Can I use this download to downgrade from N950USQU2CQL7 (Oreo) back to 7.1.1? The boot loader is 2 going to 3. Will this break my future OWA updates from ATT?
Thanks for any help, because I'm confused.

Yes, you can use this and flash back to Nougat.
Yes, this is bootloader version 3, so you won't be able to flash back to any previous build in bootloader version 2.
No, it won't break any future OTA updates. If you do experience any problems with OTA updates, I do have them available to flash manually, if needed.

I installed it and as soon as it booted (and I got through all of the setup), it said there was an OTA update. I installed it and now I'm back to a functional phone with the latest OTA update!
Thank you!

You mean the link isn't working for you?

No, I dont think so. I've tried to download it 20 times already. First time I downloaded, it says download finished. Then when i went to unzip it, there was 5 files and I got some sort of error unzipping on 2 of the 5 files. So I downloaded it again, this time I only got 2 of the 5 files with another error. Redownloaded, got 5 files, error unzipping. Tried different download managers, different browsers.... I'm lost......

Hmm, weird. No one else encountered this problem. I'm going to have to upload a new file link.

I am a Noob in odin. So do I just flash those files BL CSC ETC Into odin and thats it? I know how it works .. but I do not know which files to flash. I am in AT&T Note 8.

Make sure your phone is in download mode. I'm about to give this a go when I get home tonight. There are lots of little things about Oreo that I don't like.
Should be flashing all files that match up with the slots in Odin. I don't think the HomeCSC is absolutely needed (I believe it preserves your data, not sure). I've never used it before. Just know this will erase everything on your device.

My phone is currently bricked, or at least I believe so. It was bricked before and I flashed a different firmware, and after I had it working I upgraded all the updates through the phone to Oreo, from Nougat 7.1.1, and then tried to root it which was stupid on my part, now the firmware that un-bricked my phone won't flash again and it stops after it says xbl.elf. Also on my phone after it fails it says something about SW Rew 3 > binary 2 or something along those lines. I believe this is happening because the firmware I am trying to flash that worked before is now older or something, and right now I am downloading this firmware to try it out.
I have tried flashing this onto the phone, the first time everything went fine, but then when the android came up it said Error..., then it just goes to the charging circle but it doesn't show what my battery is at, and also what I have noticed is my phone will not go into download mode or do anything unless it's plugged in, I have no idea what to do as of right now.

Had a couple of scares but it worked fine.
1. After selecting the files in Odin, it took a while for a couple of the files to populate into the slot. Wasn't expecting it to take so long to analyze the files.
2. After it finished, there was a pause at 32% on the phone saying there was an error. After a minute or so it rebooted.
3. When it rebooted it went to a screen saying the phone was encrypted and to enter my password. I had never encrypted the phone, plus, I had done a complete factory reset before flashing in Odin.
The solution to fix this was to power off, boot to recovery, factory reset and clear cache. It booted up fine after that.
Now I'm back to what I wanted. I had purchased Package Disabler a while back so I first installed that and disabled software update so it won't upgrade to Oreo.

No. Read my last sentence in my last post. I did all this so I could go back to Nougat and stay there by disabling the software update. I did not like Oreo. I didn't like the way notifications were changed for Oreo. Badges were tied to status bar notifications, unlike Nougat.
Plus, my phone didn't feel as smooth in Oreo and my battery life was worse.
I'm staying on Nougat for a while.

I will propablu upgrade to android P.
If it gets a major design change.
Is Ui in Oreo almost the same as noughat?
By the way is your Phone Unlocked?

My phone is not unlocked. The UI in Nougat and Oreo are very much the same. There are some features that are different to each one.
I don't see how you can upgrade to Android P. Oreo for Samsung was just released back in March. Unless there's something I don't know, P won't be released for this phone for quite a while. But I hope I'm wrong about that.

[Q] Verizon Note 3 OTA update fails - Help Please!

Verizon - Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - White
I have been trying to update the the latest OTA firmware update, but I am having troubles. I am sorry if this is a repeat post or this has already been solved, I did do a pretty extensive search for my problem before I made this post.
MI9 to MJ7
Status: Update failed
Code: 404
I have included 2 screenshots below with the problem I am having. I am not currently rooted, I did not trigger Knox, and it is still not working after the third factory data reset.
Does anyone out there have any ideas as to why this is broken and what I can do to fix it?
When you plug your phone into a computer, a folder pops up with some folders and some files. One of the files is a program from Verizon. I do not recall the name at the moment. But if you double click on it, it will install a program on your computer that will help you install firmware through your computer. Try updating with that. Just follow the prompts. And let us know if updates you to the current firmware, or if you're still having problems.
♢NoteIII♢
Since you are not rooted download Kies 3. It's a Samsung utility. Download it and install it on your computer and that should get you on the latest and greatest. I did it on my windows pc with both updates. Current being MJE.
Then if you want to root later you can with Kingo app.

