is there any app (like Quill) for using S-Pen - LineageOS News & Discussion

Hallo all
Using (and enjoying) CM without gapps for long time on my Samsung Galaxy Note4.
I'll install LineageOS now.
There is only one Question, that I couldn't get answered by searching:
I was using the app "Quill", like a Notebook for writing und drawing with the Pen. This ist importend to me, so I need that kind of app. I couldnt find it or any simular in F-Droid or anywhere else.
Do anybody know how to get Quill or another app?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, f-droid is not easy to search. May be you have more luck in play store. Use yalp from f-droid.

Hey kurtn
thanks a lot! I never heard about yalp. Sounds perfect for me.
I will try it when lineage is installed (seems not so easy like I hoped).

Tanks, for the Tip to yalp!
With it, I found now LectureNotes. Loos like a realy great app with amazing configurations. No way to try them all... But it seems to work how it looks.

You might also look at Write from Stylus Labs. I've moved over from S-Note to Write and use it daily.

When I search it on the Notebook using the browser to go to the yalp-store, Write is V. 1.9.6 and looks save. But when I search in the App (Yalp Store V. 0.35) on my phone, Write is V. 1.9.5 and I get a Warning:
"360 Security deletes Write documents. Attempts to contact the 360 developers have been unsucsessfull. "
Do you know what that meens?

Sorry for not replying earlier. I didn't see your reply.
Sorry I don't know what that means. I only use the Google Play Store and so don't know about Yalp. If you go to http://www.styluslabs.com/ you can click on the Android link that will take you to the Google Play Store.
Hope this helps.

@bunk3m:
First I found LectureNotes and was impressed. But after realising, that I cant get the Pro-Version installed without playstore or amazon,-app I had a look to Write.
It looks little bit more simple, but brings all I need. And the daily work is running easy with it. Perfect!
Thanks for your link!

Does this app exist?

I want to be able to take notes quickly on my computer and have them readily availble on the mobile. Sounds easy but cant find the right app - any suggestions?
What would be cool is if the notes app was a chrome extension, you click it on type the note and its on the handset. Would be text and numbers and for telephone numbers it would be one-click to dial.
Hi
I have no idea If this exists or not, but if it doesnt it doesn't sound tooooo hard. I want to experiment with Android den and this sounds like a nice learner project. If you're willing to wait what might be several months (!) then maybe I can work with you make it?
Paul
3banana app lets you sync notes from your web browser to your phone.
Work pretty well. Not sure how fast it is for your use.
I think there's a Google tasks extension for chrome, use that for notes. Download on your phone something like SSI gTasks or another app that can read Google tasks and there you go, notes on your phone from your browser.

K9 is not bad, but I would prefer to have on one side the list of messages and on the other side (same screen) the message I selected...
I have seen the demo of Mail for Honeycomb, and this is what I am looking for. I don't think it exists for Froyo...

I'm sure they'll come up with more tablet friendly email clients as tablets become more popular. K-9 is by far the best one for phones anyways. Touchdown is great for Exchange use.
I feel the same! If we have a 10 inches display why can't we have a better e-mail client. We can allways use webmail, but isn't the same!

How did you install Mail'd? I do not get it to work.

Mail'd installed & working
Hello I followed all the steps, and could install MAIL'D!!!
This is just fine. Exactly what I was looking for.
Al
What did you do exactly?
I put the NI.Email.App.Installer.zip on the SD card.
I reboot with the ClockWorkMod recovery.
Finally I flashed the ZIP.
Eventually you can try to unzip the file and then manually install the APK file that is located inside.

Working great on my folio.
Sent from my Folio 100 using Tapatalk
Mail'd is an example of well made app for tablets! Taking advantage of larger screens and using a very intuitive GUI.
Mail'd is great, use it on the the FolioNotion-Mod but installing just the app on FolioMod1.4 dont work for me.
Did everything as described (Install the zip with Clw, reebot after install) but when try to unlock after first reboot after install Folio hangs and i have too shotdown and reboot again. After second reboot everything works fine but there is no Mail'd

[Q] Q: thumb keyboard.

