Root or development mode detected on brand new LG G6 - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello,
I get an issue on my brand new LG G6. After booting it for the first time, I loaded my gmail account and downloaded my apps. Then I performed the upgrade to come to the latest firmware version.
So, no modification was done regarding bootloader, root access or development mode. Anyway my bank app refuses to start with the message "Root or development mode detected". How is this possible ?
Anyone is experiencing the same behavior ?

Do a fresh install using LGUP and uppercut

Where are you buy this phone ? It looks like a refurbished product..

Device was buyed in a mainstream shop. Package seemed brand new.
I flashed device with stock firmware and it is ok now. How does it come they sell refurbished as new devices ?

Normally if it is reconditioned it is necessarily indicated, it's weird, was there a sticker on the box for the sealed warranty?
The new G6 has a very thin plastic screen protector to affix basic, was it present?

LG G2 not registered?

So I just bought a G2 today, awesome phone, but when I tried to check for updates, it says my phone is not registered.
Here's a screenshot, The first one is updating through the phone itself, the other is from my PC with LG PC Suite.
If you bought the phone from an official seller/reseller,there should be no problem in registering. If you bought it from other sources, you won't be able to register it. There are 2 solutions. Flash a stock rom for your country using kdz updater or find out the country your phone was designed for and use a proxy to register it.

Err... hello?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
hi, stock software was D80210b-SEA-xxx which i think is singapore
ive flashed UK Open D802 (D80210b-EUR-xxx) but it still says not registered when i try to check for update
i know there this is no update available but didn't expect to see it say not registered
any ideas?
I have this same problem i want to update my G2 D800!
I bought the phone on swappa, mint. It's the AT&T version but i unlocked it and am using it on Claro Dominican Republic. I even get 4G and everything, but the update is done through an AT&T app. F&$&#* this guys!
So in case i use a proxy, how exactly would i go about "registering it"? I mean i think the way the update is done is the phone checks with the AT&T servers for the update and takes it from there. I need to get my phone registered in the AT&T servers to get the update right?
God i hate AT&T. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

lg g2
I bought my g2 last Friday June13th from Personal, a phone carrier in Argentina and I have the same problem described above. LG representative first told me this was not a defect but then she told that they had received several claims about this issue and that the engineers are working on this. However I have read that a guy fixed it replacing the sim, anyone can fix this problem in any other way?

[Q] Explain the JDI panel white lines problem to me like I'm five

TL;DR: Why is it that with all the hype about the G2 no one ever comes out and tells you about the panel problems and how to fix them?
So I bought an "as new" "refurbished" D801 on ebay last week having done some basic research that confirmed Lollipop was available, TWRP was available and root was available. That's all I've ever needed to know before I set up any other Android device. Turned out not to be so simple.
I thought I would update to LP (what is the abbreviation for "Lollipop" anyway?), root (knowing Towelroot wouldn't work) and install TWRP via Autorec. LP was a nightmare in itself what with flaky root scripts, bad battery life and important apps like Viper4Android that refused to work. But TWRP (the only recovery that seems to really be available and up to date for this phone) was a *disaster*.
Halfway through a backup the screen would become corrupted with horrible black lines. When I did manage to create a backup TWRP didn't see it in its backup folder. This happened no matter which version of TWRP I installed by whatever means. Eventually I got back to stock Kitkat rooted with TWRP 2.8 and now I had white lines every time the phone went into sleep.
After struggling with this for a few days I solved the problem and fortunately no permanent damage appears to have been done to the screen. I installed dr87's version of TWRP ([ROM] [4.4.4] [D800/801/802/803/LSVS980/F320… - Pg. 1035 | LG G2 | XDA Forums - http://is.gd/Acgqa1) which presumes that the black lines are caused by "normal" TWRP overheating the phone. Then I found out that JDI needed a custom kernel so after I installed Cloudy G3 I flashed the G2 panel swap zip (http://downloads.codefi.re/savoca/galbi/G2PanelSwap) which was probably redundant since I understand the Cloudy installer knows what kernel the two panels require and installs it automatically. I understand that both dr87 and Cloudy have custom kernels that work with the JDI panel but I didn't need to flash either of them.
So now everything is hunky dory and LP 5.1 will have to be a major improvement to get me to "upgrade," assuming the D801 ever gets it.
So riddle me this:
1) I only ever had these problems when TWRP was installed, on any version of stock. What is it about the interaction between TWRP and the JDI panel that sucks so bad with a stock kernel?
2) Apparently if you have a customized kernel for the JDI panel you can use a "normal" version of TWRP. Is this right and why?
3) What is the relationship between a custom recovery and a kernel that has to be just right or there's trouble?
4) Why can't the developer of Autorec ensure that downloads for the D801 prevent the JDI panel problems?
5) I only had the *black* lines with one configuration (which I can't remember) and although they are said to indicate hw failure and be permanent mine thankfully went away when I was running rooted stock with the stock recovery. However when I reinstalled TWRP I now had the white lines problem when the phone awoke from sleep. Black lines/white lines - what the heck?
- do you want the d801_autorec with autorecognition of panels ?
IF the answer is yes then pm me and we will solve it, that would be the easiest method.
+refurbished can mean anything. For example, if I see a d802 "refurbished" I already think: "oh ****..."