Oh my fault LeftyGR I meant to quote his post. I think we were replying about the same times there.
Thanks and Update
I tried forcing the update through the pc using the Verizon Wireless software, and had no luck. It fails at 66% exactly when my phone switches to ODIN Mode and says Downloading... - Did not trigger KNOX - 0x0 in both rows.
My next step is to try Samsung Kies3 and see my luck with it. I will post an update with the results.
I want to thank everyone for the information. I had not heard of Kies did see Odin mentioned but it looks a little involved.
Credentials and Thoughts:
I have some experience with root and custom roms from Droid 1, Droid 3. I rooted my Note 3 in October 2013, so I may have missed the first OTA update that was so minor, it didn't get a build number. I have a feeling that my problem is that I am trying to go from update 0 to update 2 while skipping minor update 1. With no build number, I don't know how to tell if that is the problem. Is there a stock rom I could install, that has the newest update? I already backed up everything and wiped so, it doesn't hurt to go one step further.
Thanks again.

OP, were you able to update through Kies? If that doesn't work, I would recommend backing up what you can (search for a no-root backup solution, or use the one built into Kies), and factory reset, then attempt the update. If you back up your stuff through Kies, the only thing you'll lose is apps, I believe, but Kies might even back that up for you as well.
I'm having similar problems myself. Update fails through the OTA, Kies, as well as the Verizon Update Assistant... Any ideas on how to update otherwise? I've flashed phones with ODIN before but i haven't found a good walk through with the Note3 or what order to flash everything in...

I've spoken to them a couple of times, both their Facebook page and their customer service indicated their won't be a move up to Marshmallow, very doubtful over a move to 5.1 even. Any more updates will be focussed with optimising the existing software, adding slight features for the EPD etc.
Sad but they are a small company, seems they can only focus on 1 model and a time.

New Update .
Still Lollipop 5.0, but brings some useful improvements and enhancements. I'll take it.
I hope, with the release of the Yota 3 and 2c, that the price of the YD201 falls down. They can't update neither Yota 1 and 2. I still got the first one, but just because I live in Brazil and got from a nice guy that agreed to sell and send his Yotaphone 1 to me from India.
Anyone inclined to sell your Yota2 please talk to me.

It's for the RU (russian) firmware, if you check the other threads there are methods to flash the previous version. I have been using it for a few iterations now, the new one worked as an OTA, even with TWRP (they added something to reflash the stock recovery, Yota noticing the significant root community using this phone in Russia at least).

I only believe it when it is real, but according to info from tech support, also the EU firmware will get an update this month...
BTW, lollipop isn't too bad, I switched back from marshmallow on my nexus 7 - too much battery drain. if Google could get it right the first time, you wouldn't need monthly bug fixes. not saying that an update for the yota isn't overdue...

Sorry what you mean with firmware and software version? Phone was running Kitkat 4.4.2 or 3 (now is bricked).
I cannot skip the checksum, no such option in my TWRP (2.8.5). There are others option about checksum on backup but no skipping during install.
I am rooted (and bootloader is unlocked) but I cannot install the RU version. Here I don't understand why you ask me if I am rooted: I can install from recovery or TWRP without root
I downloaded all RU versions and the last EU version from the ftp and I got the MD5 error with all, both Lollipop and KitKat.
Then I tried with Yota Flasher utility: I saw that for flash ROM it was seeking for "firmware" path, so I created "firmware" path and put there the ROM.
I started to flash and it took only some seconds... I understood immediately phone has gone bricked.. and so it is...
Then I tried to download the firmware through Yota Flasher: it arrived to 100% and got stuck in there...
I'm trying to redownload it and hope to flash the system, phone is here in downloading mode waiting...
Provide you my flash method, manually. Use the fastboot.exe in cmd, and type command line below
****************************************************************************
fastboot.exe flash aboot firmeare/emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot.exe flash boot firmware/boot.img
fastboot.exe flash -S 512M system firmware/system.img
fastboot.exe flash recovery firmware/recovery.img
fastboot.exe flash cache firmware/cache.img
fastboot.exe flash modem firmware/radio/NON-HLOS.bin (flash the radio)
fastboot.exe flash sbl1 firmeare/radio/sbl1.mbn
fastboot.exe flash rpm firmware/radio/rpm.mbn
fastboot.exe flash aboot firmware/emmc_appsboot.mbn (flash again, just do it.)
fastboot.exe flash userdata firmware/userdata.img (notice this is for the user data, including app data and SD)
fastboot.exe reboot (reboot and wait, about 20 min stuck on logo, it's ok.)
Thank you xingshi.
I'll try.
How long does the entire process take?

