How do you unlock the phone with fingerprint? - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

Hello everybody
I want to know how fingerprint unlocking works with that phone. I mean if, when the screen is off, you have to press the button and then swipe the finger over the sensor, or you can only touch the sensor, or you have to swipe it, or you have to turn the screen on and then touch the sensor, etc etc.
Other question, is it possible to use always the fingerprint? Or there are situations in which you have to use the pattern/pin/password in any case? (I mean after rebooting the system or when you turn the screen off from an app, for example)
Thank you
Best regards

I just press the button and continue to hold my finger on it and the phone unlocks. It happens so fast that if I just want to look at the clock on the lock screen I have to use a finger that hasn't been recorded or it will unlock to my homescreen. My configuration always asks for a PIN on reboot, and once every so often it will ask for my PIN "for additional security"...

Anyway you have to press it. Simply touch the sensor with a registered finger doesn't wake and unlock it, right?
And how often it asks for the pin?
Thank you

yes you have to press the button, but it is so quick, no need to wait for unlock. I think, this fingerprint scanner in the power button is the best method, better than fingerprint at the back of phone. The pin is only needed if you restart your phone (or you press the powerbutton with a unregistered finger, or your finger is wet) I like it very much!

Challange! Lock Device On Power Off/screen Off.

I have been trying to Find a Macro Mapper or some kind of 3rd party ap to lock my device when i press the power button. The only work around at this time is to use Lock Device with 4 number pin and 0min lock setting. however i am tired of constantly pressing digits and would rather use native Lock Function that requires bottom left tap to unlock than middle right side tap to confirm unlock. However, it is only initiated from a Lock on screen tap.
IF anyone knows how to enable this lock by pressing the power button which is in my case on the right side of my mogul(PPC6800) that shuts off the screen and powers down to standby i would greatly appreciate it. this is also a replacement for S2U which has a few bugs with slide out keyboard and memory leaks.

Screen lock unusable?

With all that screen to touch, having this thing wake up in your pocket (or holster in my case) it bad - it registers keypresses all over the place, and so far it's deleted appointments and other fun stuff for me.
There is the screen lock (hold down right-most softkey a few seconds) but for me at least if an alert wakes the phone, the screen activates and looks normal, but all hardkeys are disabled. Can't even shut the phone down, have to hit the soft reset button, so conveniently located under the battery cover (argh, talk about dumb design choices...)
So anyone have any ideas on the screen lock? I'd even be willing to dedicate the left-most soft-key long-press to a third party lock, as long as it works properly.
u can use s2u2 IPHONE like screen lock
Hold the hang up button to lock, to unlock press the word unlock and a screen will apear saying To unlock device Tap unlock.
Yeah I did that, the hold hang up button thing... that's what's partly unlocking itself, which is a pain to say the least.
Gonna try Throttlelock. Haven't found any really Manila-lookalike skin yet but it seems to do what I want - lock the device - and even adds a little security.
And what about just clicking once on the power button after locking the device using the hold hang up thing?
Doesn't it does what you need? Press again to wake up the mobile?

No, what happen is: I hold down end call to get the device to lock. Then I tap the power button to close down the screen too.
However, a reminder kicks in and that brings the screen back online AND live, so touching it can do stuff. But, the device is still somehow "locked"... except the only thing that is well and truly locked are all the buttons. Power button, volume buttons, even the softkeys on the front, none of them do anything, but the screen works only too well.
There is now way I found to recover from that state except a soft reset. That boots the device - in locked mode, so I have to hit Unlock and then tap the button on the middle of the screen.
I need a lock that is lock, ie it doesn't activate the screen or buttons no matter what, until I unlock it myself. Looks like Throttlelock may be the answer though.

finger print key lock?

Is this possible to lock or unlock the screen with only fingerprint without presssing the power button?
Yes, for waking without pressing power button.
No, for waking by only swiping FP reader.
Set up FP unlock.
Activate wake on volume rocker.
Now you can wake pressing volume rocker and unlock swiping FP reader.
i hope someone work on this isue. it is so boring that press the power button and swipe. only finger print could enough for lock and unlock.
thank you for kindly interest...
You have to wake the phone first by pressing a button, otherwise the FP scanner would need to be on all the time draining the battery, and probably reducing it's lifecycle considerably.

Lock Screen bug

It's happening every now and then, but sometimes when I press the lock screen button to unlock the screen, the lock screen comes up but I can't unlock it, it just ignores my finger like if the digitalizer was off. I have to press the button twice (to turn it off and on again) to make it work.
Any ideas?

Use home button to wake-unlock device?

Hello,
I know that it exists 2 ways to unlock the Z1 using the fingerprint:
- Wake up the device using the double tap to wake or power button, then use smoothly the fingerprint sensor to unlock the device
- While the screen is off, perform a long click into the fingerprint button (AKA home button) to wake up and unlock in the same action.
I like much more the second option, but... do you think that the long click will break the fingerprint sensor with the time?
Time will tell
