Do You Recommend Root For S8 Oreo? + Which Rom Do You Use? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi, i rooted all of my devices in the past. Do you recommend root for s8 (exynos) latest oreo at the moment?
im using samsung health, pass, VoLTE, VoWiFi (wifi call), stock keyboard
samsung pay isnt working in my country.
love touchwiz, not need to customize.
using adhell for ad blocking.
removed system apps with cmd.
do you recommend current roms over stock oreo? if yes which? and screenshots.
also is magisk working with safetynet pass on s8?
if i root my device i will do these:
zero camera mod (increase every quality)
dual speakers
standart root features like; pathing with lucky, cheating, tibackup, v4a etc.
ad blocking.
wifi tools
dolby atmos or other speaker quality enhancement app
mod apps

No problem with root if you dont care about secure folder, S health and your warranty. You already mentioned samsung pay doesnt work in country so that wont be problem and as you can always go to stock by flashing latest firmware from sammobile i have done it. Now if you dont care about above problems go for twrp and secondly you asked about roms, well best roms right now Alexis S9 port and Lightrom's S9 port though ghey have bugs right now intelligent scan doesnt work and Dolby effects. Thirdly my friend you said you will flash some sound mods trust me dont flash dolby i will recommend ONLY Xtrememusic as it has V4A and it can push the quality to max 384khz i think it is. And yes it passes safetynet. And there you go hopefully all you wanted.
INSTALLING TWRP WILL TRIP KNOX!!! YOU CANT RESET IT JUST REMEMBER.

no once you root S health will not open because of knox tripped it says cant open s health due to our new policies it is associated with knox warranty i think. you cant use it once you root your phone even if you flash original firmware it wont open.

I'm on Renovate Ice 9.1 + Magsik 16.0.
S Health is working fine

Do S Health and Secure folder work when rooted with Magisk or CF-Auto-Root (without TWRP)?

Is it true that samsung made it impossible to root an S8+ with the latest updates?

I seem to remember reading something some weeks ago that Samsung did something in their latest few updates for the S8+ that made it impossible to root them... is that true?
I'm running a SM-G955F - DTM here... and I'd rather keep it rooted. I'm using magisk to root my devices.
Any insights for me?
AFAIK, as long as if you have twrp installed, you can update to whatever you want.
you then can:
make a full backup with TWRP, and Samsung can't do anything against you just restoring the full backup (with the old update and root)
just flash whatever (custom)ROM you want.
You already are rooted, so OTAs aren't a thing for you. I don't know if there even exists a twrp flashable stock ROM, but why don't you just switch to a custom rom (with the newest updates installed)?
Honestly, the only custom rom i know of is lineage (nee cyanogenmod), and at least on my old S5 I found that the fingerprint reader does not work on cyanogenmod. also, anything that checks safetynet does not work either.

LieangeOS isn't even available for our device (infact it is, but unusable).
The custom roms available right now are all stock touchwiz roms with slight modifications (most of them aren't even necessary, thx to aroma).
Look over to a thread like the one from Renovate ICE, most of the time roms like these are based on the newest sources from Samsung with the newest security patch level. It has root (Magisk or SuperSu) included and also passes safetyNet.
As I said in the post above, you always can make a full twrp Backup, try a ROM like Renovate Ice and if you don't like it, just go back to your stock ROM in minutes. :fingers-crossed:

Can someone upload the stock rom?

As title says, I need the stock rom. Downloading from sammobile takes about 15 hours so I wonder if someone can upload it (I'm sure many of you already downloaded the stock rom from sammobile).
Otherwise, suggest me a rom that passes Safetynet completely, because I've tried so many roms, stock-based, AOSP-based, porting, prerooted and not prerooted, and none of them passes Safetynet completely.

Also as of now zero ROMs can pass SafetyNet while you are rooted, when you are not rooted you will pass but usually none of the S3 Neo ROMs can pass SafetyNet.

