Mi A1 App crashing and rebooting - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hello,
Maybe someone can give me an advice about this phone.
I have problem with application crashing and constant system restarting (google play, google services, camera and other apps).
I get phone with Nougat 7.1.2. I tried with hard reset but didn't help. After that updated with december patch and after that to Oreo (OTA, february patch).
I thought some of this steps would solve problem but I am still facing the same.
Phone is unusable that way.
Any idea?
Thanks

Should I install 7.12.19 update?

Just got Mi A1 today and it says an update is available. I thought it was the Oreo update they announced a few days earlier but it's not. They call it "Transition version for Android O".
Reading here and on Xiaomi forums I found out that both this update and Oreo have a lot of problems so now I don't know what to do? Install this update or wait for a stable 8.0 version?
I didn't have any problems with the update you mention.
I'm also not having any problems with Oreo.
You won't be getting the update to Oreo that everyone else updated to, it's been pulled so you would end up with this December update, then would have to wait for the next Oreo update.

yes oreo is not stable.
I don't understand why 1GB update is needed to go from Android 7.1.2 to 7.1.2 again with just this changelog:
1. D2Acontinuous annoying sharp Sound problem in A1
2. D2A is transferred to 112 when the local emergency number is called in the Czech Republic
3. Transition version for Android O

The current 8.0 stable version is absolutely fine for me. Till now did not faced any issues. After update i did a factory reset.... Works fine. For me 100% better than Nougat

Same here. No issues at all apart from the well known Bluetooth battery statistics issue. I didn't do factory reset after the upgrade.
No issues with Oreo, works as good as Nougat did!
Only a minor cosmetic issue with battery stats.
We do have some problems after the update to Oreo, like Mi remote not working in India
Swiping the fingerprint sensor for getting status bar is not working etc

Yes, you should absolutely install 7.12.19 as it is a security update. This is still Android Nougat (version 7).
The update is stable on my phone and actually improved some performance aspects (e.g. the time lag of the fingerprint reader is gone).
For Android Oreo (version 8) you should absolutely wait another month or two.

Yes, that's because you (we) need to wait the official update to Android 9 Pie, after that, we can flash these ROMs.
How is OmniROM Pie Alpha 5.2? Works fine? Battery life etc...?

Yes ROM is very good, I am using it now on both phones, satisfied, only problem is stock camera
gets stuck if u switch between vdo/image, and some time even if u do not switch, still it will close after a while
So have to use Open camera or Google camera, for which I am not satisfied with both of them

How do you have installed the ROM?
I followed the guide on OpenKirin site but I'm stuck in the page says my device is unlocked and can't be trusted, I've pressed power key to confirm the boot but nothing, it says: "Your device is booting now" but it doesn't go on.
I've tried with another ROM (OmniROM Pie Alpha 5.2 and OmniROM Pie Alpha 4) but same error...
Why?

Now I'm restoring it with eRecovery because the ROM doesn't start.

if you try recording a voice message, the sound is very glitchy and it has a lot of static in it, it's probably happening cause we don't officially have EMUI 9
tho it will release in july or late october for mate 10 lite

Hi,
I installed it on my rne-l21c432b338, then on b340 and on b341.
he always starts.
I use hurupdater to install the stock firmware. (check that you have the three firmware files of the same version.)
a faith installed, I go to REBOOT, select recovery. do factory rest and wipe cache. it restarts clean.
then connect to the PC.
with adb and fastboot, I install SYSTEM.img omnirom. (of course omnirom alpha 5.2
not the new version it is only for emui 9.)
faith flashed, unplug the cable and pushed it into recovery mode and make factory rest and wipe cache.
he starts for me.

In the past I had already installed a ROM from OpenKirin, but there was some problems with it and then I removed it with eRecovery. It has downloaded stock ROM (about 2,7GB if I remember right) and installed it. So I think I'm already on stock ROM (or am I wrong?)
Today I've tried to install 2 ROMs from OpenKirin and nothing happen, I get stuck on "The device is booting now..."
I've never used HuRUpdater (like I said before, I've always installed the stock ROM using eRecovery).
I don't understand what files I need (I know where to find files, here, but there I don't understand anything ahaha)
Probably is this the problem?
how do i upgrade to emui on my mate 10 pro is it even possible with an unlocked bootloader without relocking? the omnirom one is extremely laggy for me even the notificationpanel is extremely difficult to pull down, trying to install the latest rom thats for emui9 just gives a bootloop

So I updated my device through OTA and had boot loop, after to force the restart I needed to reset to factory settings because it said my data was inaccessible. I don't know what I did wrong.

