SM-G900V 6.0.1 Custom Rom verizon mobile data not working, custom APNs disappear - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Searching the forums i've found scattered reports of similar issues but only one possible solution. The fix seemed to work for a few minutes but now can no longer get to work.
Unlocked bootloader and installed vincom's superlite 6.0.1 rom from https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-superlite-mini-mm-v1-0-361mb-g900w8-t3497158. Also flashed the 6.0.1 QL1_MODEM_NON-HLOS and QL1_MODEM from https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/development/modem-modems-t3154630. Everything seems to work except mobile data. Phone calls can be placed and received with no problem. Text messages can be received but not sent.
Viewed the Access Point Names (cannot be accessed through the normal settings menu but accessible using the Change Apn app) and can see a variety of Verizon APNs with possibly outdated information (MCC 311 MNC 480)? Attempted to create a new APN using instructions at https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61262681&postcount=3 and info at https://bestmvno.com/apn-settings/verizon-wireless-apn-settings/ While the APN disappeared, as do any of the other options when the MCC and MNC is changed, the new settings still show up in /data/data/com.android.settings/shared_prefs/com.android.settings_preferences.xml (as mentioned in https://android.stackexchange.com/qu...ved-in-android)
The first time I created the new APN the LTE icon showed up and i was able to view websites using mobile data and receive text messages. 10 minutes later tried to send a text message and it failed, then noticed that no mobile data was working again. Have tried repeating the previous steps, but still no luck.
Any help is greatly appreciated

There's a few things to try to get the APN populated because the APN's are, typically, updated via the Verizon Network.
1) Sometimes if you Toggle the "Preferred network type to/from Global to LTE and restart the device, this sometimes will help with the APN's to get refreshed/updated.
2) I've got Net10 on my G900V and I have had to perform a Chat Session with the Net10 Support people (because I've had better luck with chat versus calling. That's your choice) and asked them if they can perform a Network Refresh for my device on the Verizon Towers. They may ask me to check one or two things that I usually respond with it looks good to get them to do the Network Refresh.
I hope one of these works for you and that I had explained this okay via text.
Good Luck!

Thanks, they've also hidden the network mode settings menu on this version, i'm currently looking up how to change the setting.

The ability to access that specific setting is dependent upon the Firmware ROM installed. The Firmware would have to be developed with this feature.
This should be asked within the "Vincom's Superlite ROM" Thread.
Maybe they have this specific setting located elsewhere on your device...

Thanks, as far as I understand it's a debloated version of the official Verizon 6.0.1 rom, i believe the same settings are hidden on the official version of the rom too. thanks again

I'm not 100% sure regarding the Stock Firmware because I haven't had it on my G900V in quite a long time.
I've got 2 of them and 1 Has CyanogenMod and the other has LineageOS.
If memory serves me correctly (with a lost mind... LOL!) I believe that you may be able to access these options using one of the specific Dialer Codes but, I can't remember what any of them are.
As I had stated before, your best bet is to obtain some member guidance within the Firmware thread your using.
I wish you the best of luck!

Another thing to try is find the boot image from the original rom and flash that. I do believe that requires a custom recovery like twrp. Is their a specific reason youre not using something like LineageOS or Candy Rom? They both have Android Oreo 8.1 versions available.

Can't connect to network?

