Redmi Note 3 Dropping Bands - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Its ok if MODs want to delete this i have posted same thread in Q&A section
Hello,
I am using Redmi Note 3 SD version. I have used it since December 2016 with Jio(India)
It worked perfectly. Now after using it with Vodafone 4G , i faced issue with 4G and most of the time got 3G network which i thought was restricted to that carrier.
Now i switched back to Jio and 4G drops constantly in some areas where other phones work perfectly with same SIM
I unlocked Bootloader flashed old MIUI version and rooted my phone
I installed Network Guru in that
for Band 40(2300) it drops constantly with LTE RACH being Radio Link Failure and Failure at MSG2
When i lock it to BAND 5(850) it works perfectly. Can someone help me find out whats the issue? I would love to get back to using all the bands as this may prevent me from using network in some areas

AT&T LTE Question

Quick question, I just got my moto x pure today and swapped my AT&T sim card from my note 5. I noticed when I make calls I use the HSPA network and not LTE. Any thoughts? I figured I would ask here first prior to dealing with AT&T directly.
Did it operate the same way in your Note 5? I use T-Mobile and it has always operated like that for me on all my devices and it will go back to LTE when the call is complete.
I believe that's to be expected. That's how both my S6 and OnePlus One were/are. (On AT&T)
My M8 does that as well. I don't know that AT&T has enabled VoLTE yet.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
Moto X Pure does not support volte on ATT yet.
That makes complete sense, I'll have to swap my sim back to the note5 and see if it supports volte. Bummer though, its useful in some situations when traveling.

Every phone I've had that didn't use "Stock" At&t signal bars, due to running a custom ROM, switched to HSPA.
This is completely normal behavior.
I agree with EVERYONE here. This has been the same since AT&T deployed LTE. No calls take place over LTE. The calls rely on the HSPA network. Once the call is over, LTE displays very quickly. Nothing to worry about OP.
Anyone can confirm if Band 12 works with a tmobile Sim?

Nexus 6P has LTE problems with Truemove H network (Thailand)

Many users of Nexus 6P Nexus 5X Nexus 6 have LTE problems with Truemove H network (Thailand).:crying:
The problems started around late July, 2016.
Many users reported LTE dropped , lost , can't connect , etc.
The others network provider do not have this LTE problems.
( AIS , DTAC , etc.)
Now it is not clear that Truemove H doing something with LTE signal and/or network devices.
( May be another phones/tablet might have those LTE issues too.)
The temporary solution is select the prefer network mode to 3G only.
Have you tried pure nexus ROM? I had a LTE problem with RR ROM and switched to pure nexus. Phone works flawlessly now.

None of ROMs include stock ROM will made LTE work good with TrueMove H network.

Thank God I thought I was having a hardware issue with my Nexus 6P. I'm having exactly the same problem with TrueMove H in Thailand. Whenever you choose LTE as preferred network, your cellular network will disconnect and there's no way to get connected again until you change network preference to 3G and reboot the phone. So the only workaround is to choose 3G as preferred network, which means that you are unable to use 4G. What's strange is that 4G on iPhone and TrueMove H works perfectly fine. I'm running Pure Nexus ROM but it seems like people with stock ROM and no root have this issue as well. I've spoken to True customer support for 3 times and they have not been able to fix the issue.
Do you have any link to a discussion about this issue so that we can follow up for updates?
That's a issue here in the states as well. The Weird thing is, it's only the Nexus 6P being affected. They're saying Google should have a fix Monday August 8th. That's T-Mobile & Verizon, for sure. I've heard all carriers. Apparently it's a GPS Issue. They telling carriers to have us turn off out GPS, & restart our phones while the carrier resets our location. This is helping some.

Thanks. From the discussion in the Facebook group it looks the solution is to downgrade radio to 2.50. Have you tried it?
By the way, 4G worked fine when I went to Hua Hin for holiday and stopped working when I returned to Bangkok. So it looks like the issue is isolated to areas like Bangkok.

