Z17S (NX595J) Unlock Bootloader & TWRP - ZTE Nubia Z17 Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm new to this phone. Just got it 1 week ago. I tried to find any related information on the bootloader unlock and custom recovery, but it is very limited. I think maybe this phone is not well known. I would appreciate if someone can provide me the way to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and roots. I can't live without magisk and viper4android. Thanks.

Here ya go,
1. Download and install minimal fastboot adb
2.Download TWRP rename it Recovery and move it to minimal fastboot adb folder
3. Unlock bootloader, in fastboot enter the following code : fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX595J
4. then also in fastboot: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5. you may need to format data in TWRP to get it to boot up !
Enjoy your new life !

thanks

Hi, I've tried numerous timed and it always won't pick up the command of unlocking bootloader. It always stay in the fastboot menu. I've toggled the 'OEM Unlock' function in the developer setting, as well as the USB debugging. Any idea why the device won't pick up that command?

Is it changing to unlock after you enter the command?
If so flash twrp then boot into recovery ...

Nope. It doesn't respond to the command in the fastboot. It just shows the fastboot menu. My adb is written 'waiting for device.... '.

I'm having the problem. Unlock is not sticking to unlock. The unlock works and the flash works but as soon as you try and reboot into recovery it hangs at a blank screen no twrp. Console says waiting for device and stuck. next time I go into bootloader it says locked. The count is 3 for unlock count is there a limit? 7-6-18 Nubia Z17 NX591J WIn 10.

I don't understand? Appears not locked? It is locked. Now I remember when I flashed my Star N997 the developer said that there is a unlock bit that has to be turned on in the process of unlocking. I think this may be the case here since it unlocks until a reboot. I am deep concerned that after a unlock count of 3 the phone will not boot anymore. Do you know anything about these things? Another thought is does the USB C need different drivers and should it be plugged into a USB 3.0 outlet?

TWRP will flash only when it's unlocked so even if it's saying it's locked go by what you can do with TWRP

I did it several times and never had a problem

i was looking for camera.apk file from Nubia Z17S phone from Stock ROM, can anyone upload it here..it should be located in system / app or app-pvt folder, you can copy using Root Explorer tool.
pls. let me know...

I'm having problems unlocking the bootloader. Has anyone got the proper TWRP for this phone? I can't find it. The one I have says FAILED (remote: Requested download size is more than max allowed). Thanks

hello links no longer works. Someone could give me back the TWRP and minimalb fastboot adb

For anyone's information, TWRP will not boot in recovery while the phone is being charged. Unplug first. You will just get a black screen.

i am also experiencing the same issue.. where can i find the drivers for this phone nx595j? or how do i uninstall the drivers for it?

Going back to Sense from [RUU] Google Edition Conversion.Graffixync UPDATE 12th May

