[Request] Persist.img for ZC551KL - Asus ZenFone 3 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I've been without sensors nor camera for a while now (almost a year), got broken because an OTA update. Tried downgrading, didn't work.
Yesterday I managed to root and install TWRP, did some research and heard about ''persist'' partition. I've been searching for similar cases but no luck. Also tried deleting sns.reg
Can someone provide me the persist.img stock file? So I can finally fix my sensors.
Broken sensors:
Gyroscope
Ambient light
Accelerometer
Proximity
Fingerprint
Camera Flash isn't working either.

Solved, download the firmware version you have here and look for persist.img. The firmware comes with it but the install script doesn't use it. Just flash it:
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot reboot

Hello friend,i have similar problems, apart from fingerprint sensor, all my sensors and cameras, camera light are not working, will i loose imei numbers if i flash the persist img ? i dont know how to flash persist img,can you help me please?

Did you also have broken sensors issue and it is fixed now? I want to try it on my ZS570KL too, but is there a persist.img for this phone?

Depending on your OS version yes, contact me on Telegram @GuerrillaRadi0 (the last character is zero) maybe I can help you, after I fixed the problem I configured fingerprint security and the problem came back, so I tried to flash persist.img again and it didn't work, so I got the raw rom of the Oreo version I have; WW-15.0210.1810.73, which comes with its own ADB, and flashed from there, the same raw rom has the persist.img. After that all sensors worked again, so I configured fingerprint security again just to be sure, and again I lost all the sensors, but after deactivate fingerprint again everything worked fine, I guess I have some hardware issue related to fingerprint sensor, I guess it was because a technician opened the phone to replace screen and battery 2 months ago. I always used fingerprint so I need to go back to pattern.
Good luck

After some days without any issue the problem came back, I flashed persist.img twice and it worked, but about 3 days ago I can't solve this flashing persist.img, I tried wiping everything, downgrading to Nougat, then flashing Oreo, with TWRP and via flashtool, no solution, any other idea?? all sensors are not working.
Thanks in advance

Fingerprint sensor freaked out on CM12.1

Hi.
I've been looking for similar problem here but I've found nothing.
Here's my situation.
Stock rom
Unlocked bootloader, changed recovery to TWRP
Backed up stock rom, flashed CM13
*CM13 apps are crappy* Backed up CM13 and restored stock rom.
Current status: fingerprint sensor freaks out. I've came up to this in camera app as soon as it started to take billions of selfies (idiotic feature of taking picture by fingerprint sensor). Then checked if I can set finger pattern - not at all, ZUK started to take thousands of patterns and vibrating all the time. It's hard to explain, but it seems that sensor stucks in a loop that scan fingerprint and somehow founds it (even if ZUK is lying down untouched).
Best of all is that, when I restore CM13, sensor does fine as new, so it can't be strictly hardware issue, drivers perhaps?
The fact is I don't really need fingerprint scanner and best solution would be disabling it.
Any ideas how to do this? Or what really happened and how to restore its functionality?

You can try to delete /data/system/users/0/fpdata/user.db and /data/system/0/users/settings_fingerprint.xml. Then reboot.
Another possibility is to reflash stock rom, not restore backup!
I have also been through the same situation. Restoring the COS 12.1 will freak out the Fingerprint scanner and camera issue as well. The best option is to flash the Stock ROM COS 12.1.
Happened to me aswell.

You can't downgrade android version via backup because each Android version needs different firmware files so if you want to roll back from mm to lollipop you must flash the needed firmware files, you can do that flashing cos12.1 via twrp or fastboot.

Proximity and light sensors are not working in my OP2

I am on OxygenOS 3.5.6. Few days ago my proximity sensor stopped working. The screen does not switch off automatically when I bring it near my ear during a call. Also it does not adjust the screen brightness in dim and bright light. I have to keep the automatic brightness adjustment off because if I turn it on, it just turns the brightness to lowest even in bright light in surroundings. I tried to check the values of the proximity and light sensors in some sensors diagnostics app, but the entry of proximity and light sensor does not show up at all as if these sensors are not even present in my device. I am sure I was able to see the values of these sensors when they were working fine. I have tried apps like AndroSensor, CPU-Z, Sensors test. What could be the reason. Thanks in advance
Have you dropped the phone recently and caused any damage? It's unlikely, as the oneplus 2 is fairly robust. I mean I'm currently using it with a cracked screen after it fell down a scaffold. And I think only reason screen cracked was a unlucky placed stone dead in the corner.
It might be a software issue? As the diagnostic apps say there isn't anything there. This is just a hunch. I'd suggest backing up your OS in TWRP or what ever you use. And doing a cache wipe.
If that fails maybe try flashing a random rom. And gaps. See if that fixes your problem at all? With out seeing the phone and playing with it there not a great deal I can do.
But try the above.

Actually I already did that. I had a nandroid backup of older version of OxygenOS where those sensors were working. I took nandroid backup of current OS and restored the older one. Still couldnt make those sensors work. I havent dropped my phone recently, the sensors stopped working just out of the blue.