Ello guys and girls, just a quick question about the thumb keyboard! I have just installed it on my a500 and I go to use it and it forces close! Why? Is it because I'm a noob and i have set it up wrong or would it be something to do with the install? Thanks

Don't know. I've used it since day 1 on the Acer. Installation should be pretty straightforward (it just installs from the market, assuming you are installing from the market).
Then you enable it in settings and go through the setup choices.
Or did you install from an apk?

Most likely there are other files you either; 1. didn't copy to the right folder, 2. didn't set the permissions properly or both.
I suggest downloading it from the market and paying for it. It is worth the money IMO.
Delete the one you have contour market install from there. I to have been using it from day one.and I pre ordered my tab.typing on it now never one issue.
Thanks to everyone that got back to me, i will get it from the market and see how i get on!

Does the keyboard work in chrome?

Do the BlackBerry keyboard predictions work everywhere? They don't work in chrome for me especially when trying to type in the address bar and on Google.
Is there something that I have to enable?
Nope it doesn't work in chrome, there was a modified keyboard here on xda but the poster removed it.

Just an FYI - I didn't install it because I didn't need it.
Here it is the patched version that theoretically should enable predictions in the search bar and such: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByoPaCCmy-TOMmZ0RGE4QmI2X2s/view?usp=sharing

Thanks. I already installed and using it on my note 9. It has some new features like quick phrase, addition number board... but I really want it to have a number row which appear permanent on top. and predict words can use all time or at least in search bar, chrome... that why I'm trying to find a modified apk with hope that someone did my favors.
I actually don't want to switch to another keyboard cuz I addicted of swiping to get predict words..
Thank for replying.:fingers-crossed:

Adblocker without root?

The ads make google chrome crawl it's do damn laggy , I switched to UC browser and the scrolling is sooo smooth , I couldn't believe, but I missed the google now recommendations ( pulled from my browser history ) and also I like being able to open the tabs I was using on my phone on my laptop , so I thought about getting just an adblock, Ive heard adway it's pretty awesome but it's root only and I don't want to root, specially now with the monthly security updates, any recommendations?

Thanks! I just gave it a try it seems to work but I feel like webpages now take longer to load ? Or am I being paranoid? How do you get rid of the "key" icon on the notification bar? It I pull down the notification bar I get a warning saying that my network is probably being surveiled :/

You cant do anything about that, it will say that for all non root Adblockers. The slower page loading is because the Adblocker has to remove the ads first before showing you the site, which results in a delay. So theres not really a way around it.

OK thank you for the explanation! what really confuses me , is why the "key" icon still shows up even if I don't have chrome opened :/
Your explanation of the delay sounds quite convincing , but still have to ask , do we also get the delay with ablockers with root access ?

No, in fact AdAway makes webpages load faster as the ad server is never even reached. HOSTS file blocking is more seamless than a makeshift VPN for blocking ads over the web and in apps. Also no key icon issues.

The way these non-root adblockers work is by using a local VPN. That's what the key icon is for. It means you're connected to a VPN. Your traffic is being routed through this local VPN and that's how they remove the ads.
Hey, have you tried Firefox mobile? Their adblock add on works well, I found.
Only problem I think is that Firefox mobile will sync with Firefox desktop only as I understand it. That might be a problem if you like Chrome on desktop too.

I just downloaded firefox, and i swear to you I cannot find the block ads settings, and it's not on by default because I see ads, do I need to download a plugin or something?

Yeah not by default. I don't have it here to check first hand, but look around in the menus, there is an option to install add ons or plug-ins not sure how they call it.
Once there search "adblock", you'll find what you need.
It works well when I need it, some websites are absolutely not usable if the pop-ups and other sh*t isn't blocked.

Try Adguard. It's the best one I've used. It even blocked ads in apps so you don't have to pay for ad free versions.
https://adguard.com/en/adguard-android/overview.html

By far the best non-root adblocker I have ever tried (on my S7) and it takes a lot to impress me. Give it a spin, see how it works for you. It blocks ads everywhere. Browser, apps, etc.,.
As for the key that you see in the notifications, it's only there to alert you that you're connected and all traffic is being routed through the VPN (your adblocker is active).

I actually like this much better than Adguard battery wise. Really amazing that way. The only problem is that I use Unotelly DNS on my phone and this messes it up.