I bought this phone via craigslist, and it works minus getting connected to my network (tmobile)
i tried rooting it, but when i go into recovery, it says that there is no sdcard/update.zip directory..my sd card is "unavailable" when i check it in the settings.
i factory reseted my phone, and still nothing with the service. any help?
Try going to settings , wireless and network , mobile networks , network operators and click search now . It might take a few searches but it will eventually register to the network .
I tried that as well, it gives me some error with my sim card.
but my sim card works in every other phone, just not this one
I've lost all hope in society. Man, people knowingly sell things with problems. What makes someone think it is morally okay to rip off another person. Why be a morally corrupt individual?
I hope your phone is fixable, seems like the person sold it to you knowing there was a problem.
Try using odin to go back to stock JFD, see if that helps. Just make sure you can get into download mode with the 3 buttons with no problems
I'll try that, any other ideas..?Thanks btw
I noticed that odin is only for windows, while I'm on a mac..
how do i go about doing this on a mac then? i was thinking restoring a stock rom might help..
You can use Heimdall as an alternative to Odin. It runs on Macs and linux boxes.
Here is the thread that contains the DL Link and info about the program. I have personally never used it, but have read that it's fairly simple. I also recall a member from xda making a video tutorial that he posted on youtube.
EDIT: Here is the original thread from the I9000 forum.
If you have any questions it would probably be better to post there.
I believe the developer checks that thread far more frequently than the one here in the Vibrant forum.
Thank you so much, I'll try to fiddle with this.
I can't seem to locate a stock rom anywhere, the mirrors that I found on this website (the bible thread) the links were dead
Well hell that sucks.
I've got it. I'm zipping it up right now and I'll start uploading ASAP.
I'll post back when it's ready for you.
Awesome,thanks!
Here you go, man. Samsung T959UVJFD True Stock Firmware
After you download the archive. Unzip it and there will be a two files inside, 'T959UVJFD.tar' and 's1_odin_20100512.pit'.
I tried this, but I still get the error that my sim card does not allow connections to this network
any idea what could be wrong..? i sure hope i didn't lose $280 dollars...
Perhaps the phone was locked to a different carrier? I remember when I first got my Vibrant and was reading about rooting, I also saw information that switching networks between AT&T and T-mo was *extremely* easy. I thought I remembered seeing information at one point regarding the codes for each carrier (so you could lock back to t-mobile), but I can't find it now.
Here's the post on unlocking your phone though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
thanks so much! this might be my problem!
i downloaded the SGS_Unlock.apk, but when i opened it,it said there was no codes and asked me if i was sure that i was using a samsung galaxy s?
Edit:i'm using a mac, and i'm trying to use the mac software for the unlocking, but when i run the software it tells me this
strings: can't open file: ./nv_data.bin (No such file or directory)
strings: can't open file: ./nv_data.bin (No such file or directory)
Your code is:
I get a blank.?
Is there anyway you can contact the person you bought the phone from and ask them what network they were using the phone on? Or even ask them what exactly they have done to the phone?
They haven't been answering...****ing assholes
Are you rooted? I think that you need su permission to see the path that nv_data.bin is in.
Also, if you go to Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, what do you see there?
i am not rooted, i will root my phone tonight
Are you still having the "SD card unavailable" issue after flashing back to stock firmware?
When you are ready to root use this.

don't manually upgrade to 2.3.4

there seems to be at least 3 users who can't connect to a network after manually upgrading judging from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13417499
it may be best to wait for an ota upgrade. (and let's not fill with this thread with "it works for me" please.)
i'm currently owner of a phone that can't phone.

I'll update my ota thread
Sent from my Nexus S
I hope google can quickly send all the ota. There should be some people try every efforts by downgrade then upgrade or going thru any path to get the 2.3.4, may finally mess up the phone ...
it seems impossible to downgrade.
google, you broke my phone.
Do you have the correct build number?
Try flash an older ROM first, then flash a known working radio for your phone. Hope that gets your phone working again.
under the battery, it's a gt-i9020
the ssn is i9020gsmh
Manually flashed my Nexus S and now im having poor reception/disconnects on 3G data. Also my GPS didnt improve. Im not rooted and have stock android.
Did I do something wrong while upgrading to 2.3.4? Can i revert to 2.3.3?
I did the manual update for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 nothing went wrong
i manually done mine and have no such problem.
let's stop with the "i did it, and i'm ok" posts, which if you read in op, you'll see i wrote the same.
i too unable to connect to network. APN still there but i can't connect to network. But i still able to downgrade to previous version. if unable to, try restore from the latest nandroid backup? i manage to restore to my CM7.0.2. im gonna wait for a bit longer~~~
did any of you try to use your SIM in a other phone? did it work?
did any of you requested support of your carrier ?
and did any one delete their APN's(yes all of them, total reset.factory ect ect)
and tryd to retype the apn settings manually??
DID any one of you guys notice you have to set the IPV4 and IPV6 options in APN Editor????
or did any one RESET your sim?(yes you can, there are codes for that.ask your carrier)
if i want to connect to my carrier's APN i have to fide a bit with the setting and leave things out.
like BEN.NL( T-mo) says APN type needs to be: internet.
if i type internet in the APN type.
my network(3G ect) wont work.
i i leave APN type empty.
all works fine.