Ah I see very odd.
Well I did some searching for you .
There's an xda thread that discusses it found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...overy-teamwin-recovery-project-3-0-0-t3310713 post #2. It comes down to flashing the persist image found in the recovery zip. Which I've only ever done once or twice so sorry I didn't immediately jump to it. In fastboot mode do:
Code:
Fastboot flash persist persist.Img
Its found in the recovery.zip I belive . I hope it helps.

Thanks for taking time to search that thread however the link you posted is broken. I guess you are referring to this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65367381&postcount=54
The above thread is for H2OS and the persist.Img mentioned in this thread is to roll back to lollipop. I am currently on MM OOS so I guess I cannot use those files.
The TWRP recovery for OP2 are available as .img files only and not as .zip as you can see here https://dl.twrp.me/oneplus2/. So just to make sure if that persist.img is available on recovery.zip, I downloaded the zip file of other device and checked but persist.img was not there. I also checked in the full rom zip of MM OOS and persist.img was not there too. So not sure from where to get that img now.
Also is there a way to make backup of my current persist.img in the device? Because I dont want to break my phone any further while experimenting with these flashings.
Hi, few months back i flashed h2os and flashed few custom roms. but later on i found that i had broke all my sensors even camera app doesnt work. No help from service center. pleaseeee help me

Sensors working stopped

I have recently unlock my boot loader and install a custom rom on my asus zenfone max pro m1, at that movement my sensors are working fine, once i was update the custom rom all sensors did not working, except proximity and light sensor, and i had a problem with flash light torch it is also not working properly.
I have verified with stock rom firmware but problem was not solved. And i have tried factory reset, but output is zero.
Kindly help me out, is it any software issue or hard brick??

Actually I don't know, how it returned back.. But same issue happened to me thrice.. Each time when it happens I start changing firmware 53 to 59, 59 to 82 or 82 to 59, 59 to 53 something like that..
After flashing firmware, sometimes all sensors returns back automatically.. But sometime it doesn't work.. But if you try same process everyday two or three time then someday sensors will return back.. I know it's illogical but believe me I have seen this two times..
If anyone has any better solution please share.. Before that try changing firmware and check which works perfect for you..
It's not a custom ROM related issue.. Same things happened to me even with stock ROM.. I called service centre and they told me it is motherboard related issue.. But as I told you after changing firmware it returns back so I think it's definitely firmware related issue..
Enjoy..

Touchscreen not working

Dear all,
I had been using the A1 with Oreo, rooted with magisk, and I have enjoyed the device pretty much. OTA updates went smooth, but after upgrading from Oreo to Pie I've ended up in a bootloop. In the course of fixing this (applying various Nougat, Oreo and Pie stock images) I could resolve the bootloop, but now the touchscreen does not work properly anymore.
Obviously the x and y axis are totally wrong and trying to push a key or button does not work since the tap is registered somewhere else on the screen. Beside this, all other sensors and functions are working to 100%. I can only control the device via OTG/mouse.
I have tried a multitude of recommendations found in various threads on Xiaomi or XDA site, but none of the tips like applying a dedicated old Nougat ROM has led to any success. Furthermore I could not use any of the known apps (e.g. tscalibrate2.apk) to renew the calibration data.
I am completly out of ideas and warranty since I've bought the device in Germany where Xiaomi is not present. The problem persists on any ROM I have tried so far, whether it is tissot_images_7.12.19_7.1, tissot_images_V10.0.4.0.PDHMIXM_9.0, TWRP 3.2.1 and many others.
My questions are:
1) Does anybody know where the calibration data is stored? Is it e.g. in the persist.img which I have flashed from stock already without sucess?
2) Is there any working solution to manually or app wise renew or configure the calibration data?
3) Are there any known approaches to fix this by using a special rom or fastboot or adb sequence or via TWRP?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help on this.
Best regards,
Merian

Fingerprint Issue - Guide does not fix (lost after reboot)

Hi,
So I have had some trouble with the fingerprint scanner on my OnePlus 8 Pro. So I followed the persist.img fix guide but unfortunately the issue was not fixed. I assumed that this would mean the phone had no chance of regaining the use of fingerprint scanner. But I decided to reflash with msm as the guide requires and follow all the steps from the beginning again. Still no luck.
The third time, instead of replacing the data and engineermode (not replacing gf_persist.so) as the guide says, I just tried using the fingerprint scanner. It worked perfectly. I could enroll new fingerprints and even use them to unlock as usual. The issue is that this only lasts until the next shutdown/reboot. After that, I must redo the fingerprint test (and fail it) to regain use of fingerprint.
Can anybody recommend some sort of solution for this. I would like to be able to run lineage on here as I have on other phones in the past but I dont think i'm able to use the fingerprint test in the phone app as I can while running oxygen. Thanks for any help.
I have the same problem. Any solutions?

Its another solution, do you have magisk?
I have the same and on top of that my other sensors seem messed up as well...banging my head against the wall
I have no clean persist backup ...
Can anyone please send me their persist.img if you have Oneplus 8 Pro European version?
I know it might give me problems with the fingerprint sensor but at least the others would work..
Did you ever get your fingerprint scanner working? I know it's a long shot u seeing this reply since it's old lol. But Im having same issue after msm and upgrading to OS 13..