UPDATE
Via Yota Flasher I download succesfully the 4.4.3 and flashed the phone. Now it's back
I tried to download again the 5.0 EU but no way: arrives at 100% and stops. If I check file's dimension I see it is a couple of kbytes below the size of the other package I downloaded from web browser and in fact it's impossibile to open the zip.
I'll try to download other version of Lollipop through the Yota Flasher.

NEW UPDATE
I have 5.0!
After flashing and old version of 4.4.3 (my phone went with a 4.4.something branded Vodafone Italy, and they evidently don't give a fork about updates). With the 4.4.3 rev 1.0.51a I immediately received he update to 1.0.56a: I downloaded the 114MB, rebooted, and then got the update to 1.0.61a, around 63MB. I rebooted and then got finally the update to 5.0, 1GB
I have only one problem now: the device doesn't recognize when I'm looking at the ink screen, and power button powers on the amoled... Even unlocking through swiping from bottom to top doesn't work. Option is correctly set, I tried to uncheck, reboot, wipe cache and check the option again but it not working well yet. I open a thread for this...

Same here , have just bought the YOTA 2 too, Vod branded. I wanted to upgrade to to EU 1.60 (rom which seems to be pretty stable): Can I ask you if you have the 1.60 actually or the 1.9x (Russian one)?.
The bug you describe seems to be a real pain, do not want to risk.
Will appreciate any help.

I have the 1.60 EU.
You can make a NAND backup and then flash the newest firmware, trying maybe the 1.99 RU. Even if you flash the 1.60 EU, is not sure that you'll have my same problem, there's people who flashed without issues...

Just got n910t november n910tuvs2epk2 ota update in 60mb

Just got November ota update in 60mb i am just curious to know if it is gonna lock the bootloader.
UPDATE-/ BOOTLOADER STILL UNLOCKED I TESTED & DOWNGRADED TO 5.1.1 OK1 .
I just received it as well. I use my phone for work so it's encrypted but could you try to downgrade and let's us know what happened
Yes, you can still downgrade to 4.4.4 with the new update
This update should give me enough time to read the details of the update before it reboots my phone in the 25 seconds. At that point, we don't have the ability to "abort" or decline the agreement anyway.
Note 4 tmo, downloads the 60mb update, phone enters recovery mode then i get "update failed phone will recover the original configuration" .
I'm full stock, no root, no custom recovery no nothing. Anyone could help me?
I'd recommend you use the desktop version of ODIN with the latest FULL ROM to restore your device (without wiping) to the version before the OTA update. You can then try the update process again.

I encountered the same error last night. I held POWER + VOLUME DOWN to boot into Recovery mode, then I rebooted to System. My phone went through the app optimization process (you know, the screen that you'd see after wiping the Cache/Dalvik Cache).
I assumed that the update failed, but when I checked "About Device," I noticed that it now has the November 1, 2016 security patch (Baseband Version N910TUVS2EPK2).

Sadly mine didn't, as it gave the update failed it reboot normally without app optimization, checked about phone, no changes.
I gave up and updated through Smart Switch... althought the "dm-verification " error still present.

How do u update firmware through smart switch
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA-Developers mobile app

This update should give me enough time to read the details of the update before it reboots my phone in the 25 seconds. At that point, we don't have the ability to "abort" or decline the agreement anyway.

I noticed it said something about gear3 and RCS messaging system. Didn't have time to read the rest of the change log

I flashed the rom through odin, all good.
Still, dm-verification error hunts my phone when entering recovery.
Still no one has a solution to the dm error?

Well, I also used odin until now. The fact that you tell me there's no "working method " assures me that you made your searches like I did and found nothing.

It has a new bootloader which will block the ability to odin flash images from other carriers or the unlocked images on the US devices. So no more Verizon version using the unlocked firmware.
https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-note8-bootloader-odin/
Has anyone been able to pull a Verizon ODIN file for the Note 8 from SamFirm??? I can't get any SM-N950U file with a VZW region.
Im curious too. If I flash the BRA8 from the BRA5 (which I'm on) will I have network issues. I believe the BRA8 is for ATT/TMO no?
I can't decide if I should update at the risk of losing out on being able to try the Unlocked firmware for my phone. hmmm
I just tried to odin the BRA8 so that I could apply the Oreo update and it Odin'd fine but it got to 32 percent on the phone during reboot and gave me an error code. Tried to Odin again and the same result. Rebooted phone just fine though.
Update: decided to install the update.zip and it worked. Oreo works great.

