Roma for Huawei nova 2i - Huawei Nova 2i (Mate 10 Lite / Honor 9i) Questions

Are there any Roms for Android 8 or 8.1 for Huawei nova 2i I can't find any for Australia.

Unfortunately nope, IMO this device is not one of the high end devices for it to be able to grab custom ROM/android development attention.
Btw you already updated to the latest 8.0 OREO?. nice to see another australian here with the same phone.

Higher possibilities for custom rom now?

Phone released in Europe now. Waiting for mine, should be here within a few days. Do you think there will be any custom roms available soon, or at all?
Just made a quick search online and can't find any, and also read that it's against the rules here on xda to link to them in that case? How come?
maybe if Huawei or Honor release source code with binary.. without i thing is impossible or very very complicated, but we are waiting..
If you want to run aosp based roms like CyanogenMod then Honor/Huawei is a pretty bad choice.
Better get a Qualcomm powered phone.
it is a HiSilicon Kirin 935 CPU working. The CPU-Code is absolutely unknown for the moment! No Code = No possibility to get a custom rom!
Or did you know any other Kirin smartphone with a running custom rom on it???
There were a number of custom roms for huawei P6 (released 2013, i owned one) for sure. But not into custom roms, so not sure what was the progress with honor 6 (2014, owned it) and Honor 6 plus on custom roms. Could go through Mate 7, and P8 forums as well.
Possible if searching through Chinese websites might find MIUI 6 for honor 7 or something of that sort.

Many nice people on this site.
Whenever you have any issue with your tablet, please mention the full firmware version, tablet model. It will be easy for others to help you and answer your questions.
I have BTV-DL09 (LTE version , European ROM). My firmware is BTV-DL09C100B301. I just posted this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72048190&postcount=8 in another thread. You can have a look at the screenshots of Android nougat on my tablet.
Enjoy & you will have more fun when you update to Nougat.(whenever you are ready)
Stock ROM is very stable on this tablet.

Thanks
Day 2 with the mediapad 3 and I am still having fun.
I am not sure what you mean by "full firmware version". I have Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) + Huawei Emotion UI 4.1. Is that what you mean? What benefit is there in updating to Nougat. I am a person who gets set in his way. I fought windows 10 as long as I could.

When I said full firmware version, I meant this -> BTV-DL09C100B301 (my firmware version)
BTV-DL09 is LTE version (supports sim) , BTV-W09 (WIFI only version) So full firmware version prevents ambiguity and unnecessary problems. The reason I told you is because there is BTV-DL09C233BXX and there is one more version which I don't remember at this moment. Each one is different because it specifies region. So if you have C100BXX and if you flash C233BXX on top of that. Then it might cause problems. So when you provide full firmware version, it makes it easier for others to help. Besides C233 has rooted version firmware available. So to know if you are one of those lucky people too you need to give full firmware version. To find full firmware version you check in Settings -> About .
Benefits of Nougat? It is beautiful, faster, smoother, even better battery life. I have posted screenshots of my tablet running nougat, that can give you a better idea. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72048190&postcount=8 By the way Windows 10 v1703 Creators update is really good! Fast boot speed, games are smooth, performance is really good. Edge is really good too. Cortana is soothing & enjoyable as always. I like it and totally recommend everyone who haven't used it. Both Nougat on Huawei Mediapad M3 & Windows 10 creators update too.
Hope you find this information useful.
Lot of effort goes in to typing my posts. Please don't forget to click on :good::good::good::good::good:::good::good::good::good: in my posts.
Thanks again
When I checked settings I find "Build number BTV-W09C128B003 " Is that also the "firmware version"?
How do I upgrade to Nougat? Seriously, could I run into problems doing this? With windows especially I kept hearing people complain of problems with upgrades. Things seem to be running well now and this is already the fastest tablet I have ever had by far!!!!! By the way I have Windows 10 now because older computer died and I had to get a new one with 10. Kind of like it.

