Thanks for letting us know

I am using h990ds and i haven't got any update after september 2017!

Taiwan variant H990DS im still on NOV security patch.

Can it be rolled back like the previous updates for root purposes?

Is anyone else getting severe battery drain after this update? My phone's been running hot ever since, and nothing (no single app) appears to be the culprit when I dig into Settings.

My VS995 upgraded to 1BA a couple of days ago and it hasn't caused any problems. You can boot into safe mode and check if the problem persists there.

Yes you can downgrade from 1B to 12a or 13a.

Yes!!! My phone has less than half the battery life now. I've done battery historian and every battery app I can find and it always shows up as Unaccounted battery usage. It's got to be this security patch.

Did a google search for the same issues found this thread. I'm having the same problems with rapid batter discharge and unstable apps after the "Security" update.

Well I cannot downgrade from 1B to 12a. I've used LGUP. Am I missing something?

A new AT&T software update pending...

I just setup my AT&T s7 edge today. All has been great for the past 6 hours. Now my sm-g935a just downloaded a new at&t software update.
Anyone have this same update today or get this installed yet? Do we know what it includes? I will dig around for more details myself, maybe my phone was behind in updates.
UPDATE/EDIT: I think for me it might be a security patch. Noticing I am Android security patch level Sept 1, 2016. Is this the current?
Current AT&T patch for S7e is 11/01/2016. I checked last week and there was no update for Dec.

Good luck getting it to go through, I had to go to at&t online and have them force push the update earlier this week, then the touch on the phone went out and couldn't use certain parts of the keyboard. Replacement phone I got, they can't even get the update to force over.

And you still aren't up to date. There's an APK1 update from November that won't go through unless you call or chat with them. I gave up trying to get rid of it; the first S7 Edge I got on Christmas Eve, updated it to APK1 and rooted it, crashed 5 times in 10 days, then the touch sensor on the lower right went out. Then, tried to update to the October software, rooted, crashed, reset and Odined the September software, rooted, fine.
Why is it not allowed through or I'm not seeing it?

I have APK1, just got the phone today. I can root on APK1 right? Been searching for a few hours now and haven't found a definitive answer. If you could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I considered rooting to uninstall all the junk ware. It seems though it can be somewhat risky. Plus it seems to give some buggy results and given the s7 is not perfect in any way, I'm personally settled to just leave it the way it is. Was hoping that update I saw last night was a prelude to a nougat upgrade.
I just came from the Note 7... Well I still have it... Anyway I don't mind buggy processes and or Idc about tripping Knox either lol. This phone is gonna be my play phone till the Note 8 comes out :cyclops:

Use package disabler pro to freeze junk. Doesn't free up space but stops them from running.

Same here.
I got the update a few weeks ago. I finally had time to backup my phone and when I went to perform the update, B393 is gone.
it's not a good update IMHO. After updating to that version, my battery life is dramatically shortened. You are lucky!
I am working on rolling back to B391 now, no success yet. Inputs on rolling back are appreciated!

I know, there are different observations. But there have been a lot of negative reports on reddit. See for example:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Honor8/comments/8jkzhk/phone_is_freezing_and_randomly_rebooting/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Honor8/comments/8iz6us/if_your_phone_battery_behaved_strangely_try_these/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Honor8/comments/8hq297/changed_battery_phone_now_turns_off_constantly/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Honor8/comments/8gvzkx/does_anyone_knows_what_might_be_happening_here/
People may have different reasons to have one or some of the issues above, but I have them all! Plus my bluetooth is not working properly after rolling back to B392 on L04. So, I have to conclude it's risky to update to B393. The root may be this one reported on Android issue tracker:

So I took the April patch yesterday and my battery life went from 4.5 hrs screen on time to 7.5 hours at 24 percent. I have started testing battery without SD card too as this was the first day sd card was removed all day. Adding it back this morning and still see if it is affecting battery o rif the april patch really fixed something. I can tell you too that phone feels buttery smooth as well. The reasoning mentioned sd card though was back in the s2 and s3 days it became evident that sd cards was causing battery drain and lag even though it didn't show on battery stats.
Currently downloading/installing the May security patch................here in Nashville TN.

My question is, will the current root that's available, is it safe to do with the new-build?

Question about the 7.1.1 update

Basically what the title says, I currently have the soak test build of 7.1.1 that was posted some time ago, and I want to know if there is an official update yet, I remember some time ago some people said they already received an ota to 7.1.1, but it was only in some countries, is there a global update out yet? My phone is a xt1601 and it is on september 2017 security patch
Beforehand, thanks to everyone
OTA was finally released in the US last month for XT1607. I did it, unfortunately I had to do a factory reset due to some lockup issues I was having, but it's fine now.

I read a lot of things about Nougat 7.1.1 on XT1607. You said it's fine but if it is not much to ask, can you elaborate on battery performance versus Marshmallow,or heat issues, or network issues (with WiFi or configuring APNs), etc.? My mother phone was offered the update but I told her to wait until I gather feedback. So far the only clear advantage would be the security patch level (April 2018.)

In my experience with two unlocked XT1607s the stock Nougat build was a modest refinement over Marshmallow with no (zero) downsides. That may seem nebulous but reflects reality when focused on the big picture. I generally run rooted stock on moto devices (probably own a dozen) and rarely run into significant issues once builds have stabalized. Most reported problems are self-inflicted wounds or purists who would take issue with perfection.

I am having it crash every time it registers on the cell network. Only way to use the phone is in airplane mode.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Unfortunately, even after I did the reset, the freezing continued. However, after I changed some notification settings and disabled a few apps, it stopped. It hasn't froze in over a week now. Maybe it was just instability immediately following the update.
Otherwise, the battery seems about the same as it was on Marshmallow. No issues with WiFi or data, or overheating. I would still be cautious about updating it, though, unless you have the time to fix any potential issues that may appear.

What is the most recent stock firmware which works on XT1601 AT&T, Telus,Rogers (Canada/US)?
Need full stock for fastboot flashing.
Available for download https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/harpia/official/RETAIL/
I see:
XT1602_HARPIA_RETAIL_7.1.1_NPI26.48-43
XT1602_HARPIA_RETAIL_7.1.1_NPIS26.48-43-2
What is the difference between NPI and NPIS?

You have posted the same basic question in multiple threads w/o response which suggests the answer is unknown. Backup what you have now and try the TWRP flashable build which was current as of June 1st. Good luck.

Anyone have Greenify issues & battery drain with the May security patch update?

Last week I finally bit the bullet and updated from the February security patch to the April security patch. This also updated my bootloader.
After the update, I noticed my battery life wasn't as good and that Greenify apps in hibernation keep waking up at random so I have to load up greenify every so often and check to see if they've woken up or not. It's very annoying. I then decided to take the May update to see if that would fix the issues. No dice there either. These issues weren't there in the January and February patches, it started with the April security patch update.
Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have a solution? I am on the latest AT&T firmware a the G975U variant.

Glad I am not the only one. I think it has to do with One Ui 2.1 verses One Ui 2. Any ideas on how to fix it?
