Sleep mode - Honor 8 Lite Questions & Answers

All of a sudden (or probably not). All my apps is closing down 2-10 minutes after going in to sleep mode.
For example. I use Runkeeper to log all my running activities. It has never been any problems but now it suddenly stops so I can't see how long I've ran or how long time I´'ve been doing it.
My car stereo has broken down (It's a really old car ). So I took an blutoth speeker and used my phone to hear the radio. That has been working just fine as well, until lately.
I guess it's somethings in settings. But I have not been doing anything. I go for "Don't mend it if it's not broken".

Screen dims, but never shuts off

I just noticed this morning that when I hit the power button the screen only dims now. I swear it used to shut off the display completely before today, and I know for certain that is how it worked on 1.6. This really is annoying, because now when I put it in my pocket the 3 buttons are constantly being depresses and they vibrate, which lights the display again. That coupled with this stupid lock screen that I have to try to open 3-4 times is really making me angry. Maybe it's just me thugh.....
I'm assuming you upgraded to 2.1?
I remember reading somewhere that someone had a similar issue after upgrading to 2.1 but then they re flashed 2.1 a different way and problem went away.
Same issue here, it really eats up my battery life, and I do end up pushing those soft keys all-too often... I am on 2.1 and that is definitely when the problem started, I'm going to try reflashing to see if I can eliminate the issue.
try the steps found here on streaksmart.com. She reports that she has no issues when its done that way. I don't have my streak yet but will follow these steps when i get it.
I had a similar problem before, only the screen would go off and on again and stay on!
Turns out it was an APP that done this.
It is possible an app is causing the problem.

I've been experimenting with what's been causing this on mine, and I noticed that sometimes wifi will not shut all the way off. It hangs at "Turning off..."
So I tried not letting it sleep with wifi on, I turn it on if I need it, then turn it off (really a big pain in the butt) but went two days with no "no sleep" problems.
Today I tried leaving wifi on all the time, not two hours later it happened.
Since it's not happening to everybody, I wonder if it has something to do with our wifi setups. Maybe the router brand, or the encryption type, or something?
Last night I powered off the phone before better. I have wifi on all the time and I never shut it off. Today though, I have had no issues with the sleep function. It's still mid afternoon so we'll see if it continues this way. If so I will explore the wifi solution as well.
I was having this problem and somehow this setting was wrong:
SETTINGS>>APPLICATIONS>>DEVELOPMENT>>STAY AWAKE
mine was checked and we all know what that mean. Check yours to be sure if your not up for flashing again. Just a thought in case you overlooked this...

Yes, it means the screen will not time out and go off when it's being charged, but you can still turn it off, and mine wasn't plugged in when I couldn't turn it off.
I don't think this is related to what I've been seeing, but thanks.
It seems that Bluetooth did it today. I was fine all day going black on sleep with power button, but once I switched on wireless to connect to my car stereo it never went off again. Even if I turn off the wireless I have to shut down and reboot.

Same here. Started car and it showed zero signal strength for the phone on the dashboard display. Pressed the power button on the Dell Streak and the car display then displayed the signal strength. From then on, the screen would dim but not shut off.

Was your wifi also enabled (even if not connected to any AP's) when this happened?

Yes, and I couldn't turn it off once the "screen dim bug" took hold. Today I've rebooted and left Bluetooth OFF and Wireless ON and have not had an issue all day long, and that's making calls, using 3G, wireless and running a pile of apps. I think I can live with no Bluetooth until the next release.

I don't think it's BT. I think it's wifi not recovering properly from sleep mode.

Fair call. However, I've now had BT off for 6 hours and I'm using 3G, wireless and USB transfers and it hasn't hiccuped yet. This is the longest I've had with no screen dim bug.
I did notice that when I walked out to the car, the Streak could still "see" my home wireless network, then starting the car and the BT pairing and connecting is when the screen dim bug came back.
Maybe it's when both are run at the same time and both are connected/paired?

