Ok.. So Sue Me ! I Was 100% Wrong To Complain About The Oreo Update - Honor 7X Guides, News, & Discussion

Alright ! Alright...
I've been weaving through these threads.. here and there.. *****ing about why Honor promised us an Oreo update in the 1st Quarter.. ( At least they let articles post stating such ) and now it's not coming until sometime in the 2nd Quarter.. :crying:
*****ing about.. why can't rollouts be more Uniformed... more Precise region by region who is going to get it 1st, 2nd, 3rd..
*****ing about.. why is there No Stock Nougat Software for the 7x available in the event of Catastrophic Failure..
I'm Sorry.
You See.. Honor is not doing bad at all.
In Fact, Honor / Huawei are amongst the leaders of the pack.
Fact is.. the Honor View 10 is not only Revered throughout the Media.. but with it's Project Treble Support.. the View 10 has received Linage, Carbon and AOSP ROM's already.. but it also was one of the few phones to Launch with Oreo 8.0 in Quarter 1.
That's Not An Easy Feat..
The number of devices running Oreo as of this writing.. is STAGGERING
https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/android-distribution-news/
https://www.tomsguide.com/us/android-oreo-release-date,news-26474.html
Samsung has even had to PULL their Oreo update due to issues.
SO HUAWEI / HONOR.. TAKE YOUR TIME..
Even though XDA as of this writing, has articles on Android P (and Adroid P should have an E.T.A. of August for it's release..) Oreo is still in it's Infancy as far as actually having devices that can run it.. and for now that makes the View 10 ( and hopefully the 7x ) something REALLY special here at XDA and in general.
So.. again, I'm Sorry for *****in...
I'll Wait for 8.0... or spend the $300.00 extra and get an Honor View 10.. but, I won't ***** anymore.. Promise..

Yeah not a lot of phones with Oreo yet. I have a question as I haven't been able to get an answer from anyone. Is the honor 7x a good phone? I've got $200 to spend aside from the 7x I might be able to get a used pixel instead if I can get $50 more to spend my parents are telling me I have to make the phone last 2 years so I'm being very careful about my choice.

Just Being A Parent..

First Of All.. You Are Wise Beyond Your Years...
I admire that.. I really do. :good:
Your being HONEST about your particular situation gives myself and others a chance to offer advice that should at the very least... give you food for thought.
1st: Don't Be In A Rush! ( it appears you are not ) but by that I mean, turn to YouTube.. WATCH EVERY REVIEW on the Honor 7x.. Read.. every review you can on the Honor 7x... Moto G5+ / G5s+ , Moto G6 Play ( unveiling next week ) it's the
best way to formulate a plan to be satisfied with your choice.
2nd: I would not take Mum & Dad's offer of " We'll throw in another $50.00.. but you'll be Locked In For At Least 2 Years"
The *Risk vs Reward* odds would be against you.
2 years in the mobile phone industry is an eternity! Stay at your $200.00 dollar budget... and leave the option open to upgrade next year.
Finally: Short Anwer to your original question " Is the 7x worth your $200.00 bucks?" HELL YES IT IS !
In it's purest form ( Out of the Box ) the 7x has a WEALTH of features.. the camera alone is worth the price of admission for you younger folks that may be into selfies, posting pics etc.. Plenty to play with WITHOUT having to root.
Now.. this brings me to a VERY IMPORTANT POINT..
When it comes to the 7x... if you decide you want to jump right in and root this device... And You Mess It Up somehow..
Like SEVERAL people have already done ( Just go through the threads and you'll see them looking for a way out of the rabbit hole ) YOU HAVE NO WAY AT THIS TIME TO RETURN IT TO IT'S STOCK FORM.
In Fact... As soon as you request your unlock code from Honor... Your warranty is instantly Null & Void.
Imagine having to go tell Mum & Dad you just broke your new device.. And, can you please borrow the money to get another one!
No Matter what you get... MAKE SURE it has a stock image available to return it to out of the box condition should you decide to root it...
VERY IMPORTANT.
Ok Man.. Enough Fatherly chat... but just so you know... I'm old enough to be your dad ( Maybe even your dad's dad! )
So when I offer advice, it's not from someone that is your peer..
Good Luck in your choice of device.

