Available memory TWRP - Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I have a question about the available memory after TWRP formatting. Why we have not all the memory space, about 64 GB for me, but just around 57GB ? Did do something wrong ? Is it necessary to mount or fuse two kinds of memory ? It's is the same thing on a redmi 3S however on my Nexus 5 no problem, almost memory is available. Do Xiaomi devices have a permanent backup which take some GB ?
Thx for your replies.

You can't. You never had the full 16 GB.
From the 16 GB, the user only gets 8-9 GB to use for apps, music, photos etc.

Actually that ~9.1GB is the "correct storage". Yes, you only have that much space available for your data in your internal storage. It happens for a couple of reasons. First is that the device doesn't actually have 16GB, but a bit less, since the calculation of storage is in bits, and 8 bits == 1 byte. Your phone has 16,000,000,000 bytes, but actually 16GB is 17,179,869,184 bytes, as you can see, you have almost 1GB less than you actually should. Now to the real problem. The partitioning of the device.
Samsung allocates a lot, I really mean A LOT of memory to system. So from that ~15GB you had left, you have ~1.1GB allocated to system, ~2GB allocated to cache (which IMHO is stupid, since it never even got to 500MB in my phone and most real cache data is stored in data partition), that gives us ~12GB left, then there are some other partitions which I don't recall myself now that will occupy those other 12GB, leaving only 9.1GB left to your actual usage.
Hope I didn't mess up any part up there haha.
All the best,
~Lord

I don't exactly understand what your issue is, but this should definitely shed some light on the S4 partition sizes.

[REQUEST] Change partition layout

Redmi 3S partition layout, for 16gb variant:
System - 3GB
Cache - 256MB
Internal - 10GB
3gb is allocated as system, which is quite unnecessary and the extra space can be really helpful for 16gb devices. So, I request the developers to create a modified partition layout. Somewhat like:
System - 1GB
Cache -256MB
Internal -12GB
Wrong section

Don't post it here mate. You have selected wrong section.
No way! You might Hard Brick it as i did few years ago with my Xperia when i tried to do the same thing and flashed unstable CM13.
Bad idea.
Dont do it
It might work with a specific rom and kernel, but, if u try to apply OTA, u gonna brick your device complety
So, a horibble idea

[BUG] [Storage gone in an unknown partition]

Is there anyone who can tell me how to fix my internal storage problem? I am currently on crdroid 8.1 ROM but it just showing me 9.5 GB of current internal storage in every file manager but it shows 13.55 GB of internal storage in settings. I am not able to find the missing 3 GB. Someone please help me!
Ps - sorry for bad English.
Really I just filled 7 GB and 2gb free total 9 GB but why file manager just showing 11 GB of internal storage? And what the heck is settings showing?

Likely not a "bug". Device has 16GB of addressable (writeable) storage but not all of that is available for your use. Typically 10-11GB is set aside for user data including apps; rest is reserved for the rom and other system files, bootloader, kernel, modems, etc.

Likely reflects the total space used in the system + data partitions.

what's the actual size of 64gb internal memory on mi a1?

I had mine 49gb bcause I have treble partition.
But how much is the actual size?
I think the available storage for stock is around 53Gb free without deleting any of the stock apps.

Very less internal storage

Hi friends, just this morning I clean flashed xiaomi.eu ROM in my lavender 32gb version. I wiped everything even the internal storage for a smooth start. After the boot I checked to see how much storage we actually get and it was just 20 GB out of 32 GB. 6-7 GB for system is understandable but 12 GB reserved for system seems too much... Is there any way to access that unusable storage?? Or can we decrease that reserved storage?
System use 12gb, is normal there's nothing to do, it's not android 4
It's a heavily modified aosp code,i recommend convert to other aosp roms.
