Make lock screen easier to unlock? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Is there some way to make the unlock swipe more sensitive? Or a shorter swipe required?
Sometimes it takes me 4 or 5 swipes to get it to unlock, it's getting a tad annoying. No other issues with the screen, it just seems to need far too long of a swipe to allow the unlock.
I don't use fingerprint / pin / face unlock.

I don't believe there is, but why wouldn't you use any of the above ? They're all ironically extremely fast, the fingerprint unlock is probably the quickest out of any phone in the world. The face is also rapid.
You could maybe install another lock screen but it would probably be quite similar.
There is more than likely also a setting in the ROM which altered the length of swipe, not in settings but an actual value within a file.

My finger tips/prints get pretty tore up at work and causes finger print readers to be all but useless.
Not a fan of face unlock, too many situations that it would be inconvenient. I suppose I could maybe try a simple pattern unlock instead, I tend to open my phone is awkward situations sometimes and want it to be easy to get into. I have no security concerns.

Have you actually tried the face unlock? I wasn't completely for it, but it's very quick and you barely have to look at the screen, it's also surprisingly accurate.
Did you know you can register several fingertips? So unless your whole hand gets messed up? I used to do ground work and roofing, bricklaying so I know what you mean. Should be ok tbh.

I have the same problem, and it's not only unlocking the screen.
Sometimes I try to swipe down notification 4-5 times before it works.
On Lineage/Resurrection rom it's working like any other phone.
There is one more thing, this bug is inconsistent, sometimes unlocking is working like it should and slightest swipe unlocks the phone.

[req] Thumb Print Screen Unlock

I think it would be a great idea to have some sort of thumb print software that would lock our diamonds. But has to have your thumb print to unlock the phone. Let me know ideas on development.
Well.. i guess this isn't possible because there is no finger print scan thingy in the diamond, so it cant scan if its really ur thumb

Agree and the only way i can see this ever happening is if the camera was utilized and even then, the idea is skeptical.
is there no way we could program it to measure the points on you finger? but i guess there has to be some sort of biometrics involved.
i guess it may be coming check this out

its a pressure sensitive screen... it might be possible with a capacitive screen like the iPhone's and G1's heat sensing screen, but even then i find it HIGHLY unlikely
Even if its fake and gimmicky Symbian and Apple already have this app and I want it.

Nope. Highly highly highly unlikely this can be done. Our screens are just not sensitive enough to scan our thumb prints.
You can always have a fake, whereby it just looks like it's scanning your thumb print and unlock the phone. But it really defeats the purpose, because no added security at all.
It will be rally good to make some fake such as on the 5800, most of wm users will love it ;-) But with biometric scanner, ehm, we have to wait
you've got more chance of getting a working iris scanner for that.
i've seen a laptop do that using a webcam, so a phone with front-cam should be able to do it too(but at what battery and patience cost?)

Exactly if we could make a app that would measure how hard we would press the screen and we be able to go back re configure how hard the screen need to be pressed to unlock the phone

Issues with Fingerprint Scanner

Is anyone else having problems with the fingerprint scanner? I'm trying to set it up to accept my print but it won't scan it.

No problems at all. Set up quickly and easy.
swipe slowly. good swipes take at least a full second it seems. mine set up just fine and works for unlocking the phone.
Mine was shockingly easy to set up.

Thanks! That's all it took...
You don't really need to exagerate the swipe, but the 1 second rule is not a bad one to follow.
Make sure that the way you swipe to enroll is roughly the same as the way you swipe to authenticate. Holding the phone in the same way helps a lot.
Swipe from the base of your finger pad, to the tip of your finger.
Always use a pulling motion. Do not push your finger across the sensor.
You can actually unlock the device whether you pull toward the bottom of the phone from the top, or flip the phone around and pull the other way during the swipe. This can be very useful when the phone is in a dock.
If your finger crosses the sensor at a strong angle, you may not be able to authenticate or enroll. Remember that the finger should be aligned as indicated in the animation.
Enjoy! And remember, this is serious security. It's way beyond the pattern lock or a pin. And yet, it's easier to use than either. How often can you add security and make something easier to use at the same time?

