Pretty good deal on Pixel XL - Google Pixel 2 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

Edit--nevermind. I didn't know it had unlockable bootloader. Had to cancel order.
I didn't know Walmart sold Pixels but last not I found a pretty good deal. $849 for Pixel 2 xl 128GB. Thats $100 cheaper than Google Store. When I checked out with the Wal-Mart app they took off another $5 bringing the total with tax to $896.75
It may be a mistake on the website. I was considering saving money and going with the 64GB version but the price remained $849 regardless of which oneI selected (64 or 128).
I believe this only applies to the all black model.
I've gotta wait till Monday for it to arrive. I'm really excited to have a Google phone again!

I also noticed they have new insurance plans that are fairly cheap. I was getting a 404 error yesterday but hopefully the kinks are worked out. It's good for accidents and drop protection.
So I can go to a t mo and buy it full price? Do I need to get a contract or something?
Or its better to just order it on negrie ? That way its already sim unlock also?

Some store's will sell it to you without having service and some will not. If you have no other store's in your area try going with a friend who does have service. I myself ordered from Negri.

Whats better to get ? From t mobile or negri? Or pretty much the same? Are prices the same? So if I go to a t mo store and buy full price they will unlock it for me? As in sim unlock right? Will they charge for that?
I notice that negri has them already unlocked.. sim that is.. if thats what it is..
How does negri have them sim unlocked? I assume they buy bulks from carriers and unlock them ? This are not open boxes and repackaged?

If you need the phone like yesterday then go to the T-Mobile store. If you can wait a little bit by far Negri is cheaper. There is no tax and it is already SIM unlocked. It looks like T-mobile is asking you to wait 30 days before they SIM unlock it.

There could be a developer edition sometime in the future. I very highly doubt a google play edition because the Note 3 is focused to much around the S-Pen and the features it has in touchwiz. Stock android does not have those custom features.

Cheapest place to get a code unlock (Canadian S4)

Wondering if anyone had any updated vendors where I can grab a cheap code to unlock the i337m in Canada (Rogers). TIA.
Check with your carrier before buying one. They may give it to you. I've gotten several from AT&T and T-Mobile over the years.

Pretty sure Robbers will charge you $50 for the unlock. You can probably find a cheaper alternative online.
Yeah I figured if it was about 10-15 bucks, I could just save myself the hassle in advance and proactively grab the code before my trip in the future. Definitely would not be unlocking through Rogers although I thought after 3 months you are free to unlock your device... Maybe that is with the $50 charge.

I paid $15 CAD at cellunlocker.net and it worked - no issue. Rogers will def.charge you $50 to unlock, and the engineering mode seems to be gimped on the Rogers 1337m (I unlocked my first generation SGS using engineering mode)
If you use cellunlocker, make sure you're on the stock firmware; their code won't work on a custom ROM.

Well I got lucky and ordered the Dev edition on HTC's site before they pulled it down. I did however receive a cancellation email. I called back and they put it back in, (had an issue with my bank) and she even waived the overnight shipping for me. Said it will ship next week. The only thing is, order status says shipping today.
One question, Anyone know if the Dev Edition will work with AT&T LTE?

The Developer Edition is based directly off of the AT&T SKU of the phone. This means it's only fully supported by AT&T's network, and no others.
Edit: I ordered mine while it was still up also, but it got cancelled and I couldn't re order. A few users have talked to HTC, and they've said the Dev edition will ship on 4/3 so I'm pretty sure that's when it will happen. You got lucky though, they weren't that nice to me XD
Anyhow, I ordered one from Amazon at the above link with prime overnight shipping, so I truly hope it comes relatively soon. They won't charge me until it ships, though, so that's nice.
Thanks... I canceled my Google play edition and ordered the developer edition gunmetal color. Ordered with next day prime shipping, with Amazon's awesome customer and return policy I prefer to buy from them instead of HTC or Google.

as far as i know DE is the okay way to be unlocked with out voiding any warranties. The regular unlock is us being sneaky and doing it.

Yes I read that somewhere too, that the DE is more or less a gimmick and not as fully unlocked the moniker suggests. If that's the case, then the unlocked edition is fine and I would save myself the the extra $50 over the GPE..

The only thing is if your on tmobile you will not get coverage everywhere with the DE, so that the big thing.

The unlocked version is the same as the DE. Just doesn't have a unlocked boot loader to flash freely as DE. It's still doesn't have the right Band to give you 4g/LTE everywhere.