I have bought any number of devices on ebay and Newegg (*not* Craigslist!) that were described as "refurbished" and as long as they were also described as "open box," "mint," "as new" or "new other," they were perfect. Both your high volume ebay resellers and Newegg are very anxious to maintain their reputation and even a few negative feedbacks a month upset them. So I think they take pains to be accurate in their descriptions of condition.
I think these phone are overstocks bought from the carriers in huge lots and then "binned" the way cpus and ram are. Some units are "new" and just cannot be sold with the original boxes and often accessories. The only handling they may have seen was in the course of carrier unlocking.
Some others may be customer returns in resalable condition, what Newegg calls "open box." And some may be demo units from the retail selling floor. I would expect these to be in the worst shape cosmetically and to require a technician to reset them back to stock. So they have been handled enough to be iffy. The price usually reflects this.
In any case I very much doubt that these are ever "used" or "pre-owned" in the sense that Craigslist phones are.
And besides if you are buying a phone outright and intend to root it and install a recovery and custom ROM, why pay for a new phone with a warranty. Now it so happens the LG phones I'm familiar with (D801 and OG Pro E980) can have their bootloaders unlocked with exploits that are undetectable if you use the LG Flashtool to go back to stock. But the Motorola Atrix HD I bought cheaply once bootloader unlocked was permanently changed and could never be serviced under warranty.
Given that I will only go with T-Mobile and won't buy the newest model of any manufacturer I will continue to buy TMO refurbished or AT&T unlocked on ebay and don't expect to be disappointed. The D801 I just bought for $190 shipped is in perfect conditon.
As for Autorec automatically recognizing the panel I think it's a must: it would have saved me no end of heartache. Could you please explain how the recovery (or your installation process), the kernel and the panel interact so as to create problems for many users? Thanks for your responsiveness.
There are 2 types of panel. How different they are I'm not sure. Some variants have jdi and lgd, most have only lgd. Tomorrow I will remake the d801 when I get some free time. Working week destroys me(mentally, so I tend to rest). As long as users are interacting with any dev, the dev always goes for solving issues. Thx

Thank you!!
You seem to be saying that if Autorec correctly determines the type of panel it can install TWRP in such a way that the stock kernel can be used. Why is that? Are you changing TWRP itself or the installation process? Why don't the TWRP developers offer two different versions of the official recovery just as some custom ROM developers do? Wouldn't that save you some work and the users some pain?
And why do the ROM developers offer two different versions of the kernel, implying that if the kernel is correct the standard version of TWRP can be used? It seems that either the kernel or the recovery must be modified but not necessarily both. Why is that?
Don't other variants beside the D801 use JDI panels and aren't they prone to the same problems, and so would need the same fix(es)? Or are there proportionately more D801 units being made with the JDI panel? I understand that the CDMA variants tend to use the LGD panel.
Still looking for what it is about the interaction between the recovery and the kernel that has to be changed for the problem to be avoided.
But autorec solving the problem on its own is a great start! Not to be a complete PITA but don't both the AR versions for KK and LP have to be changed?
I really do sound like a five year old, don't I?
I guess also Sprint users have them. Some d802 report also but I think they have refurbished phones.