How do you think about Huawei and the promise for our Honor phones??

Hii to all Honor 8 owners
I am starting this topic couse every here and there I find in all of the threads
someone complain how the Huawei don't care and that they don't update
our phone in a good way or at least as promised.
So, the ones which are compain, they say like I paid the money for the phone
I want this or that and they are not satisfide with the phone couse it is an all around good
phone but you know, no xda support or something like it is a good value phone but
Huawei is bad and so on and so on.
Now I want this things to be discussed in this topic...
What do you think, will we get the android O update?
Why do you think Huawei is the one to be blamed?
Do you think they will not keep with the promise they gave to all Honor phones
and the 2 year software upgrade??
Are you dissapointed with this phone or just with Huawei??
Do you think you are not getting with this phone what you have paid for??
And lots of other stuff to be discussed in this topic and thread..
Now to give my opinion.
First I want to say I had a lot of smartphones
I was having from LG, Samsung, Sony and some other phones and now evan this Huawei
The first thing I notice is you guys complain in every xda thread the same and
not being real not for once for any phone
It goes like this
I will never again buy an Huawei or LG or Samsung or Sony or other phone like iPhone
I paid so much money but not getting the full software support, they just don't care about this phone
Then after like 7 days it goes like this is the worst phone I ever had.. do not buy that phone guys couse
it has an overheat issue when gaming..
It is not good for gaming at all
And so on and so on...
Well I must say that you guys always complain that you don't know how to buy your next phone
or you want it to be perfect for the money you paid.. so you are not real..
So lets be real just for once, how come evan an samsung s8+ owner after one or two weeks is
complaining about the phone?? And the usuall thing, I wont buy samsung no more!! LooOOooL
Dont you go and read about the phone what you are getting and what you will be paying for?
Dont you come over to xda to first ask for user experiance but after some time you come to
blaim some company for not giving updates like you DESIRE IT .. like every month.. regardless of
the REAL possibility to have such support??
I had so many phones wich not evan had what now the Honor 8 has.. I had phones wich had no
support not just from the manufacturer but also not on xda like couse my phone was in my region
with the bootloader locked with no possibility to unlock it ever!!
And I was stuck on what I get out of the box
So, long story short, why you guys always looking for the perfect one wich will have it all
like the best build the premium feel and the xda support and evan the support from the
manufacturer and then not getting it and come to blaim someone after like two weeks..
Can it just once be like.. I am satisfide with what I got??
My opinion you should be satisfide with the Honor 8
It has after like 10 months more then some more expansive phones
Not to evan say something about the premium feel and the build quality
So, lets discuss it now and here what you think overall of it.. not in every other topic..
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Posting this first will promote a better and more productive discussion.
BTW, the last time the Honor 8 FDR-L04/L14 were up-to-date with security patches was October 2016 when Huawei released B162 firmware. December security patch was released in February and that's the latest official we've got so far. Now the still to be released B385 update will bring us just up to March's patch.
I'm starting to see a pattern here now and is not good.
Hii @Dominikrod
Thanks for the link for the update policy
And yes it is not updated that fast.. like getting the march security in the late april or start of may
But is it really something to complain so much of it like some of users do?
What I want to say this is a very good phone not just for the price but it has right now more than some phones priced this much like the samsung A5 2016/2017 phones..
And I do belive that we will get not just the android O but also the needed support for it.. my opinion is it is like only 10 months on the marked and I think that Huawei is going to at some later point give the source code and needed support.. I am thinking thay just dont wont to give it all right at the very beginig of the phone.. so I always say the best is yet to come.. or It will be for me disapointed as some of you already are..
So I am still hoping
Thanks for your reply @Dominikrod. If what is actually going on is "the best possible" from Honor, then they are really bad at that.
People will always find something to complain about, but in this case, it is something that they (Honor) promised and they are not fulfilling. Imagine unboxing your phone and notice it have an inferior processor or half the RAM as announced. May be a little exaggerated, by I feel I'm not getting all that was promised.
I got this phone expecting to use great custom roms because of the XDA-Honor collaboration, which just seem like a scam from Honor by not releasing the kernel source.