OK so here's what I know:
The HTC One M8 Google Play Edition is fully unlocked, and fully supports T-Mobile and AT&T in the USA.
The HTC One M8 Developer's Edtion has the exact same bands as the AT&T model, so it is fully supported by them only. It, too, is fully unlocked, but it doesn't have the AWS band for T-Mobile. Both of these phones are usable overseas, however, and this is why there's an advantage over a carrier version.
There has been no official word on the specs/compatibility of an unlocked non-developer version yet, so I can't comment there.
Lastly, the reason the GPE, Dev, unlocked, and 32GB carrier versions are delayed is that the 32GB phone isn't technically out yet.
There's most of what I know about the situation as of now.

Verizon Pixel Bootloader Unlocking Discussions

I'm from a country that official google store is not available, so I have to purchase Pixel via a seller. Since he's got only Verizon version, I cannot change to a Google edition to get bootloader unlockable.
My phone is already updated to android 7.1.2 so depixel8 will not work on my case, I think there are a lot of people like me hope to have bootloader unlocked.
There is already a thread discusses abt Pixel XL: Verizon Pixel XL - Unlocking Discussions
If there is any a method available it should be working on both phones. So If anyone figure out a way please let us know.

It is NOT the SIM. If that were the case, then all the Google store versions would get their bootloaders locked as soon as a Verizon SIM was installed. That is NOT the case. Some people are just getting lucky for whatever reason, and they are getting Pixels with bootloaders that are able to be unlocked.

Correct, the Google Play Store pixels do not have locked bootloader regardless of the SIM that is in them. I have a pixel from the Google Play Store, and a Verizon SIM. My bootloader has been unlockable from day one. The SIM simply has nothing to do with it. The truth is no one knows for sure, but logic say that the IMEI's have a black list, and a white list, and for some reason Verizon is letting go of some Pixels that are on the white list. Could be Google, and HTC not being able to supply as many as they need.

As much as I wanted it to be sim-related (so i could potentially unlock my replacement) I'm a firm believer that it is not and most likely is an IMEI black/white list of sorts. I've talked to both Google and Verizon regarding the matter and both deny having any knowledge of why they become locked...although I didn't really expect them to admit it.

If you look through the Droid-Life archives, they have a post that said they point blank asked Verizon if the bootloaders on the Pixels that they sell would be locked, and they said yes. In the beginning they were, and the only way to unlock them was with depixel8. Then I think it was two security releases later they patched that hole, and if you took that OTA without having unlocked your bootloader you were screwed. It's only in the last couple of months that people have been reporting that they have gotten phones from Verizon with bootloaders that are able to be unlocked.

T-Mobile bootloader unlock.

Just so everyone with a T-Mo variant is aware. Calling T-Force does still work. Tell them that you are a developer for work and need access to the bootloader unlock which is tied to the device unlock. Not sure on Sprint. I wasn't successful with mine either.
I was able to get t-force on fb messenger to help me unlock my 7pro early but I've tried 3 times now saying I'm a developer and 3x was told I have to wait 45 days

Currently chatting with sprint and they're trying to find a way to unlock bootloader without unlocking sim lol. Who knows though. There 2 different systems so maybe.
Would an imei unlock type thing work?

did you pay off the op8t? just curious because I didn't buy it out right
Good luck getting a Bootloader Unlock code from OnePlus as their site is drunk and keeps saying enter a valid unlock code

Just so everyone with a T-Mo variant is aware. Calling T-Force does still work. Tell them that you are a developer for work and need access to the bootloader unlock which is tied to the device unlock. As long as you are s good standing customer and the rep feels they can trust you, you're golden. Took me about 5 minutes

Is this just to skip the 40-day thing or do they also unlock devices still on EIP?

"I'm a developer for work, and the bootloader unlock is something I need and is why I bought a OnePlus. I was not aware T-Mobile locked this feature. The bootloader unlock is tied to the SIM unlock. Can we sim unlock it to give me access to the bootloader unlock? I'm not planning on leaving or going anywhere obviously. But this is just a feature I REALLY need"
Is essentially what I said.
If you got 1/2 off, you may loose the discount by paying it off early.
I'm just going to bring some bagels and coffee to my new buds at the local T-Mobile store.
Can the T-Mobile KB2007 be rooted yet?

Note: Ensure you won't loose ant discounts by paying the phone off early