It was from here. https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-galaxy-s8-note8-android-oreo-february-security-patches/
Only select BL, AP, CP. I did get an error during reboot but everything seems fine. Then I installed the update.
Update 2: life focus is very choppy and slow. Strange because the rest of the phone feels buttery smooth.

I updated on Monday afternoon. It went without a hitch. My phone DID NOT reset all data, I do not know if I got lucky or what.
I just followed the instructions and put the update on my card.
Everything is working good. Sometimes i get a message that some app like the phone may not work due to compatibility issues but they always work.
I am looking forward to the release because I really like some of the changes.
Peace

We're you on the BRA5 build?
I installed the 3BRA5 VZW ROM via Odin then Odin'ed the 3BRA8 AP, BL & CP files without reboot & installed update.zip via recovery. Now MMS texts won't send.
Anyone else have this problem??
I took the OTA from verizon then I tried this Update to Oreo.
did you do the cscs file? If I remember correctly there were 4 files to flash.
/
I got it to work for me. I downloaded the newest version of Odin v3.12.7 and started the installation of the BRA8 software. It did the installation up to 32% and failed. I then applied the update.zip and it went through with no problems. We'll see how she goes from here on out.

None of my phone was reset either which was kind of nice. No need to do a factory reset if you dont want to. Again, my steps:
ONLY select BL, AP, CP. I did get an error during reboot around 32% but everything seems fine upon start up. Then I reboot into recovery and installed the update from the SD card. Everything is great with the exception of live focus...little choppy.
I did all 4 files from the BRA8 firmware. It tried to install and got to 32% before fail. My phone actually booted directly into recovery mode and I selected the update.zip file. It took a little while to process, but when the phone rebooted...BANK!!! So far so good. Haven't checked out live focus yet.
FYI: I did a factory data reset this morning and now the phone seems to be running much smoother. It also seemed to be draining the battery a bit faster after the upgrade. Since the reset it seems to be better now. I'll keep you posted in case anything crazy/weird happens...but so far so good.
Newer Version CRB3
Someone posted that there was a newer version of this firmware over at samsung.firmware.science. It is build CRB3. If you try to simply flash the update.zip it will fail. You will need to use the BRA8 files (BL, AP, CP, CSC) to downgrade. Here are my steps for those interested: 1)download CRB3 firmware and put it on your SD card, 2)use odin to downgrade to BRA8 (I used Odin 3.12.7), 3)get the 32% installation failure on the blue screen, 4)wait...the phone will boot into the recovery mode, 5)use the menu to install update.zip from sd card, 6)wait til it finishes and BANK!!! I'm on the newer version as we speak. Not sure of the differences yet, but some have reported linking to android wear devices was sketchy on CRB1 but not so much on this build. Give it a whirl!!!
My Verizon Nte 8 is showing N950USQU3CRB5. Works great. No more rooting for me.

Correct, it will not flash, just tried it.
I flashed it on via SD update this morning, to early to tell on the battery, but the fingerprint is amazing. So much faster and has not missed once for me. (did not need to re-register). No night mode on the camera though so thats a bummer.
What's this update bring?
Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
It's only 184MB. Probably just a security patch and minor bug/performance fixes.
Unfortunately the screen shot didn't save but have been experiencing some weird screen problems. Kinda hard to explain but it's like the screen black out but the apps and everything else turn like a neo color super weird wished the pics saved.

I'm going from ASD3 to ASD7 and after the SD update my phone rebooted and is stuck on the Starting Android screen. I'm not sure how long it should take but it has been going for more than 20 mins now... What should I do?
I flashed from ASD3 as well, a couple days ago. Had no issues and haven't had any weird screen problems either. Peanut, try another manual reboot. If it doesn't start after that, maybe try wiping your cache? Worst case, you might have to factory reset.
While we are on the subject of ASD7, is there a way I can flash the update.zip file an not lose my data ?
Flashing it doesn't wipe anything, but you can always backup before as a precaution. I've never had any issues flashing updates like this. Not sure if it helps, but I always wipe cache, before flashing the update.

While that's true for *most* carriers, ATT phones wipe when side loading updates. If your phone has an att logo at boot up, any update.zip file flashed via recovery or adb WILL wipe the device.
Didn't know that about ATT. I was with Nextel/Sprint for almost 20yrs and recently switched to Xfinity, but good to know.
You can Never get AT&T firmware from SamFirm. Always have to Odin TMB or Sprint and use Home CSC. If you know of place to Download ATT firmware let me know Please.
The update that the OP was referring to is from Firmware.science, not SamFirm/Mobile.

Yes I know that did not apply to installing the Update from Firmware.science. I was speaking of Complete ATT firmware to download and Flash in Odin, as I said in message above.