Hii @fernandoarafat
And yes if it is the best possible wich is Huawei doing right now I think
it is still good enough but thats just my opinion
But yes I do see that this promise thing you all are saying made you all disappointed
in Huawei..
But nobody is saying if they ever gave a time limit like when they will be releasing anything
to the XDA community... all I hear is no more Huawei I wont be buying anymore phones from Huawei
or the other stuff you are disaappointed..
I just have an idea... like if Huawei had talked first with someone who was in charge from the XDA community..
And some of us ( as I know some developers ) were contacting Huawei..
Why don't we ask the ''someone'' from XDA community ( who made this agreement with Huawei )
to ask for all the Huawei owners here on XDA what is going on??
I think we should ask for what is promised and ask
for some answers or some time limit when some of things will happen.
Anybody more intrested?? Or maybe did anybody already spoke to someone
and has already some info regarding this??

Don't know if you remember this one but this is almost laughable!
This was Taylor speaking about their new Software Update Policy.
Taylor Wimberly, a customer acquisition manager at Huawei Technologies (which owns Honor), has even gone so far as to challenge other manufacturers to follow Honor's example. "I hope that by announcing this policy that we can change the industry for the better. Seriously, all OEMs should be doing this and I welcome them to join us."
I just tried to contact the XDA community
But after asking the things I was.. and hitting the red SEND button
to send my message to them.. well it just was sending and sending it forever..
So, I have saved the text in my notepad and will try later to send it
Or some other day..
If I succeed and if I get an answer I will report this back to all of you

Hi brljak83,
I'm not sure a 10 month-old phone counts as new device in this market, it's more of a passing one. The truth is that Huawei started quite nicely at the beginning but everything went down hill after November of last year. If you remember this phone was announced back in July/August and Huawei made all sort of PR stunts to convince prospect buyers that their product was the best choice in the $400 to $450 range, at least here in the USA market. I went ahead and bought for myself the $450 Honor 8 64GB at the beginning of that campaign. The Oneplus 3 was $399 at that time, but I wasn't happy with the way OnePlus treated OP2 and OPX owners, so I didn't wanted to do business with them anymore even though the OP3 was an amazing device for the price. Then OnePlus 3T happened and Huawei coudn't justify the overpriced H8 pricing strategy so retailers started discounting the Honor back in November. Some people may argue that H8 was not competing with the 5.5" screen phones but if you read carefully from the beginning that was their intention all alone. Actually some reviews I read compared it mostly with the OP3 and the Axon 7 since those phones are in the same price range or were.
Now mid May 2017, the OP3/3t and the Axon 7 64GB have Android 7.1.1 since April, plus both phones have been getting more frequent security update patches than the H8. And where are we? Still stuck with Android 7.0, December's Security Patch, battery drain issues and some old bugs that have not been fixed yet.
Now you tell me if Taylor Wimberly's August comment about other manufacturers should follow their example and commitment doesn't seem totally laughable.
What about this?

Hii
Thanks you for that link
I tried last night to contact the XDA community to get some answers
But it failed..
Thanks to you I got someone to contact regarding the partnership
When and if I get an answer I will post it and report it back to all of you
So that all of you will know what has been told to me
Thanks for the help :highfive:
No, I'm not happy.
I didn't buy this phone because of any xda partnership. I only found out about it after. Great!
I bought it because I liked Huawei devices, and despite EMUI being a pain sometimes, it had a lot of features that I did like.
What I did not expect was the endless amount of bugs and issues.
And now, I don't mind a few, it happens. I'm even happy we got an update to 7.0, even if they should have given us 7.1.
What I don't like is going MONTHS without a dime big patch.
Not to mention, due to "low sales", they're going to be pulling out of the US, so all of us will lose all support for our devices.
So no, forget it. I'm voting with my wallet and not buying another Huawei.
And you're right, everyone does say that. But I don't buy Samsung because of their terrible software and bloat. I don't buy LGs because of their bootlooping, and now I won't buy Huawei because of their piss poor support.
It's not about finding the "perfect phone" it's about finding a company that cares at least a little bit in fixing their bugs and meeting their commitments.
Which Huawei clearly isn't doing.
Hii @SolarisSixth
Well, it is your opinion for this phone and I do respect it..
But for me I am not bothered so much by some of the bugs.. And I have them too..
And what I would say to you as an advice from my own experiance becouse I had a lots of phones
like LG or Samsung or Sony or iPhone it is always the same story
Belive me always they say bad or week support I wont buy it again..
So you will have to choose your next phone wisely not to end disappointed again in the same way..
Do a lot of reading about your next phone couse otherwise you will end up again disappointed
Why
Couse it is by all of them the same way and the same treatment
The only thing what I know is for the very most expensive phones ( Flagships ) they get a bit more
treatment and a faster treatment couse it is the best company gives to the customers and it is
the phone that represents the company as the best one they have for that year.. and then you get
a bit better support for bugs and stuff.. couse they dont want to be bad by giving the most expensive one
wich should represent the best face of the company
So if money is not an issue for you and you already choose with your wallet then go for the
most expensive one and still if you get such a phone still be happy with what you get..

