Bug/Problem: Since Oreo update, Sync/Push doesn't work when phone is charging - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Noticed, after the Oreo update that when the phone is charging, some network functions doesn't work.
For example, if I install a app on Google Play, the "Downloading" indicator inside Google Play spins endlessly, I do NOT get the download indicator inside notifications.
As soon as I unplug charger, the apps instantly start downloading.
Same happens with certain other push functions, but the google play installation/update is the easiest way to try it.
Update: G950FXXU1CRAP/G950FOXM1CRAP/G950FXXU1CRAP (1378,65 MB)
Any idea to workaround or any idea to fix the bug?

Since Samsung have pulled all Oreo updates, perhaps that's one of the issues, they are going to fix. Needless to say the CRAP firmware is both no longer available nor will it be the final release.
So I guess wait for the next update & see what happens

CM 5.0.6. Market being all screwy.

i apologize if this has been posted before but i can't seem to find any information on it.
I just recently updated to 5.0.6. (yes i know 7.1. is out but iwant to wait for a black bar mod before i update)
And i started having some really assy issues with the market. all this is on wi-fi as well.
First off, is that it takes a long ass time to load. 20+ seconds where under wi-fi it normally takes maybe 2-3. Then sometimes it randomly reloads for no reason.
when i try to search for things it sometimes takes up to a minute to search
And when i go into downloads, it dosn't load or show anything. the one time it did it showed me as having all my apps, but not downloaded.
However, when i go to install something, it allows me to see my downloads but then it gets stuck on installing even though the statusbar shows it as being installed completely.
Anyone have any ideas of how to fix this? I already tried uninstalling the updates and cache. no change at all.
*EDIT* just updated to CM 5.0.7.1 and the same thing. any ideas?

Battery issue and no updates

For a few days now after charging and taking the phone off the charger every few seconds i get a popup "battery full, please remove charger". This stays this way for 1~4 hours, also battery indicator sticks at 100% during that period, after that it just starts lowering like normal and the popup disappears.
I called samsung and they said i had to go to a local support store, which im going to do in a few minutes.
I told them i wanted to flash newer firmware on my device to see if it helps solve the issue, but i didn't because the 3-button combo isn't working so it's risky. They said my firmware XYJM2 was the latest available, and that i can't update myself. I have to go to a supportstore to get updates. So when froyo comes out i have to go to a support store to get it on my device.
So it seems the 3-button 'problem' isn't a bug, but intentional, to prevent people from violating waranty he said.
I'll update on progress later...

[Q] 4.2.2 Download Manager Battery Drain

I have researched this topic, and haven't found an actual match for it.
I have a Google Nexus 4. My phone is rooted, running stock ROM, and Android 4.2.2. Recently I've been having random battery drain issues. More than once I've taken my phone out to make a call and found it as warm as if I'd been streaming audio, running the GPS and navigating. On one occasion, I pulled my phone out to make a call and discovered it was already quite warm; upon rebooting it I suddenly had a several hours-old emails, a couple of texts and a voicemail from a call I never received. I use this phone at work, and if this issue is causing normal operations to fail, that is completely unacceptable.
I run my phone with minimal services; normally wifi, gps bluetooth and pretty much anything else I don't need at the moment are disabled. The only ongoing processes I have running are K-9 mail checking for email every 15 minutes; the only widget I have is for weather, which updates when I unlock my phone. Normally I get really good battery life, even during periods of heavy usage. A recent 4 hour phone conversation only dropped the charge by 25%. However, when this issue is active, the charge can drop that much in less than an hour doing nothing. If it happens when charging, the charger barely keeps up or loses ground.
I have determined that Download Manager or more likely something that's invoking it is the issue. If I manually terminate DM when I'm having this problem, my power curve returns to normal, and I'm able to recharge at a normal rate. I've never yet had this issue while DM is disabled. Disabling DM also results in the error message "Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" showing at boot and at random other times, which tends to get a bit annoying.
Google Play uses Download Manager and also starts itself periodically, so some of the error messages are likely from GP, especially at boot. However, with DM enabled and GP disabled, I still have the drain issue, so GP isn't what's causing it.
What exactly is it that is invoking Download Manager, and more importantly keeping it running full-bore for extended periods? Does anybody have a list of what processes invoke Download Manager and under what circumstances, or any idea of what might be going on? I'm hoping to identify the actual root cause of this problem and resolve it without other adverse consequences.
I have sync enabled for "backup my data", app data, calendar and contacts, and these do not appear to be affected by disabling DM since the manual sync will still work with no errors with Download Manager disabled.
I have the following processes/apps disabled, so I also think they can be ruled out:
Chrome, Currents, Gmail, Google Korean keyboard, Google Pinyin, Google Play Books, Google Play Magazines, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Music, Google+, iWnn IME, iWnnIME Keyboard (White), News & Weather, Picassa Uploader, Sound Search for Google Play, Tags, Talk, and Wallet.
Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
having the same issue on CM10.1 stable DM runing for a while in random way
disabled DM and getting same gapps errors.

