It is old discussion but I have lot of phone and 1year ago i had Motorola G5. P20 everything off -8% per 8 hours / G5 1-2% per 8hours ..
Battery are the same 3300 vs 3000mAh. Where is the problem ? With ultra saving mode with P20 drain is 0-1% per 8 hour.. Optimalisation of standart mode is not good, even if agresively close apps. This is problem for me which I hope it will be solved..but still nothing then it is normal i think.. Next phone will be with clear android like G5 :/ ..EMUI have good things but....

Battery drain is visible, it's 14.37 and with 1 hour or so of screen on time, Whatsapp(web version so phone is theoretically standby) and 5 minutes of Facebook battery is at 56%.
I don't know why but i would've expected more from this phone, i come from a Meizu M1 note which with the same usage gave me similar results but it's a phone from January 2015 and not a top of the range smartphone.
I wonder if there are settings to prevent this because it seems that battery drains fast even in standby, it's my first Huawei so any help with EMUI settings is appreciated, as well as help with activating stereo speaker mode.
I am using a Huawei P20

No battery drain for me, very good standby battery IMO. 24h+ with 3h+ SOT avg usage.

Battery life is pretty good IMO. I have owned this device for a few weeks now and overall I am pretty satisfied with the autonomy. I can easily last a full day with a bit of YouTube, some calls, messenger, photos and end up my day with approximately 30%.
Extremely satisfied with the off screen battery save which is the main advantage!

My P20 Pro takes about 1% per hour at night. Had hoped for less. Have no problem manage a full day on a full charge

Mine also.
With the WiFi off and no data connection it drops 1% /hour.

Excellent battery in my opinion. Only 1-3% drop of battery across the night (~8 hours).

Doing Great with mine
My battery doesn't drop too much either , like 58% of my usage is hardware and come from the screen brightness and I think in ultra power save mode the battery can drop 1% per 4-6 hours that so amazing from huawei and in normal standby I lose 1-3% in 2-3 hours

There are days when I had experienced close to 40% baterry drain (I don't use wifi) . On an average 10 to 15% drainage happens. Will double check this.
I have stopped using all good to have sensors and software features so that battery drainage is reduced. Hoping future software updates makes battery usage efficient.
Have managed to get satisfactory performance from battery now but at the cost of disabling Bixby, always on display and many sensor driven features including face unlock
No battery drain at all get 9 hours screen time on!
Sent from my SM-A730F using xda premium
I have observed Battery drain before as well as after Oreo update on Samsung A8+.
From 12 midnight to 6 AM, I have observed at least 7-8% drop in battery level. It also happens even if phone is in battery saver mode. At this time my phone is in Do Not Disturd mode and AOD is also disabled. Any solution for this issue?
My earlier handset Moto Z Play was dropping only 1% at night for same duration.
This what I got for about 7 hours

There were little to no standby battery drain so far (wifi 10.8).
Mine also has little drain when asleep. I never shut it off, and use it for reading and web browsing for 1 - 3 hours a day, and I end up charging it weekly. Even after a week I have as much as 40% battery life left.
Almost no standby-drain with WiFi off, maybe 1% over a day. Pretty good!
Since the last EMUI update, my Mediapad M5 is going from 100% to 0% overnight. Went from 80% to 43% in a couple of hours during the day ... Been absolutely fine till this latest update, lasting for several days and often up to a week on a single charge. Anyone else seen this?

I've heard really bad things about standby drain with this phone -- gsmarena's review indicates it's really horrible.
Can anyone with the phone elaborate on how it is?

I charge my phone during the night and remove it from the charger when I wake up during the night (usually at 3am). After that it's just laying around until about 10am(weekend) and if I pick it up it usually has 99 or 100%(wifi and Bluetooth enabled all the time). Of course there is more drain if you are on mobile data but you will have enough juice for one day for sure. I'm currently on 5,5h SOT with 22% left. Phone has not seen a charger for 13h and 34min, I had wifi for 10h and no time without signal
Well, after I disabled gallery sync, standby is really good. ~1%/hr which is for me perfectly fine

You are right, forgot to tell that, that mi sync stuff drained the battery a lot
(Test done with sync disabled)
During my sleep time (11PM-8AM - airplane mode active) it lose around 1% every two hours.
Else it lose around 1% every hour.
I'm currently at 86% of battery after doing 45~60 minutes of internet (estimated at 3% of battery use) and 15 hours and a half since last charge

I lost 8% battery overnight between 1:00am nd 9:00 pm
considering this a 12 nm chipset the drain should be less...however i dont blame it as this is not stock android
My battery drains too much at night when my phone is not in use......I leave my phone 50-70 percent battery at night but in the morning only 5-6 percent battery remains
It will a fault in your phone when last night I keep my phone at 14% in the morning I saw 12% remaining it drains but that much I see regular 4-5 % drop whole night
Bad Battery Life
Recently after updating to color os 5.2 i am seeing a great drop in power. I keep my phone wake at night and everytime i use I always try to maintain keep 30-40% charge at night. Say i used all day, closed all apps and let it rest at 12pm but when i woke up at 9am or 10am charge drops 20~28% and previously in default OS which came out of the box. My battery charge used stay between 2-3 days after a single 3 hours full 100% battery charge. (Without heavy usage and browsing) but after the update it doesn't even stay for a day. And it drains quite fast with normal usage. After a 8 hours my battery percentage shows about 55% charge remaining. I'm having a doubt is it because of the battery or the heavy buggy ?? ColorOS 5.2 update.
***New***
ColorOS 6 battery is more pathetic than Oreo Based 5.2 COS

Fantastic! Great battery! I've left it at 100% and after 3 days, it's still ~70% which is awesome!
24 hours standby with more than 7 hours continue music via bluetooth headphone, many many many pics with stock and Google camera, much browsing and youtube, and some other music editing apps, plus some long (in time) calls, and the battery still.......44%
The battery performance is awesome

on 10.3.1 idle is bad
On 10.3.1.0 when bt is connected and using it for music, standby is phenomenal, no drain at all
Link please
35% less over 1 night - I have a bad battery drain and I did reflash the roms
On 10.3.2 (Global), the battery drain is very noticeable.
10.3.1 (Global) was better for battery.
In standby mode, the smartphone consumes quite a bit of energy, in my opinion.
My phone uses like 1% battery per hour. Anyone know how to fix that?