However, kernel source release, which Honor tells us will happen in the near future for the Honor 8
Click to collapse
 There is a broad definition about "near future". Also, legally they HAVE to share kernel source, but who cares about the law anyway?
I have also a Honor 7. They stop supporting roughly 1 year after release. No source code, no Nougat update. I thought they improved something, but apparently no. What a sucker!
It's up to anyone to deal in whatever manner they see fit with Huawei/Honor false promises. What is not debatable is if it's fair to demand for those promises being kept.
I'm not expecting anything besides what the brand promised. And for that I cannot be pointed as being over-demanding or wanting the impossible.
I was afraid of ZTE Axon support but apparently they lead the game, a long with OP and Sony. And given the lottery regarding quality of components Huawei P10, it's just all a big red flag not to spend a cent with the brand.
For now, I will keep the H8 and milk it as much as I can, until I see fit to change. For another brand, obviously.
So here I am to report it back to all of you
This maybe some good news afterall..maybe
It is regarding the partnership with XDA and to give the source code to us.

Well, i bought this phone at the end of March, this year. I bought it for 329€ on Amazon, and for that price at this specs i think it'a a very good phone, also considering that other similar phones costs even double this price sometimes. Afrer this i tried the phone and i just love it now. Fast, superb fingerprint sensor, good camera, good in gaming etc. The only thing i complain for is the GPU, could be better... However, talking about the software and updates, i think that we will get at least 7.1.1 (if Honor respect their promises). I'm not just talking however, i got in touch with Honor USA on Twitter and that's what they told me:
http://imgur.com/a/OSmLv Screen 1
http://imgur.com/a/RBBFb Screen 2
Ps. The first screen is from a pic that i saw on internet, related to another conversation with Honor USA (not mine). I just sent them this pic and tried to get a confirm from them...wich in the 50% maybe they gave me. Now i don't know if they will relase Android 7.1.1 with EMUI 5.1 someday, but i hope to see it. No hopes for Android O however...
What do you think?

News for Leeco phones

The new CEO wants to go back to tv and media. Hopefully s.o. will be buying Leeco's smartphone section and is just putting a new name on these nice devices
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-31/new-ceo-of-leeco-s-listed-arm-vows-to-dismantle-founder-s-vision
He also said " Leshi can build a business around its existing network by combining its TV and mobile audience" so obviously its not bad news. Why you all guys just think every news is bad news and you guys gives tittle. If Jim is replacing to automobile section and now they are more focusing on restructuring which is good. Atleast they are working not shutting their business and leaving market. Stay positive and please stop give such tittle.