android 4.2.2..
sounds like your phone is constantly downloading updates to your phone(but cant apply because of your root/modded situation). what you should do, because of your 4.2.2, is update your phone or itll keep happening. there have been a MASSIVE amount of bug fixes since 4.2.2 which you arent letting your phone get.

Are you with me?well,i dont think so bro!
phone itself and also pc companion say your device is up to date(4.1.2)
i have exprienced this on many Xperia devices i had by now ,and as you see i had explained that this usually happens just after i finish opening, modifying ,renaming and copying/moving files with any type of file manager or gallery apps and such.
i m going to get assured that the process DownloadManager has relations and interactions with MediaScanning process(at least in Xperia devices). it warms up the device and drains my battery, i have to charge my devices every 6-10 hour's.
im so obsessive about my device behavior, may somebodies else having this issue but nobody minds ever like me.
so plz be more patient reading noobies posts like me
somebody help for God sake!
i thank you in advance

My nexus is already in 4.4.4. There's no more update that can loop DM currently. Yet, after I travelled to Italy and back, battery drains irregularly. Today, I save a .mp3 file from an email from hotmail.com. the download loops for over 50 times before I reboot the phone. After restart, the loop continues. I enforced stop from DM. can we delete Download Manager and replace it by other apps?

Phone automatically installing unwanted apps!

I just traded my sprint lg v20 for this verizon lg g6 vs988 yesterday because I needed a gsm unlocked phone. Now I finally got a phone my son card works in but I've been up all night trying to fix this issue.
Seemingly at random the phone just starts installing "random" apps that I've never used before. Some of them include
Go90
Wish
Yelp
Yahoo mail
And several others I can't remember at the moment but I'm sure ill be reminded soon. I keep uninstalling them and they keep coming back. By the manner which they are installed on sure they are not normal bloatware. They download silently in the background even while I have an active foreground download going.
I've googled the issue and found no resolution. I also noticed the phone charges ridiculously slowly. The phone was also on an outdated firmware with a security patch from 2017. The built in system update would not detect any update for the phone. I had manually download and install the latest update on the computer last night.
After doing this with a completely fresh factory reset these apps were still installing themselves. I then used verizons pc upgrade assistant again and did a firmware repair but skipped the phone backup step so I again would be starting fresh. Again these app's keep installing themselves.
It seems to be on some kind of interval. After so much time that the phone is running it suddenly install another random app or apps I've never heard of before, then after so long all of a sudden some more different apps suddenly appear.
I also tried malwarebytes and of course it says nothing is wrong. Can someone please help me get this sorted?
Which firmware you have?, maybe it would be the best to flash clean stock firmware with LG UP.
You can find latest kdz here..
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-vs988-firmwares/
16a download via verizon upgrade assistant. Would reflashing the kdz via lg up do anything different than verizon upgrade assistant?
Ps I had to retype this message 3 times because half way through typing chrome just shut down for no apparent reason.
Finance
Groupon
EBay
Were can I download latest version of lg up. I only found one old for g4 and one that said 1.8.8.0 but wanted me to login.
Suspicious. What I do to prevent problems like this is to disable all apps possible, including googles apps and the Play store crap. Then go in to each app within settings and deny data access to them, clear the data and deny all hardware access that makes sense. For example, Groupon would not need microphone access so that access is removed. I think only the Contacts app has the phone permissions. It takes some time, but worth it. Reboot after you are done and re-check because sometimes the settings don't seem to stick. Maps will still work without Google Services. Using Android_x86 in a VM, trusted apps are downloaded in a virtual machine and then put on the sd card and then installed on the phone. I'm not a very trusting person Its suspect that the "Emergency Alert" app has access to everything and I can't deny microphone or any other access for it.
I think it may have been the app named "app flash" that was doing it. Its apparently the app verizon added that by default sits on the left side of the home screen. I disabled it from my home screen first while setting up my phone after reset but left app flash active. Its supposed to be some kind of assistant app that recommends apps to install and acts as a hub for all your other apps.
So far I haven't had anything else auto install(nothing visible anyways). After uninstalling all the 10 or so apps that were installed they haven't come back yet. Hopefully it stays that way and nothing malicious going on in the background.
Anyone please link me latest lg up? Still like to a complete fresh firmware install just to be safe. One that will completely wipe everything and install the os fresh.

