Can I prevent OTA updates from locking my bootloader? - Honor 8 Lite Questions & Answers

Everytime after an OTA is done, I find my bootloader locked. Is there anything I can do to keep it from happening other than not updating at all? Unlock then proceeds to destroy all my existing data.

Root without unlocking bootloader

Like on the Nexus One, I would like to know if there is a way to root the phone without unlocking the bootloader. I have apps on my phone that I cant currently have wiped, so therefore cant unlock the bootloader. However if i can root, I can backup that specific app, and then unlock the bootloader, install roms etc, and then restore my app. Any help would be great, thanks.

He cant do a full wipe though is what he is saying
Bite the bullet and redo all your apps.
I cant bite the bullet, as the app has data that has to be remotely pushed to my phone and the people who do that are away for Christmas, Is there no way at all to root without unlocking the bootloader.

Unlocking/Locking/Relocking Bootloader

Hi XDA!
I recently unlocked my phone's bootloader to install an update for my p8lite and I want to lock it back. There is an option called relocking the bootloader and I want to know whether it is the same as locking the bootloader. Also will the ability to flash ROMs through fastboot lose after i relock it?
Thanks
Yes, it is the same, and yes, you will lose the fastboot flash ability. However, the fastboot screen won't show "Locked", it will show "Relocked"

Unrooting and re-locking bootloader?

Is there any way I can unroot my G4 and re-lock the bootloader (fully, removing the message), after doing it I realise I might not get OTA updates and the reason I rooted in the first place is no longer needed. Thanks

Reflash stock firmware via fastboot, then issue command "fastboot oem lock", although it'll change the bootloader state to "relocked" instead of the factory "locked".

Nougat BETA upadte locked my unlocked bootloader

I just noticed that after the upgrade to Nougat Beta on my FRD-L02 Indian version via the official OTA back in November, my bootloader has been locked!
Did anyone else face this? I unlocked my bootloader again but having to do this after every official OTA will be a pain as it wipes the device!
Yes it is a known fact and it is also a way to relock your bootloader
just do a backup before unlocking?
It is normal, and if you want to unlock the bootloader, 90% you'll use the unlock code you used in the first time

It's just a matter of command (as it's the same as unlocking) just a different command when locking

Did you even read the first 5 posts ..it clearly says when you flash a rollback update.app it locks the bootloader
fastboot oem relock (yourunlockcodehere)
Will relock > not Lock like the update.app will
That's an easy and free way to re-lock your phone.
I've done lots of updates (as long as they are OTA's) without causing anything to be re-locked. The only thing I know of that re-locks the bootloader is the rollback to b162. How , or which method (Charles, part-of-beta-testers, dialer method) did you use to apply update that locked the phone? I'm on b360 now without any loss of data, and remained unlocked so I don't see that effect myself.
Thanks.

Can't get ota update after relocking the bootloader

So,
this is wierd, i had an unlocked phone with magisk.
Yesterday i decided to go back to stock, so i have flashed the stock rom and relocked my bootloader.
Now i cant get an ota update with again, a locked bootloader no root or system modification.
Anybody know why? Thanks.
That's most probably because the current inactive slot still has some modifications present. Simply unlock the bootloader again, then flash the fastboot image to both the slots (A and B) and you'll be good to go. An unlocked bootloader wouldn't prevent you from taking OTA updates. However, if you still wish, you can relock the bootloader again.
Just a tip: Keep "OEM unlocking" in developer options enabled, it could really come in handy if your device fails to boot on both the partitions somehow.
Same problem here! Do you have camera2api?
