AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discuss

See Post #2 for the Link to Odin Files
I'll continue to try and get the Odin files as they drop and add them to post #2 for everyone
Understanding the Firmware labels
I got a better, more updated explanation to how these are broken down
N=Note
950U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader rev(this is important!)
A,B,C,D = Nougat rev 1, Nougat rev 2, Oreo rev 1, Pie rev 1
If you ever see a build that contains a "Z" such as this: U5ZSA1, that means the build is part of Samsung's Official Beta program. The "Z" in this context replaces the Android Version letter thus obscuring what OS it actually is.
P,Q,R,S = Year (R is 2018, S is 2019)
A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L)
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z (Ex. If a build is U5CRK4 then that is the fourth build of the month of November)
So N950USQS5CRK1 would be
N950-U-SQ-S-5-C-R-K-1
N950U (Note 8 Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), S (Security), 5 (Bootloader version), C (Build Oreo), R (2018), K (November), 1 (1st build)
**You CANNOT downgrade to a lower Bootloader. So if you are on a Bootloader 5 rom, you can not go to a Bootloader 4 rom.

Thanks to @Venom0642 for all of his contributions and links(and telling me when I've f'd up a post ) and to @borijess, @bboii86 for all your help too!

I've tried to put together as much info as possible. If anyone has more info to add, or new info please let me know. I'll try to keep the OP updated for everyone. I hope we can all contribute to this thread and make is useful.

Pardon my ignorance, I've tried to follow the development of Oreo availability as close as I can...
Using the outline method, would future OTA updates be pushed? Or would one be doomed to sideload?

No worries man. You would have to go back to a stock Rom in order to receive Ota updates again.

Official soak test invites Started

i got mail from [email protected] for soak test
I got one too like 3 months ago
They are probably adding more people to the test, the question is what version will the new testers get, if the same already out or a new one. Let's hope it's a new one and someone leaks it here.

Don't post that you got invite for SOAK tests, Motorola asks users to keep the information regarding SOAK tests confidential and might withdraw your name from the list
Simply its a mobile software.nothing more than that...and no need to fear about revealing the info..there will be no update for our mobile after marshmallow..

And not a single twrp backup? Or at least some credible proof?
Btw in europe they sell also the indian XT1068 with the same build so whenever indian users get an update we are also getting it. So you're saying that noone from india and EU has made a backup or captured the OTA? I honestly doubt that.
coz they become extra honest.

T-Mobile pushing out Marshmallow OTA for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in Poland

Ok, sammobile reported that, but I'm not sure it's the truth. I searched around the web and I didn't find any user report of that update. I remember that last year xda and reddit were overfilled with hundreds of screenshots when lollipop was released for S5.
Anyway 21st February is near, I hope in a massive release and not in a slow and sectorial distribution.

Because mm has yet to be rolled out, don't know why we have any confusion at all.
Once someone on xda has confirmed that they have received a Ota than we can say mm has been rolled out in that location, don't trust any site or blog or whatever.

PB1 Update Rolling Out?

Did anyone get a notification for an update today? The version is "PB1" (LRX21T.G900VVRU2BPB1). It appears to just be a security patch. https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/galaxy-s5-update/ Assuming someone will dump it out, root it, and we'll be able to flash with FlashFire? I've pre-ordered a S7 so I don't know if I'll even try before I ditch this phone.
I'll give it a shot, assuming I can trigger the update.

Update has been downloaded. Now lets see if I can pull it.
I'm currently pulling/uploading the update.zip for @muniz_ri or @jrkruse to look at for us.
Hopefully it can be rooted using the new root method and they can make a ROM or 2 for us.

Here's the link -

For me it's not working and saying software up to date.
So, was anyone able to install the update?
Not avaiable for me too, also saying it's up to date.
According to the mods in the Motorola forums those are the release notes but it HAS NOT been released to anyone outside of the soak tests.

Some Substratum theme options weren't yet working. A few random force closes. Security Log agent messages from some apps. Lag in the notification shade when playing Spotify (so possibly any media). It's not like Oreo is a big upgrade, so I'm not in a rush to get it.

You don't need root for Substratum. The $1.99 add-on does work and is probably required.

You can, but only by using the built in "my files" app.. Also go to settings>apps then tap the dots in the top right and tap special access and look at the bottom of the list. Do you see install unknown apps?
I hope they fix the theming issues, half of the icons get the stupid white border/frame. even when you turn off icon frames its stays. its the biggest reason why I switched back. This Beta is really stale this year. I have it on my s8 to and I'm not really impressed
