I updated kernel which old version based on @tsvetkov_vlad kernel source, now using ported sidecore kernel from @side

Experimental Update:
- Added GPU OC to 600 MHz

The overclock is bad for our device?
---------- Post added at 05:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:15 AM ----------
I want to try it but ... How much is the difference in energy consumption with the maximum frequencies in cpu and gpu?
Is it harmful to use them?

Try installing the zip for the gpu but after flashing it the phone stayed in the Samsung logo. Not even start Lineageos14.1.
Although the zip for the overclock to the processor if it works.
Why does that happen with the gpu?

it's buggy for gpu oc as is named "experimental".... use kernel without gpu oc

U-update?

when @side update kernel source then i update the port

[I9300] Post your benchmark scores

The name tells everything. This thread will help you to find the best ROM and Kernel if you're looking for pure performance. The best scores will be listed in the second post.
Post your whole setup you're running and screenshots of the scores.
Antutu and Quadrant scores would be great.
Please list the:
-ROM you're running
-Kernel
-CPU frequency
-I/O scheduler
-
So it's time for me to post my own scores:
Setup:
-Omega 6.0
-Siyah 1.2.6
-1700mHz
-VR
Current top scores from Sak500
Setup: Blackstar V2 ROM with Perseus kernel
-Omega 6.0
-Siyah 1.2.6
-1704mHz
-noop
Currently on perseus kernel @ 1800mhz
Blackstar v2 ROM
Please can anybody post their stock firmware benchmark results. I am getting very low results in the ranges between 8000 to 9000.

Man you're lucky to be able to OC your S3 to 1800mhz.
I can't even OC it to 1800mhz at 1475mV without it restarting.

Friend I have checked that my power saving mode is disabled and still i am getting the same results. And also my Antutu tells that my S3 runs on ArmV7 with triple core. Is this a bug or really my phone has triple core not a quadcore? Can anybody confirm it? Thanks for your help friends.
Can you add what the highest score holder is running to the second post. This way we dont have to search through the pages to find out.
In this case its easy while the number of pages is low but to help going forward.
Edit: Also does it make sense to have a quad core high bench as well as a dual core??
Love the post, thanks.

As mentioned above i've o/c'd the phone to 1800mhz. That's how the score is high. Also i dont know if siyah is good for o/c but perseus and nimpahatimine are good kernels.

best rom for gaming

which is the best ics rom for gaming?
I think that kernel has more to do with games...
But with slimics + semaphore (xl ram) +smartass i am very happy with my gaming experience
I'm using the same config slimics 4.2 and semaphore 1.26s max mem option and smartassv2 with great results. Previously was using gamerzrom which is also a great gaming platform but is lacking on the user interface, just not smooth enough for my liking.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
cm9 with sgs3 pack & semaphore 2.3.6
games run very well =>like gta 3, maxpayne etc .. thanks to live oc and our powerfull gpu
iam using a live oc of 17%
what about devil kernel for gaming and battery?
Elite scorpion 2 kernel have awesome 3D. It's the default kernel in Elite´s RC 1.4.1 ROM.

The 3D drivers in Elite's ROM are improved, nothing in kernel. Kernel doesn't affect gaming, they are all based on Linux kernel with some added functions and updated drivers.
gamerz rom v11 the games run smoothly ..
how the battery life in gamerzrom????
currently i have an i9000 , ICS 4.0.4 , f4kmod, with semaphore 1.2.5 VC, with bigmem, (200MB of ram FREE) and i CANT make gta 3 playable without lag...
what i can try?
what is smartassv2?

then why the kernel developers are here?
check the Speedmod Kernel and Stock one and Semaphore Kernel on NenaMark3D
for Best result on gaming you have to disable all services on Phone.
check the background application and services, close them all via app freezers
CM9
USE CM9 HES THE MOST STABLE dont use roms with ROM control cause it sometimes get stuck
1-elite comes with neo kernel not scorpion 2 kernel
2-use slimICS with devil3_O.99 it has gpu overclock . and you can control your amount of ram
3-kernels do affect 3d gaming .

For me many Roms are good to gaming, why? because everyone do OC, use ultimate Kernell, with some perfomance changes and voltages cpu,
but specialy don´t forget some signs like heater, because when we want power and perfomance, battery will die soon, screen will be little hot, and off course cpu.
gaming with carefull

[Q] Overclock Kernel WITH MultiRom

Hello,
I saw that there are kernels for the Nexus 7 making it able to overclock to 2Ghz
I dont really need the 2Ghz but 1.8Ghz is more then enough.
Is there a Kernel that allows CPU to 1.8Ghz and support MultiRom ?
Or is anyone working on it yet?
Pekeltje
as far as i can tell no kernel do over clocking more then 1.7 Ghz and you have to individually read the kernel discription inorder to determine their computability with ur preferred rom.
And please post questions in Q&A section.
I don't think that's possible.