I don't think you understand the article right, as you look at the beginning of the part of your: " combining its TV and mobile audience" quote, it starts with:
"The aim is to focus around the smart TVs it produces..."
So it is not meant phones as they say mobile audience, but their streaming appearance.
Concerning phone sections already the headlines are telling us new Ceo wants to go back to their roots tv and media.
Or what about
“When a company is in a tough spot, it’s a good chance for a restructuring,” he said. “Our goal is to stop burning cash and bring Leshi back to profitability as soon as possible."
Is all that meant positive for the international growing phone section (which has never burned money we know )?
SO please explain me how I understand the article wrong once more and give me a better title please
Just want to give some news about leeco, and give that an appropriate title (and these are bad news for the phone section), so as I still have holidays I will stay extremely positive, thx for advices, lol.
See man !!! No one wants to finish his business even Jim is trying hard. It's not like they will abandon their whole mobile section. So chill, last few months they give 21s beta update to india. They are missing something. Even they denied the rumor mill of leaving india too. Now i would have 1year completed with le2. Only somehow i have to give another year or so on ( doesn't matter company exist or not) i will change my mobile. And thank god i never invested in their tv or other things. If they want to exist they will do probably everything yes that last worthy try to survive. Well enjoy your holidays, buddy.
Ya right, I don't think that it will effect us phone owners much now. Hopefully they will be able to release a Nougat version still. It is sad for the future. This Leeco is my first china phone with a homogenous display brightness, I tried Nubia and ulefone before which was very negative concerning this.
I would have bought a Leeco again, I like our Huawei Mate look very much.

I dont know why everyones heavily concerned that LeEco may never push the Nougat update out, yes I know LeEco is in a bad spot but, I dont know everything in detail regarding the current status of the company.
Honestly I think they will release a Nougat update for the Le S2/S3 and the Le Pro3, may not be now but im positive at least before the end of Q3 of this year
Just bad business if they dont release it, theres a lot of people who are satisfied with their devices and I dont see them failing to release Nougat anytime soon(again stupid mistake if so)
Well 5 people can develop a fully functional ROM Don't know why leeco is neglecting their mobile users if only leeco starts providing regular updates soon people will start trusting leeco and this may increase sales, for now they should drop EUI altogether as it requires so much work and concentrate of stock AOSP with added features .
never mind. delete

What's your ETA for the Android O update?

So, a few sources say that our devices will receive the Android O update very soon and to pass the time, why not share our expected or assumed OTA roll-out dates? I think that we will receive the update by the end of this month. What about you?
Agreed. I think they will probably release a rollback package or something like that with the original firmware to go along with it (7.0).

It's ironic how you say this topic is irrelevant when you only reply with, "it's coming" which indicates absolutely nothing. This is a thread for everyone's expected ETA as the official rollout date is still unannounced. On another note, hopefully I won't deal with dense users like I did on the Le 2 forums, shudders.

From everything that I've read and taking Honor's past into consideration I think we may have to wait until March, which makes little to sense to me.
Why isn't Honor putting a little more effort into marketing this device? I've bought a half a dozen so far, primarily for friends that were still using phones from 3-5 years ago. They all love it and of course, coming from older devices, they feel like this device is a flagship!
Only real thing I miss is NFC, but my watch has it. 2.4 GHz is what I use for everything but my video streaming devices. I really could care less it still has a MicroUSB port.

You seem to be a very Nice and Thoughtful friend.. To purchased not only 1 of these devices for yourself.. but to gift over $1,200.00 U.S.D. / 985 EURO's to friends to update their devices.. is truly a friend indeed :good:

It's certainly not the fastest..
Or.. has the best display...
Or.. the most RAM..
Why not the View 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, One Plus 5T, Pixel, S8, Note 8 ???
What brought a man of your means to the Honor 7X.. I'm really curious to know if you don't mind sharing..
As a software developer I own a plethora of devices and usually carry a minimum of 2 devices. Generally I am very conscious of the condition of my devices and despite the fact the majority of them never leave an office environment, they are all plastered in screen protectors and cases, it seems like they become more fragile every year. The S8 has been my secondary to my Pixel XL 2 since I got it, but as soon as I received the Honor 7X I put the S8 in the drawer. The 7X runs naked and I'm not worried about dropping it. It has enough of what I need. I run package Disabler and remove most of EMUI and Huawei's bloat, with Pixel launcher installed, I have a very close to stock Android on a rugged unit that's as tough as a 90s Nokia!