EDIT - UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS 12th May 2014
Due to the partition sizes being different in the GPE RUU it is not simply a case of flashing a sense rom in recovery. You will experience problems if you do this. This might involve getting the storage encrption message, bootloops, freezing etc etc.
This thread is specifically for users who have problems getting back to sense. Solution is below. If you have alternative solutions that have worked without issues please post.
I have tried to make them as simple as possible. This guide assumes you are S-Off otherwise how did you get here. (
This does not apply if you have installed a GPE ROM. You can flash as normal through recovery. (using instructions of new rom)
Thanks to @exad for his continuing support/assistance throughout the thread, as well as @graffixnyc for the GPE RUU and both he and @navalynt for finding the initial fixes.
It will be much easier if you have your new Rom on your external sdcard prior to starting this. It will also stop a number of problems if you have SuperCID (11111111) If you don't know how to - FASTBOOT Commands
1. Enter the command "fastboot oem readcid". Make and KEEP a note of your original CID.
2. Enter the command "fastboot oem writecid 11111111"
3. Enter the command "fastboot read cid" [it should confirm your CID is 11111111]
4. Press the volume down button twice on your phone and navigate to reboot bootloader, then hit power button to reboot the bootloader.
5. Bootloader will also say "CID-11111111" now to confirm (Thanks to @xl VipeR lx ) Also to @umjammerlammy for the GENTLE reminders to include this
Make sure the firmware file and twrp recovery are in your Android directory on your PC - Mine is
C:\Users\Grentuu\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\
During this process you may find that when you reboot the phone starts to boot into android. Mine did but simply had the GPE animated logo but never entered GPE. All you do is press Vol up and power for about 10 seconds to reset. As soon as it resets press vol down and power to get back to bootloader.
Flash 1.54.401.5 firmware from Here
Fastboot Method
Boot device into FASTBOOT mode either by adb reboot bootloader or Vol down & Power (device should show FASTBOOT USB)
Make sure the firmware file to be flashed is in your android folder
Open a command prompt from the folder where fastboot resides. (Hold shift key/right click in the dir to get menu - left click on Open Command Prompt here.)
Run the following commands:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this will reboot the device into RUU mode in preparation for zip flashing)
fastboot flash zip 1.54.401.5-W_Splash.zip (the name of the zip should EXACTLY match the name of the file you're flashing)
It will fail the first time. Run the same command AGAIN until you see it has flashed successfully.
I repeat - Run the same command TWICE until you see it has flashed successfully.
Once complete, type fastboot reboot-bootloader The hyphen is required.
Some users have stated this firmware (1.54.401.5) did not work for them as they weren't GSM and reboots just threw them back to recovery. If this happens try a stock (your original e.g. T-mobile) firmware then follow the rest of the process.
Boot into stock recovery
Factory reset
Reboot into bootloader
Flash TWRP - command = fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.2-m8.img (The must match exactly the name of the recovery you are flashing and remember the recovery file must be in your android folder)
Boot into TWRP
Go into Wipe menu
do a full factory reset wipe
Reboot back into recovery
Install rom
Profit
These have worked for me everytime (Change count =19)
Thanks for this. I'm about to give it a shot now.

To flash a firmware you must be in bootloader/fastboot mode.
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Fastboot flash zip firmwarefilename.zip
Then again
Fastboot flash zip firmwarefilename.zip
Fastboot reboot-bootloader

Thanks. Understood, I was just reviewing my steps for the conversion. I really just want to try out that new Sense rom and then I'll probably revert back. BRB...I'll let you know how it goes.
Bear in mind you must have S-off to flash a firmware that way.

Those are the instructions in post 1 the original thread.
The issue is with people wanting to go back to sense
This thread is about returning to sense. Flashing a firmware is always the same. It's the firmware itself that's different...
Here is where I am at..
I converted to GP easily and it worked well.. I wanted to convert back so I installed twrp first, then through twrp installed the 1.54.401.5 firmware.
Installing that firmware removed twrp and the rom. So I am without an OS at all, and have stock recovery.
Is there anyway I can flash a custom recovery or a rom via the stock firmware/recovery?
My computer will not recognize adb devices. But it used to obviously.
I have an SD card.
Any help and I will be sooo grateful. (maybe even donate)
Thanks!
You can't flash a firmware through recovery... You can flash a stock recovery after the steps listed above if you like. See the stock backup thread.
You can flash any recovery through fastboot... Adb only works with the rom booted or with custom recovery booted.
Thanks will try it out.

You flash recovery via fastboot, no need for a rom.
Just make sure you have the proper fastboot drivers from htc.

I would recommend the All-In-One Toolkit. This will allow you to fastboot the recovery, even though the pc doesn't recognize it. This has worked for me in the past.
Meanwhile, I get the following error message when attempting to flash the 1.54...
Any suggestions guys???
Problem solved. I had not supercid. After I did that, I was able to successfully flash 1.54...
Why post steps if your not willing to help?
The steps in the OP can still cause issues for some people.

When you open the all in one...the 3rd option on the top right is what you need. Follow the step, even if fastboot says device is not connected, this will still send the recovery to your device as long as you're in the bootloader.
I will never understand why people play with there phones and have no understanding of adb and fastboot commands with the bootloader. if people would learn that first there wouldn't be so many threads when they get stuck. tool kits are bad it makes people lazy. but I appreciate the devs who make them

How to uninstall CWM from Huawei P8, B200, rolled back from MM

I have GRA-L09, B200, Europe Open

To get an unlocked bootloader you must go to settings> about phone> build number
and then press build number 7 times
after you did that exit out of about phone then click on the newly-appeared 'developer settings'
there you should find OEM Unlocking and Enable USB Debugging
You'll get it from there.
I have the Dev Ops, but don't have OEM unlock.
But shouldn't you already have an unlocked bootloader to have DevOps?
Don't know. I don't typed any code in to unlock bootloader.
Are you sure you have DevOps?