I just flashed https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087016478 for 2 hours and still live in Nonthaburi Province.
I found that my RR ROM is good with this Radio and 4G LTE also work fine.
I wonder why A.O.B. mobileshop technician know 2.50 radio will fix the issue with Truemove H.

RELIANCE JIO 4G SIM ( INDIA ) Nexus 4 Issue..

Recently I bought a Reliance Jio Sim for my nexus 4. But When I plugged it in, It doesn't register on any network.
Anybody knows how to make it work..
I tried changing Cellphone network in Settings to LTE. (didnt work)
I also tried 2nd method which i saw in one of Unbox Therapy Video.
I.e. dialing *#*#4636#*#* from dialer app
then selecting Phone Information .
Inside that Set Preferred network type to LTE/GSM auto (PRL)
That to didnt work.
Anybody knows any work around.
Thanks in advance.

Our Nexus 4 is an 3G device even if you switch it to LTE(4G) it wont register, because Jio and all those other 4G sim in India uses different Band than aboard carriers.

Which band does 4G network in US work on ..?
Taken from Quora:
Reliance holds the license for 2300 MHz spectrum all over the country plus, 800 MHz spectrum in 10 circles and 1800 MHz spectrum in 6 circles for all kinds of services. 1800 MHz band is one of the most popular bands for deploying LTE services across the world, due to considerable advantages over 2300 MHz band. Around 44% of global 4G networks are deployed over 1800 MHz spectrum.

Swapnil .. 4G wont work in our device.. Only 1-2 bands are supported on our nexus 4 ..
New 4G band auction is going to happen very soon .. Maybe then we can get 4G from some carrier..
But its not worth it .. As i have read somewhere the antennae is there in phone but not the amplifier... So you'll get very weak signals all the time and it'll drain your battery very fast..

Even though you have Nougat on your phone, the modem is still the old one (because you might be knowing that Google doesn't support this phone since last 2 years i.e. after lollipop).
And as I mentioned earlier in my post, JIO can be used on Nexus 4, see this post on facebook.
What Nougat ROM do you have BTW?
Nitin
Is LTE really working on Nexus 4 in India? If so, on what carriers? If someone would be kind enough to confirm. Its just that, other than one person everyone is saying no. Really like my Nexus 4, don't want to buy a new phone
PS: Haven't bought a 4G sim yet, just waiting for confirmation.
I came to know that it only works in LTE band 4; and this band is not used in India. So LTW WILL NOT WORK in India. Don't know why that guy posted that on facebook (to which I linked on last page)
Nitin
Nexus 4 doesnt support TD LTE even after flashing hybrid modem. heck it doesnt even support remianing LTE bands. so no go
This really sucks guys, considering we would have achieved free services till 31st dec

Shocked to read this. Expectations from a device released in late 2012. But i think you can try multiboot kitkat/jellybean for LTE hacks with mm/n till dec 31.
My N4 is on your build NitrogenOS 7.1.1 but Jio ? Have you tried jio on N4?

Fine, we're only left with an option to upgrade our hardware ??? 4G on N4 is only possible when some network carriers get band 4 1700/2100 AWS
see this
Ok...so u cant use jio...its ok...take 4g 'IDEA' sim ...recharge I with 4g one month plan......then turn this sim on in any 4g mobile.....use some internet...then take it out out and put it in any 3g phone....u will be able to use free calling feature and 1gb daily internet on 3g speed.....

