Can we get Elemental X Kernel Support for MI A1 ?? - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

can we make a thread for flar2 to ask him to support Mi A1 Device ???

You can PM him. But it's his choice. He may not have time to support our device.
Maybe someone can use his source as base (our device is 3.18.x i don't know whether elementalX has 3.18 branch)

Would be nice to have some more options regarding custom kernels for this device.

Can we get official iOS port to mi A1? If we message apple enough I think apple will be forced to port working iOS on our beloved mi A1...
God you people are ridiculous... Devs work on their own free time and you guys don't have a right to ask for anything.

Is anybody want Xiaomi to release kernel sources for mi a1 ?

Hello guys
I have noticed that there is no kernel sources launched for mi a1 yet.Being an android one phone its kernel sources should be uploaded .
What are you thinking please comment and vote in the poll.
I'm sure they'll release it, just give it time...
"When asked about the status of kernel sources for its devices (with a specific mention of the Mi A1 from our end), Mr. Mani commented that Xiaomi’s focus is on providing quality kernel sources and not just uploaded for the sake of it (we assume he meant complying with the GPL…), like several OEMs in the lower budget market tend to do (if they release sources at all). The internal goal of the company is to release kernel sources within three months. Mr. Mani also commented that unlocking the bootloader of Xiaomi devices does not void warranty."

Just give it time. Also Mi A1 has the same specs as mi 5x or I'm wrong? someone could port a ROM from that phone to ours I think

The Mi 5X also doesn't have its kernel source uploaded, just yet.
Is this a joke? A brand that want to be respected and doesn't comply with GPLv2? Don't buy their crap, please...

Turn A1 into Mi 5X or not?

I am about to receive my Mi A1. In general, I do prefer MIUI over plain stock Android (...yes, I know that is not that common ). So naturally, I am thinking about to directly flash the A1 into a Mi 5X.
What are your opinions? Anybody here who has done it? Bugs afterwards? OTA?
Not going to work... You could brick the device..
I hear somethink about differences in partitions so better just don't do that because you can REALLY brick your phone.
Mi A1 has A/B partition which allows seamless updates whereas Mi 5X has the normal single partition. I suggest you to wait for about a month. Xiaomi will release the kernel sources (hopefully) this month and developers will make a MIUI ROM. If you tried to flash the Mi 5X ROM, you will end up bricking your phone.

If you wanted MIUI, you should've gotten yourself a Mi 5X. What's this nonsense thing, flash A1 into Mi 5x? It won't work. Be prepared for trouble if you try to do so.
Wait for kernel sources to be available, development to swing in. There will be a number of custom ROMs including MIUI.

Please, before asking anything read and search, there are many many many threads about A1 vs 5X. If you want Miui just because of Miui and no other reason than I can't get it why you bought A1, 5X is in general cheaper then A1.
Can't wait for Xiaomi to release kernel sources and someone ports Miui so this can stop.

Kernel Sources are Out..!

Xaiomi has finally released the kernal sources for Mi A1.
Can't wait to see an Official Paranoid Android ROM for our device ?

Better than nothing. I think we could have good custom ROMs anyway. Remember the cancro. We have some really amazing custom Oreo 8.1 ROMs at the moment.
BTW i would use a excellent N ROM as well (something like RR, NOS, DU or similar)
There is a discussion for this topic in the guides and discussion section.

Project Treble & 2018 Xiaomi Flagships - Mi 7 & Mi Mix 2S.

Are you looking forward to the 2018 flagship phones from Xiaomi - Mi 7 & Mi Mix 2S, especially since Project Treble will allow for ease of custom rom development ?
I probably won't upgrade my MI6 to MI7 but for other reasons. I don't like capacitive buttons and fingerprint sensors to be desapeared from front side.
Project Trebble is a great idea and is mandatory from factory Oreo versions. It will be easer to upgrade Android versions, even with MIUI.
I'm not so sure about kernel sources liberating, we have to wait more every time a new smartphone has been released from Xiaomi. I hope dev work will be easer to do with Project Trebble, and we get more stable custom ROM's.

Well, mi6 is my last xiaomi phone.
Without kernel sources treble is not comprehensive resolution.
I will buy phone from company which provide better developer support. Probably OP but I will also take a look what Huawei will do

WHY does Mi A1 not be ported to MİUİ ROM?

I can use Xiaomi Mi A1 but androidone can not be develop. I am looking for MIUI ROM to everywhere but I can not find.

This has been answered a million times. Nobody has interest in MIUI at the moment. And what about you do it yourself or buy a new phone?
You have Mi 5X for that
stop.
Thanks for giving the mods another thread to close.
This model is supposed to be Android One - to have stock android from Google. Mi5X is almost the same as Mi A1, but it runs with MIUI.
One phone from xiaomi has Android one, all others from xiaomi got miui. What would I buy if I want miui ??? Hard decision isn't it
How empty are you talking.
I did not find Mi 5x.
That's why I bought the A1.
OK!!???

I am just curious why there is no dev can port miui or flyme to mi a1... cant it use methode like other phone like sony or htc get miui custom rom?
Why?
1. Technical difficulties, for example a/b partitioning makes it hard
2. As virtually all other Xiaomi phones are based on MIUI so it's pretty pointless to port it to a this as well.
(Not in Your county?? Look at Gearbest and/or AliExpress or any similar shop!)
3. Lack of interest at dev's... Maybe in future but I wouln't hold my breath at the moment.
This issue has been discussed since day one and still the new topics are created with virtually same content instead of reading earlier answers... I just don't get it!!
This thread is loosing its course.