I agree its looks like its a wifi issue. I always keep my bluetooth off and it still did it.
I got mine fixed... but the problem is i did a bunch of steps and now cant figure out which one actually fixed it. its been running great for 12hrs now.
What I did, since I noticed that wifi sometimes didn't sleep or wake itself up properly all the time (which i think is what's affecting our Streak sleeping), was turn off the wifi sleep. In other words when my device shuts off wifi stays active.
However, I then used "Tasker" from the Market and setup two profiles. When the screen goes off it shuts off 3G, wifi and autosync. Then when the screen comes on it turns on 3g/wifi, waits 20 secs and enables autosync (which then initiates a mail/calendar/contacts sync).
This has worked perfectly, and I get mad good battery life to boot. Now this means I don't get mail/updates (facebook, weather, etc - still get calls and txts obviously) but for me it's not a big deal especially for the battery life.
I may eventually setup more Tasker events to duplicate "Juice Defender" and poll every half hour (3G only, when screen is off only) to get my updates, but for now it's been working great.
I also setup profiles so if I'm not where I have wifi pairings it shuts down wifi. Also if it detects I'm connected via wifi (at home for instance) it disables my lock screen. I also have it set to only start GPS for apps that need it (Maps, Navigation, Places, etc) and that helps save battery too.
Tasker is an awesome app for $3.99. It has a steep learning curve, but there are enough walk-throughs available to teach you how to do the basics.

Found the fix on Modaco. Have a look at the last page of the thread called "2.1 Bugs ....., Add what you find please....."
I never knew there was an "Advanced" menu for WiFi!
yeah that is not it. I also have mine set to never time out so does that mean it will never shut off either? Anyway, it keeps happening through the day. Wifi and bluetooth do seem to have something to do with it, but I need them both on all the time so the only thing I can do is reboot. Then it is good for a couple hours. Are the any apps that have a reboot? That's one thing I miss on the iPhone.

focus not sleeping properly

My phone is not sleeping itself down after the time elapses.anyone else noticing this, its making me think its draining my battery.
Just tested this myself, and on a one minute sleep timer, my phone did properly go to sleep.
Mine sleeps fine too.
mine sleeps fine as well. Do you have any particular app running? For example, if you have AT&T Navigator running it will not sleep. There are a few other apps that provide the ability to prevent it from sleeping. So, are you on the main screen or in an app when it doesn't sleep?
Cannot say I've had this problem. Worked at its default of 1 min, and still works after I changed to 3.
I am trying to id the app if any that is causing it but with no task manager its impossible.
I do notice an issue with the camera app. If the camera button gets pressed then the phone will stay on and not sleep, for me at least.
It goes off on it's own mostly...thanks for the reports as I work through this. I may need a hard reset anyway, hey why not Ill add a microSD at that time.

Temporary fix to Bluetooth issues?

So... searched pretty much a month now for a solution, so don't flame me if I missed it ..
About 2 months with OPT, and pretty much a working phone on Oxygen 2.1.2 but it is unparallel to my OPO when it comes to OS with Cyanogen, in terms of beauty and speed. Yes, my OPO with less power under the hood works better than my OPT.
Tries Exodus ROM (CM12.1) and it is the one I like, but.. my BT doing all sort of funny stuff.. It turn itself off (symbol disappears from top of the phone) at random times. Events that kill BT are a phone call, deep sleep, and probably other events.
Rebooting the phone fixes it for up to 10 minutes. But obviously I am not going to boot the phone every time I need to use BT. I have a Moto 360 , a car audio , a headset, and a radar detector in the car connecting to my phone over BT. So pretty much I need BT on and up all day long...
What I discovered is if I clear data from Bluetooth share (setting->apps->all-> Bluetooth Share) my BT comes alive for a while again, so something in CM12.1 is messing it up. Obviously , I can't clear data every 10 minutes either... Not manually, anyways..
Just think every time I am getting to the car i need to clear data to hook the phone to the car. As soon as I do, the connection will stay on until I am done driving... and then drops again when BT in the car turns of, in few minutes. Really annoying.
The main problem is the Moto 360. It became a useless smart watch without the BT on the phone. Running it on wi-fi just kills the watch's battery, so that is not an option either...
Anyone else is in the same situation, or better, found a work around ? Somehow i can't seem to find anyone else with this issue.
Thanks,
BigE
Yes I have the same BT problem on my op2 with OOS 2.1.2 in car.
Nearly unusable audio (only phone function connects), audio (if it sometime works) don't stop during incoming call, phone book is not probably synced...
Impossible to fix it on my own! Oneplus must do that.
I hope with marshmallow will something fixed.
Regards Peterle

Bluetooth suddenly sucks battery, becomes unstable, won't let phone deep sleep.