The phone simply installed the update and rebooted automatically, probably the TRWP was gone after this. Installing the TWRP again would require me to wipe data anyway.
Hotspot internet stop working after screen lock. Not able to use mobile data on laptop. Please help.
Guys, if you did a OTA update, after update recovery restarts RN6 itself and all data will encrypt even if you use dm-verity before.
So, don't format your data, use this TWRP, it decrypts last stock rom's data. I tried this and it works very well.

Hello,
I just wanted to say that ROM is awesome stable so far never had any issue except sometimes my mic got disabled suddenly, ppl can't hear me in records calls anything and only restart fixes this issue otherwise all good 2 weeks nw.
Same problem here of the mic which is extremely annoying + having a bad mobile data signal otherwise, a really good rom
Hello, I downloaded the latest version of the firmware and cannot answer the call. When someone calls you, the phone does not respond, and no dialog box pops up to answer the call.
Hi, now I'm downloading. I'll flash clean. I was on Pixel Rom but I just tried MIUI12 EU Rom and it sucks... Errhhggg...
I'll flash this clean. Hope to won't back MIUI12...
Mic not working after use google assistant, and must reboot to make it work.
Evolution-X provides updates via OTA? I think Xiaomi is not going to update anymore and I am thinking of putting Evolution-X among other candidates ...

I've just installed it myself - the latest JoysKo version from 4pda.ru. Have not tested it thoroughly, though. Will report more soon. But...
GCam works. After having tried some two dozen versions (which either stopped immediately or did not install at all), I used MGC_6.2.030_FinalRelease_Bulkin043_V9Q, which is known to work on AOSP-9 based custom roms. I am not entirely sure it's perfect, but the basics work. (One may have to change the saving location, though.)
The only issue so far once fully booted - but I barely tested it - is that I seem to have deep sleep problems with third-party launchers (Nova, Lawnchair 2 etc.); Trebuchet works. It does not seem to be caused by widgets - but I need to explore more.
Another problem is common from AOSP9-based 3rd party roms: sometimes, on rebooting, the phone gets stuck (the "Unlocked" logo phase). A simple restart resolved it.
I have not sorted out passing SafetyNet yet (Magisk props fingerprints are apparently not enough).
Happy to report the terrible scrolling issues plaguing AOSP9-based roms here on XDA are completely absent.
Finally, battery life, even without deep sleep, is very good.
How did you recognized deep sleep issue? I am currently running Lawnchair 2 having 94% deep sleep while screen off.
Maybe it's gapps issue/play services? I am using open gapps test version for 11.

Same gapps here. I use Accu Battery and it reports it. I have the same problem if very unreliable sleep on two other phones using los18.
This thread deserves more views. I happened to try the android 11 based Havoc rom from April 2021 and it runs smooth. Everything works perfectly, and I've been using it as a daily driver for the last week.
Thank you JoysKo!

I tired several that did not. Works for me on Lineage-18.1-FORK-vanilla-20210124-nitrogen-JoysKo, though. (I installed both newer versions of the ROM and as far as I remember it worked on them too - but I replaced them later.)
Thank you so much for this thread. Installing Lineage is like a walk in the park like this. The only problem I come across is when I want to play back videos in some apps or Chrome. I get errors like video can not be played and SOURCE_STREAM_TYPE_NOT_SUPPORTED. I think this might be a firmware issue or is there another solution available?
Hello together
With last Lineage OS 18.1 fork-vanilla I've problems with loosing fingerprints after a while and GBoard-function with full NikiGapps is buggy.
Now I'm back to preversion and fingerprint problems are solved. Only changing to GBoard was not so good idea

Hi.
I don't know why, but information about unofficial release of LOS never have been posted here. If there's some legal issues, just delete my post. I have 18.1 running perfectly on my nitrogen. Maybe this is good moment to revive some of our old big nitrogens
Enjoy. It's really great.

I installed arrow and Los but all meet same problem. The message can not be received. Try to install global FW+ vendor at first but Stuck on the boot screen . Any good suggestion?
Hi, I was also very pleased to see Lineage on the Mi Max 3, still using this device due to the large screen I love.
Has anyone exerperienced bluetooth connection issues?
It connects to my speaker and then immediately disconnects and of course then wont play any music?
ROM version I used is lineage-18.1-20210608-nitrogen-experimental-PRGroup.zip
Any known fix as yet?
Previous versions do not have bluetooth issues like this?
Thanks.

The latest of the latest versions of Lineage 18.1: https://t.me/MiMax3Update/211
Many problems have been fixed in it. It is advisable to install cleanly...
Regard, JoysKo.
P.S.: For DT2W use this module…

Thanks. Got it from Telegram a few days ago. I can confirm it works great. Better than the January version, which was the best before in my view. Do try to install from Orange Fox, however, not TWRP.
