass 1, 2,3 is nothing special. It scratches just as easy if not easier than other screens out there. I honestly believe that gorilla 3 is worse than 2. My GN3 Gorilla glass 3 scratched before i could get a screen protector on it. I did nothing out of the ordinary. GG3 is super easy to scratch and I would put apples glass as superior in scratch resistance from my experience.
I think a good quality screen protector is needed, and I agree that some do interfere with the picture quality but not all do.
I use iloome tempered glass screen protector and I also have a spigen slim armor love it no rainbow effects you can't even tell I have a screen protector on.

TBH 1 use the cheap china ones on ebay. Have for a tablet and 2 phones.
Around a buck with free shipping.
I have honestly never had an Issue and they have done perfect work.
Hell, I got a TPU case for 1 dollar, free shipping too. I don't mind the sometimes 2 week shipping.
Just my 2¢

Protect your phone glass by having a good case and only placing your phone in its own compartment in either a pocket or your purse. Do not have any lose items such as keys, coins,or other metal objects in the same compartment as your phone and do not place your phone face down no matter what. Voila a screen with no scratches......and no need for a tempered glass screen protector...may as well buy a S5 active if you need this.

What kind of tempered protector? So far on amazon all tempered glass protectors failed for N4, due to sloped edges on screen.
I work in mobile sales and often put on screen protectors. I see lots of people come in with phones(iPhones,Andriods etc) only a few days old and they have light scratches on the screen. The scratches aren't noticeable when the display is on though. The fluorosilane coatings(oleophobic ) can raise the glass surface hardness to 9H, which is very hard. Pretty much no metals can scratch the cover glass but even a tiny sand grain on the desk that you don't see can easily do some damage on a display when it's played face down, sand and other similar grit is the real enemy when it comes to scratches since it's one of the few things hard enough to scratch the cover glass.

Yes we do.
Today I was very dishearted to notice a few micro scratches on my screen.
So now I have to buy a screen protector as I prefer using the phone naked. I was hoping to not buy one because the phone is so beautiful and glass protectors are so expensive, but compared to the amount I will have to pay to get an insurance claim on the phone, it's cheap. I am so disappointed in myself. I love my phone very much and thought I was taking very good care of it, but I guess I wasn't as careful as I should be. I bought into the hype of GG4 and not it's going to cost me.
Owed my Note 4 since its release with no screen protector and far not one scratch.
But in fairness I'm usually good about not getting scratches on my phone. Im always aware when I put it in my pocket making sure I have no keys for items that will cause scratches.
No scratches here. I'm rocking the tech 21 impactology case (most of the time), no screen protector.
I've had this note 4 since the 3rd day they were out.
I will always use a screen protector...for the sole fact that its a biatch to keep it clean lol

They were really hard to see so I just kept rubbing the area with a micro fiber cloth for about 30 minutes. They are still there but you have to put the phone real close to your face with light coming from the side.
I found a $25 tempered glass screen protector today after work at a mobile phone store. There is a halo effect, but I feel much better now. I'm still looking at this one though.

The micro scratches most likely come from pieces of sand in pockets. They can do a number on a display.

There is always this debate with every new phone. I got a few micro scratches in the first month of owner ship. Just like every other device. Better safe than sorry because unless your screen is made of diamond resistant is not the same as scratch proof.
Lol screen protector is not expensive . Got me a pair of 6 really good ones I love them came even tell they are there. DO NOT BUT ANTI GLARE. It ruins the beautiful display. Got mine for $13 from Amazon.

Im impressed by it . . . I I dropped my phone on the train platform after stepping out the train with sview case. Screen was still flawless.
Needless to say I did but an otterbox as my commuter and save the s view when I wann abe sexy.
Overall the note 4 drop test versus nexus 6 really shows the strength of CGG4.
The tmobile screen protector is pretty decent, they are $18 but they will usually discount to $10. Most important it does not impede vr gear. After a week of use the protector smooths out and is completely unnoticeable to touch. For gear s I use the Iq screen protector and it's flawless
I got my Note 4 home, examined and admired it's beauty, and then put it in an otterbox defender!!! Better safe than sorry!

[Discussion]Motorola is fooling us??

Motorola says that the Z PLAY has Gorilla glass (3 or 4, they haven't confirmed till now!).
But there are many cases of breaking of glass of Z PLAY at very first drop.
If the glass used in the device is Gorilla glass it should not break!
Even Motorola hasn't confirmed the Version of Gorilla glass used in this device because Glass used in this device isn't a gorilla glass but a normal glass.(That just protects the screen from some scratches)
It isn't fair!
WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING!
THEY CAN'T SIMPLY FOOL US.!
Gorrila Glass brakes. If it's a 3 or a 4 it's just harder to scratch it. Gorrila Glass 5 is harder to brake than usual but the rest brake.
Phones with gorilla glass 3 have been out for quite some time now, and they break like any other phone. It's just more scratch resistant. And any phone could break on the first fall, because they aren't made for falling (except for CAT ones). But, if you use a screen protector and a bumper case, you should be fine.
Glass breaks. Get over it.
Whether it is gg 3 or 4 I don't know. But while my Moto g 2014's screen was free from scratches for over 2 years of usage this phone has picked up some microscratches in 6 months.