A Pretty Compelling Reason To Remain Or Return To Stock

Guys & Gals.. Get Your Popcorn...
Good Times are close at hand for HONOR 7X owners ready to recieve the OTA...
https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-oreo-emui-8-pro-9i-7x/
Here's hoping..
I'm New To Honor..
And I must say.. I'm impressed with the way that they handle their business.
After reading this quote from a View 10 article here on XDA.. I see that the Huawel / Honor Managemnt, R&D and Marketing divisons are really working towards catering to the Development Community.. More than I've seen in recent memeory in this age of "Lock Down This" and "No Signature Keys For That" era.. With Oreo & Project Treble and FULL ENCOURAGEMENT from this company in regards to Customizing each users experience to whatever level they disire.. This Says A Lot about their target market... (Huawei / Honor: It would not hurt to do this with the 7X either.. :good: )
Here's the quote:
“We are opening the AI source and bootloaders for the Honor View 10 to developers to be able to have access not only the AI APIs, but also root and give the opportunity ROMs,” an Honor spokesperson wrote in a post on the XDA Forums. “We want to see what some of you can do by having access to our AI ecosystem.”
What’s more, Huawei also said that it’ll supply 1,000 developers with Honor View 10 units to get popular custom ROM developers off the races, and that it’s already in contact with the Paranoid Android and LineageOS teams. If you’re a developer and interested in nabbing a phone for yourself, you can apply for one here. Alternatively, Huawei’s taking nominations for developers in the official announcement thread.
The Honor Open Source Program for the Honor View 10’s pegged for a late January 2018 rollout, and it’ll be exciting to see what comes of it. With access to Huawei’s open AI ecosystem, there’s no telling what exciting applications and ROMs developers will make.
Thanks a lot
How exactly do I return to stock. The only thing I've done so far is unlock the boot loader. Is there anyway to re-lock it?
I'm So Sorry..

Sir.. there is no way to get back to stock.. unless you have a supported variant at the DC website ( Link is somewhere in the 7x threads )
UPDATE: I FOUND THE LINK FOR YOU .. GOOD LUCK!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/unbrick-restore-stockrom-dc-phoenix-t3733347
Everyone, I'M SO VERY SORRY I EVEN POSTED THE LINK.
At the time I really believed Honor had their Sh!t together... and when they posted this:
"Honor View 10 and the soon-to-launch Honor 9 Lite come with EMUI 8.0 out of the box. Devices like Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9i, Honor 7X, and Honor 8 Lite, on the other hand, will get it in the near future"
Which is the last paragraph from the article... I thought they were being Honest & Truthful.
I don't know about you... but I don't consider *Will Get It In The NEAR Future* as being months and months away.
And now we know their is no Rhyme or Reason as to how they roll ANY update out.. it's almost a month after I 1st started the thread.. and they are not even close to even getting the 230 mb face unlock / ar update to 100% of devices...
Let's not even go there with EMUI & OREO.
So Again, I just want to say Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up besides mine.. to be let down so hard.

Yeah dude I don't think Honor should be held accountable for a vague release window speculated by XDA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen any direct statements from Honor promising Q1 2018; all I've seen is a bunch of "through the grapevine" stuff and hearsay going back months.

Well I believe honor paid xda for some sponsored content? it's called advertising, not "sleeping together." But that doesn't mean everything xda says about honor is gospel. Plus xda sourced android authority, not huawei/honor, in the original article you posted.

What Does Any Of This Have To Do With The Way Honor Is Handling Business?
What does this have to do with Scattered Updates from Region to Region? (See Pics)
What does this have to do with Kernel Source being RELEASED IN DECEMBER.. And No Stock Nougat Image in site after 60 days?
If Honor is "Paying" for sponsored Advertisment, why are they allowing Mis-Information to be written and not corrected?
Timetables Not Being Met... Scattered Security Patches All Over The Planet... Not Even Able To Release *Retiring Nougat Stock Images* the list goes on and on...

Look, there's plenty of valid criticisms to be made of Huawei/Honor, and you should switch to an OEM that is faster with updates if that's something that's important to you. But you keep saying they lied/broke some promise and you've still provided ZERO evidence of any such promise.

