NEW Update Coming (47.1.A.12.119) - Sony Xperia XZ Premium Guides, News, & Discussion

checked Xpericheck ...
until now only customized US got the update
and few hours or minutes later it will be release for more regions

Nothing special about it from what I've heard. Only the March security patch. Waiting for the XZ2 goodies on our phones.

We will get selfie 3D scan. There is a new version on Apkmirror and on the tutorial for the 3d selfie scan the featured phone that performs the face scan is a Luminous Chrome XZP.

i already install new version of 3d scan with selfie
this isn't a feature that only our phone can give it
other phones like XZ and Z5 and ... already can using 3d scan app

Any chance this will fix the Bluetooth issues? Lol

Today unlocked bootloader can update?

Got the notification today when starting the phone, maybe it'll change some icons (to match the XZ2), Sony is a lot into that during the last few weeks I noticed, refreshing some apps interface.

Is it me or did they improve scrolling smoothness? There is no stuttering now when scrolling. And now I tried playing the Sony 4K HDR umbrella and camp videos and both are running smoothly again!

I cannot make calls when selecting 4G cellular only after this update. I had to switch to 4G preferred (3g/2g) to make calls. This update screwed something up.

You really can't make calls when on 4g only. You'd need VoLTE for that.

It was never an issue prior to this. Are you suggesting that Sony patched things up?

What's 4G cellular only? Is it region specific? I only have 4G (preferred)/3G/2G on mine.

Anybody tried to root this firmware (12.119) with xperifix ??? thanks guys

I was having small stutters when I was scrolling on Twitter or Chrome and HDR videos were also stuttering and it's fixed. I didn't perform a factory reset or software repair.

Not really sure. Perhaps that could be the case. You could try a factory reset, or better yet, ask your carrier/place you bought it.

It's a preferred network type. You can select it under mobile network settings. Basically you force your phone to be always on 4g. To my knowledge, you need VoLTE to take/make calls using the 4g network.

Yeah, I meant that I don't have a 4G only option in my network type selection. The only 4G related option I have is "4G (preferred)/3G/2G".

update

Randomly checked and there's an update out!
Yup it enables advanced calling (hd and video) , voLTE, and when you silence or on vibrate phone the boot up droid sound doesn't come up.
Besides VoLTE, has it done anything else?
Fix the data leak?

It also seemed to have fixed the shutter on back camera (front camera still lags a lot) also battery drain standby has been fixed, last of all the boot up sound is muted when phone on standby or vibrate
I personally haven't noticed any difference in the camera shutter.. With or without HDR on.. But I never noticed being slow to start with..
Does the update break Google voice?
Shutter lag was bad for me and this update definitely sped it up.

Official USA firmware appears for Z5 E6603

Just want to let you guys know that today, Sony has uploaded the official firmware for the USA version for the E6603 device. It's version 32.0.A.6.209 with a region tag of R4B. It's listed as Customized US (unbranded). This is the first time the firmware is released for a non dual Z5 device. The CDA is 1300-4290.
I'm guessing this firmware is still lollipop and not marshmallow, right?
Quick question, if I switch firmwares, would I lose my DRM keys? I have locked bootloader still and don't want to lose them. I do want to switch firmwares to US or Canada so I have a local baseband. The signal is not the best and I'm pretty sure switching firmwares will definitely help with that.
You only lose DRM keys when you unlock bootloader.
Is it 5.1.1 still?? what changes or fixes does it have??

Offcourse there's noise when zooming, that's the way digital zoom works.
If you take two pictures in a tripod stand, one zoomed and one not zoomed you can cut the not zoomed image to the same size and have two exact same images. Digital zoom is worthless, it is the exact same thing as zooming in on a pic in the gallery.

Fingerprint stop working with this update? Really has no fingerprint in US devices?
I've tried this (.209) firmware, it does remove the fingerprint option.
Was forced to go back to the older firmware to get it back ;D

lolol, does that mean the US devices only have it disabled in software? Seems likely, I didn't think they'd start a new production line just to remove the fingerprint reader.
Did you notice any change in signal though?

You need someone who got the phone to try flashing the phone with other firmware, that way you know forsure if they removed the hardware.
I think when on 8th of February someane buys officiall US variant, and if Fingerprint doesnt work, someone will just try to flash other versions, for example CE1 or other, to see if it'll work. Might be.