Xfinity Mobile Data Not Working

Hi,
Is anyone else having a problem with Xfinity Mobile data? I can make phone calls, but I can't get any data connection. This was a phone I bought from Sprint, and due to their messed up unlock system, it got relocked, so I manually unlocked it by using this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75994498&postcount=360
After that, the phone got unlocked successfully. It accepted a TMO sim, and I was able to update to newer firmware. Today, I decided to put it on my Xfinity Mobile line, and I just can't make data work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
OK. I think I narrowed down the problem. APN setting has VZWINTERNET. It's supposed to be COMCAST.RSLR.VZWENTP based on what I read on the internet. The problem is, I can't edit or add a new APN. I saw someone else talking about this APN setting problem, and his was resolved with the April security patch https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...cant-add-edit-apn-all-sudden-lost-4g-lte.html
I have that security patch already installed, but my problem persists. I can't change APN. Any help would be appreciated.
It's possible Xfinity locks the APN settings or that it has something to do with yours being the Sprint version. I would power the phone down and remove the SIM. Power the phone on with no SIM card and when you are booted up go into settings and reset the network settings. Power down again and insert your Xfinity SIM. That should ensure that the new SIM populates all the network settings.

Thank you for replying. That did not work. I don't think it's Xfinity. The problem is that APN gets locked to VZW instead of Xfinity's APN, which is why data doesn't work. I can put a TMO sim card in it and it works fine, so I don't know that there is something wrong with the phone itself. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate it. I'm desperate to get this working.

In a Reddit thread, a user says you need to disable Enhanced LTE:
Under Settings > More > Cellular Networks, disable "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" and set "System select" to "Automatic"
Haven't tried it myself, but I'm thinking of switching to XM and would like to know how this works out for you.
Get your original Xfinity phone factory reset the original Xfinity phone put your Sim in go through activation. This should work for you this also fixes volte on Xfinity If your volte ever gets deactivated. Anyway from what has happened to my other phones sometimes the apn can get changed on the Sim and got carried over somehow. Resetting the original Xfinity phone will bring the Sim settings back to the Sim card thus fixing your apn settings.
(Another way is to use another phone to edit the apn settings)
I also have Xfinity mobile and it's working fine. Just sometimes my apn gets uncheck and I don't know why
If you messed with bands.
Also make sure you go and download hidden settings from the playstore if you messed with your bands and selected American bands you need to select automatic bands if you messed with radio information page settings.
I messed with bands and it caused phone calls to not work.
---------- Post added at 10:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:31 AM ----------
The Sim saves apn settings and I did notice the first time using this essential phone I had 2 options in the apn and I read carefully which one to select. It may have saved the incorrect information to the Sim. I did this once on a Moto phone and I thought if I put Verizon apns instead of Comcasts I could get better speeds. But I caused my data to stop working. I reset the Moto phone and u still had the problems. I looked for the apn for Comcast couldn't find it. Then I thought of either editing the apn using another phone or using the original Xfinity phone. But it does get saved for sure. I ran into this issue before and I'm pretty sure this will resolve the problems.

Yes. I manually sideloaded Beta Oreo build, even though my phone already had the official OTA Oreo on it. That fixed the connection issue altogether.

