IS there a way to have FM Radio with Oreo? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hey guys. I read somewhere that since the Oreo update you can't have the FM Radio using the Spirit app, it's true? Is there any way to have the Radio?

The LineageOS rom has a FM Radio app working very well!

I guess you are on stock ROM. Dial *#*#6484#*#* from your dialer. There's an option to test FM radio. Use it from there.
Warning: Don't listen to it on higher volumes from there. It's for the sake of HW testing and can damage your eardrums.
And next time, use search feature on XDA. This will refrain you from creating duplicate threads about the same topic.

Don't do that and don't give advice without proper warning. It's hardware testing mode and work on higher volume that can destroy earbud and eardrum when you listening radio from this mode.

I'm not sure if it will work, but it's worth a try. I'm attaching the one from Pixel Experience.

I know how to use the search but no thread proposed a viable way. If you root you can with spirit app with nougat but with Oreo I read that the spirit app does not work, so I there isn't a way to have an application in Oreo rooted or with Magisk and not have to do everyday the dialer stuff cause you have to do it every time you wanna listen to the radio.

No only if u flash a new rom

Here I come again seeking for your helpful opinion

Hello again guys.
I've decided to do the radio s-off thing and I obviously need your help and opinion.
And the question goes.. what radio version should I flash? And please, can you give me the link and installation instructions I must follow?
I know it's tiring and boring (again) but the search is so difficult in this forum. I mean there are so many replies that I get lost..
Thank you in advance.
Cheers !!!

There is no one, ideal radio currently I am using Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 , which works fine for me but your mileage may differ, before flashing the radio you are probably best to apply Radio S-OFF as this will preserve your ability to downgrade at a later date. May I suggest this thread as a starter it contains links to all the relevant tools and detailed instructions.
awesome.
thanks mate. that was a blazingly fast reply
will look into it tomorrow since i need to get some sleep. it's 3.18 here
thanks again mate
Cheers !!!
If there's any recommendations for the rom you're using, I'd go with that one first. To know which one works best you just have to try. Radios can be found here. Probably best to try the ones from this year. Here's the guide for the flashing process. Follow it exactly so you won't get any problems.
P.S. The search function isn't really that bad, you just have to know the right word. It also helps to use the "search titles only" in advanced search.

George,
As you're using ARHD 3.5, it would be wise to use the recommended radio from here:
http://xda.ckgaming.co.uk/db_mirror/Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2.zip
Also while you're at it, flash the mic fix from here:
http://www.androidrevolution.nl/ARHD/RevolutionRom/Froyo/click.php?id=32
Flash mic fix from recovery but flash the radio using this guide:
Download attached Radio flash.zip
Extract the folder to anywhere of your choice (MINE IS ON THE DESKTOP)
Open the flash folder
Download the radio you want to use from the links above .Then Drag and drop radio.img you have downloaded in to radio flash folder
In the folder double left click the START HERE a command prompt window will open
Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
The adb reboot bootloader will take the device directly to fastboot And I can confirm that this method works also with non Sense roms.
Once your phone has rebooted in to bootloader screen Type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
Once its done type fastboot reboot
All done
Awesome. Did the Mic patch even though noone made any complains to me about the voice.
After work am gonna do the radio thing.
Thanks a lot guys.
Cheers !!!

ok. got back home and need to flash a new radio.
but from the list with different radio files and versions that Hawks556 gave me the link to, i can see that the "recommended" radio for the revolution 3.5 is TELUS.
i know that i know jack about android (that's why i always come crying to mama.... eeerm, i mean you guys) but is this ok?
my phone is unbranded. i bought it as it is. by flashing this radio will i have a problem?
(and to tell you the truth, it seems like it's not so easy..... gee, i hope am lucky)
Cheers !!!

