Odin to CRC5 for at&t - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

Since all of the firmware versions now include all the settings for each carrier, can I just download any CRC5 firmware from updato for SM-G950U and flash it using the newer odin? Or is carrier switching still required? Basically I am planning to take my at&t S8 that is on the unlocked Oreo beta and go to the official CRC5 release, but on at&t (which currently doesn't have a full set of firmware to flash available).

DL any of them. You dl one, you have them all. They will all flash the same and install carrier files/bloat depending on the installed sim card

Official Lollipop 5.0.1 which one? are they all the same?

Hello,
I don't want to wait for Samsung OTA upgrade to Lollipop in my region.....My phone is unlocked and free to use any official rom. It's already available in a number of countries and would like to download one and install it with ODIN.
My question: Is there any difference between the official roms from one country to the other? how should I make my choice?
Thanks for your help
The ROMS currently available should all be carrier unbranded, meaning no carrier logos or carrier bloatware. Assuming this is for the I9505, you can download whichever is the latest, either the BTU firmware or the DBT version. Both will work, though you likely will end up with some easily removed apps provided by Samsung for a specific region. For example, after installing the Black Edition BTU firmware on my I9505, the device defaulted to AUT (Switzerland), and I received three apps related to that region. Since those apps are installed normally and not embedded into the system, it was a trivial matter to uninstall them.
Thanks again Strephon......mine is the 19500. ...I'll go ahead and install the Hong Kong version.

v2 Firmwares XAA And Carrier Versions

Ok for those that took the XAA update ending in K2 and tried everything to load another firmware and failed here is help. The T-Mobile firmware is currently on BQK5 which is Bootloader v2 so you can download and apply it to your device using the latest official version of ODIN. WAIT!!! Don't get your panties in a bunch, READ!! Keep your sim card in your device so that you can get your carrier firmware and logos. This works on both AT&T and T-Mobile devices. The Devices are the same so don't let the TMB fool you. It works. You can use this if you want your carrier software back and play around with the Oreo Betas. I am not trying to step on nobody toes here but I will try to keep yall updated on the betas also.
Here are the links.

Is there a v2 U1 unlocked firmware than can be flashed to Oreo ? Don't want carrier branding but want it to work with Sprint

S10+ AT&T USA Updates

Good night guys,
I just bought a S10+ unlocked but originally from AT&T the problem is that the phone is out of the Network and I can't get the FOTA updates (It has 1 Feb. Security patch) :crying:.
And I want to know another option to update the phone to the latest security patch.
Any help is really appreciated,
Thanks in advance.
Here you go.

Just download it,unzip it run the exe type in the phone model and the ATT and click downloaded.
If you want to receive OTA updates on your phone you either need to flash the carrier free U1 firmware (in which case you will receive OTA updates from Samsung) or flash firmware for your carrier. AT&T doesn't send updates to phones when there is AT&T firmware but no AT&T SIM.
You could also manually flash updates that you download from Frija but if you don't have AT&T service you should get rid of their firmware. It's designed to make you regret switching from AT&T and can cause an assortment of problems when used with a different carrier's SIM card.

Frija is crap. It has NEVER found firmware for me.
Go to updato.com or Sammobile and download the G975U1 firmware.(https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...SM-G975U1/ATT/download/G975U1UES2BSI4/291515/) (It's the unlocked, bloat free firmware. You'll lose text/call over wifi) Flash it with the newest modded Odin (https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4446947&d=1521037501) and flash away. You'll always stay up to date then
Which ROM do you guys suggest me to flash?

Wouldn't you be able to use smart switch on the PC Android automatically download the latest firmware update it for you on your phone based off your hardware

They're not ROMs. They're stock firmwares.
Do you want carrier bloat? Download G975U firmware. You won't find att firmware but it's all inclusive. Download VZW firmware and it'll instal carrier bloat based on installed firmware.
If you want no bloat, go with G975U1 firmware. XAA is true carrier free (but on the U1 it doesn't matter which code you use)

Probably not if you have AT&T firmware. Smart Switch downloads firmware from Samsung's servers but AT&T is the only carrier who does not allow it's firmware on Samsung servers. AT&T updates are only stored on AT&T's own servers.

If you mix and match firmware like you suggest then you need to manually flash all future updates because you will not receive any OTA updates ever. That's fine if you like flashing firmware but isn't a good idea if you don't.
Not sure who told you that but I've been bouncing between various firmwares and models through the years and never had to continually manually flash.
The only way that would happen to you is if you dirty flash one over another without factory resetting. Which everyone knows you shouldn't be doing for reasons like that.

Thank you for letting me know about that. I did not know that AT&T did that

If you flash a build number different from what is officially offered by your carrier or via U1 then you stop getting OTA updates because you are running an unnoficial build that the OTA server doesn't recognize . The US carriers are often on slightly different build numbers and the U1 build numbers are rarely the same as the carrier builds. If you mix and match S10+ firmware odds are you won't get automatic OTA updates again until you flash complete firmware that matches the exact build offered by your carrier or U1.
That's common knowledge and has been discussed thoroughly in the firmware threads and also on the Frija thread.

Then why has every phone I've had (S6, S7E+, s8, s8+, s9+, S10+) received ota updates if I flash U1 firmware on them? It would even receive them fine going from U1 to U...
I'll specify cause maybe you're confused. If I'd flash over my current fw without wiping data and using the Home CSC I wouldn't get OTAs. But that's just dumb to do...
If I flash with Odin, non-home CSC then wipe data/factory reset on recovery it would.
Yet, you're saying it shouldn't have?

I'm not sure what you are trying to say so I can't respond. This probably isn't helping the OP so I'm just going to exit this thread.

Flashing AT&T SM-G988U1 to SM-G988U USERDATA question

My AT&T S20 Ultra has been stuck on the G988USQU1ATBN firmware update. I haven't received any of the new OTA updates and was looking into manually flashing the latest update via Odin. If I were to flash the latest unlocked SM-G988U1 G988U1UES1ATFB update, that I downloaded from SamFirm, to my current AT&T SM-G988U, I would need to use the G988U's USERDATA in Odin to retain AT&T's carrier features like Wifi Calling and VOLTE right? I haven't had any luck finding the latest AT&T G988U update's USERDATA, only the ones from the "G988U and G988U1 Firmware Links and Flashing Discussion Here" topic's U firmware link.
Is it safe to use the ATT Feb 20, 2020 G988USQU1ATAW USERDATA from the U firmware link while I'm flashing the unlocked G988U1UES1ATFB update to my current SM-G988U in Odin? Its my first time flashing a firmware update to a Galaxy phone in Odin.

SamFirm does not load any info for an ATT S8+ / Does not show "USA" Region option. What do I do?

I hate ATT. I hope their stupid company dies soon.
Anyway, I'm trying to flash my ATT S8+ that is running Android 7.0 with Android Pie. I first attempted to use Frija and it said that the ATT "CSC code not supported". I then tried SamFirm and when I input the phone model SM-G955U, it doesn't show the "United States" Region option.
Ideally, I would like to flash my phone with an unbranded Android Pie. What do I do?
UPDATE: I am able to find many different firmware files on SamFrew. However, I still need to know if I can flash an unbranded XAA file from there?
Will it work? And do I need a modded version of Odin to flash? I came across some guy's youtube tutorial that says only to use a modded Odin to flash unbranded firmware on an ATT Samsung phone, but unfortunately his video is from three years ago and so I'm not sure if the modded Odin he's linked to will be compatible and be able to flash the much recent released firmware updates.
UPDATE: Issue resolved. I went ahead and flashed it and it worked.