V20 LTE Band and Compatibility (vs995, h910)

Hello everyone! I'll start by saying I've done a lot of reading and searching, and I can't find my answers, so that's why I'm posting.
I recently acquired two LG v20s, which I intend to use as my primary daily handsets. The models are the h910 (att) and VS995 (verizon). Both have TWRP and magisk etc. I love the phones so far and everything is peachy, except one ... sordof big question/issue. LTE bands!! I've seen several people on XDA talk about the bands but I can't determine a clear answer. My first and primary question is, DOES the h910 support band 12/17?!?! Using network signal guru app, band 12 is listed. From what I understand (from what I have read) band 12 IS supported, and 17 is actually a thing of the past. If your phone has band 12, it can pick up all band 17 towers no problem, essentially meaning 12 has replaced 17. However, my h910 WILL NOT use band 12. Not if I force it, not on its own, nada. This is in places where I know band 12(17) exists, and is the strongest signal. In fact virtually everywhere, around the area I live (chattanooga TN). What actually really surprises me is that the phone gets great LTE reception everywhere I am 95% of the time, without band 12/17. I've checked numerous times (its kindof an ongoing thing...) and I've gotten every single other band, (2,4,5,30) usually with great reception and acceptable or good network speed. But never band 12. I can hold my galaxy note 4 right next to it, and the note will almost always be using band 17, and the LG refuses. Again , I can lock bands with Network signal guru, and still no bueno. If I lock the lg on only band 12, it will simply revert to HSPA.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Are other h910 users able to get band 12? Could I have a faulty handset? Is it software or hardware related? Just curious if anyone else has any info that could be helpful. I have noticed people in other random forums saying their v20 gets poor signal compared to other ATT devices, and I'm wondering if this is why (no band 12). Most people wouldn't know how to check what bands they're getting... or even know what "bands" are at all.
And a quick question about the vs995... I put an att sim in it, and got absolutely no signal at all on any band. Whats up with that?
Thanks in advance folks.
Seems US telecom companies are just weird I have 3 V20 phones that I use as 4G modem when in the country. My Vs995 worked for this for years but suddenly will not use mobile data here in Norway, tried factory reset. 1 910 that does not get phone signal at all - gave up on it, transferred screen and case to the VS995 which was worn, had broken screen. My Korean F800 with android 9 works fine. US carriers place artificial locks on bands it seems.

LTE on a Sprint S5 on a European network provider?

Hey everyone,
First of all I want to say that I am not very experienced with flashing. I have done it 2-3 times before on my other 2 phones, so I will not undestand everything you say but I'll try to do.
Yesterday I got a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 from a friend. As far as I know it is unlocked so I decided to put another ROM that doesn't have that much bloatware. I first tried LineageOS (the latest nightly build for SM_G900P), flashed TWRP before that with Odin, but then I noticed that I cannot connect to my carrier, so then I decided to flash this ROM:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...ment/rom-g900ppca-6-0-1-stock-rooted-t3387717
I flashed the ROM from the recovery, then I flashed the bootloader and modem with Odin. After that success! The rom fired up after 15 minutes of loading and there it was. I was connected to a carrier and had mobile data and I went to bed. So today I noticed that I couldn't get LTE everywhere I go and I started browsing the forums, but I couldn't find anything that could help. The only thing I found was this https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059 , but all the download links were down.
So I decided to directly ask you guys and gals if you have a solution on how to get LTE signal on my phone.
Thank you in advance and sorry if I misspelled or said something incredibly stupid.
From what I know, the best connection you can get with an S5 in most countries in Europe is 3G. Sprint has the necessary band (2100 MHz) that connects to 3G in most countries in Europe. However, when it comes to LTE, the sprint S5 only has bands 25 (1900MHz), 26 (850MHz), and 41 (2500MHz). This is fine in the US for the Sprint Network, but European countries rely mainly on bands 3 (1800MHz), 7 (2600MHz), or 20 (800) for LTE, which are not found in the sprint variant.
I actually spent lots of time myself trying to unlock more bands using the link you posted, but I just couldn't do it. I couldn't access some menus that were necessary for the unlock during the process.
Also, from what I know, the carrier/data connection can only be acquired by using a stock rom such as the one you found. Custom roms like LineageOS will not connect to a carrier.
So every time i travel to Europe with my Sprint S5, i just put stock rom, and have to stick to 3G. So, that's the current situation with Sprint and LTE in Europe. I would be happy to hear any success stories.
I can confirm Band 3 1800 Mhz LTE works on Galaxy S5 900P Sprint on a network in Europe.