And also try to do it not with buttons, but with your computer
I don't know the script for how to boot into recovery mode but to fastboot, for example, you'd type in >fastboot
when your phone is connected to your PC via USB.
Y'know, just search up 'How to use Recovery Mode' - maybe you just did it wrong
Didn't tryed it w/ adb yet.
ADB didn't worked. I'm trying a full hard reset..

That means you have a locked bootloader, so CWM didn't install successfully.
In other words, you need to unlock the bootloader first in order to successfully install CWM.
So, 1st step - visit the Huawei unlocking code request page, taking your time to fill in the form accurately & submit it.
[Btw, if you don't already have a Huawei ID, you can register for one here: http://www-file.huawei.com/en/my-huawei/register
Then use these login details in the above link to request for the unlock code]
2nd step: Once you receive the unlock code from them, use it to unlock the bootloader by issuing the following command in fastboot mode [the asterisks (*) represent your 16-digit unlock code]:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock ****************
Now you can attempt to install CWM. Where are you getting the CWM img file from?

Ok, so it appears you may have corrupted the recovery partition.
Is the phone otherwise booting into the system & functioning normally?
Also, can you tell us what you are wanting to ultimately achieve by installing CWM?
Just to confirm the bootloader is unlocked, run this command in fastboot mode & let us know the result:
Code:
fastboot oem get-bootinfo

As the guys already said, you do not need to install anything in order to update an official rom.
So, let's leave out CWM, bootloaders, etc for now, & help you update only from B200.
When you try using TopperBG's method to update, what happens?
What is your current FULL firmware version? It will be in this format: GRA-L09CxxxB200 - if everything else is as I've mentioned, I'm interested in the Cxxx part.

2. Then you can use the dload method to update.
3. You can flash TWRP after that because no-one uses CWM.

Need help, bricked my 3s

Was supposed to flash CM13 Rom. I did a full wipe including system via TWRP.
Before flashing I decided to reboot into recovery, but it didn't. Only gets stuck in the MI logo now. Can't boot into recovery anymore.
I can go into Fastboot mode. Tried flashing twrp via ADB but whenever i type 'adb devices' in command prompt it says device is offline.
Tried to enter EDL via ADB in fastboot mode, it gets stuck at 'waiting for device'.
When plugged in PC, it gets detected as USB ADB interface
Bootloader was unlocked prior, was on xioami.eu ROM before this. I have TWRP system backup of last ROM installed.
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction on what to do next. Very much appreciated, thank you.

Was able to unlock bootloader again, but I still can't access recovery. I may have forgotten how to exactly do this since the last time I did it. What do i have to do after unlocking bootloader? I tried flashing TWRP via fastboot but it only gives me an error.
So you have a few options
1. Hold volume+ & - and power (if you have twrp)
2. Take fedosis twrp 3.1 and installer, put twrp 3.1 into extracted installer folder, then shift+right click on installer folder, open cmd, then type
fastboot flash recovery twrp_name.img
fastboot boot twrp_name.img (or do step 1)
3. Just flash dev/stable with miflash (recommendation: go into fastboot, then like step 2 go into cmd and type fastboot oem edl then flash mi rom)
Hope this helps

Moto g4 plus recovery boot loop...

Hi guys. Few days ago I unlocked the bootloader of my Moto G4 plus, install twrp recovery and root the phone. Then I made the mistake of trying to install an update from OTA and since that day it is impossible to start the phone normally. It always starts in recovery mode, then I must go to restart to start in fastboot mode and next, select start to be able to use it. I reinstall the latest version of the recovery twrp and the ROM of LineageOS but nothing changes. Can someone tell me if there is any console command I can execute in the phone to start normally?
Thanks for your time...

I whant to start in Android directly... I whant (if exists) any console command or any solution to fix the boot problem.

