Which is the "optional zip" and when is needed to flash it?
And OP said we use magisk 15. I thought magisk 15 root and drm fix can't be done simultaneously?
So this will be the first working method if really works.

if i fastboot the kernel only it will wipe all my apps and contacts?

I had that issue too. You need to boot into TWRP and wipe your user partition. Then, when you reboot, you should see 64 GB but it does reset all your data and apps etc. so backup before you do that.

thank so much, it's working

thanks, kernel is working fine!

[Stock][Z2(D6503) 6.0.1 Marshmallow][.570][Prerooted+ TWRP + Xposed][LB]

Hello Friends,
today I'd like to show you how to upgrade your Z2 (D6503) w/ locked Bootloader to the latest 6.0.1 Marshmallow STOCK + TWRP + (optional)Xposed Framework.
First of all I'd like to thank those people for their work:
@adop40 for the overall idea
@serajr for making the Marshmallow TWRP that works with locked Bootloader
@Victor91rus for uploading the .570 firmware I used to make the flashable .zip
@ravdo & @niaboc79 for the Bootloop Fix Guide & Bootloopfix.zip
Checklist for the things you need1. A Z2 phone running the latest Lollipop STOCK + Root + Busybox+ [NUT]'s Dual Recovery (If you don't have root, search for kingroot and root your device, after that install [NUT]'s Dual Recovery)
2. Download Bootloop Fix from HERE
3. Download my Marshmallow Package with the required files here: DOWNLOAD [MEGA] OR if you wanna use your own flashable rom just download the files without rom here: DOWNLOAD [MEGA]
4. Make a backup of your device
5. Install latest adb drivers and enable USB Debugging + Unknown Sources
6. IF you have Xposed Framework installed on Lollipop download the uninstaller from HERE
choose xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip
Installing Guide using Sonys Official ROM (Easy and Safe Version)1. Extract the zip files (flashable.zip, byeselinux_flashable.zip, RICDefeat.zip) from the marshmallow.zip + BOOTLOOP FIX.zip onto your SD Card and copy the Recovery Folder (Z2_MM_TWRP) to your Desktop + IF you have the Xposed Framework installed copy the xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip also to your SD card
2. Boot your phone into Recovery Mode DO A FACTORY RESET FIRST(Optional: You can TRY to keep your apps + data and just DO NO FACTORY RESET AT ALL which maybe works(for me it did) but create a backup first) and THEN flash the zip files in this order: (xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip) => flashable.zip => byeselinux_flashable.zip => RICDefeat.zip => BOOTLOOP FIX.zip
3. Wipe Cache & Dalvik and REBOOT
3.1. Flash the kernel only using flashtool using the ftf (exclude everything except Kernel) and then boot (First boot may take a while because we cleaned the Dalvik-Cache)
4. After the reboot INSTALL BUSYBOX(Open App and hit Install) and then connect your phone to the PC and run the install.bat from the Z2_MM_Recovery folder (Accept any prompt popping up on your phone)
5. Phone will reboot into recovery when successfull, then you're done
6. Enjoy
Installing Guide using a different ROM (Try at your own risk/confirmed working ROMs at Threadbottom)1. Extract the zip files (BETA-SuperSU-v2.68.zip, byeselinux_flashable.zip, RICDefeat.zip) from the "marshmallow without ROM.zip" + BOOTLOOP FIX.zip onto your SD Card, copy your "customROM.zip" onto your SD card and copy the Recovery Folder (Z2_MM_TWRP) to your Desktop + IF you have the Xposed Framework installed copy the xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip also to your SD card
2. Boot your phone into Recovery Mode DO A FACTORY RESET FIRST(Optional: You can TRY to keep your apps + data and just DO NO FACTORY RESET AT ALL which maybe works(for me it did) but create a backup first) and THEN flash the zip files in this order: (xposed-uninstaller-********-arm.zip) => customROM.zip => BETA-SuperSU-v2.68.zip => byeselinux_flashable.zip => RICDefeat.zip => BOOTLOOP FIX.zip
5. Phone will reboot into recovery when successfull then you're done
(optional) Xposed Framework for MarshmallowIf you wanna use Xposed Framework on Marshmallow you need to do two more extra things:
Prerequisites:
Z2 with working Marshmallow + Root + TWRP INSTALLED
XposedInstaller.apk You can find it HERE
XposedFramework.zip You can find it HERE (Download the LATEST one)
How to install:
1. Install the XposedInstaller.apk
2. Reboot into TWRP and flash the XposedFramework.zip
3. Wipe Cache & Dalvik and Reboot
4. Enjoy
Confirmed working custom ROMs[ROM]Marshmallow_Stock_570_ROM_Ultraslim (Full deodxed)
If you have any questions or find MISTAKES just message me I'll try to keep the thread updated :good:
Don't forget to flash the bootloopfix.zip or you'll have a bad time!!!
Downloading.....i can't wait to test

Thank you for your instructions!
I have some questions in order to make clear some issues:
1) I am at 32.2.A.0.253 rooted by your method in the other post. Should I update to Nougat first and then do this process?
2) What about the DRM keys? Were they lost? Were they "imaged"? Will they be lost now with this process?