It is possible to overclock to 1.8 GHz but looks like that only works with Android 4.1... 4.2 and up cause bootloops. You should still be able to overclock to about 1.6 GHz. However, even I am using MultiROM. I don't think you will be able to have MultiROM with a kernel which would let you overclock since it makes changes to the kernel for booting more that one system. I want to overclock too. :crying: Anyone help? Maybe manually editing the elite or motley kernel should let you do that.
You can OC to 1.6GHz and still have multirom on a number of kernels including oxydo, M-Kernel, faux etc.
Finally!

Hey guys,
Recently i've been building some kernels from source and slightly editing them.
Since some people liked my custom optimus kernel i got the idea to do this!
You can make requests for things you want to see in a kernel(base kernel/features from other kernels/toolchains)
if possible provide the commit so i dont have to search for it on github
optimus communitybuild is my "flagship" the other kernels are side projects
Android Marshmallow:
-Optimus kernel r14 with OC + intelliplug [status: done] V1
-Optimus kernel r14 with OC + intelli/thunder plug + ARCH_POWER [status: done] V2
-Optimus kernel r15 community build see post for features [status: done] V3 *recommended for Marshmallow*
-SquidKernelX, kernel with lots of added features, download with UberTC 6.x or UberTC 4.9 [Status: done]
-Kalinethunter port for osprey [status: beta 2] if you you have no wifi reflash patched kernel Do not clean flash! [WIP]
Android Nougat:
-Optimus kernel r15 community build see post for features [status: done] V4 *recommended for nougat*
-Cyanogenmod 14 modified kernel with lots of stuff download R2
-Optimus r15 unofficial for nougat: ubertc4.9 ubertc6
Thanks for this, great idea
If you are interested, you can check out about modifying a kernel to include kali nethunter here- https://github.com/offensive-security/kali-nethunter/wiki/Porting-Nethunter
Maybe squid or firekernel with this?
Thanks again.

awesome, what about adding KSM
will this be beneficial on the osprey?
also
maybe
bumping the kernel version 3.10.102
or just adding Firekernel Oc into the new
squidkernel r17
(like explosion kernel but using firekernels oc)

Good job mate, i think you will be swallowed by all of requests hehe, so let me help with that
could you do this with squid kernel https://github.com/sultanqasim/android_kernel_motorola_msm8916
-merge it with latest cm comits (from aug 18 to aug 24 https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_kernel_motorola_msm8916/commits/cm-13.0 )
-add USB Fast Charge
-add westwood tcp congestion algorithm
-Underclock GPU, so it can idle at 19mhz
-add ARCH_Power
-Disable CRC-Check
-Dynamic-FSync
Thanks

As @Acidfire.TM said, you can make the squid-kali one oc'ed too. Or personally, i would like the firekernel for this (It's already overclocked so may save you some work, and I think we could use overclocked CPU and GPU for various kali tools). But I know its gonna take time and various trials, so please feel free, no hurry at all.[emoji2]

I was not talking about your one LOL. I was saying that it was a good idea to integrate oc to my suggested build. Or making it with firekernel (I found it really really good, and customizable). Anyways, OC with squid is a nice idea, thanks.

hah
sorry.
Kali nethunter gonna be seperate because its not yet ported to our Device so it's gonna take time, Ill update the thread that's was confusing
+ Have to merge some ideas because my PC can't compile a kernel in 5 sec haha
+ Gonna work the list from the op so what's on top has priority
Hi
A feature that I think lacks, in all Osprey's kernels is voltage control. If you can add this feature in squid kernel or firekernel, will be very great!

i dont think i can do that, as stated in op i just started doing this stuff but from what i know if an other device with sanpdragon 410 has volt control its easier to port. these commits are from different soc's
testing your arch_power, OC'ed Optimus kernel.
and it's working very nice.
i will benchmark it against fire kernel 5.6
and check back in with the results.

First is a patch for snapdragon 801
Second and third are kernels of two lg smartphones that have snapdragon 410 msm8916. But seems to be the full kernel, not only the voltage control, so probably it can't be inplemented in an osprey's kernel.
I've found only these kernels.
Anyway, thanks for your reply[emoji6]

i just benchmarked firekernel 5.6 against
the Oc'ed+arch_power Optimus r14 kernel
and with identical settings in KA.
they benchmarked with almost identical score
they both averaged about 1660 on Geekbench.
i ran multiple tests and it was pretty consistent.
the main noticeable the amount of free ram i get with firekernel , over 50% on idle. and it reclaims used RAM insanely fast upon exiting an app.
(1 GB US varient)
unfortunately with optimus r14 official and unofficial versions.
i get much less free ram around 40% in the same conditions (on idle) aswell as slow used memory reclaiming.