This power button location is brutal...

It is just incredibly awkward trying to unlock the phone with one hand. Every single other smartphone on the market is easy to access... this I feel like im going to drop each and every time I do it.
Anyone else having this issue?? Not sure this is the phone for me after about 15 hours of using it...
Not to mention the QHD is still pixelated.
Anyone know what the return policy is? This will negate my extended 2 year agreement if I returned it right?

Return policy is 14 days I believe.
I actually love the unlock location. The finger print scanner works terrifically for me.
The screen is great for a pentile and much much much better than the rgbg layout. I only notice any type of aliasing in a few places (battery on notification tray for one.)

How's the location of the volume rockers? How'd you feel about using those to wake the device? I use widgetlocker on my Inspire and I will on the atrix when I pick it up. It allows you to wake the device with any hardware button ("easy wake" in settings). And a nice set of ways to customize your lockscreen. Or you can set it up to look exactly stock, as I've seen the motorola froyo lockscreen as an option.

really?! THANKS!!!
Doesnt work.. finger print is disabled... Wish I could wake with the volume rocker though...
Yea. Absolutely hate the power button location. Thanks for the heads up on widget locker. Now using my volume buttons to wake. Much better.
I love the placement of the button. If you put the phone upside down in your pocket, then you can wake it up and then swipe your finger to unlock it while you're still taking it from your pocket 8)
Count me in the group that hates how hard it is to press the power button! Really, really don't like how difficult it is and how much pressure it takes to depress that button.
I love the fingerprint scanner functionality, though.

Exactly. It's perfect for me to hold one handed and unlock easily with fingerprint reader. I just got mine this morning, but haven't needed more than a single swipe so far. I find it easier than using the standard slider as I can keep a grip on the phone well while unlocking. I didn't like the thumb stretch to unlock on larger devices as I actually felt like I could drop it.

Actually if it was bought at a COR store the return policy is 30 days with a $35 restocking fee.
I think placement is great, but the force needed is what makes it awkward. Once on, it is so easy to swipe a finger to unlock.
I'm already used to it.
As with everything, mess around with it enough and it will become second nature.
Love the finger print scanner too. That should piss the wife off.
Took a little time...
but I can already tell I'm starting to get used to its location. I absolutely LOVE the fingerprint reader as an unlock mechanism though.
Button does seem awkward. would like it on the side but I guess it would get either the lefty or righty upset (depending on which side you put it). Which it would just turn on with a swipe rather than pressing and swiping. And maybe a click so you know when you've pressed hard enough.
I tried it out in store and loved it. A lot of my VZW friends have the Droid 2, with its tiny, hard-to-press power button, and was concerned I would be forced to throw the phone out the window if I had a button like this. This is easily the softest, easiest, largest on button I've ever seen on a phone.
after setting finger print unlock , I don't even really notice it anymore
yeah I love the location and the finger print scanner one hand unlock sweet
I wish the button were raised just a 1/2mm. Everything else is great.
I'm considering looking for something to stick on it to raise it a bit. Don't know if the fingerprint reader will work through like a thick plastic sticker or somethin...
it bothered me a little at first but im getting used to it now. not really thinking about it
I like it. I have large hands, and have no problem. I feel the button was placed in the center to allow for index finger swiping of either the right of left hand... pretty good design choice if you ask me. I can see how reaching it while gripping the phone in one hand could be tough if your hands are small though.
EDIT: Not to be an annoying fanboy, but the power button on the inspire irked me a lot. it was almost flush with the body of the phone, and at a slight angle that you almost had to wrap your finger around the top of the device to feel it. The worst part is that it provided NO indication you were actually touching it. It was just a feeling that feels like, "this will NOT work 6 months from now." I know HTC makes great stuff - but I was relieved when I first touched my atrix and felt an ever so slight 'click' from the button.
Thanks for the Widget Locker recommendation, the placement is awful! I have my phone on my desk flat a lot and it will go to sleep, it requires me to pick the phone up wth two hands to unlock it. Its a pain in the arse.

