Nougat and OTG Charge on Tilapia?! - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I want to convert my 2012 Nexus 7 into a head unit for my car, first I fond the following rom (from the other posts i figured out that the included kernel would support otg charge) and did my first time rom install:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/development/rom-android-7-aosp-grouper-t3467514
everything worked flawless, but from testing I found out, that rom/kernel isn't supporting otg charge.
Is there any kernel out there for nougat (I would like to use nougat on this because the split screen feature is fantastic) which could work with this rom and would support otg charge for the tilapia?
Best regards
Timo

USB OTG with CM11 M3 - Is it possible?

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone managed to get CM11 running with USB OTG support? I admit that I'm fairly new to the custom ROM addiction, but as far as I understand the Franco.kernel, which theoretically includes USB OTG for the N4, is not compatible (yet) with CM11. Before I'll brick my phone any advise how to get this working is really appreciated!
Thanks and Cheers

Hello,
I have CM11 Snapshot M9 installed on my Nexus 4. I tried some OTG patches, but none of them work. (If I install them, The settings app crashes when starting it and I can't connect to any wifi-networks.)
Is there any possibility to use OTG on a Nexus 4 with CM11 M9?

[Q] how to fast charge with timur's?

I am a total noob with this rom/kernel flashing stuff but I managed to get timur's kernel installed yet am still getting only usb charging via my Y cable.
Do I need that usb rom too, or does timurs alone offer fast charging somehow? Or is that rom already part of what I installed, with timurs?
I dont see the slew of new menu options I came across a pic of (with usb rom).
Looked all over the web, but no answer. Sorry I am so confused and unclear.
My kernel version says:
3.1.10-gba06546-dirty
Timur-USB-host [email protected]#24
I am using the timur's version for 4.2.2 android.
Thanks for any help, really want to speed this charging up!

[Q]Advice for Nexus 7 grouper fastcharge

Hi all,
my gf has a Nexus 7 wifi 2012 (i think grouper), update to Lollipop 5.0.2 and it has 2 issues:
lollipop is too slow on this device
slow charge issue
For the first problem I thought to root with cf-auto-root and install a rom, I thought about a cyanogen? I don't really care if it's android 4 or 5 the important is that the rom is fast! am I correct?
For the second problem I read a lot and after try to change cable, and charger I thought that the only way to solve this is to change the usb connector...but! Today I read here that someone soveld with a kernel that support the fastcharge feature.
How does this fastcharge works? can you advice me a good rom with this kernel? or if I can install a stable CM è this kernel? and how to activate it?
Thank you a lot in advace guy I will really appreciate your help
The kernel fast charging feature some people are talking about only applies to charging from USB (pulling more than 500mA from USB ports that support it). It doesn't have any effect when you are charging from a power adapter.

Kernel or ROM with simultaneous OTG plus charging

I'm looking to install my Nexus 7 in my car. However, I can't seem to find a recent kernel or ROM with simultaneous OTG and charging support. I have only found Timur's USB rom (but no download links). What kernel or ROM does support this, preferably MM or N?

[SM-P600] What ROM are you guys using, suggestions?

I'm trying to use my tablet more, which I haven't because it gets hot in the back and the charger is slow to charge the battery... I thought of seeing if there's a decent alternative ROM.
Currently I'm on LOS 14.1 (2018-12-23) - any suggestions?

Charging is fast as long as you use the original charging adapter...
On the deathly build you can set the charging current with the included app "Deathly Auditor" (customized Kernel Auditor).
it drains the battery very fast! is there another better Rom that you recommend?
Here is a highly regarded custom ROM for the Note 10.1 2014: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...om-resurrection-remix-n-sm-p600-wifi-t3606313
I been flashing my sm-600 wifi for 5 years now, here is what I experienced. I have tried all roms for my device and it seems no custom rom charges as fast as the lastest stock roms even though it's 5.1. the nougat roms and the couple marshmallow roms all charge very slowly. I have tried different cables and chargers and even a new battery only to find out that it was the roms. I used Accu battery to finally figure that out. So stick with stock, all apps and Samsung browser work just fine and it will charge in half the time with a 2.0 charger. I also removed all Google apps and download and upgrade my apps though apkmirror and all work just fine with stock rom, I hope this helps.

There’s LineageOS 14.1, 17.1, and 18.1, all available in the device forums.
My SM-P600 is currently running an old version of LOS (14.1-20200411). It seems stable, but I'm wondering if it's still worth an update - would I likely see any improvement? Or, am I better sticking with the old; if it ain't broke, don't fix it?
What would be the most stable rom and build? Looking through the Dev threads, it looks like some of the LOS 18.1 aren't too stable, but I'd rather stability and battery life over more recent Android.

Hi, can I have this link too?
Is this the official stock ROM here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-for-official-firmware-5-1-1-sm-p605.3235912/
Thanks
In 2023, if someone is still using this tablet like me, I recommend the Android 10 version. It works best when very few apps are installed and can run most apps in the playstore.

Hey body, how were you able to install the android 10 in this piece of art of tablet. I'm still using it and it´s amaze. But I'm using the 7.1 .
I've been using LineageOS 14 for a while, and it has pros and cons:
Pros: better battery performance, Android 11 with updated features and apk versions, no more forced to keep installed ****ty OEM's software.
Cons: at least 1 random crash per day, S-Pen didn't work as smooth as with the original firmware (probably due to some Samsung S-Pen framework), I only managed to take notes on PDFs buying Squid (no Write on PDF available) and palm rejection didn't work anyway.
Since last Sunday (June 11th) WiFi and Home button had stopped working, so I decided to go back to the official 5.1.1 firmware. Now everything works again, and I can again edit PDFs with S-Pen and its palm rejection (which I missed so much).
I will continue using 5.1.1 unless somebody can guarantee that there is any Lineage build in which S-Pen works with as much quality as in the official firmware.
