ROMS or Stock firmwares for DUOS version??? SM-J730F/DS - Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) Questions & Answers

I recently got the SM-J730F/DS and i wanted to mainly get rid of the operator loaded firmware by flashing a stock or custom rom ... the problem is that i cannot locate any firmware for the SM-J730F/DS model? flashing the normal SM-J730F will work fine with dual sim support? And lastly which custom rom can someone suggest that runs without any bugs on my SM-J730F/DS
THANK YOU !!!

You can flash any firmware which is compatible with j730f.
I have XenOs but it is not without bugs ,i do not think it is custom rom without bugs.

My device is also a 730f/ds and I havent had any problems with a rom related to hardware. As far as I can tell the last two letters indicate the amount of internal storage and sim slots. Any given rom for J730 f should work on your device.
Even if you are stuck on a bootloop you should be able to enter recovery and flash a different rom.

Thank you guys for your help, so if i really wanted a custom rom on there which one would you suggest the most that has the least amount of bugs?

bro first of all relax and download any custom rom and flash it via recovery say cynogenmod etc..then let it start and check whether you can connect to network if its fine then your hardware is perfectly safe and goahead with flashing the stock rom you downloaded (consider redownloading it to be sure) and flash it and you would be fine

because installing a custom rom by fully formatting phone will delete any corrupted files that are causing the error and when you will flash the official rom it will intsall as a new clean rom and will work without any problem

Cannot install any Custom ROMs after root sm-N910f

Hi all, this is my first ever post so please bear with me!
I have a Note 4 sm-910f. I rooted recently and have the latest TWRP installed. I have tried to install a number of ROMs but:
If I install AOSP based I get a "Failed" error and a note to say that the ROM is not the correct one for the device - it seems to get my device wrong too?!
If I install a Touchwiz ROM such as NoteX it appears to flash OK but it just keeps bootlooping upon restart.
Any ideas? Could it be anything to do with the modem or bootloader? I'm currently on stock 5.0.1.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Cheers

Hi, thanks for the quick response.
I did mean X-note. I have tried a number of other ROMs too, Aliance - Emotion Revolution.
Right now I tried flashing a new bootloader/modem as per this ROM "http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/rom-robomix-t3069298" but now I'm stuck in a complete bootloop!!
I think I need to get the correct bootloader and/or modem - I just don't have a clue why or what is what. I an't find any guides!

Dude
Just download the latest Lollipop from Samsung and you will be always safe.
To install a Custom Lollipop you should first flash the respective Bootloader and Modem that are contained into Samsung's release.
What I've told you will ALWAYS work. Flash a Sammobile firmware corresponding to the Custom ROM version you are intending regardless if it's LL or MM.

and want to try this mm custom rom

but maybe get some issue and want to return to my old rom ditto rom so when i want to try any custom rom even mm or lolipop i need to flash stock one by odin then flash custom rom even from mm to lolipop or just flash bootloader and modem ...
thx in advance
Hi ammarsg
To play safe and assure everything will work fine you should always match the ROM firmware code with your Bootloader+Modem Code
For example:
If you flash a Lolipop 5.1.1 XXU1AOH2 would be great if your BL+Modem could have the same code. This is not always possible so you have to find the closest one regarding your model/region.
The same will happen to a Marshmallow 6.0.1 XXU2DPE5. You should find a Marshmallow as closest as of the ROM for your BL+Modem.
It wont work if you mix Lollipop x Marshmallow.
The only overhead you will have while flashing an entire Sammobile firmware is that it will overwrite your Custom Recovery so you will have to flash it too again using Odin before the ROM.
If you are able to find ONLY the Bootloader+Modem needed for your model/region it will be easier but it's not usually available.
Hope you have understood now.
Nice regards.

N910U Sim Not Working On Custom Rom

I have a galaxy note 4 exynos n910u (treltexx) with stock rom (6.0) everything works fine so i decided to install custom rom. First it was hard to find the rom for it after i found few i flashed one.
RR with twrp 3.3 after flashing phone was working like usual but when i interted the sim card it did not detect it so i tought it might be the rom what causing it then i flashed the stock with odin and sim was working fine so i flashed lineage same issue again evwn then i tought it was rom but no matter rom i try sim was not getting detected (exept stock) .
Thing i notice was there was no imei number after dialing *#06#*
So i found the new rom Note 7FE edition android 7 i gave it a try same thing no sim detected but this time i was getting IMEI number
Also my phone is N910U and showed Spark nz logo at boot and i'm in india but sim works fine on stock get 4g and everything and also when i install any rom it say N910C ony Note 7FE edition one said N910U
Is there any way to fix this issue
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

I wrote to you on the telegram channel also - the 910U has a weird modem (Intel) which has issues with the RIL (radio layer interface).
Also the developer has no phone note 4 910U so that he can test it and get logs to see errors.
As for all the peeps with this model - "It is what it is" - deal with it.

I'm not sure if this will work but you have a backup of your stock roms modem partition you could yry dirty flashing it to your custom rom. You could also use a root file manager and copy your stock roms csc files and place the in a flashable .zip and dirty flash that to your custom rom.

Opps , I mean rooted stock roms. I've noticed conflicts with custom roms if the rom manager has the same settings as GRX.

Your welcome, I was hoping it would have worked
Did you try creating a .zip with your working csc's and flash that in twrp as well?