So, here's my issue: I started to notice that bluetooth audio, which was usually good, started to suddenly cut in and out. At the same time, my battery life went to pot, and the top battery sucker was the Bluetooth share. I also noticed that the phone got really hot and very slow when charging when all of this was happening (usually I don't have to worry about the phone getting super hot when charging and using bluetooth).
I installed BBS and GSAM, and they both basically told me that the phone was not going to sleep because the bluetooth share was keeping it away. I even tried installing Naptime, and the phone still refuses to go into deep sleep, and the bluetooth share keeps sucking battery.
So here's what I've done so far...
- Uninstalled recent apps, no change
- Clear Bluetooth share, restart phone, no change
- Unpair all bluetooth devices, no change
- Restart phone (several times), no change
- Start the phone in safe mode, phone behaves normally....
In the course of trying to figure out what's going on, I basically uninstalled every app and the bluetooth share was still keeping my phone awake.
The only way I've found that fixes this issue is to completely format the phone and reinstall stock firmware. And I don't mean just to fastboot flash system system.img, I mean I have to fastboot erase system and then flash the system in order for bluetooth to behave. After I do this, and reinstall all my usual apps (I allow Google to download them, then I use titanium backup to restore the data on apps that don't sync their own data), the phone works brilliantly for about a week and a half, then the ordeal starts all over again.
The only thing I haven't tried is going bone stock... when I reinstall my phone I root and put Frankenclar on it. I used to use Xposed, but I tried going without to see if that made a difference... and, nope. Even without Xposed the bluetooth share keeps the phone awake.
I've started going through the steps to contact Moto, but they may balk because I've unlocked my phone (even though the warranty says valid).
Any ideas??
Oh, I'm on Verizon, so my choice of roms are limited... and I really like the wake on approach, twist for camera, chop for flashlight, and being able to call to my phone when the screen is off and it's not charging.
Thanks for your time!
Okay, so for anyone else who may be having an issue like this... here was my problem:
After doing a lot of searching online, I discovered that the CVS app was causing the issue. Apparently CVS uses bluetooth beacons to discover your location and push "deals" to your phone. Only, this causes the phone to never go to sleep and causes the bluetooth to stay active and scanning.
So I uninstalled the CVS app, restarted the phone, and have been happy ever since. The app was handy, and some people have said that disabling the location ability in the app permissions may fix it, so I might try that later.
In addition, the Gasbuddy app has also caused similar issues, so if you have random battery drain and have either Gasbuddy or CVS installed, try uninstalling those and see if it helps.

Bluetooth on 8.1 official.

I think the 8.1 is a great update with everything flying along. I have one little annoyance though: my Bluetooth speaker is fine playing something (which is the main thing) but after I switch it on and before I start playing anything on the phone, it keeps bleeping that it has disconnected then reconnects again a few seconds later. My smartwatch is doing the same thing: vibrating that it has disconnected then reconnects again a few seconds later. Bit annoying & never experienced this before update. Anyone got any ideas what could be causing that?
Have you tried going into Developer Mode and Changing Bluetooth versions? There are several choices!
No I haven't. I'll try that thank you. Do you know what version it was before? Worked perfectly for me. Cheers.

I'm experiencing something similar to what you're describing. When I connect my AirPods they keep on playing the connected sound, as though they're reconnecting over and over.
Well, I tried changing the Bluetooth version (AVRCP whatever that means!) and I've only tried it once this morning but so far so good and it hasn't been connecting/disconnecting at all. I changed it from 1.4 to 1.6 just by guesswork but thanks to poster who suggested that.
As I said, only day 1 but I'll report if anything changes.
On another topic, I use a Garmin sports watch which has smartphone features. It works absolutely perfectly all the time while showing up in the phone's bluetooth settings as being permanently disconnected.?
wow this fixed my BT issues!!!