Both my wife and I have had that happen. The apps we got were Big Farm, TMZ, and some other crappy game.
Our phones are unlocked and rooted, so I immediately did a bare-metal refresh - wiped everything including system and internal storage, and did a complete stock flash from recovery. Since then we have kept "Install from unknown sources" and "Auto-update" both set OFF, and have had no further issue.

Apps won't update

I am not sure if this is an Android or Galaxy issue so please redirect me if necessary.
I have a new S10 plus which has worked perfectly well since the beginning of January until a couple of weeks ago. It has the latest firmware. Suddenly, updates have stopped happening either automatically or manually. I notice that there are umpteen reports of this in many forums going back a couple of years and there is a wealth of advice as to how to fix it. I have tried them all many times (Play store cache, Play Services cache, rebooting, closing recent apps etc.) to the point where I gave up trying to find a solution and wiped the phone. It took a long while to restore some 200 apps but all came back and the first lot of updates updated correctly. However, a day or so later, the problem returned with apps only partially downloading or getting to 100% then not installing.
There was one "fix" I hadn't tried as I came upon it late on. I started the phone in safe mode. As soon as I did, the update whizzed through. However, after a normal restart, the problem was back. So I have a messy solution that I can apply when the list builds up but this is far from satisfactory.
This is where my ability and knowledge comes to an end. I am presuming that one of the apps that doesn't load in safe mode is causing the problem.....or is it? Could this be a system app? What can I do next? Is there an error log that could pin-point the cause of the problem?
Many thanks.

I noticed this issue as well. I use Aptoide to get updates faster and updating either Play Services/Store got mine to start working again
I have play store issues too.
One issue is i have to clear cache and force stop Playstore and services to get a list of updates to show up. I keep hitting check for updates and nothing, but when i do the above i get some updates appear straight away
Another issue is my list of beta apps dissapears every night at 9pm and magically reappears next morning at 9am. This also makes the security updates for play services in biometrics security settings dissapear at the same time. After months of arguing with Google and them blaming Samsung, telling me im running beta firmware (which i never installed beta, i went straight to Android 10 Stable) doing a complete factory reset and clean install, the problems still prevailed, then i found an old nexus 10tablet and installed my google account. When the beta apps ect dissapears from my S10plus it also simultaneously dissapears from the nexus 10.
The nexus 10 only has Android 6, has a different version of playstore and services. Yet Google Still insist its because my S10plus is only on beta firmware, even though i sent them about phone screenshots.
Its pretty obvious that this is some kind of syncing issue with Google servers and playstore services
But they refused to take ownership of the issues.