MMS pictures pixels

I have been scrolling through looking for answers, I have a s7 on att fully stocked. When I send a pic through the default app or a 3nd party ( exp: chomp, hangouts) about 2 out of 10 pics come out looking chopped in half and messed up on the receivers end. I have noticed this with people on multiple carriers and a range of different model phones receiving the pics.
Any answers? I have already hard reset it and problem continues...

I know, I have done resets, different messenger apps and other things testing. I'm pretty advanced with android but even this I come up short with. I wish someone had a answer. Is your wife on att also? Does she have the new wifi calling enabled? If so sms goes out over wifi not just calls. I have noticed it with and with out wifi calling enabled. I just want to find a common variable between them. :silly:

Verizon wear24 any way to unlock for use with other carrier?

I just picked up a Verizon Wear24 for cheap. I'm a Project Fi user and would like to get rid of the verizon crap on the watch and link it more completely to my phone. I'm new to Android Wear but not to android. Is there a way to unlock AW and flash a more stock ROM?

The SIM actually comes out in this if you take it apart enough. You can replace with any SIM of your choosing. The real problem is that the phone is limited on bands as it is just LTE band 13. Let's say you succeeded in adding bands, you would still have an issue entering APN settings as this menu is restricted.
Without root you cannot add any bands. i did this with my tmobile lg g3 back in the day. while complicated it did work.
Has anyone rooted this watch?
Adding bands to qualcomm you must patch rmt-storage or any modifications to the bands will revert
then you have to enable APN menu as adding new APN is disabled on this firmware.
Since this watch was available at $80, a lot of people jump in to get one. Hopefully with time we get more developers to be involve. I'm looking to replace the bands. As of now I don't care about LATE. But I wish we can enable NFC for Android pay

Would be nice to have separate forum for this model
Ordered mine for $80 and received it today. It would be nice to see the developers work some magic on this thing. Don't like the fact its stuck on Verizon and all the Verizon bloat on it. I can live without LTE but would love to see the Verizon SMS app and stuff go.

For now you can just disable the Message+ app in System apps. Also disable the cellular radio.
Interesting approach, wonder if you can still send and receive texts with Message+ disabled?

Bt is phone audio. I'll do a reset see if that helps. Hope so because it is a nice watch. Maybe we will get stock wear it soon and have the full potential unlocked.
Tried the reset but no change. Everything seems to work except the mic. Google assist also does not work for texting with ok google. Watch is solid tho.

T-mobile ATE6 update really helped with autofocus issues! Check it out

So we all know the s20 series has had problems with auto focus especially in the ultra that one was really jacked up. I have the regular galaxy s20 and also have autofocus problems. I have done numerous things to try to make it better I even did a full reset which I normally never do because I would just clear cache and data of said app and it would clear things up. but not this time autofocus was hit or miss for sure and problematic. And for a $1,000 device this Just is not right and don't cut it for me... shoot my old one plus seven pro had better autofocus! and that thing was like 600 bucks. Anyway I am pleased to say that with this new update it is pretty much 100% autofocus is much faster, actually really fast. and 10 out of 10 for me focused instantly. hopefully I don't get in trouble for this if I have to take it down mods just let me know.

Auto update hasn't hit the US. Maybe we'll see it combined with a June security
update soon.
Edit: I see it is hitting T-mobile and other US carriers this morning, but still with May security patch. US unlocked got ATD1 at the beginning of the month, not sure if T-mobile ever got that one, or just skipped straight to ATE6.

This just came in, installing now, is very fast, the fingerprint is very fast, this update size is 462 mb For the S20 Ultra on T Mobile G988U
Definitely noticing better auto focus after the update.
Now I'm looking forward to Samsung's promised update to allow native gestures to be used on 3rd party launchers. Wish I weren't so anal about small quirks of the gestures that FNG has but the native gestures are the best IMO.
Man, I hate this. I'm on an unlocked s20 ultra and tmobile somehow pushed it out before Samsung does.
Yep def improved some things with this update....things i have found are the auto focus is blazing fast now and seems like fingerprint is a tad quicker....also idk if its me or what but sound seems to have improved coming out of the speakers for sure

Type this in adb connected to s20 ultra while on home screen. I use nova launcher and native gesture at the same time. You'll have to do it again if you change the navigation type in settings or if you restart the device.

At least for the Ultra, an easy way to know they aren't the same: the current ATD1 software on the unlocked phone doesn't have the new macro prompt. ATD1 has been out for a month, the new improvements in ATE6 just surfaced in the past week. But ATD1 did roll out with the May security update already, I expect unlocked will get the improvements of ATE6 with June security in a week or so.