Yeah, I see. It's strange that non-prerooted roms don't pass safetynet. Btw, I don't need root, so I guess I'll stay stock.
I don't know why you don't need root but I needed my s3 neo completly unrooted so i could play fate GO a rly awsome game that has some nasty root detection rly it made me puke like u have to remove every trace of root that there is. But i managed to get it running on cm 12.1 and on los 13 by completly unrooting with no need for pc and by using a flasable zip i found on 1 reddit thread. I dont know if my rom passes safety net or not but at least its completly unrooted.
EDIT
Well it seems like on cm 12.1 non rooted i pass safety net if you wish i can tell u how i unrooted my s3 neo on cm 12.1
:good:
I need non-rooted rom because pokemon go doesn't work anymore with magisk (in fact someone posted a fix right after I opened this thread). Btw, before the fix was posted, I've done a few test. I flashed lineage os 14.1, then magisk 14, then rebooted, then flashed universal safetynet fix for magisk v14, then flashed magisk 16. In this way safetynet passes completely even with root. Flashing directly magisk 16 without the universal safetynet fix make the safetynet to not pass.
Im telling you i had los 13 and now cm 12.1 completly unrooted without magisk. It can run pokemon go fine

S8 software changes: what is the best way to do them? (List)

I had several samsung phones overall past years . After short time I always root them or flash custom software. Recently I switched from my last modded S5 to S8 plus and.. this phone is working great ! One of the best samsung so far. And here is the problem. I dont want to loose current stability/performance of the phone because its working fine, however I would need few addons that may impact on the software:
This changes are:
- Add Viper4Audio (eventualy beatAudio) - its a must
- Add google HDR camera
- Add modded S8 camera with higher bitrates for recording
- Optional: remove some of the bloatware. Currently I can only disable them, but there are not necessary for me.
+ I dont want to lose finger scanner.
Thats really all I need.
Based on the list above it seems I should at least root the phone, flash twrp to install cameras, custom kernel for permissive mode (V4A)? and maybe just a custom firmware to remove bloatware.
I have a question , if you could help me: What should be my steps to archive above points with minimal possible impact on software (like flash twrp install apps and then get back to samsung bl) ? Or is there a known custom software that has miminal changes but allows me to perform above tasks ?
Im using Samsung S8+ exynos European version.

Also, once you're rooted you can install those manually, same process as the s5 pretty much

Custom Nougat ROM that is based off stock but doesn't break banking apps?

I've been using ambasadii's Nougat 7 ROM for a while as it enables WiFi calling and doesn't break banking apps if you don't root. Are there are newer ROMS that offer the same functionality (happy to drop wifi calling)
As far as I can tell alot of custom S7 builds change the base kernel / Nougat base which causes Barclays not to work, ambrassidi`s seems to stick to the base.
Thanks for all your help.

I don't think that it depends what custom rom you have, it's more about what root method you use (Magisk or SuperSU) and that you pass SafetyNet. You can just use Magisk and select your banking apps in Magisk Hide. Be sure to disable Systemless Xposed in Magisk if you use it because it breaks SafetyNet. Reboot your device and check if you pass SafetyNet in Magisk. Your banking apps should be working then.

Problems after flashing a custom rom

Hey guys,
I really loved my S7 edge in the past, but with the last updates Samsung introduced some things that really bother me.
The worst things are the Samsung Members app and the "contact us" dialogue in every menu and the Volume safe warning.
Some weeks ago I decided to switch to a custom rom and found "SuperMan Rom" and "The Galaxy Project". Flashing these, I wasn't able to use Google Pay and Samsung Health anymore (even on stock). Root was always detected, even if not installed or hidden by magisk.
My Problem with these roms is, that they have built in features that I don't need and "SuperMan Rom" is discontinued...
I would like to have / make a rom which is the closest to stock possible, with all Apps which are not necessary removed and the latest version of those who are installed....and most important GPay and SHealth working.
Do you have any advice for me? I would be happy about any help!