Unlock my S7 without click on the home button

hello
I have a question
One member know a software or a modification for the fingerprint?
Because when i use my fingerprint first i click on the home button and after i see the lockscreen and after my finger is readed
On huawei/Honor phone when i put my finger on the fingerprint the fingerprint unlock my phone without go on lockscreen
So do you have a solution for the same way of unlock as honor/huawei?
Thanks !!
No
there is one way to do that...turn on your edge feed...when your screen is lock..swipe up and down on the edge screen til your edge feed come out..then scan your fingerprint..it will unlock your phone without hitting any button..
Passive fingerprint reader

I know the Problem you are facing,
That's because the readers on Other phones like one's you mentioned are having an Active Fingerprint Reader which is always scanning your print even on Screen Stand-By
Samsung phones on other hand have a Passive Fingerprint Reader that gets activated by the press of the button only and so it wont scan the fingerprint until the screen is activated by any means - either you press the home button of Activate the screen by Edge Feed (swipe Up and Down on Edge)
This is a Tad Bit of less convenient because of Passiveness but it has important safety precautions like
1) phone does not get opened up if you accidentally touch the sensor in pocket
2) press is better because you can feel the pressure and know if someone pranks you while you are sleeping
3) fingerprint reader uses less ram and less battery because of being inactive most of the time
"But I do Confess that Samsung Phone's Fingerprint Sensors are Slow Compared to Many Other Phones even if we Test While screen of on"
I've got the LED case for the phone, when i flip it open i just hold my finger over the sensor.
Unlocked without pressing buttons
Thans for all the answer
I understand now

E-ink Lock Screen

Hello everyone,
So, I'm having a bit of a strange problem with my Yotaphone 2...
I did a factory reset on it a while back, and everything went fine, except now, when the screen is locked, I can no longer unlock the e-ink screen by dragging up the lock icon on the bottom of the e-ink screen. I have to use the hardware power button, which is a little bit inconvenient at times. I've spent quite a while trying to locate what setting got effected to make it not function, but with no luck. Anybody have any idea where I can turn this function back on?
It happened to me too, I think it was something related with the Lollypop update, but could be some setting that has changed and that I cannot find. However, I found that if I double tap before tracing the finger motion, it usually works. That's why I didn't look further into the issue.

Actually, scratch that... after your double tap suggestion, I started randomly tapping around managed just once to get it to unlock from a screen touch, but have not been able to replicate the movement so it happens again. What movement exactly do you use to get it to unlock?
Update:
Seems to be some kind of sensitivity issue. I can get it to unlock about once out of every 50 swipes. Less than ideal.
I leave the phone with the E-ink screen facing up (to prevent the gyroscope from switching sensitivity to the amoled display instead), then press twice the lock icon, and on the second time my finger touches the E-ink, I drag it up to the center of the phone. It took a bit of practice but now I can get it to work consistently. The double tap is because if the phone has been inactive for a while, it enters sleep mode, and it looks like that turns off the finger gesture recognition. Other possible explanations are that maybe you don't press the screen firmly enough, or maybe you placed some plastic sheet over the back display and that reduces sensitivity.
I noticed that the unlock gestures on the EPD work only when the phone recognizes that you've it in the hand or you're using it. So I take it and I unlock it effectively. Trying to unlock when it lays down and you haven't moved it for a while brings to your experience.
Thanks to both of you for the advice... unfortunately, neither seems to be doing the trick. Just a caution for any other people who are thinking of doing a factory reset - it seems to seriously impact sensitivity for the e-ink unlock, so be aware.
I never succeed to do slide up unlock even within 1st tutorial. Double tap unlock was the only workaround for me. Also activated glove sensitivity mode.