( after that you need to follow according steps in your phone and grant to unlock phone)
keep in mind this will reset your phone. Afteer reboot again turn on developer options and usb debugging
5) fastboot flashing unlock_critical
( the warning and steps you need to follow again in your phone like in step 4)
this will again reset your phone.Afteer reboot again turn on developer options and usb debugging
Congratulations your bootloader is Unlocked now.
STEP 2. Flashing TWRP and Magisk Install
before that keep in mind As Mi A2 follows A/B boot partition system so DONT DIRECT FLASH TWRP FROM
FASTBOOT.
" Dont forget to turn on developer options and usb debugging "
open command window in adb shell folder and boot your phone in bootloader mode as told earlier and connect to computer.
Copy twrp-3.3.0-0-jasmine_sprout.img to minimal adb and fastboot folder. you can rename it to your convenient name
type : 1) fastboot boot twrp-3.3.0-0-jasmine_sprout.img
or if you renamed it
fastboot boot YourRenameName.img
this will temporarily boot twrp in your Device. As twrp is booted you will be able to see your phone connected in computer
(file transfer mode)
Copy and paste both magiskmanager.zip (current latest stable is 19.2 ) into phone
Flash your downloaded version of Magiskmanager.zip
Reboot your Phone.
Congratulations If nothing goes sideways Your phone is Magisk Rooted.
If you want to flash something using TWRP now is the time Otherwise as Mi A2 has A/B slot form and no Recovery Partition You Cannot flash TWRP permanently.
But You can always boot TWRP from adb and use it.

You May be facing some highly lag issues too. In that case flash stock rom using mi flash tool. In my steps i said that flash twrp.zip file after booting it. But flashing twrp.zip doesnt do anything. if you want to use TWRP you need to boot TWRP everytime from adb.
Also After flashing stock rom i am pretty sure that you will be able to flash custom rom.
follow this guide for flashing custom ROMs

I was on stock pie + may update (10.0.9)
Follow this way , unlock the bootloader via fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flashing unlock it will reboot here, goto developer settings Enable usb debugging
Then do this fastboot flashing unlock_critical It will again reboot
Now, install the magisk app And download the patched boot image from internet Whatever your build no is, mine was 10.0.9 so i downloaded version 10.0.9_boot.img
Open the magisk app, click on install , select and patch a file, Then choose this downloaded patched image, it will flash it successfully, if it don't Then you have mistaken something..
After this there will be a patched.img in download folder Which is just created by magisk, copy this img to pc, Through fastboot Flash it "fastboot boot patched.img"
Now, flash TwrpImage3.3.img through fastboot
When you boot in , Copy and paste your rom, gapps
Now flash twrpVersion3.2.img via fastboot
Clear system, data, caches, Flash the rom in slot B
Now flash the twrp3.2.zip through installed twrp, click on recovery And it will boot to twrp
Now Flash the gapps in slot a (i used nano)
Now flash magisk.zip through twrp
Reboot , That's it!
(Twrp 3.2 is stable for flashing rom and gapps , Just for first time When we coming from stock
Twrp 3.3 latest Gives us MTP transfer, The difference is this in using both of these)
Installation of magisk is the last process, it is part of rom, First installed ur desired rom and then magisk
You said, You installed twrp, as i mentioned above You forgot to do some steps as about patched boot + installation of magisk through patched file etc..
Though you can try to search on google for your next step
patched supported magisk Version x.x.x for mi a2
If you got the file, You are lucky.. otherwise flash the stock rom with mi flash tool
And Start from unlocking bootloader
Magisk Module available.

There is a magisk module available for installing kali nethunter in this device. i never tried installing it but it should work fine. Read proper descriptions before installing it though.

Checklist:
- there is file of <compatible TWRP recovery> in ADB/Fastboot directory with the name you are typing in fastboot command
- ADB drivers installed correctly (both "adb devices -l" and "fastboot devices" return valid results in corresponding phone states)
- only one phone (namely MiA2) is connected to PC
- phone fully unlocked (OEM debugging enabled and PC was previously approved for ADB in phone)
- USB port on MB of PC is USB-2.x or USB-3.x-compatible-with-Mi-A2<which is not true in general>
Several guys says that command "fastboot oem unlock" is old and now we have to write "fastboot flashing unlock" instead, then "critical".
Which is the best way now?
Thank you