No, comments from random xda users do not prove that there was any kind of promise from Honor. If Honor made a statement saying Q1 Oreo for 7x, you should be able to link directly to that statement. But I feel like you're probably just trolling me so I'm done with this. Peace out :good:
Look dude, if you're unhappy with the phone or the service then jump ship. Put your phone on swappa.com and grab another one that is more to your liking. First you're writing about how people shouldn't be rooting and installing twrp and how we should leave everything stock. Now you're saying your sick of this and tired of that. It's tiresome man. **** happens. You think Huawei is the first oem to miss a deadline or say something and not come through? Every manufacturer has done something that some of the user base didn't like. Can't keep everyone happy.
Let's think hypothetically for a second. Let's say the pushed the oreo update right and it had numerous bugs and was just awful. Then you'd be right back in here saying they rushed things and you'd be complaining more. The only thing that I see as a problem is that they haven't released the stock firmware yet for the L24 but then again the phone has been out for not even 3 months. Could be worse. I bought my wife a note 3 before branded at&t and they never even allowed the bootloader to be unlocked. Rooting and putting a rom on there was a pain in the ass. You have your opinion and I have mine but here lately it seems all you want to do is piss and whine about how unhappy you are. You stated in another post how you might not be around by the time they release oreo, well why put off til tomorrow what you can do today, do everyone a favor.
The Bottom Line..

I know my phone's station in the Hierarchy of things.
It's a $199.00 bucks.
I'm cheap... what can I say?
And one day sometime in 2018... ALL 7x's will have: EMUI 8.0, OREO 8.0, STOCK IMAGES, PROJECT TREBLE and just maybe.. everyone on the planet will actually have the Same Current Security Update at the same time...
Right???

You Are Not Saying Anything...
What in the world are you going on an on about?
Why do you keep quoting me?
Why are you still even concerned about my thread?? my opinion???
NOTING IS GOING TO CHANGE...
The 7x is... a bottom tier device... are you having trouble excepting that ? (DON'T RESPOND) it's a fact.
Are you having trouble excepting that Security Updates are at different levels all over the Planet.. I'm sorry but it's a fact.
Are you having trouble excepting that a device that is rooted at this present time has no easy way to return to stock if needed for WHATEVER reason after being on the market for over 2 months ? I'm sorry but that is also a fact.
If the taste of that is Unpalatable to you sir then I will advise for the 2ND TIME:
Don't Read My Opinions..
Don't Read My Threads...
It really is that simple..
I understand what buying a bottom tier device is all about.
Do You ?
Let's see if Honor can get all those updates out.. I for one, will believe it when I see it.. because there are complaints all over the planet... Past and Present.
There are those that understand what I'm saying... And those like you that don't... I've gotten Plenty of "Thanks!" concerning my opinion of Honor and their entry level 7x.
You need to just accept what it is and what are the facts as of this day and time with this sub-company of Huawei.
And stop these personal attacks! Why Are You Doing This?
Don't get mad at me for bringing these FACTS to light.

That's not evidence, that's just a bunch of people chatting.
By the way, when you say 'the defense rests' that means you have no more evidence to present. If this is the only "evidence" you have, this means you actually have lost the case because you cannot present any further evidence.
--> I have no dog in this race nor do I own this phone, but I did think it was funny that you rested your case after not presenting any evidence
Yeah I'm done listening to your nonsense. You're just one of those people who like to argue just for the sake of arguing. Ofc I understand this is an entry level/bottom tier device but at the same time I'm not the one *****ing about it either so there's a fact for you. I bought this phone because for the price it is a decent phone and works fine for what I need it for. I knew it was new on the market and that development would take some time to pick up pace. I didn't know much about Huawei but I don't see them being very different from any other manufacturer. Most companies don't give specific dates. It's always the blanket statement time frame estimates. But apparently you live in a world where everything is on time exactly when it was supposedly said and everything runs perfect and if there is any deviation of how you think it should be you throw a temper tantrum like a 3 yr old that didn't get their juice box. Grow up. **** happens. Answer all you want but I'm not replying to any more crying about how unhappy you are and how unfair big bad Huawei is being.
Finally..
EXCELLENT!
Finally....
Neither of you bring Any Relevance to what this thread is about..
Because you are not changing anyone's mind here..
The people have spoken all over the planet about the 7x and the issues they've had with patches, updates, past experiences, lack of concern on Honor's part.. etc.
I've spoken of why would anyone really want to root *with no way back* and the 7x having been out for MONTHS and folks have no way to return to stock.
And mainly: TO RECIEVE THE O.T.A.' s
You have to be stock to get those.
You see people asking "how can they return to stock? " throughout the threads.. and god bless'em they have no way to do so.
That Sucks.
Everything said on XDA DOES NOT APPLY TO *YOU*
If I took everything everyone has said in the last 6 years I've been hanging out here to My Personal Heart.... I would have lost my mind long ago.
I LOVE my 7x... I accept it's the entry level deivce.. thus the $199.00 price.. my opinion is you get ZERO advantage rooting at this time.
It has Themes, DPI adjustments, the ability to remove apps without root, great battery life, and decent speed.. even with the 3/32 variant that I own.. And your $199.99 dollar investment runS *100% Stable and 100% Fully Functional*... you don't need backups of stock firmware.... but, as a company.. don't promote rooting and a system to unlock one's bootloader.. and make it a One-Way Suicide trip to Root Oblivion and not extend a hand in the form of stock firmware to pull them out should they need it.
Someone said in a Quote " Hell they had firmware mold to install it on everyone's 7x... why can't they just release that? "
Makes Perfect Sense To Me..
Again I Don't Like Being Lied To.
If the articles that were out there in Jan. stating these updates are "Coming Soon" and they were not.. Honor should have jumped in an clarified dates..... Immediately.
They did not.