Yea, it was just a desperate move lol. Glad it'll be helpful for others.
I had the worst time making the XFinity mobile work on Android Pie with the October patches in place and finally got it working. Basically, there was no way to edit the APN configuration even with root on the device via actual Android. What I did to fix this was the following...
-Followed the rooting procedure to get TWRP and Fastboot installed
-I then used "Termux" to copy the APN points configuration file to a writable location. In my case I copied the file from "\system\etc\apns-conf.xml" to a "\sdcard\Download". Keep a copy of the original file.
-I then simply copied the file over to my computer and opened it in NotePad++. I did a search for the following string in single quotes: 'carrier="Verizon"\n mcc="311" '
-This should pull up 5 results in the search and you should confirm that each of the lines has the mnc value set to 480, 'mnc="480"'. On each of the sections that came up, I switched the following variables as shown below...
apn="COMCAST.RSLR.VZWENTP"
authtype="0"
protocol="IP"
roaming_protocol="IP"
-Once you have edited the file, copy it to a writable location on the device, like "/sdcard/Download".
-This then requires rebooting into recovery mode with TWRP and you will need to make sure you have encryption and a PIN disabled on your device to make sure you have full access to the device file system.
-Within the main TWRP page, select "Mount" and you will need to have the "System" and "Data" partitions selected.
-Return to the main page and select "Advanced" and then "File Manager".
-Next, locate the original apns-conf.xml that you copied earlier. It should show up as being in "/system/system/apns-conf.xml". Click on that file, and select "chmod 755".
-Next, navigate to where you have the edited apn file located. Copy that file over to replace the apns configuration file at "/system/system/apns-conf.xml". Just make sure you have a backup of that original file before replacing it.
-Finally, reboot your phone into the OS and you should magically have Xfinity mobile working.
This took a lot longer than I wanted to spend getting it working, but I believe this is because of the carrier ID and MCC being shared with Verizon instead of a separate one for XFinity mobile which forces it to default to the first Verizon APN setting which doesn't allow this to work. There are other ways to edit the APN configuration file, however I found it was quickest to do the actual file replacement with TWRP since that gives you full file system root access.

You couldn't cut and paste the file back with a root file manager? Maybe a magisk module? And does this lock you to Verizon?

I'm sure there are other ways to get the file back there, but I found my approach to be a quick bypass for other methods of getting root.
Regarding Verizon, It would probably break a Verizon connection for a sim carrier code of 311480. However, since this post is about Xfinity mobile, this is the quick way I got it working. In the future I want to change the priority on the APN configurations which may allow Xfinity mobile and Verizon to play nicely. The issues that have caused this are Android Pie restricting people from changing settings on the phones they own and Xfinity mobile being either too lazy or cheap to commit to their own carrier code and provide that information to manufacturers.

Breaking a Verizon contract for sim carrier code would be a drastic move, considering.. The only money you have to spend is $5 on a Verizon prepaid phone card. Go into a Verizon corporate store and they will give you a sim, ( it's $20 if you don't go to the corporate store)