Installing EMUI 8/5

Hey I am using a Cam L21 Y6 ii which is almost similar to P8 lite on hardware and software. It won't receive any more updates to android 7/8.Even if it just crossed his 1st year.So I know cause of kernal, drivers etc etc....all ROMs can't be installed on all devices. But I also saw some videos on YouTube. They say EMUI 5 on any device or so on...My device is 4.1.3 which was updated few months back when other Huawei devices were getting the EMUI 5 update.I have rooted my device with ADB.Twrp is also installed.I wanna update my EMUI to version 5/8 whatever if it's possible.Dont wanna go to custom ROMs cause they are pretty much unstable. So is these videos true...is this possible...if yes how?

Huawei Nova 2i - RNE-L22

Hi All,
I am looking to replace my increasing unreliable and aged Samsung Galaxy S5 with a Huawei Nova 2i. From some reading I have done, it seems that the Nova 2i is essentially the same as the Mate 10 lite as per a few article (New user, so I can't add links, sorry - Google "nova 2i rebranded mate 10 lite" and you will see the article). I am still unsure on a few details regarding installing Custom Androids etc, so thought I'd come to the experts.
Here are some specifics on devices:
Current Phone:
Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F with TWRP and Resurrection Remix Android Oreo)Replacement candidate:
Huawei Nova 2i (RNE-L22)
So what I am looking to know is the following:
Is the Nova 2i the same as the Mate 10 lite?
Can I install Resurrection Remix Oreo on this phone and is it a good option for this phone?
If I can install Resurrection Remix Android on this phone, where would I get the O/S to install?
If I can't install Resurrection Remix, what is a good low resource O/S Android Oreo I should consider that will work for this phone? (I want things as simple and clean as possible, I will install minimal Google Play/Services as and when required)
Thanks in advance for any help and excuse any details I may have missed that you need. I am still a bit new to this side of the tech world.

Yes, it's the same. However, you do not need to look for any custom Oreo ROM. Nova 2i already received Oreo official update (EMUI8.0).
I have this device and it's superb! I can play any games!

Hi! I received today the HarmonyOS update in my MHA AL00
I have google play, I don't want to lose it. I don't know if install the update or not
Finally have HarmonyOS running on rebranded MHA-AL00 (rebranded from MHA-L29 C567). I am using it as a daily driver now and see what the experience will be like. I also installed Google Play Store. In the meantime, if anyone has any questions, I can try to answer. I suspect underneath, it might still be 9.1. EMUI based. For instance, there is still no dark mode in the settings.
how to rebrand mate 9 MHA-L29 with android 9 to chinese rom MHA-AL00
Does it still work on Android 9? https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-update-package-and-downgrade-nougat.3699522/

how did you rebrand MHA-AL00
Sorry to hijack the thread, but this isn't a common device now and I'm needing help.
I switched to my Mate 9 from my OnePlus 6t for a weekend of concert recording and set a new passcode just in case I dropped it. When I got home, I put it in the drawer and switched back to my OnePlus. I intended to pull the content off but forgot to plug it in so it could charge - it died in the drawer and requires a passcode to unlock. The few weeks after I set the random code, I couldn't remember it, and I've been trying to pluck away at it, but the time limitation makes it an issue.
Is there any way to remove the passcode? If I flash TWRP and a ROM, will it remove the startup lock? I don't want to just factory reset as I will lose all of my data.

I paid a guy $15 for this. Google "Ministry Of Solutions". There are many instructions on this forum, but I tried a couple without success. Probably messed up a step or two somewhere. I had original US version (MHA-L29 C432), then rebranded to EU version (MHA-L29 C567) - I did this conversion myself, and now on to (MHA-AL00) China version with HarmonyOS 2. Runs as daily driver fine and speedy. kind of like the new UI and grouping of icons. I think underlying it's still Android 9.1