[poll] Xiaomi A2 Future, is it dead or promising

So i bought this phone since it released in my country, i bought the 6Gb ram version and i was too excited about, Android one phone with great specs according to the price, but i am a lil bit disappointed right now,
The update releases is a bit confusing as we can see what's happening with pie updates.
The development is too slow as there no working twrp and related stuff.
Forgive my ignorance as coming from HTC M8 with its big development from its early stages , this phone disappointed me, but dont get me wrong i am happy with the phone regarding its battery life what annoying me a bit but the fast charger make it up to me.
So based on ur experience guys what do u expect guys and is the fourms going to be on fire soon or is it going to be like that all along ?
its going to be alive for sure, but you won't get first-class support, also for sure. this phone is good for people who are on a budget yet want to have a fairly up-to-date software (including security updates) and don't expect pixel-level support. If you are one of these people, A2 is probably one of the best phones you can get. But if you expect a pixel-level support then you should probably go buy pixel
It will get better, but don't expect anywhere near the support your old phone had, that was a flagship and a very successful one, I don't I've tried a quarter of the roms that were available for my m7
Yu are being given more than just descent specs for a more than descent price but no updates should be fast like google pixel ... well not gonna happen
Software r&d is not cheap as yu can see many here on xda develop on in there spare time and with donations and i dont think even though xiaomi have great revenue and sales they are yet ready to speed up the process (FOR ME UPDATES ARE ALREADY FAST ENOUGH EVEN NOW BETTER THAN MY SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 THAT WAS WORTH 49999 rs)
Moral of the story is = just because yu are given good hardware at a fine price dont expect them to give yu fast software support too ( only if yu have a pixel )
Otherwise apple phones get ios for really long time( enjoy there new emoji in every damn update )

Mates i didn't expect pixel level of support at all, it just i didnt think Android One phone would get low development and update like that,
I can run Android pie on my M8 which pretty old phone now, but u cant run it on my 2018 Android one device, does that make any sense to you mates ??
On the other hand pocophone got it's official TWRP and keep being updated while the price difference is t that much though.

Why the hell are yu guys quoting me when i am making the exact same point that yu made
This is a budget phone not pixel lile ( COMPARED TO MY S7 JUST TO MAKE A POINT and even if my s7 is a flagship it gets security patches at end of each month whereas this MI A2 Gets updated on start of each month and that too sometimes more than one update )
I used to use an OPO which had and to a certain extent still has a lively developer scene (It's been a few months since the first Pie popped in the forums for it).
I don't neither expect nor foresee that sort of activity over here. This is a mid-range budget phone.
Then again, at least, bootloader unlock is hassle free.

I came from an OPO myself. And kind of disappointed with lack of development for now. It's a new phone and hopefully it'll pick up. It's a good phone don't get me but it's a "meh" or "alright" phone after a few weeks. Definitely a forgettable phone. Feel like I should've gone pocophone fone (1)