sir
you are on oct2016 version of MM, .305 came in december16, .372 in jan17 and now inf feb .376 is the latest one.
1. YES you MUST upgrade to 32.3.A.0.376 to do the process explained above. (i.e. if you want to upgrade)
2. I am assuming that your BOOTLOADER is LOCKED and you NEVER send your imei keys to SONY asking for BOOTUNLOCKER code.
if yes then
- your DRM KEYS are intact. and you cannot ROOT it and the process above is NOT for you.
- in order to have root access, you must first research and find tools such as dirty cow script in order to EXTRACT drm KEYS -- OR downgrade to android 5.1.1 (Dec 2015 stockrom of Z5x) and use Ivory ROOT or KINGROOT to gain root access and EXTRACT DRMKEYS.
- at this point if you simply unlock your bootloader, your DRM KEYS and TA img will be wiped.

Thank you for your immediate answer.
In my post above, I wrote that I have my device rooted following your initial method, in which unlocking the bootloader is necessary, so my BL is certainly unlocked.
After rooting, I hadn't restored DRM keys, because the kernel has simulation.
So the question remains: what shall I do now about the DRM keys during this process?
Thank you very much in advance

Sir
i am sorry i overlooked the part you mentioning your Root / UB status.
the answer is NO its not necessary! since the modified kernels have DRM FIX, it should work just fine.
please upgrade to .376 and flash your kernel, install superuser or superSU.
later to give /system RW access, please follow the codes to be run in TERMINAL for ANDROID app.

Hi I just started using Xperia X Dual (F5122), earlier I was using rooted Asus Zenfone with custom ROMs. But rooting Xperia seems a bit different from what I used to with zenfone.
I have few questions
What is this DRM key backup and restore? And my phone came with 7.1 preinstalled so is there a different procedure??
Where do I start? First root then backup the DRM keys? When will I need them again?
I have asked a lot of questions but I was reading all the threads here but I am getting more confused.
I want to root and try custom ROMs. Thanks

Hi
I have an Xperia X (F5121) running Android 7.0 build n. 34.2.A.0.333
I've already unlocked the bootloader without backing up the drm keys (my mistake, i know now)
My questions are:
- can i flash this kernel?
- would it fix the drm keys?
- do i have to downgrade first to MM (Android 6) - i ask this because the author says this post is an extension of a post that says so
Thanks in advance

please flash F5121 with 34.3.A0.206 / 7.1.1 using flashtool. i have put the fsc script if you get error.
once flashed, please flash the kernel of F5121 and reboot.
the device will boot having
- drm fix /ok
- supersu / ok
however you must give /system rw permission via terminal (after installing busybox)

for Magisk
you must first
1. clean flash your xperia x using flashtool and wipe all partitions ( meaning you will loose data)
2. don't boot you device after clean flashing
3. now flash recovery twrp 3.1 ( see forum there is methon given)
4. flash kernel ( given in th OT) or if you want to have kernel with NO superSU for magisk, and you want to FLASH SUPERSU using twrp 3.1.... give me your kernel.sin , and i will make kernel for u having NO superSU
5. now boot in twrp by keep presSING power and volum down keys until you see pink led and you are prompted to twrp
6. flash magisk and supersu ( which must be in your sdcard since before beginning)
7 clean delvik cache and cache
8 reboot in to system
remember if you didn't follow step two, xperia x rom will ENCRYPT your internal partition and you will get error in twrp. so its very important that you boot after doing everything! once booted the partition / internal storage will be encrypted by sony. and twrp no longer work...

Requirements
If you haven't unlocked bootloader yet check this guide
Good News ! If you have TA.img backup of your device I highly suggest using this tool to patch stock kernel using your own TA image to have drm working with latest Magisk 16.3. Follow TA_POC METHOD instructions below .
- Kernel (boot.img) + Magisk + DRM fix patch
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wv-Djz38wT_gywlJZPFPG13dATP90-E8
- Latest TWRP from here
And obviously :
- ADB and FASTBOOT : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
- Xperia XZ drivers : https://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-xz/
- FlashTool : http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
What are DRM Keys ?
If you unlocked the bootloader on a Sony Xperia device, you probably know that the potential loss of warranty is not the only disadvantage you have to accept. Another fairly hidden issue is related to various proprietary features such as the X-Reality color mangement, BIONZ image processor and the active noise cancelling techniques. Once you decide to unlock your bootloader, the process also removes a piece of data referred to as the DRM keys. These are tied to various services (such as streaming video and the like) offered by Sony but are also required for the features mentioned above to work properly. Put simply, once the keys are gone, you’ll face issues such as decreased low light camera image quality and the lack of the X-Reality mode.

Well if you did a little research you would know..
Basically all Sony xperia phones have a lot of features like BionZ aka camera sharpening/ processing/noise reduction, X-Reality / Bravia engine for display ,Noise Cancelling and other audio enhancing features which is really awesome
But first when you unlock the bootloader , those keys called drm in short.. every sony device have them preinstalled will be gone .. ALL THESE GOODIES WILL STOP WORKING ..
Here came the importance of drm patches to emulate those lost keys and restore full features !

because you upgraded while keeping data some apps may have problems asking for root .. try wiping those apps data ?