Earlier (see below) I could get the *#546368#*915# menu (which should now have become *#546368#*910# right?), but now nothing happens anymore. Is that overwritten by LineageOS?
What I get now is *#*#4636#*#* with this info:
IMEI: Same as on sticker under battery
Phone number: correct
Current network: Telekom.de
Signal strength: -103 dBm 5 asu
Voice service: In service
Data service: Connecting
Voice network type: UMTS
Data network type: UMTS
Voice call status: Idle
Roaming: Not roaming
Set preferred network type: LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)
Run Ping test: Hostname IPv4: Fail(2)
Run Ping test: Hostname IPv6: Fail(2)
Run Ping test: HTTP Client Test: Fail: IOException
What else can I read out, to help you diagnose it?
Thanks!
what I have tried
some of the things that I have tried so far:
dirtysanta via JustRunMe.cmd script (finally worked when I had found out all these 5 hints)
LineageOS-14.1, quite some app install and configuration work, and then a TWRP backup.
... only days later (because ill always at home) suddenly realized: Oops, I have no mobile data!
bricked when trying to flash some stock ROM
(unpatched) LGUP refused any KDZ but this one "h910PR" (PuertoRico? Claro branded), so I flashed that. But then not even a carrier signal. And not dirtysanta rootable.
Patched LGUP - hint: specific path
Patched LGUP: Complete dump (of that dysfunctional state, but perhaps some of my original partitions are still in there?)
Patched LGUP: flash h915 KDZ "H91510e_00_VTR_CA_OP_1205.kdz"
dirtysanta, same as above, but with newer TWRP
TWRP --> h910 firmware "h910-10r.zip", see this thread. Resulted in faulty state, frequent app crashes; EULA crashing, so I could not even get to USB debugging settings. Gave up. Instead:
TWRP --> restored my previous LineageOS from above.
Whew, happy to have most functionality back after that horrible odyssee - but still no mobile data. Any ideas what else I can try?
useful pages
possibly useful threads and posts that I found while searching for solutions and trying all kind of things
complicated instructions to "fix signal and data (h910 only)" - not tried yet.
ARB *#LGMENU#*910#
patchedLGUP --> h915 --> TWRP --> h910? Tried that, but then lots of apps crashing, incl. EULA crashing, i.e. could never get back to USB-debugging; decided to restore back my initial LOS backup instead
h910 return to stock
perhaps flash modem and operatorlogging - but where to get them from, as I have no own dump from before.
*#*#4636#*#* = hidden menu under LOS
...
... = more to be added, unready
"after a battle, everyone is a general"
It would have been clever to do these two things initially, before I even started:
complete dump with "patched LGUP" (see hint above about the only allowed PATH for unpacking)
then I would have a copy of my whole phone now - but that ship has sailed.
(Anyone who can help me, providing me with some of the original partitions, please contact me, thanks!)
Then, as soon as I was in TWRP it would have been clever to do
a complete TWRP backup
I dimly remember to have actually tried that, and a lot of the partitions did not work to be backuped within TWRP, not EFS or anything else? (possibly because the dirtysanta JustRunMe.cmd method had flashed a 996-TWRP onto my h910 ? Or for whatever reason, ...) I could not backup them, so my earliest TWRP backup (more than two weeks ago *sigh*) sadly only contains ONE partition "system" which is the original system plus dirtysanta.
I do have a later EFS + firmware partition TWRP backup. Later = after LineageOS installed already. Without that backup, I would not have gotten the carrier signal back. But it stll does not seem enough to give me mobile data ... ? What am I missing?
What might help you to understand why I did neither backups: I would have never in my wildest dreams imagined that, more than 2 weeks later, I would still be struggling with this one limited task, to simply unlock & reinstall a phone. Sorry, I completely underestimated the complexity of this whole endeavour. My hint to you: Treat it like an open brain surgery on your only child. Yes, BEFORE YOU START, you want any backup imagineable, even if it takes you days to find out how exactly to execute that backup. This is not easy klte Samsung s5; this LG stuff here is a whole different ballgame. TAKE IT MORE SERIOUS. Do backups first!
May your phone not get wasted. And may my own phone perhaps still get saved somehow ... Thanks for any idea you have for that!
----
Edit:
oh wow, this looks SUPEREASY "partitions backup & restore" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.partitions = BACKUP EVERYTHING, SIMPLY FROM AN APP. Only works after rooting, but that should be the first thing you do then !!!!!!
In short: All working, but no mobile internet. Any ideas much welcome.
Have you checked your apns?
Thanks.

Yes.
But checked again now:
APN "reset to default". There were 6 different apn settings. I let the phone decide.
then I chose the one that their homepage explained to be the right one.
then I put the SIM into some stock ROM phone (where I got mobile data just fine with that SIM), wrote down all APN settings, swapped back the SIM into the v20, and entered a manual APN with those exact settings.
In all cases - No mobile data.
What can I try next?
anyone new ideas?

SIMs connect fine, with two different carriers.
But no mobile data. What to do?

What about manually inputting your telcos apn details o see if that will switch it on. I know my telco here in aus has about 4 different apn's

Hmmm could be that your Arial plugs might be misaligned or not connecting properly though that's a long shot. I've bought a few of these lgv20s and one had a faulty Arial which I fixed through removing the bottom wedge slot of the phone and patching it up. Telco antenna is the bottom right gold plugs if I remember correctly. I also take out the mesh in between the bottom speaker which increases the speakers volume somewhat... But I digress... When entering the apn manually there is usually a setting that says to leave empty e.g 'authentication' ~none~ which you have to actually select 'none' not just leave it blank. That's gotten the better of me many times now...

So your running at&t phone? I flashed the alpha Omega Oreo 8.0 rom and it works beautiful. I did the dirty santa root using patched lg up to flash 915kdz then as soon as twrp is on the phone I flash straight to alpha Omega rom. No return to stock options because I'm lazy . I've done it to 3 v20s now and though the first root was timely...boot loops ect... It was only because the phone is a finnicky one to root.
The link for alpha rom. Make sure you have an SD card that's formatted to the specified setting. Don't make the stupid mistake I did with my 256gb SD card which I left in the phone while flashing the room and kernal........ Lucky there's a program called 'recuva ' which saved most of my filesystems but now the card is a jumbled mess of **** everywhere lol. Live and learn...