With respect I don't think "refurbished" has anything to do with the screen version. There isn't enough money left in these devices for LG (let alone T-Mobile) to take the trouble to replace the screen in a unit returned as defective. As I said I believe the majority of devices sold as "refurbished" these days are actually unsold "overstock."
I also believe it is the carriers, not LG, putting these up at auction by the thousands because they cannot return them to to LG and they have been replaced in the stores by newer models. By selling unused phones this way they have a chance to get a lot of their outlay back without further expense.
When a listing says "seller refurbished" I think that simply means that the reseller has unlocked the phone for all GSM carriers vs. "factory unlocked" (whatever that means). I don't believe it means the reseller has "repaired" a used phone. There simply is no profit in that and the resellers aren't equipped to do it anyway.
"Refurbished" is not a dirty word.
refurbished is cool- As long it's not a d802
if you look up any "d802" and "refurbished" you will find out why
pardon, I didn't express myself well.
They put d800 or d801 screens inside d802 or vice versa, so.. What firmware do the people flash ? yeah..
Any news on this? i used autoroot today on a d801 and happened the same to me. TWRP overheated and when rebooting the sistem there where vertical lines.
Going back to stock recovery seems to have fixed the issue.
Does this error also happen if i use the bumped kernel only and not the recovery?
Thnk you!!!

DESPERATELY NEED HELP. New Phone stopped working after update

Hello frnds,
I just purchased a new g2 off from ebay and updated the phone using lg pc suite and boom!!! the phone stopped detecting any network. On diagonising, i figured out its IMEI became null.
When i purchased, the phone worked well and luckily i have noted down the imei number and the original firmware: D80220e(just could not find this firmware's .kdz anywhere on XDA) . So the first attempt was to reinstate the imei. But the pc just would detect the phone in both QPST and LG PC suite. So i checked online, the imei number belonged to UAE, so I flashed the UAE firmware using .kdz method. The phone went into a boot-loop plus it kept formatting itself with every boot.
Then i tried the indian firmware version, with this the touch drivers seem to have got currupted. it does not detect touch properly.
Then I read somewhere that such things can happen if the firmware flashed is of a different model. So i needed to check the exact model no. of my phone and so i opened by back cover just to find that some parts like antenna, nfc chip, back cover etc had 802 model no. on them while below the battery and on the F touch strip beside it, its given as LS980. Further, the back cover has 802t printed on it. Now i am totally confused what to do.
I had read on a post on XDA that some people are selling G2 for real cheap by mixing the left over spare parts of all g2 models as the model is about to close and hence they are clearing off all inventory. Looks like I am stuck with such a peice.
Please suggest what shall i do. Need help desperately.
My ebay vendor is situated in my city itself and he has more such peices.
Attaching pics, please see them and suggest accordingly.

Definitely it's an refurbished note 4 N910K SK telecom korean model and probably faked by N910C software on it and the sticker behind battery is fake too.
And i highly doubt the screen display is not original that's why it has issues and god knows what else is not original inside of phone so if you got any warranty return it as soon as possible because refurbished phones are made by chinese companies they buy damaged phones then replaced whatever damaged inside "definitely not original of course"
then they put a brand new body housing so its looks like new then same goes to box and other stuff.
When you are in download mode whatever model shows there that is correct motherboard model.

Samsung S8 , there's an internal error + keyboard cover isn't detectd

hi..
i just bought a new 950F s8 phone as the first thing i see is "there's an internal problem with your device"
on top of that my keyboard cover doesn't seem to be detected .
i also can't do an OTA as i'm getting "your current software version isn't supported"
i had a look around i think all these might be related to the rom, it's PIE.
the build number starts with PPR.180610.011.G950FXXU3DSC7 and ends with DSC7
so is it possible my rom isn't compatible with my country? (it's actually purchased locally)
can i install a new rom from pie 9 that will match?
is it possible that i could remain unrooted so i could play ingress (which detects rooted devices)