You shouldn't have a problem flashing any of the radio's form the radio thread and even if you did, as long as you are radio s-off you can always revert your radio, for painless flashing of radio, and recovery for that matter, I use QtADB which makes it fairly painless, but if your not comfortable flashing a new radio and your current one is working alright just leave it as is.
no, don't tell me.... please....
i don't have to revert to 1.32, do i?........................
the message i get is "failed (remote not allowed)"
Cheers !!!
Just run my ENG S-OFF tool (link in signature). Remember to tick the "I have radio s-off" -box. You do not need to change ROM, any ROM will work. Then after doing ENG S-OFF, try to flash a radio again.
well, i was thinking that after doing the whole thing i would come here saying "hey guys. anyone wants to build a new house? i have a brick to give" but all is well
done it, went fine. the error was because i didn't tick the "i have s-off"
ticked it, done the process and did the new radio thingy.
thank you so much guys.
Cheers !!!
U can update radios to the latest...as it makes a big diff in reception..wifi. Fm and stuff.. Just as a android is os for your phone... Radio is kinda os for those aswell

I know what you mean. It's like the BIOS on a m/board.
I get the picture. The thing is that I've read than quite a few people have problems like reception and sound (when talking on the phone) by flashing a new radio.
The best would be a list of the different radios along with their pros and cons. Tried to find something like this but was unsuccessful. But will continue looking...
Thanks anyway for the clarification mate

If you ever have issues with a Radio you just flash another or one which the majority have no problems with. Here's the Radio thread.

Atrix RADIOS

Hey guys!
I noticed that some of you were having difficulty upgrading/downgrading radios, so I make a thread about radios. I will also post the instructions on how to flash them.
At different firmware and different radio devices produce different effects, therefore, to achieve the required parameters (signal level, power consumption is to try different radio firmware. Flashed the radio at any time on any firmware.
Radio have a regional dependence is not important which method to sew through RSD CWM or fastbut, you still need to put the radio in your area, just not someone else's proshetsya. Radio for AT&T , all the other radio for the rest of.
When you install some firmware on your radio may not display the signal level, this is not anything terrible, the battery will not sit down quickly.

Sorry, but would have made more sense to get everything you needed before creating this thread, and actually have all the radio info posted. Thread is pointless until you have done what you say you are doing, is a waste of time for people who will now visit it, and the thanks you are receiving are pointless also, because all you have done is post that you intend to do something!
For a start maybe you can post procedure to extract radio.img from sbf

Well, point to a topic which has all the versions of the radio?
You intention may be good, but making a thread to point towards another thread is pointless... until you get your thread done, open it. These kinda "coming soon" threads are pretty useless.

OP your intention was good thank you for doing this. But as others have said, just make sure to not post something until you have all your links and information set. And also, keep in mind we try and keep the clutter to a minimum so don't create a thread unless there actually isn't one related to what you're searching for or looking to do.

Hey guys , I am new to this forum i want to install Invicta os on my phone as many people suggested this rom. I am confused between normal version & Hal3 version ,which one less buggy & smooth.
Also invicta rom thread has been closed ,it was mentioned there 4.15 (17/11) is the final build but when i go to the download section on sourceforce.net there is new version listed 4.16 (16/12) with both normal & hal3 version available for download.
what to do guys ????

Difference you'll find here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...-cyanogenmod-14-1-alpha-t3492274/post74554594
Since Silesh.Nair stated that he discontinued work there will be no other versions. Maybe it was uploaded by another one but the project is over. So no new versions.

If you read it they are both the same except for the camera api which is meant by the hal3. The difference is therefore only the camera quality as stated.

That's already a simple answer, there in no other difference.
hal3 means picture quality will be better but will require reboot for chop-chop to work.
Normal means picture quality will be less than hal3, but here chop-chop gestures work fine...
There is no other difference in terms of battery/stability/tweaks/anything...
Got it now ? Then read XDA rules, that says search before asking, it's answered many times..
thanks 2 both of you now its clear

If on 4.15, and running 'check for updates', you'll get a notification that 4.16 is available.
I think it still was created by Silesh (only he has the sources to do so, afaik), and contains Dec 5, 2017 security updates.
However, it was created after he left, so it is somehow a 'blind' install.
I'm running on 4.16 since a few weeks, it seems to be ok.