It also might be that your at&t apps 'permissions settings ' may need to be resset or maybe updated? I'm still slowly figuring out which system and AT&T apps ect I can safely remove which won't affect the phones various call function s for use in AUS. I had an interesting failure using debloater software which resulted in me apparently uninstalling something I shouldn't have which caused the second screen to stop working and thus a phone resset.

Where exactly is the Aerial you are talking about?
Also ... if the Aerial were the problem, then would not I have no cell reception at all? Sorry, but I don't understand phone tech well enough yet.
I do have cell signal, I can call out, receive calls, send and receive SMS, etc. - but no mobile data, regardless what I tried.

Good to know.
I have checked the APN settings again. Wrote it all down when that SIM in a 2nd phone, then input all information onto an APN setting on the sick V20.
The only such place is "Authentication type", and it has to be set not to "None" but to "PAP". (Or rather, I have just tried it out, it does not matter whether it is set to "None" or to "PAP" because both works, and it is set to "PAP").
All the other places either have a value set, or "not set", which is an empty entry.
How do APNs work in general?
I had always assumed I need only ONE of those APN settings (the one which is "enabled" via radiobutton). Is that correct? Or do I have to input all 9 APNs? I have just done ... Mobile Network settings ... Access point names ... three dots menu ... Reset to default. Now (on the stockrom-data-working-fine-phone) I see 9 APNs, seven of which have a radio button, and one of them is enabled. I only need that one APN settings, right?

Yes but no. Yes, is h910 hardware, but no, I am running LineageOS. See #2 diagnosis. However, I got there on a rather convoluted way, see post "#3 History".

Yes.
I might try alpha Omega Oreo 8.0 rom when I find the time for it. But while I was on that odyssee described in post #3 , I always tried, and I did not have mobile data nowhere. But perhaps it is worth the try, to also flash AlphaOmega, and see if it's actually the v20-LineageOS which is f***ing up the mobile data. In between I had also tried the October LineageOS instead of the November LineageOS, but both give no mobile data on my device.

I am not running AT&T, but LineageOS.
Which "permission settings" could prevent getting mobile data?
Where in LineageOS (or more general in Android) do I "reset all permission settings" ?
Thanks a lot!
For future reference this is where the mobile reception antenna is located. I'm swaying more towards thinking it's the liniage rom which is the 'root' ?of your problems.. download the Omega rom which is the same as your actual original phone. As long as you have twrp on your phone you should be good.

the arial actually runs along the inside of the plastic cover and when i recieved this phone through ebay from hongkong (260$) bargain lol the contacts werent touching so i soldered a thin copper piece to the inside of the end cap and voila! also if your interested, the wifi arial is in line with the mobile arial but on the other end or at the top of the phone.
about the sd card..... i believe it says somthing as you start the actual rom flashing about that.

this caused me much grief in the past sigh*
i lost data and signal after every new rom instal. What i need to do was to flash modem, modemst1 and modemst2 through fastboot to get back signal and data, but it only works on stock nougat rom.On oreo rom i get back only signal but no data. Now i am using super rom https://www.super-rom.ga/# , where i have signal and data without need to flash dumps. Only thing i need to do is set apn.
Thank you two sooooo much, great infos. Sorry: Super busy with other things right now. But I will definitely try all this as soon as I can.
Looks like LineageOS for the V20 is faulty?

I bought a V20 to use LineageOS, and "signal but no data" is not what I expected, but perhaps that is only me lol.
How can we get that information onto the official pages? So that people are warned before? e.g.
* the lineageos page https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/h910/install
* perhaps here too? https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/dev-cm14-t3509953
* where else?
Any ideas how to add information to that LOS page?
I have the exact same issue as you, I bought a brand new V20 and got it rooted with the very first guide by me2151 to then install LOS 18.1. Everything works but mobile data. Longer explanation in this post.
Did you manage to find a solution ? I'd rather get on some track from someone experienced and knowledgeable than to start reinstalling for likely nothing.

