I wen to install Widevine Level 1 certification today. - OnePlus 5T Guides, News, & Discussion

I went to OnePlus store personally just now because the great people therr did not pickup the phone full day yesterday
one guy is telling that they're not ready now ( because they don't have internet or some crap) , two people discussed in a local language and asked me to come tomorrow.
one female is asking me to come on Sunday, it's just 10 minutes work.
I asked about data, one guy is saying that everything will be wiped, one is saying that nothing will happen
noob morons don't know ****, I am wondering why do they even hire them? such unprofessional assistance.
I visited OnePlus Experience Store in Brigade Road, Bangalore.

Customer service centers in India generally run by third-party companies mostly. If the person did not understand what you were talking about you can also told them what's the Widevine encryption and should have asked them to talk to their superiors if they do not have any idea about it. India is a country which still lacks a proper internet connection. So if they have any issues regarding internet connection, they must have asked you to come on next day to get it flashed. Also you are of those luckiest persons who can visit the service centers in person and get it done within few minutes. OnePlus 5T users around the globe have that advantage? Try it once again in polite way. You should not shout here by abusing someone.

Was your BL unlocked? Mine was locked but was on the open beta. No mods made otherwise. Not sure if an unlocked BL will require a wipe.

Yeah unlocked and rooted
Was on ob4
I don't mind the wipe;had the data already backed up.
They kinda wasted 4 hours after telling me initially that it would take 30 mins max.
Now when i call them they tell me it might take a week or so. Where r u from?

If it says L3 Security level, the update is not applied, right? It must say L1?
Edit: Got the answer in another thread. Thanks

this seems to be an India thread? nobody else is providing any input re this "update". how do the rest of us with no OP service centers in our countries get this patch?

I had a conversation with OnePlus on live chat. I directly used the term "widevine level 1".
He told me that it's a 1-2 hour process and that if I have decrypted my storage and unlocked BL, I should ideally revert both and backup my data.

Just found out theres was a 4.2.2 update which didn't know of or atleast think there is based on what some people are saying so went to check because my tablet never prompted me for it. Now i'm not unlocked and stock so should have no problem but getting server is busy error when attempting so decided to call asus. They say its google software and they have nothing to do with the server for update which makes no since to me at all from what i've learned and also say the current android version is 4.2.2 which wondering if it is because was without my tablet for couple weeks and haven't heard that yet and figuring is asus they should know. I guess i can see how the server issue maybe but no internet connection problems as im posting using the tablet right now so would think its a server issue. Wouldnt of thought would be googles problem as its an asus device but anyone have any info on that.

Amazon just sent me an email about potential security issue and update (forced?)

Thanks for that, and the link....my mind is at ease now! I followed the instructions on the Blu website to find that app, and it wasn't there because I'm all BL unlocked and debloated.
Please see this article, this is pretty bad..... http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/16/us/politics/china-phones-software-security.html
App was sending talk, text, and location information back to China every 72 hours
and even after all that they still wont fu**in update the OS.

Says to check your version of Wireless Update in settings/apps. If you're on 5.4 you're OK. I am. But then, I updated to v6.6 firmware as soon as I got the phone.

it wont bee in your app draw , you need to be rooted and at least install link2sd to see all the apps and remove fota* named apps and the wireless app thats written out clearly .
Go to setting/apps, scroll to bottom, wireless update. v5.4 is OK. Can't be disabled, only rolled back. Don't do that.

I didn't mean the app drawer, I was talking about the steps outline on the Blu security page linked in the OP.
I went through [settings > apps > show system] and there's no "Wireless Update" in there.
I rooted the phone to disable ads a while ago, if whatever method I used disabled OTA's, could that be the reason I don't see Wireless Update? If so, does that mean I'm in the clear?

They will be back in stock in the next 2 weeks according to a consumer reports article. Amazon pulled them all to fix the security issue, and is restocking them. They might also be a BLU R1+ version released soon(which is rumored right now). http://www.androidheadlines.com/2016/10/blu-r1-plus-hits-fcc-likely-amazon-exclusive.html
I just hope Amazon gets on BLU for not giving us the official LET band 12 update yet. Maybe Amazon will pressure Blu to get the promised Nougat update out also. we can only hope.

Verizon is dropping on the 5th. Sprint is dropping on the 8th. There's a good facebook group to help with blocking the updates. Note7Alliance. I'm still charging at 100% after disabling the update packages. No one really knows if that will stop the kill push. We'll see.

There's still a lot of conflicting information out there. Here's a quote from an XDA member from another thread touching on the same topic...
"I just talked to a Sprint rep. She said that Sprint will not blacklist any Note 7's on the Sprint network, even after the update is released. So it seems like disabling Samsung updates should be enough."
I hope they don't. Just isn't any other phone out that's a worthy upgrade.

They did not opt out because i been getting text messages from sprint telling me that samsung is going to push the update and i should return my phone. My fear is that before the S8 or N8 comes out that Sprint will end up blacklisting the IEMI and just cut service to the phones. Everyone keeps saying they wont do this they wont do that then they do so best bet is at some point they are going to cut network service. And some of you saying you talk to a sprint rep. Please guys what do they know. You really think some rep who answers calls and sells phones or helps you when you need an extesion to pay your bills. Since the start one person says one thing then another. Like i said best bet is blacklisted at some point.

I originally posted that. Let me clarify: Sprint will not blacklist any IMEI's on Note 7's. Which means that you can continue using your phone on the Sprint Network as long as it is on.
But Sprint will still send out the "kill" update to encourage people to return their devices. The kill update will disable Note 7's ability to be used as a mobile device. But if your phone doesn't get updated, you can still use it.
If you block Samsung updates, then you can still use it on the Sprint network indefinitely.

It quotes 7 day max. Im just wondering if it typical to get it sooner. Also another question, does anyone know if it will be possible to enable the second sim slot? I know there's only one imei but the official spec is duak standby meaning only one sim can be actively used at a time. Most phones like that only have 1 imei which is what limits that. I dont really have a need for a second sim right now but it would be nice to have as an option.