Do what everyone else in the world does when they have a smartphone. Take precautions. Buy a good case and screen protector. Obviously everyone wants to sympathize with you, but glass breaks. Period. End of story.
Gorilla glass does break sometimes as for my z play i have a bumper case and i have dropped my phone at least 5 times and it hasn't broke so i'm good with it so far god bless!
Gorilla Glass isn't unbreakable. If you drop your phone it is natural it breaks, regardless of OEM. Just use a good case if you're concerned about it.
Never been on ebay before, eh? It's full of shattered GG from every make and model of phone with every generation of GG. The people who tell you no one needs screen protectors or cases are full of it. You can risk going without if you greatly value the aesthetics, but if you drop your phone, especially on the corner or against some sharp object (like a rock or corner of a coffee table etc), you can break the glass easily enough. A case with a good lip, good corner protection and a TGSP are a lot cheaper than insurance or device replacement.
Gorilla glass breaks , use good case, no need lf scratch gaurd, using z play since 6 months without scratch gaurd and i am running good.
I'm using device with Back cover and also one external glass(Temper glass).

Other companies give best glass like GG 4 or 5 on under 20k.
Moto use GG 3 in Z Play but is very thin and is easily breakable.
Back glass is also of very bad quality and is easily scratchable.
Camera lens are also of low quality and are scratched easily even if we use shell and backcover also.
Performance is decent and gaming is also decent in the device
The quality of material used are of very low quality.
And this is done to differentiate the device from it's bigger version Moto Z (That uses shatterproof display and good quality material)

[S10+ ceramic black] Screen scratches

Hi all,
I've used the S10+ black for 1 week now and found several micro scratches and one slightly deeper one on the front already. No screen protector, but treated the same way as my S8 for 2 years. The s8 has spent time with keys and other stuff in my pocket, yet nothing happened to the screen over the years. The S10 though...
Whats your experience so far?
The S10 plus comes with a pre installed screen protector. Is the scratches on the protector or you removed it? And the Gorilla glass 6 is pretty soft and scratches at 6 hardness. So you need one if you removed the screen protector by mistake.

Yes, I've removed the protector, of course. As I did with all the Galaxy models in the past. I wasn't aware it was "needed" for this model? That'd be a new one. I mean,. people said about the Gorilla 5 it'd be softer (with the S8 2 years back) and indeed, it didn't take hits from nothing. If I can believe Gorilla's website, the 6th gen is supposed to be better scratch resistant than the 5th.
GG6 being softer (to resist breakage) but more scratch prone is a concern of mine. 1 week in I have still not removed the screen protector.
LOL, so we can drop it from an airplane and pound it with a sledge hammer, but don't put it in your pocket with spare change.

No wonder.. Too bad, this is an actual real screen protector installed by Samsung, not the usual flimsy plastic film that covers a new phone. This was mentioned in the news. I also did not know about it but I did not remove it when I first got the phone as I realised it was a screen protector after looking at the quality of the film.
Look at the s8 and s10 durability test videos on the JerryRigEverything channel
The durability test videos on the JerryRigEverything channel show that both the s8 and the s10 screens start scratching at level 6.
The most logical explanation of what happened to you is that your s10's screen got in contact with a material harder than anything else your s8 encountered before.

Well, it hasn't. Maybe its faulty. I will return it due to faulty display durability and order a new one ?* Thank the EU & Germany for customer rights and laws in this regard. But BTW; it was almost the same with my Galaxy Watch. The bezel was very susceptible to scratches. Sent it in to Samsung and they replaced the whole display incl. bevel for free. So... Maybe Im just very unlucky.
S10+ screen scratches
My husband and I both purchased the s10+ and both phones have micro scratches on them. This Gorilla glass is not as good as previous samsung models. And, NO, the phones did not come with a screen protector.

Just checked the phone and found there is a screen protector on the phone. Apparently this is the reason there are so many micro scratches which I cannot clean.
I took mine off because it had deep scratching and replaced with a tempered glass protection, which was good for a month until it fell off last week. Luckily I have no scratches yet, although I'm very cautious of which pocket I put my phone in and never put anything else along with it. Doesn't mean there's no micro scratching I can't see though.
Newer generations of Gorilla Glass became less scratch resistant in favor of greater drop protection because Gorilla Glass doesn't currently know how to maximize both. Drop protection was given higher priority when smartphone bezels started to disappear and many owners were cracking the displays on their expensive new phones the first time they dropped them.