Deleteing ModemSt 1,2 Failed

Having some issues with restoring my service. I'm rooted on Lineage 15.1. I can not edit the apn settings that were preloaded. I have spotty 4G and never cell service. I've been told deleting my modemst1 and modemst2 files that it will force the modem settings to be re-written as per new sim card settings. When i try fastboot delete modemst1 or 2 i get "Failed cannot erase in an unlocked state". So i locked the bootloader back up and tried again and this time i get "Failed cannot erase in a locked state". What would be the proper way to delete these settings? How else may i restore my data+phone service?
You should not need to delete those files and I'd recommend leaving them alone. If those are files outside the data and system partitions, screwing up those partitions will require you to flash stock image with LGs software restore, which can be a ***** to get going if you're not too familiar in dealing with the quirks to getting everything done right and successfully flash stock images. You'll pull some hairs out for sure.
Have you tried simply resetting the APN to default? When you do, you should get a long list of potential carriers and you can then select the Tmobile APN from it. But I avoid that process altogether and simply created a new APN using Tmobile info even with having an active Metro SIM installed.
You should get some service even if 3G only. It may just be your area isn't too great for Tmos 4G. But no service or data at all is usually due to bad SIM, incorrect APN settings, or modified/corrupt phone data. If you've tinkered with those other modem partitions in recovery or fastboot, you might as well plan to take a few hours to find all the files you'll need and set up the programs on your PC to prepare and flash LG stock image because LG restore is the only way you'll get to rewrite those untouchable phone partitions with the correct hardcoded phone data.
That is exactly what i am trying to do actually. My K20 was granted Permanent unlock years ago, It doesnt ask for a unlock pin with new sims. However no matter how many times i reset the APN's, I only can connect via 4G. I do not have Voice Service. I need to restore the stock image. Which i have i had a MP260, I have flashed the TP260 stock image successfully, I am even running LOS 15.1 without any issues other than i can not make calls.

What i was trying to say was that i agree with you. I am not trying to mess with those individually. My apn settings have gotten mixed up. I am connecting to cell towers, but i do not have voice service. . SO i am trying to fix those completely.
So you have data service and can access the web and whatnot with 4G speeds, not cannot make or receive calls and text messages?
Correct. I can however check my voicemail successfully from the device.

I wouldnt come to think that being able to call your VM and have mobile data that the issue is your APN. If anything it would be proof that it's set up properly. If you can call your voicemail, which is a phone number, that means your phone should be able to make calls. There's no reason it would deny making or receiving calls because the very fact you can access VM mobile data means your phones cell radio is working and connected to a tower.
The issue may actually be between the phone and the carrier. You mentioned you've switched out several SIM cards to test the phone right? Is it possible the carrier needs to activate or register your phone on their end to establish full features? I've known of similar issues when switching phones using the same SIM where data and some telephony is immediately available but limited in some way, like being able to make calls but not text, or able to receive texts but not send while being able to make and receive calls. Or able to send and receive calls and text but no data.
Just curious, can you post what your current APN settings are?
I tried to get a good screenshot of my apns. They were locked and i couldn't add either. I am starting to think the problem maybe that i had a SIM card installed when i flashed the OS.

GravityBox on the LG K20 Plus, I believe for both stock rom and Lineage has compatibility issues with the framework advanced tuning feature where it crashes the app and pretty much makes all of the settings in your screenshot inaccessible.
If you're on Lineage and you can't edit or simply add APNs, there's a bigger problem than just carrier operability. You should be able to at least create a new APN, editing of the existing default one is normally restricted but that's about it.
Maybe try doing a clean flash. An assuredly clean flash, like maybe flash LG stock image with clean partitions and device files, reinstall recovery and install LOS 15.1, magisk, gapps. Don't tinker with any modem or system files in between. If that works, great. If not, you'd at least have a clean system to work with modifying the apn config file and no run around chasing after a problem with fixes left and right with no luck fixing the actual problem.
some settings but not mtu preferred apn speeds net up and h2g2 project fi apn 3x speed
